Correction: Elizabeth II was in Kenya, not South Africa when she learned she had inherited the throne.
We'll after 3 years of requests, I've finally done it! Here are all 85 of Queen Victoria's great-grandchildren. Among them are 7 monarchs, 6 consorts and 4 heirs who for various reasons never inherited thrones. Other were nobles and commoners who led fascinating lives. And seeing how royals from all over Europe were connected by blood during WWI and WWII is fascinating. To get ahead of the inevitable next request to cover the Queen’s great great grandchildren, of which there were 142, I will be highlighting just the subsequent generations who did and still do occupy or claim thrones.

I feel bad for Feodora the most.. She was treated like she was unwanted her whole life. First by her mother, then by her husband when he tossed her into a sanitarium. Plus, she never even got to have the children she so desperately wanted... That's just heartbreaking. RIP to her ❤
Poor thing, she should have become a nun.
Is it Feodora? I always thought it was Theodora, but I agree with you about her life. Poor thing.
@@jeanpence7950 The video called her Feodora. I checked again before commenting lol
Feodora actually had 6 children with her husband, Ernst..... 😅 3 sons and 3 daughters, to be precise.
@cassandrarose11 Wrong one. Princess Feodora of Saxe-Meiningen was the one Lindsey was talking about. Her mother was Princess Charlotte of Prussia, and her grandmother was Victoria, Princess Royal. Feodora's husband was Prince Heinrich XXX, Reuss of Köstritz. They had no children.
Princess Alexandra, Duchess of Fife was quite impressive. Her dedication to nursing and healthcare are inspiring ❤
So happy we have a new series!!!
Imagine having so much drama in your family that you start a world war.
I hate this idea that they somehow started the world war. They DIDN'T and it's ridiculous that many people actually believe that WWI was a family feud. It's as if people don't go to school these days.
So many of Queen Victoria's descendants lives embody every aspect of 20th century geo-politics...it's amazing.
In addition Helen helped save the lives of countless Romanian Jews during the Holocaust. Because of that she was later recognized by Yad Yashem as righteous among the nations.
Yes that is correct
Fun fact: Wolfgang was the last living descendant of Queen Victoria to have been born in her lifetime
A new series! I would love a video about Queen Victoria’s relationships with her servants John Brown and Abdul Karim.
You wouldn't get very far with that:) I would love to see that ?
Please learn how to pronounce German personal and place names. Thanks!
Drinking tea while watching you spill the tea of history always makes my tuesdays better! You're the Best Lindsay! NEVER miss a single video and reccomend your work to all i know! You're on your way to a VERY well deserved Million subscribers!
Thank you!

Atrocious spelling!
Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth II lived in quite the timeline.
Take a shot every time Lindsay says, "x married his/her cousin"
Ima get drunk fast💀
I counted 8, just in this episode. 😳
Hahahaha gonna be schmammered 😅
😅😅😅🍻
Ernm...I need my liver for later, tho...😅
still remembered the first video ive watched the daughters of queen Victoria part1. 5 years later and still watching your amazing video. love you so much Lindsay💟💟💟
During the energy crisis of the 70s King Olaf of Norway used public transit to reach his favourite cross-country skiing facility. When asked why he didn’t take a bodyguard he gestured around him and replied, "I have four million of them!"
I didn’t know that LOL😂
Wow.. this was a marathon 😅 I'm exhausted just by listening to this, so kudos to you, Lindsey, for researching and recording this one! 😊
Slight correction: Carl Johan Bernadotte Count of Wisborg was the last surviving great-grandchild of Queen Victoria. He outlived Princess Katherine of Greece and Denmark by about five years.
Your hardwork and dedication is always infinitely better than All of those AI generated history documentaries combined! Nothing will ever beat yout channel!
Most of those AI posts have lots on inaccurate comments in them.
- For anyone wondering, the reason the German Crown Prince’s son was succeeded by his own grandson was because Louis Ferdinand’s eldest two sons married morganatically and could not transmit their rights, while Georg Friedrich’s father was killed in a military accident because he was serving in the Bundeswehr (the modern German army)
- Victoria Louise was also interestingly, mostly due to her young age at the time her husband took his throne, the last surviving consort of any German monarch who reigning in 1918
Lindsay, I adore your videos. I recommend your channel and share your content with anyone I know. I love what you do, how passionate, accurate, and dedicated you are. We need more of you in this world. Thank you
Thank you so much!!
