Chris Impelliteri (Impelliteri), Oz Fox (Stryper), Gary Leniare (Tourniquet) are great guitar players at 80s
Oz Fox and Gary Leniare...Good ones.
more episodes incoming.
Lot's of great ones. Doesn't get much better than Smith and Murray on that 'Killers' album for me, and I love DiAnno.
Guitar does ! Not a bad idea.
@@seagullpoet Guitar Duos, right? I think Jim has done those rankings, I'll have to go back and check.
Cheers!
I haven't done any guitar duo videos, maybe in the future.
Was my first metal album I got when I was 9 for Xmas great album
The 80's sure were the "shred era". Great video man!
indeed. thank you Sir! Cheers!
Before the kids all started sitting at home playing video games. I dont think there was any other era other than the 70s where people dedicated so much time to their craft. What was there to do? Watch 1 of 12 tv channels, hang out friends or listen to records on repeat and learn to play them lol and not like music was mobile then either besides radio. If you could play a song on the spot, you were amazing lol
Yeah, there's just so much other things to do these days. we had 2 TV channels when I was a kid and both of 'em sucked. haha
The Great Kat still is shredding today
FINALLY some love for Craig Goldy I personally prefer him to Viv and Dream Evil is my fav DIO album. So sick of people hating on him because he had the temerity to replace Viv WTF someone had to so great to see him in your list. Also Maiden are my fav band and Im super bias when it comes to them so would have been well pissed if Adrian and Dave weren't here so well done ;-) how about thrash or death guitar hero's sometime?
Goldy is super underrated. His solo in that version of Dont Talk to Strangers is so clean. Probably the best version of that song youll find.
Cheers!
Great list, but honorable mentions in my mind are for Kjell Lövbom, Magnus Danneblad, Magnus Jarl, Konas Hansson, Lars Johansson, Mats Björkman, Thomas ’Mats’ Karlsson anfäd Thomas Drèven etc etc.
lots of Swedes. ;) more episodes coming soon with some of those guys.
You must be a Swede hahahahaha
@@andrettski8686 No… actually Aussie, but Nordic rock and metal is my obsession - trust me, I could give dozers of examples of bands I like, and am currently learning all three Scandi languages (to varying degrees) enough on me… what are some of your favorite bands?
@@dragonqueen6589 Nice
Great to see Andy LaRocque, Dave Murray, Adrian Smith, Chris Holmes and Jeff Hanaman on this list. So many greats from the 80s.
Cheers!
Vito is the best on this list. Amazing work
Cheers!
Very good list, with the exception of Mick Mars. Mick Mars is a good guitar player, only good.
Cheers!
How great to see and remember Vito Nuno and D Murray in the list...Good job
Cheers!
I see you saved the best for last...
hehe
Part 1 and 2 of Guitar Heroes of the 1980's are some of the best heavy metal shredders on Earth with a few more 80's bands that I truly love like Jeff Waters from Annihilator, Geoff Thorpe from Vicious Rumors, Herman Frank and Wolf Hoffmann from ACCEPT and quite a few more but too many to mention here, I could go on all day as I have a huge list as it's my favorite era along with the early 90's,. it's like electricity flowing through fingers at lightning speed with top notch guitar riffs, a lot of hard practice too get that good, I wish I could learn, Fantastic video, cheers. ❤🤘🎸⚡
more coming soon. Cheers!
@@RuthlessMetalYT Oh excellent, cheers.
Great job.. it is always great to remember the 80's , to me.. the best..
Cheers!
Great video dude!!! I agree it’s hard to make a complete list cause there is so many badass players in this era it could go on forever….. good job brother, keep it up
thx. Cheers!
The list is awesome. Vivian campbell in Dio's band solidified his career. although im not an extreme guy. nuno betancourt is cool too. Mustaine was ok in his time . the guy from Anihilator Jeff Waters is awesome too. hes very underrated in my opinion. overall a great list.
yes, jeff waters will be in the upcoming 90s video. Cheers!
Good job man, love your content like always, keep it coming! 🤘
cheers
Vito is the my favorite player ever. Super melodic. riffs for days. beautiful solos. He could shred when he wanted to. Never predictable. Great songs. The man is incapable of playing a boring solo. He's everything you want out of a rock guitar player and then some.
Cheers!

Amazing selection, congratulations!!!!!!!!!
Cheers!
Great video. Great guitarists.
Cheers!
Love it!
I had totally forgotten about Michael Angelo and his crazy shredding antics.
haha, yeah he is a mad man. Cheers!
How about Hank Sherman? He is at least my 80's guitar hero. 🍻
yeah, him and denner were gods for sure.
yeah that is great work
Cheers!
I think Piggy (Voivod) and Mantas (Venom) should have been mentioned. Piggy was unique in his playing, and I think Mantas often gets overlooked. I like his playing and his tone on those early Venom records.
yes. good stuff. cheers
Ad van den Berg (Vandenberg, Whitesnake) grew up 3 streets from where I live now.
He wrote his 1st big hit 'Burning Heart' here, in his parents home, in 1981. 😎
cool. :) Cheers!
LaRoque, Goldy and Holmes???? Greatest list ever!!!!!
YAARRRGGGG!!!!!!!
Cheers!
John norum ..Reb beach .... Dan Huff .. Andy Timmons .. Bruce kulic .. Kee Marcello .. Joe satriani ..Warren Demartini .. blues Saracens ...... etc
yes sir. Cheers!
