Stay Heavy! Cheers!
Totally agreed on the top duo, Tipton & Downing are the twin axe gods
Cheers!
The best song to show the power of Downing-Tipton is The Sentinel.
classic
My all time favourite Judas Priest masterpiece.
Shermann and Denner are a great duo. Happy to see them on the list.
🤘🤘
THE BEST
Always overlooked, and underrated.
Sherman and Denner are very underrated.
@@josephbobbitt7759 They're not, at least in my book. An EASY top 3 on this list. My biggest problem is why there is a beef between both Downing/Tipton AND Denner/Shermann right now. It just makes no sense to me.
Gary Moore & Scott Gorham, Snowy White & Scott Gorham, John Sykes & Scott Gorham.
Cheers!
Agreed! Plus Brian Robertson and Scott Gorham
Michael Wilton and Chris DeGarmo of Queensrÿche should be on this list. Brilliant compositions, tight playing, and creative output.
yes, legends. 🤘
I love Wishbone ash、Thin lizzy 、Judas priest、Iron maiden、
& now Miyako and Midori from LOVEBITES is BEST DUO so far‼️
Cheers!
I like Andy LaRocque & Pete Blakk too. Them, Conspiracy and The Eye!
yes, they rule
Yes King Diamond. The Eye was a perfect album. Missed my younger years when Fatal Portrait and Abigail was playing everyday. and The Candle was my anthem.
Thin lizzy was always one of the most underrated bands..and live they took it to a whole different level..i truly hope there is a rock and roll heaven..
🤘
Name of their song in the video please.

@@miroslavgeorgiev3162 Emerald - from the album Jailbreak
Andy LaRocque and Pete Blakk- King Diamond.....Them, Conspiracy, and The Eye records, awesome for me the best, although the current team of LaRocque and Mike Wead is also damn good too!
yes sir!
Steve Clark and Pete Willis from Def Leppard
Cheers!
Absolutely!!!!
Tipton & Downing.. Thanks
cheers
A bit shocked to not see Wolf Hoffmann / Herman Frank on that list
yeah they missed the list somehow.
Wolf Woffmann and Jorg Fischer, that was the die hard Accept will have. Not Herman
Great choices, especially including Robertson and Gorham in Lizzy. Phenomenal. I'd also consider Scorpions Matthias Jabbs and Rudolph Schenker. They don't get enough recognition in my opinion.
yes, not my choices though. ;) cheers
Frank Hannon/Tommy Skeoch from TESLA!
Hermann Frank/Wolf Hoffmann from ACCEPT!
Mickey Moody/Bernie Marsden from Whitesnake
Cheers!
Midori & Miyako from Lovebites🤘
\m/🐺\m/ dreg👁
You're obsessed...
Yes M and M from LOVEBITES outplay everyone of them. At the same level is Hizaki and Teru from Versailles. Saki and Hazuki is too modern to compare these old guys with. Oh when Hazuki and Lisa-X are playing in KOIAI is a joy for the ears. Sorry, but there are so many more duos that outplay these guys. My dream duo is Syu from GALNERYUS and Hal-Ca from Asterism. Those 2 is something else.... And by the way. I am 60+ yo and if I were nostalgic this list would be OKI but the guitarists of today is on another level.
Gary Holt and Rick Hunolt from Exodus
Cheers!
H-Squad
Good day to die, nice double solo by both
@@ruthlessjun8835 good song
Miyako and Midori from Lovebites and Wagner and Hunter early Alice Cooper
🤘🤘
Judas Priest
Iron Maiden
Totally agree 👍👍
🤘🤘
marcus siepen and andré olbrich (blind guardian) and eric peterson and alex scolnick (testament) are some of my all time favorites🤘
and tho they were not mentiond i would have to say Peter Szigeti and Rudy Graf (warlock) is another great duo!
yes, excellent guitarists! 🤘
I feel like Doug Scarratt and Paul Quinn of Saxon are very underrated.
saxon have always been slightly underated always in the shadow of iron maiden but are just as good listen to the new album
cheers
Midori/Miyako of LOVEBITES 🤘
no 🤘
@@RuthlessMetalYTyes
Paul Quinn and Graham Oliver from Saxon.
yes sir! Cheers!
I always like listing Honorable Mentions that are actually not mentioned. In no order.
Criss Oliva/Chris Caffery-Savatage
Dave Pritchard/Phil Sandoval-Armored Saint
Larry Barragan/Rob Trevino-Helstar
Mike Nyrkkanen/Scott Nyquist-Wrath
Chris Holmes/Randy Piper/WASP
Stefan Kaufman/Igor Gianola-U.D.O
Fernando von Arb/Mark Kohler-Krokus
Mark Reale/Rick Ventura-Riot
Forgot about Von Arb and Kohler! Those guys ripped on Headhunters and the Blitz. I don't listen to Krokus often anymore but when I do I'm always struck by how good those 2 were.
@@joevargo3323Headhunter probably my favorite
🤘
I'm glad Mille Petrozza and Frank Blackfire made an honourable mention. The short time they played together in Kreator was some of the best guitar work in their history. Extreme Aggression was a brutal album for it's time.
indeed. Cheers!
If one is open to power metal, Herman Li and Sam Totman from DragonForce are a great duo.
🤘
My personal pick is - Kai Hansen/Michael Weikath (Helloween)
But also want to add Rudolf Shenker/Matthias Jabs (Scorpions)
and Adrian Vandenberg/Steve Vai (Whitesnake)
Cheers!
Warren de martini and Robbin crosby from ratt
cheers
Michael Denner and Hank Sherman - Mercyful Fate
Michael Denner and Andy LaRocque - King Diamond
Gary Holt and Rick Hunolt - Exodus