Lindsay you are such a relief to hear when so many history channels are just AI! We don’t deserve you! 🎉❤
I always listen when you mention Norway 😂 In fact, King Olav died on my 1st birthday, so while I don't remember it, it is easy for me to remember...
This was so interesting. Poor Feodora had a tragic life.
The Empress of Europe 👑 What an extraordinary woman. I never realised how vast her family was
Hi Lindsay.
13:50 Constantin II pasted away in 10th of january 2023.
Can hardly wait for parts 2 and 3!
Wow! I mean just WOW!! this is incredible. As a scholastically trained historian, this entire family has been a part of my studies for years, decades, yet you have made this so concise and so understandable that it's just amazing the amount of time that you've had to put into this. Bravo!
Hope this video of Queen Victoria's great-grandchildren will be a huge hit for millions of viewers soon.
You already made the video of George V's children back then.
It's honestly amazing (and a little gross) how the European monarchies knew each other / were related to one another in some way. Good luck with this new series, Lindsay :D
Yees, a lot of times in the video one hears '...and married her/his cousin'
Imagine being one of the children/grandchildren, and you didn't want kids. I could imagine how horrible they would've treated them :/
louise wasn't treated badly tho
Only ones that it would have pressure on were those that need an heir and a spare.
Not at all time when having multiple kids was the norm, her relatives made up for it
You could have them raised by governesses and tutors.
If you didn’t want to have children you just don’t get married. That generally takes care of it. Usually only the first and second born, sometimes a third born were required to ensure continuation of the family line.
Queen Victoria was really the grandmother of the World
She wasn’t connected to the Habsburg family.
Her contemporary, King Christian IX of Denmark (father of Queen Alexandra) could give her a run for her money.
@@DarthDread-oh2ne The Dutch royals are not descended from her (or Christian IX of Denmark). No connections with the Italian House of Savoy other than Prince Philipp of Hesse marrying Princess Mafalda.
@@LJB103and They Were Cousins Too!!!
@@gregoryjones9546 Who?
Excellent video and I look forward to the next installment. Minor point: Princess Elizabeth was in Kenya when George VI died.
That error stuck out to me the minute she said "South Africa". It was Kenya.
Ooooh this one has been anticipated!!
Hi friend. I just got done watching the funeral of Otto von Hapsburg.
Dang, Georgie and Nikki looked like twins!
@ChristChickAutistic
Only with the beards.
@@dominaevillae28 I dunno man, their eyes are the same too! 😁
@@ChristChickAutistic Their eyes are the easiest ways to tell them apart imo! George has his father's heavy lidded Hanoverian eyes with a dash of his mother's, while Nicholas' eyes are more Romanov.
@@piratesswoop725To me their eyes look just like their mother's (which were sisters)
No! Correction! Princess Elizabeth, as she was then, was on the first leg of her Commonwealth tour, staying at Treetops in KENYA, when she got the news that her father had passed away, on 6 February 1952. 😉
I think she is confusing the queens first common weath tour alone and her actual first common weather tour that she went on with her parents. When she made her famous first speech in south Africa.
@@nancyjohnson7147 Yes. George and Elizabeth took both their daughters on an extensive trip in 1947. She gave the radio speech on her 21st birthday in Cape Town. Elizabeth was on her first solo tour [with Phillip] because of George's illness when she was informed at Treetops in February, 1952
@@suzyfarnham3165 A strange fact - I sat on the seat Elizabeth used to make her speech in Cape Town. It had been kept aside since her visit.
Greece has the wildest history. The last 250 years have been a rollercoaster, yikes.
Tell me about it.
Actually Queen Victoria was the mother of two monarchs as her 2nd son the Duke of Edinburgh was also the reigning monarch of the duchyof Saxe Coburg and Gotha
Sovereign Duke-not a king.
@@KristenK78 still a monarch
There are a couple good books about the grandkids and their families. Johan van der Kiste does some good ones, highly recommended!
Love this!!! Now, can you cover the Stuart era I more depth (such as doing Anne Hyde, Queen Anne, Queen Mary II, Marie de Medici, etc). Also I would like to see a video about Queen Elizabeth I ladies in waiting. Thank you❤️
Mary II and Anne are coming soon!
