90s. The decade that everyone started to not care about guitar solos. But many of us here did. And still do. Great work
thanks, Cheers!
James Murphy fuck yea 🤘 ; Andreas Kisser with the only and one true Sepultura lineup awesome. great video 👍🤘
Thx, Cheers!
Shawn Lane definitely needs a place here, absolute beast
Merry christmas! 🤘🎅🤘
That Janick Gers live performance was killer, man! Great video!
thanks boss. Cheers!
Damn!!! Tracy G surprised me as hell, super underrated player, I love his style and "Strange Highways" it's a masterpiece!
Yeah, Cheers!
Great to see Kiko Loureiro on the list... his 90s stuff with Angra is often overlooked. I suggest everyone to check his solo on the track "Deep Blue" from the album Holy Land. A melodic masterpiece!!
Merry christmas! 🤘🎅🤘
Cool selection of players for sure. I would have added Joe Stump, Jeff Loomis, Michael Amott, Norifumi Shima, Michael Romeo, Timo Tolkki, Henjo Richter, Kelly Simonz, and Chuck Schuldiner
some of those are in earlier vids. :) Cheers!
awesome @@RuthlessMetalYT
Miika Tenkula from Sentenced is also one of my favs from the 90s and very underrated
Cheers!
Totally agree
Cheers!
Thank you Nice to see me in this with other great player.
Oh, hello there legend. An honor to have you here. :)
Great video!
That Steve Morse solo was pure magic🎸
thanks. Cheers!
Still no Russ Parrish??? Pretty much any sheedy solo from Fights first album proves his worth of being top on any list of killer players. Another great one!!!
YAARRRGGGG!!!!!!!
Merry christmas! 🤘🎅🤘
⚡️🔥⚡️🔥⚡️🔥🎸⚡️🔥⚡️🔥🎸
Cheers 🤘🏻
All of them has a great talented 🤘🏻
Cheers 🤘🏻
Glad to see the great James Murphy here. He played in many bands and his 2 solos albums are so great. He is the man who covered a song of where the original guitar player was the genius Allan Holdsworth, Red Alert by The Tony Williams Lifetime
Cheers!
Yet again a cool video . Thanks for defending. True Metal

Stay Heavy! Cheers!
I'm watching a series on the history of the electric guitar solo on a channel called polyphonic. In the latest episode it talked about how guitar solos as we knew them were disappearing from mainstream rock and metal in the 90s. One of the reasons I hated the nu-metal scene was because they didn't bother with solos. But this proves that the guitar solo was alive and well in metal in the 90s. So even if there were more influential guitarists before and after, these are true guitar heroes for keeping solos as we knew them alive when they were going out of fashion in too much if the mainstream scenes.
Cheers!
cheers
Janick......? NOT a hero... Tracy G one of the most under-rated 90s guitar players there ever was. his tone/riffs on Strange Highways are absolutely crushing! Absolutely love James Murphy. He has such an awesome neck pickup tone.
Cheers!
What about Buckethead?? Sometimes many of the legends do solos to no where. Buckethead’s stuff is memorable. Considering he has like a million releases.
I dislike that guy. :D
@@RuthlessMetalYT I know his act is cheesy but he’s an undeniable talent.
naah@@pppl6664
no Larry LaLonde?
Merry christmas! 🤘🎅🤘
Matthias IA : the Boss
Cheers!
What about Dave Martone, Buckethead, Shawn Lane, Ethan Brosh, Joe Satriani?
I think Joe Satriani was in another video or maybe copyrighted. can't fit all into one video, buckethead wouldnt be in any though. hehe
If you like tasty fusiony instrumental metal/rock, al pitrelli does some fantastic work with C.P.R. (Coven Pitrelli Riley) only one album but its a fantastic album. Hell they even have zakk wylde help do a cover of stevie wonder lol and randy coven was an absolute monster on the bass. Rip randy
Cheers!