So glad Thin Lizzy was close to the top. Robbo, Gary, Sykes plus Gorham. All paired well.
🤘
Miyako and Midori, from Lovebites.
no baby metal allowed here.
@@RuthlessMetalYT You don't know what you're talking about. Fortunately, stupidity and ignorance are not contagious.
so are bad music.
Love Megadeth, happy they were represented....also love Midori & Miyako from LOVEBITES. 🐺🏴🤘

All Classic Metal with Thin Lizzy (Emerald) Wishbone Ash(Classic Rock) great twin guitar band.

@@miroslavgeorgiev3162 It is Emerald, another poster thought.
Miyako Watanabe and Midori Tatesamtu both from the japanese band lovebites are in my opinion the best dual of the new generation of metal bands
Where does all these Lovebite fans come from?
@@RuthlessMetalYT the band has been gaining popularity for several years now since they debuted in 2017 and won Metal Hammer’s Golden Hammer award for best new band in 2018, they are the first ever all female band from japan to perform at three of the largest festivals in the world in 2018, their latest album was the number one album sold on itunes in over 15 countries including USA and Canada and is the #15/50 best metal albums of 2023 their song Sand and Deliver is the #15 best metal songs of 2023, they have songs being played on SiriusXM radio in the US and Canada. So between word of mouth from fans (Wolfpack)and reaction videos from youtube they have managed to gain a worldwide following and besides any fans of these great guitarists in this video would see how much of an influence these guys have on these women and it’s a good thing that they are inspiring younger artists to carry on the tradition of great guitar work
Obviously never heard Allegaeon.
Greg Burgess and Michael Stancel shit all over this whole list.
I have not heard of Allegaeon but they can shit on any list they want for what ever reason they want that’s just their own insecurities and jealousy talking because it all comes down to their sensitive male egos because they don’t make “The List”
The internet choices were great pics. All of them. Honorable mentions were excellent too. You could also all Mike and Chris Amott. The 1st 3 Arch Enemy albums are pure gold.
Cheers!
Miyako and Midori from Lovebites has raised the bar, and brought innovation and new life to Metal Music, combined with the classic Metal from the good old days, and No, they are not Babymetal.
it's baby metal bs.
Forgetting about Midori and Myiako from Lovebites is a serious oversight.
\m/🐺\m/ dreg👁
not top 1000. :D Cheers!
Then I assume you have never heard their solos.@@RuthlessMetalYT
nah, that's kids stuff. baby metal crap
I bet you like Babymetal too. :D @thecybermantis
Nahh you forget Schenker - Roth / Schenker - Jabs of Scorpions
people gotta vote better next time. ;) Cheers!
I had to scroll down a ways to find someone mention the Scorpions before I wrote about them. I knew I couldn’t be the only fan.
When you do check the lovebites-japanese female metal band-Miyako and Midori, than you will change your mind,im sure in that.
Now this duo is the best in the world
you have zipped too much on that whiskey. ;)

You forgot Paul Gilbert and Bruce Bolluet of Racer X
Geoff Thorpe and Mark McGhee of Vicious Rumors
🤘🤘
Awesome. It’s completely awesome to see Jason Becker and Marty Friedman on here. My favorite duo of all time. Usually only guitarists only know about Becker and his whole story. When I saw that I knew Friedman could be on two lists, and alas I was correct. Awesome list!