Her family multiplied like tribbles. Good for you!
There's hardly anyone under the age of 50 who will understand the reference. But I love it.
My German born grandparents' worked and got married at the Hohenzollern castle in Germany. The castle you mentioned around 3:20 I went to the castle in 2011 it was amazing, and so high up from ground level
I can’t wait until Lindsay gets to Ralph and how he can become King.
Can we also have a video of Victoria's now living relatives that are royal.❤
You’re such a hard worker with your videos Lindsay! ❤
Joachim of Prussia’s grandson married Maria Vladimirovna the heiress to the Russian throne.
Irene of Greece’s grandson Aimone Duke of Aosta is a claimant to the Italian throne too.
Maria Vladimarovna is merely a "pretender" to the so called "Russian Throne". I saw "pretender" due to the status of her parents marriage, if the "rules" of Russian Imperial Families and only males being eligible for the "throne" are applied. Good thing most of that nonsense is behind us.
Your pronunciation of the (,mostly) German family names is beautifully done. 😊
Lind is one day gona do a video about all Victoria's descendes that have yet to be born. 😂
Love all the videosss! Keep up the great work!
I know you usually do women’s history (which I adore!) but would you consider doing an episode on lord Byron and maybe the women in his life? I think you’d tell it in a way that would be so interesting!
Sometimes the past seems so very close: what’s a few decades? But then you see the number of GENERATIONS between now and then, and the years suddenly stretch out so much further. But then sometimes it’s the reverse, and the generations bring the past so much closer, because descendants bring living memory forward. It’s hard to articulate. Does anybody get what I mean?
Yes Children grow up so fast:) time seems slow and fast at the same time !
I was struck by how much Queen Mary's daughter Mary and Queen Elizabeth looked alike. Did anyone else notice this?
Princess Margaret in her teens and 20s looked very much like Princess Mary, The Princess Royal
Princess Mary of the UK married Henry Lascelles. It's pronounced "Las-sells"
King Charles bears a striking resemblance to his grandfather.
They have a long, thin face, eyes close together. Even William Prince of Wales, has that long look.
@e.e.harrison1357 both Prince William & Prince Harry look a lot like their Dad, His Majesty. They resemble him in different ways, however.
The grandfather you refer to would be Prince Andrew of Greece and Denmark. He is the father of the late Prince Philip. Is this who you mean? I enjoy all this history.
@@e.e.harrison1357 I think the king resembles George VI.
I don’t see any resemblance between George VI and Charles III.
The Duke of Edinburgh though resembles his grandfather greatly.
The King looks like Prince Philip’s maternal family and he has a strong Coburg look.
Every time I think about these cousins marrying each other it makes my stomach turn and then I remember that it was custom for parents to wed their children off to someone that was their status or higher for various, sometimes illogical, reasons. They all seemed to have had some slight or deep inferior complex. Queen Victoria had so many children and grandchildren. The dating pool would have been pretty small if they had not married each other.
This was fantastic, thank you for all the hard work
Amazing video, could you make a video on royals with disabilities? It would be an interesting and rarely covered part of history
Yes, I am planning to do so
@@LindsayHolidayyou better include insanity, and research Harry well!!😂😂
@@LindsayHolidayespecially on prince John he’s my favourite royal and also do mention the movie “The lost prince”
Queen Victoria's bloodline lives on
First off, the only reason we want the great great grandchildren of Queen Victoria is because you are so great at telling stories. You have only yourself to blame for the hype. If you didn't do such a fantastic job, we wouldn't enjoy as much 😉❤️
As a German I wish to compliment you on pronouncing 'Hohenzollern'. Thank you for efforts 😊
HM Elizabeth II was in Kenya when she became queen, not South Africa
Fun Fact Princess Katherine of Greece and Denmark was the last surviving great grand daughter of Queen Victoria and Princess Irene died in 1974. interesting videos and information is very interesting
Crown Prince Wilhelm of Germany did not actually run for president. He expressed interest in doing so, but his father, the ex-Kaiser, forbade it. Although for a time under arrest in Hohenzollern Castle, he actually died in a small five room house.
Wow! At 21:44, I thought that was a photo of the late Queen, not Princess Mary. That is some strong, STRONG genetics right there
do you think you could do a video on the grey family? quite a historically influential family yet quite unknown, even a couple schools in south africa with the grey name in it and similar coat of arms.