Janick Gers a guitar hero?
Still needs Kai Hansen & Henjo Richter, Michael Weikiath & Roland Grapow, Rolf Kasparek, Jon Schaffer and Randall Shawver, Adam Jones, Matt Pike, Gaz Jennings, Trey Azagthoth and Abbath Doom Occulta.
yeah, if you play for iron maiden you're automatically a guitar hero. :)
@@RuthlessMetalYT Or with Ian Gillan and Bruce´s solo band. He´s a great guitarist!
Being a ''Guitar hero'' means more than just playing! Like him or not but Janick has an unique style, writing skills, great personality and he is absolutely loyal to the band for like 35 years! That's all you can ask for as a band leader and that's why Steve kept him....
What was the name of the "Freak" guitarist about halfway through? I'm always interested in finding a new voice in innovative metal guitar. Grunge and alternative did not "kill it".
their names is shown in the video. :)

Where is Steve brown from trixter?!
who?
I hope Wes Borland is in here
no rappers allowed
@@RuthlessMetalYT But Europe is?
yup.
@@RuthlessMetalYT Europe isn't even metal are they . LB may be Nu metal, but at least they kinda qualify in the genre
Europe are very Much old school metal . Rap rock is NOT!
What's the Al Pitrelli song?
Cheers!
Savatage - The storm
Dave Navarro and Jerry Cantrell aren’t shredders, but they were very influential to guitarists like me in the 90’s.
Alice in Chains are borderline but I don’t see Dave Navarro as a ‘metal guitarist’ and the channel is called Ruthless Metal. I don’t really understand why some people are coming here and wondering why its metal shredders, and why there are people here who have never heard of Iron Maiden or Sepultura. I think you have got lost guys.
sure, but not really metal either. :)
@@RuthlessMetalYT yeah, they’re on the cusp.
Yeah, they are borderline. And I’m aware of the name of the channel. Just saying those guys were a big influence on guys like me that also played metal on guitar in the 90’s. Have a good one.
cheers
Timo Tolki ?
in a previous video.
janick gers? vamos anda
Cheers!
janick was more than a guitar hero, he sounded like he came out directly from the 70s hes more like a british ted nugent with a heart of metal
can you be more than a guitar hero? ;) Is'nt that the roof? hehe
@@RuthlessMetalYTidk blackmoore is more than a guitar hero, hes a fragment of apollonian ecstasy ahaha
Janick Gers - that new guy in Maiden :D
yup hehe Cheers!
I’ve never heard of any of these bands or the guitarist Are you sure we’re talking about the 1990s
You have never heard of Europe, Iron Maiden, Danzig, Sepultura, Blind Guardian or Opeth? Are you sure you are a metal fan?
You do know this is a channel for people who like heavy metal. All these guitarists and bands made music in the 1990s, yes. Metal music. If you want to see some shyte indie or grunge guitar players from the 90s I suggest you look elsewhere.
@@jimmycampbell78 yeah I love heavy-metal I was a teenager in the 90s I’m 50 years old I play guitar I’ve heard of iron maiden I’ve heard of danzing and Europe and that’s about it
@@jimmycampbell78 well, I must’ve touched a nerve with you. Why are you so angry? I just asked a question don’t be so territorial just because I haven’t heard of the music that you like didn’t mean to offend you and yeah, I listen to garage then I still do to this day. Give me Soundgarden Alice In Chains all day.
damn, I hope you recovered from the coma. ;) Cheers!
@@RuthlessMetalYT well, I wasn’t in a coma might’ve been under the influence most of the 90s but! Not saying those aren’t good bands, they’re obviously great guitarist but even if it’s not the type of music, I like you would think I would’ve heard of them.
Where tf is Jerry Cantrell m8 , one of the greatest guitarists of the 90s and not only and is missing from both the videos.
grunge aint metal. ;)
Please do w.a.s.p. Rank em all video
maybe some day. :) Cheers!