Dual guitar harmony was pioneered by Wishbone Ash.
cheers
No, "Allman Brothers" were the first ones.
too soft. ;)@@user-qs8zu2pg7v
@@user-qs8zu2pg7v Allman Brothers don't really fit into the hard rock/heavy metal category. Wishbone Ash has been cited as an influence by members of Iron Maiden and Judas Priest.

These guys created songs that were built to last. Dissident Aggressor defines metal imo. The two albums released under the Denner/Shermann moniker are loaded with juicy riffs as well. Great list, including honorable mentions.
🤘
There would be Alexi Laiho/Roope Latvala, Michael Amott/Jeff Loomis in my list
cheers!
Simply the best! Great bands with two guitarists are also: Helloise (Netherlands) and Formel 1 (GDR).
cool bands. Cheers!

Swap the top two and you have a list. Murray and Smith have better longer more intricate songs, more time changes and melodic parts too. The fact that Maiden are widely recognised as the greatest metal band ever goes to prove that. I do love and respect the Priest but Maiden are just a level above.
Nah, Priest is above Maiden! ;) 🤘🤘
Buck Owen's and Roy Clark from Hee Haw 😅😂 🎸 🎸 playing Far Beyond Driven 🤟💣

Joe Maphis, and Merle Travis.(Joe, and Trav). Chet Atkins, and Les Paul (Chester, and Lester).

I know that they were in the HMs list, but DeGarmo and Wilton would have been my number one.

I never hear much about Brent Hinds and Bill Kelliher from Mastodon. They’re both stellar musicians, easily as talented as anyone else on this list.
Shitty band. :) Cheers!
@@RuthlessMetalYTshitty band how??
I can't say that I've heard more than a song or two but that was enough for me. :D
It's hard to argue with Downing/Tipton in the top spot. They would probably be my pick, if I had to choose just one duo. It just doesn't get more iconic.
Some of my other favorites showed up in honorable mentions: Wilton/DeGarmo, Skolnick/Peterson, Quinn/Oliver. So many more that could be mentioned, but maybe not all of them have quite reached that iconic status as a duo. Johansson/Björkman from Candlemass comes to mind. I love the LaRocque/Blakk era of King Diamond as well.
Cheers!
Judas duo best composers, their musical taste truly impeccable 🤟

Tipton God yes!!
Hands down Judas Preist!!!

I’d replace Hanneman/King (influential but I’d not call them the best) with Midori/Miyako from Lovebites
And I’d add Scholnick/Petersen, LaRocque/Schuldiner, LaRocque/Drover
I say I’d replace king/Hanneman simply because Hanneman was fantastic but King (love him) his solos just don’t have the swagger
No Lovebites stuff here. baby metal is banned from this channel.
Yeah, that sounds about right.
But, damn, there's some very fine metal in this list!🤘🤘
I noticed in the clip of Kai Hansen and Michael Weikath that Marcus Großkopf also got in there with the base. It was almost a thruple.
yeah, can't edit them out. hehe
Great video! Hard to disagree with any of these picks! Two that should have been honorable mentions since hard rock is included are Snake Sabo and Scottie Hill from Skid Row and of course Slash and Izzy Stradlin from G&R.
🤘🤘
Eric Peterson and Alex Skolnick is my fav duo from the 80’s

Yes, it made me happy to see Bruce and Rick from Trouble in the honorable mentions!
Yngwie Malmsteen /Yngwie Malmsteen……any duo from Scandinavia or United Kingdom , Germany ..your picks are great I’d agree with most…I wonder if we’re missing out on some from obscure bands/countries that aren’t really famous for big metal/ hard rock bands

I think Matthias Jabs and Rudolf Schenker are one of the best guitar duos as well, but i can understand that this list may not be able to cover everything.

Chris Rorland and Thobbe Englund/Tommy Johansson (Sabaton)
Michael Amott and Chris Amott/Jeff Loomis (Arch Enemy)
Herman Li and Sam Totman (DragonForce)
Oscar Dronjak and Stefan Elmgren/Pontus Norgren (HammerFall)

I love your top ten and I am in agreement with all of them. Her is some that you have forgotten about. The late Steve Clarke and Phil Colleen of Def Leppard, Paul Quinn and Graham Oliver of Saxon and Scott Gotham and Brian Robertson of Thin Lizzy. There are many more I could mention but I am sure others could do the same.

I’m okay with this list.
And can we give Glenn Tipton his due before it’s too late. The guy is a monster player and rarely gets mentioned.
A true guitar God.

I agree, nice list of guitar legends.... except for Hanneman & King. I love Slayer, but not because of their guitar duos but for their speed and groovy headbanging rythms.
They are great though.
