The fact that the neighbors don’t want it preserved for safety reasons shows how much they dislike Monroe. I understand they want their peace and quiet but revoking it as a historic landmark would be devastating for Marilyn fans.

The fans don’t have to live there, the current residents do. I think a better option is if the current owners gift the house to the city and let the city disassemble it and move it to city owned land. The property was not deemed a historical home when they bought it. The city is always a day late and a dollar short. They should have deemed it historical a long time ago.

She died there, let her be at peace. This is not a historical, as far as history is concerned, landmark.

The very wealthy new owners, own 12306 6th Helena Dr. and want a bigger back yard ,wow tear down a Beautiful Home on a lot only"" 0.53 just so your backyard is a little bigger, doesn't make sense, there are properties thru out Los Angeles that are much much bigger and huge lots for these rich people to enjoy, 14 previous owners have preserved Marilyn's home. I pray they do the decent, respectful thing . And let the Dearly Loved Home be

I consider it a historical landmark due to her death in that house and for the mysterious aspect of how she died.

And also the cultural impact it had on American society and how they viewed Hollywood and blamed the terrible treatment of women in the show business that let to her tragic end. Imo, it's not just a historical landmark for Monroe alone, but also for the women's rights movement that came in the 60s and 70s.

They should move it and make it a museum, i mean if they were able to make Los Alamos one where so many people died why not a house?

marilyn was not only a cultural figure but she was the first true movie star from los angeles to make it big. it deserves to be preserved . the owners shouldn’t had bought the home , they knew the history of the home so they shouldn’t be surprised

Graceland is cultural, a house that Norma Jean lived in for a few months, is nothing but a normal house.

Why is it such a fuss. Just move the house somewhere that it could be visited by the fans

    • @jenc8953

I agree. The owners can just let the city take it, the city can have it disassembled and move it themselves to a city owned land. The house wasn’t deemed historical when it was sold so why is the city griping about it now? If it was so valuable to the city, they should have deemed it historical a long time ago.
