I love how intense Teo is about his BBQ. He cooks for his wife, the real breadwinner, but acts as though he's the head honcho with his crackalacka boom-boom meat rub.
Teostra i have no issue taking on with basically any set i have available, but his hot blue Girlfriend?, well she practically needs a set of her own not to get locked in her steamy supernova.
Kinda makes me miss the MHFU day ngl
the old days where she was the intro elder dragon and not the pinnacle of pain and despair.

That 5 and 4 at the end represents the years it will take for the series to come back
Its fun to think that probably 80% of US finished the game+dlc and know exactly how to fight these monsters but we still want these videos
Worth noting, blast can inflict stun more often than normal so be careful about that, and ranged attacks bounce if you hit his main body, so hit the wings/tail/head or don't do damage really.
Also both auras can be active at once so that'll some extra toasty spice. Since they make him very dangerous when it happens.
Also, blight goes to "elemental" ailments (fire, water, ice, thunder, and dragon)
Also, don't forget that while the anti-toast mantle is a good choice, the rocky mantle helps from being knocked around, as long as you don't stand on the carpet of cart.
That's all I gotta say really, Gabe is getting better at covering the monsters and little extras on them.
Also utilizing the crystal rock hazards in first area helps even the fight a little and if hes around another elder dragon he'll have a turf with them except lunastra

True, though if you wanna, sleeping the toaster under the rocks will double the damage, this can be used on big boi behemoth.
Also while turf wars are a solid call for that easy damage, they can be unpredictable since there might just not be a monster to turf war with. But if there is then yeah, let them fight.
@@ethansitton565 my only problem fighting teostra is when ppl are using him as a test run and die every time I mean come on there are other monsters better suited for test runs but doing it on someone else's quest is ignorant don't you think
@@ethansitton565 blastblight also falls under an elemental ailment as it is technically a fire ailment, having 20 or above fire resist means you can't be affected by blastblight, this is also true for paralysis iirc but that doesnt come up nearly as often and i havent played in some time :P

Yeah but when it comes to nullification, blight res does nothing. You need 3 point in blast res in order to nullify it. Never noted that fire res lowers blast, have to keep that in mind.
I love these videos so much. I hope this next upcoming video comes soon. I listen to literally all of these as a play monster Hunter just because I like them that much.

cool toaster tip: having 20 or more resistance to an element will make you completely immune to that element's respective blight and 20 fire resistance in particular carries the additional bonus of making you immune to blastblight as well. it's not a strategy exclusive to toaster (you can use it on just about anything as long as you pick the right element) but it works especially good on him.
I actually have over 30 fire res in my second character who still needs to fight toaster
I cheese it with decorations. One of the advantages of there not being too many bowgun specific skills. Just stack elemental/ailment defenses, maybe some critical eye, and just have fun.
in 2025 we will have Monster Matchup Fatalis, and I'm all for it

“The Brave Little Teostra”
One important thing to mention about Toaster's elemental weaknesses - For some god knows why reason water is actually more effective than ice despite the notes stating both have 3 star effectively. While ice is still better for damage than the other three elements, prioritise using water over ice when you can.
Fighting Teostra and his blue waifu is like riding a bike.
Except the Bike is on fire,

@@shrimp9985 I mean... I have. Its not that difficult. Its really not. I've noticed many people tend to swing too many times against Teo. Especially with immobile weapons like the hammer or the greatsword. Stop overextending, and you should be fine.
@@shrimp9985 I feel Lunastra MR is less frustating than HR (idk, maybe I'm already used to her attack pattern or it just not aggressive than the HR one) . Teostra MR is not bad and relatively fair fight. Switch to light weapons if you have struggle fighting both.

You can actually tell when teostra will explode his dust if you watch his mouth: his fangs proc the explosions just like in his lore, and it helps with learning the timing if you want to be insane and dodge through the blasts, like me
He also uses his jump attack to detonate the dust when he scatters it in a radius around him, with everything exploding when he lands. When Gabe says that the dust just doesn't explode and instead fades away after a while it was probably caused by Teostra getting interrupted or staggered before he could detonate it.
Just seeing this will premiere in 11 minutes made my night better

Quick clarification: while both water and ice have 3 star weaknesses, the actual hitzone values for water are all +5% better than they are for ice. In terms of percent increased elemental damage, this ranges from 20% increased (25%->30%) on the head to 50% increased (10%->15%) on its worst hitzones. Ice will do, and in a quest featuring teo and luna, bring I'd recommend ice, but in most teostra hunts, water is preferable.
Also, afaik, poison no longer turns off elder auras. Elderseal specifically does that.

A neat fun fact I found out. Teo's blast dust isn't ignited by time, it's invited by him biting down. His fangs create the spark to ignite them. That's why they sometimes don't go off, like if you stagger him before he can do a biting attack

First off, welcome back to the New World, Gabe! Hope the hiatus - and getting back into the groove of the hunting - has treated you well! As for the rest of what I wanted to say, Teostra is one of my favorite monsters in MHW. and I've enjoyed his fight from the get go. However! I did not know about the crystalburst trick! I knew about the flash pods, but as an IG main I... tend not to use them a whole lot. But the crystalburst bit? Definitely good to know! :D

I used high rank Odogaron armor frequently when fighting this bad boy, so instead of taking fire blight damage while fighting him, I would always hear that ever wonderful high pitched "*ping*" sound whenever I got too close.

I belive the idea behind the functionality of how poison affected Teo as well as Kush in previous titles has been replaced via the Elderseal as it pretty much does the same thing.

I remember my first hunt against the big fire cat and oh boy how naive I was to try and block the Nova with the lance (without Guard Up at the time). Now that I bought MHW on PC and its been a hot minute since I fought these monsters your videos are much welcomed!
Like, you know, I commend gabe for kinda, sticking to it, for world. But like, come on man, world/iceborne just ended. At this rate rise will be out when you do xeno. Idk if you plan on doing iceborne monsters, but g rank rise will be out when you do shara lol. And, maybe I'm just reading too far into it, but you kinda sounded less enthused during this one, if you dont really want to do this series, that's ok man, try something else. I mean, tbh, at this point. I'd maybe try and get the rest of base world out quickly, dont do iceborne, and then when rise drops, hit the ground running. But either way man, this is in fact a great video, and I got mad respect for you, I just want you to be successful, but more importantly happy. Best of luck to you gabe.
Another thing to mention is he will get into turf wars with other elder dragons that are in the area. And gabe from now on you must make these matchups against AT versions of elders. I see those bits of master rank equipment and I now the arch tempereds aren't that difficult anymore. Tough yes but not that bad as before.