That's an interesting idea!
As always, so well done! 👍🏼
May HM King Olav V rest in peace and long live HM king Harald V
Elizabeth and Philip were in Kenya not South Africa when her father died.
We need a full video on Queen Marie of Romania ❣️
Crown Prince Wilhelm and King Charles resemble each other!
thank you.
Henry Duke of Gloucester looks so much like his brother John.
You are BRILLIANT !
At 26:48 you say that King Haakon VII and his son Olav went to Sweden. They went north to Tromsø in Northern Norway and from there to the United Kingdom.
It’s really surprising how big the family. Is Princess Elizabeth was in Kenya when King George VI died
20:50 correction, George did not die when she was in South Africa, he died when she was on a visit in Kenya. Hope that helps!
King Olav of Norway was very loved by the people, so is his son King Harald. The Norwegian Royal family are the head of the Lutheran Christian Church. I think they are showing love for ALL the Norwegian people in a very beautiful way.
Pls do a video on the descendants of queen Victoria’s half siblings
Prince Joachim couldn’t speak English so of course that meant he would learn Gaelic instead to gain a throne = best laid plans 😂😊
Sadly, prince Joachim committed suicide after he suffered from severe depression
It’s about to storm really really bad here in Houston and I’m scared, so I’m so glad I have this to distract myself!
2:15
Soccer or gridiron?
Can you do a video about queen Elizabeth the queen mother parent, siblings and they're descendants I love your videos ❤
can you do a video on Mary of Teck?
Next video: the 9 shortest reigning Kings of england ( with me of course)
SO FEW OF THEM LIVED LONG LIVES.
Thank you for this vídeo! I can only imagine the time and effort that was put in to the making of it.
Would you consider doing a video on the Kennedy family?
Yes, it will be out in July!
Thank you!
If you're impatient waiting for Lindsay's video, UsefulCharts just released a really good video about the Kennedy family as well!
Been waiting for this one
Aww, I feel horrible for John 😢
That was fascinating, I only knew bits of it. I'm just going to watch parts 2 and 3. Thank you for your brilliant narratives.
I'm happy you enjoyed Scotland. It's a beautiful country, steeped in tradition. Have you heard or read of James Graham, Marquis of Montrose? I'm descended from him, and John Graham of Claverhouse (Bonnie Dundee) was one of the other Graham branch. If I'm right, there was Montrose, monteith and Claverhouse. I'm definitely not up on all the family, it's mostly what's been handed down.
I don't think you'll find (king) Constantine of Greece in London as he died last year.
🤯🤯NO TV BACK THEN🤯🤯
Watching the video I'm just saying "awhhh" in different tones 😭
15:19 Princess Katherine was the last surviving great granddaughter of Queen Victoria, Queen Victoria’s last surviving great grandchild was Carl Johan Arthur, Prince Bernadotte, Count of Wisborg who died in 2012.
Is there video for Queen Victoria's grandchildren???
Yes there is a video of victoria grandchildren in the playlist queen victoria
Whose the one 6xGreat Grandchild?!
August Brooksbank born February 2021, son of Princess Eugenie daughter of Prince Andrew Duke of York and Sarah Ferguson and Jack Brooksbank. August now has a baby brother named Ernest born November 2021.
Thank you!
Thank you so much, most interesting
Didn't King Constantine of Greece, the one that had to give up the throne and who sued Greece, pass away recently? You didn't say anything about that in the video, but i remember him dying last year. I think it was.
He died January 10th 2023.
Pls do parts 2 and 3 of this video
I noticed a spelling error in the word assassinate in the title card on one of the grandsons. Will you be able to fix it please?
Would you consider doing a video on the descendants of King Christian IX of Denmark? You've done some of them but not in the detail that you're sharing for Queen Victoria's descendants. I would love that and I hope I'm not the only one asking.
I really enjoy your videos and as someone that is fluent in German, you should just pronounce the cities and the names the English way.
27:31 Maybe just me but I find it pretty interesting how Prince William is mentioned as 1st and also 681st in line to the British throne 👑
2 of her granddaughters are saints of the Orthodox Church-grand dutchess Elizabeth and Empress Alexandria. Both were very holy and amazing women.
Queen Victoria wasn’t connected to the Habsburg.
She was, but very distantly...
I was referring to the immediate family.
