Tip: If you do break his fangs, do you know that his minions won't even bother you once you do. They only assist because he's bigger and his fangs are sharp and long. Break those suckers than they won't even bother to jump in. Even after you kill it they won't even mess with ya.
Great Girros is my favorite of the "lizard" monster and if your Palico befriends a girros AT LEAST IT CAN DO SOMETHING same can't be said for jagras, kestadon, shamos, or gastodon

You've got to give emo jagras SOME credit, there's a lot of fairly fearsome foes that are weak to paralysis, so have gyro weapons is a nice option to have on standby.
An added general rule to do in Rotten Vale against the gas is using mantles-! Assuming you’re not using one that gets used up right away I.e. challenger or ghille, any mantle while worn negates the effluvia! Especially handy if you have no torch pods and a bandit mantle to farm for trade items.
You forgot that on rare cases the great girros can give you the "affluvium" status effect but only rarely and only on a certain attack. It's okay though you can worry about that when you do the monster that does that status effect alot c:
Protip: Greay Girros is kind of worthless but if you take time to farm and upgrade the plague doctor armor set you get from hunting him you get an immunity to the gas, or just craft the coil since it's the only piece of the armor that gives you immunity to the gas so you don't really need the full set, the rest just offers a resistance to paralysis.
I've actually found the Long Sword to be the perfect weapon at dealing with it. The large sweeps of the blade slay the ads while damaging the boss, making this trivial monster even more trivial.
@@Mattlouietrue, but the waist DOES protect you from taking effluvium damage from the ENVIRONMENT constantly, and you don't have to keep using slinger torch to clear away the gas, I always wear the waist when I go to the vale, regardless of my armor set, it lets me focus on the fight more and not constantly check my health.

Tips you might have missed: -slinging torches also makes approaching the area difficult for babby girros...es. -The effluvium is also negated when you're wearing a mantle. The dosh mantle is hilariously good for this.
Things that made my first encounters really easy: -If you don't have slinger torches, you can also use a mantle to filter the air you're breathing -Weapons with wide arcs are really good here, gets rid of the regular girros' while you're attacking the big one. So longsword or swaxe ftw.
I will say my part he is my best friend in the Rotten Veil because i cant count how many times he has helped me take down Clifford that alone makes him a good monster in my book
The best thing about Great Gyro is making the leather daddy armour he provides to make all your friends uncomfortable by saying leather daddy repeatedly.

Crafting armor from the vespids can help you with this. Like seriously they come with paralysis resistance and "gas" resistance. Also I fight the great Gyros simply because I wanted something with paralysis damage and I like the armor.
