When fighting it with a greatsword stick "your" right side and be ready to roll or shoulder tackle. Basically evade and attack and hope for knock down
Clifford is one of my favorite monsters. Helped me develop my own style of combat for the LBG. LOVE YOU DOGGO!!!
A similar thing happened with me and the Greatsword.

Odogaron is the first of my favorites from Monster Hunter World. He's pure aggression, and he either teaches you careful positioning with timed strikes, or he teaches you to be MORE aggressive and in your face, also with careful positioning.
Once you master either of those, he's a VERY fun fight. I main greatsword, and it's surprising how much you can manage to get in if you time it well.
Also... Dragon Damage is reportedly based on how smart a monster is, with higher dragon damage meaning that the monster is smarter. Odogaron is literally big dumb muscle that survives off of being the meanest monster in the Rotten Vale.

Fighting Weasel boy with the great sword is one of the most fun and hype building moments I've had fighting monsters, especially when you do the tackle as it's striking at you, knocking it down and breaking its legs.
Great sword has the power to collapse stars but...
Sword and shield has the power to destroy the very fabric of existence if used without proper constraint!

@@LeSoing you should check out Gaijin Goomba on a video he did of Odo, the similarities are there plus the clearly Japanese stylized armor set it has helps support this.
@@otakon17 His optional capture quest is called "A Man's Best Fiend" and his proportions are nowhere near that of a weasel. His limbs would need to be shorter and his abdomen would need to be a bit longer. I'm sure there was some inspiration drawn from the kamaitachi in some aspects, but I highly highly doubt it was designed to look like a weasel of all things. Also, it's a reptile, (it's a fanged wyvern, not a fanged beast) so I think the whole dog vs weasel thing goes out the window. I think the dog puns in the quest descriptions/titles were made cause it looked a lot like a dog. I mean, it does have "dog" in it's name. Either way, there's a 0.01% chance this thing is supposed to be a weasel in it's entirety. Many monster designs draw from a variety of inspirations each, and I find it hard to believe that the only inspiration for Odogaron was a weasel cryptid. The monster design process isn't that plain.

Given that I find myself farming Clifford a lot, here are a few follow-ups to the info in the video. Generally, (especially when not enraged) Odogaron will do 3-attack cycles. Use this to your advantage, but remember, it's better to be cautious and have the fight go long than to die for being greedy. His lunging attack that kicks up dirt as he jumps backwards is hardly ever followed up by anything, so it is also a good time to strike.
On another note, evicting Clifford's tail helps with a good number of his moves, as many of them incorporate the tail in some manner. Jumping attacks are also extremely effective against the Reddest of Bois, as he has very little vertical reach with his attacks.

I luckily only fainted once on my first encounter with Odi, I used a greatsword and took my time to read it's movements after I was sent back to camp in a fit of rage.

I love the Odogaron fight, it’s easily my 3rd favorite, It May not be all that hard for me, but it always puts my reactions to the test.
Odogaron teached me to blovk and counter attack properly in MHW that made me really excited because the least monster that tough me my last main weapon (greatsword) properly was the nargacuga in mhfu that feeling of getting the fight "right" got me hell of excited and nostalgic
We focus on the terrors of the ground that we forget of he who goes toe to toe with such terrors, the explosive expert, the one who rains eggs of death on the ground beckoning those to hit one and laughs as they stagger... we call it *Bazelgeuse*