Ron Jarzombek and his brother Bobby melted the faces off my whole High School when their band Tarot played at our School talent show back in 1982. I think he was a Senior that year. I’ve seen most of his other bands since, it is good to see him recognized. Many great names on the list as well!
Cool. Two underrated musicians.
@@RuthlessMetalYT watchtower played a reunion show 2 nights ago. I think they might be brushing up for Keep It True?
Cool it wasn't that long ago since they released that EP. Or maybe it has been a few years. :D time flies.
@@RuthlessMetalYT yes, I just realized that Tarot show was 40 years ago. It’s hard to believe
Cool
Great to see Goldy here! I forget if he was in part 1, but I'd mention Jack Starr and also Kane Roberts with that ridiculous (in a good way) machine gun guitar.
hehe. more episodes coming. ;) Cheers!
jack Starr i;ve seen him play a couple of clubs on Long Island good guitarist.
You need to continue the list, man. It's a crime if you don't put Eddie Van Halen on the list. You need to put KISS guitarists Vinnie Vincent and Bruce Kullick too. Also CC deVille (Poison), Joey Allen (Warrant). And the one we should never ever forget, Joe Satriani!
Eddie has already been on the list. Cheers!
Mathias jabs of the scorpions
cheers
All of these guitar players are remarkable and they have undeniable talent, dexterity and exceptional musical abilities. That being said, I highly appreciate a guitar solo that integrates into the song and enhances the tone of the overall song, and sometimes even taking the song in a completely new direction that could not have been predicted. Slash is one of the greatest guitar soloists that does just what I speak of. Cheers!
cheers
I agree. I don't think Jeff Hanneman has any of those qualities other than maybe dexterity. That guy wouldn't know a key if it jumped up and bit him in the face.
You got some fantastic guitarist on the second list I knew Dave mustain,Vito bŕatawould be on this list
Cheers!
Great picks. Nice to see Vito Bratta mentioned. A real shame that he just left music so quickly.
Cheers!
Why did he left the music so quickly?
I love the Phil appreciation, thanks for including him!
cheerios
Vivian Campbell is such a great guitar player! one of my guitar heroes. watching him shred on the live at the spectrum 1984 bootleg I had on vhs was inspiring for me growing up
a true legend.
Не умеет играть вовсе😂
Gary Holt- Rock Hunolt
exodus fuckin rule. ! Gary holt is a beast 🤘
I meant to say Rick Hunolt.
the h team were insane.
Vito Bratta absolutely!
cheers
Another great video brother! You are 100% right - you could easily make 10 videos on 80’s Metal Guitar Heroes. A great list on part 1 and 2 though. Anyone that may think some guitarists are missing better go watch the Guitar Heroes of the 70’s to see if they might be in that list. We know Metal really started in the 70’s and was just refined in the 80’s, 90’s, and beyond. Keep up the great work!
yeah I might make two more episodes on the subject, at least for now. missing too many great names. hehe Cheers!
Rik Emmett, Reb Beach, Brad Gillis, Jeff Watson, Joe Satriani, John Petrucci, Mark Reale, Neal Schon
more incoming. Cheers!
Awesome series 👏 . Maybe a separate series for bass players 🤔
maybe next summer, we'll see. :D Cheers!
If you want to hear how great Kirk Hammett isn’t, go listen to “No life till leather”. Mustaine is playing all the guitar for Kill Em all on that album. It makes you realize Hammett sounds like a bad photo copy of the original.
Cheers!
Good selection, except for including hammett and slash 😅😝... I still liked your video 🤟✌😸
yeah, you can't question their hero status within heavy guitar though.
I still don't understand how a video at 25-30 fps can't keep up with hand Michael Angelo Batio! I remember the first time I watched this video, I could not come to my senses for a long time! Thank you for the video! 🤟👍
haha, yeah, he is a wild man. Cheers!
Glad my boy tmac tony macalpine got in. And points to you for listing vinnie moore in his bands, as he played keyboards and not guitar on his albums. But they do play guitar together live, its on yt, and its pretty spectacular
Cheers!
Try out the guitar heroes of thrash death and black metal
there are some thrash, death and black metallers here but for me it's not synonymous with shred or the term 'guitar heroes'. Cheers!
Another fine list for sure and the list could keep going, but you must move on. However other people that coulr have beeb listed are Scott Ian. He haf tons of great riffs in the 80's and Chris Impellitteri. A shredder for sure. Cheers
we'll see, I might make more 80s episodes. There's just an endless supply of guitar heroes from this decade. :D
Chris Holmes is often overlooked. He's a 70's school of guitar but has nasty attitude in his playing. 2min solo of "Sleeping in the fire" at Key Club La 2000 is lit. Kudos.
Cheers!
I remember that you promiss me Hanneman and King on this list,so I am glad to see Jeff here who honestly wrote the most of greatest Slayer's riffs but Kerry is still missing,I hope to see him in part 3!Nevermind,it is excelent list again. 😊
hehe. who knows what the future holds. ;) Cheers!
James hetfield was some sort of guitar hero, i mean he is the best rhythm guitar player when it comes to riffs and precision
Cheers!
I saw both parts of the guitar heroes and it's obvious that you can't put all of them but one guitar player must be on those lists, it's Gary Moore, he had in the seventies and eighties a rock career and he shred and even influenced other guitar players that are on the list, in 1979 Phil Lynott said that Gary Moore is the best rock guitarist in the world, of course Gary Moore had also a career as a blues/rock guitar player from 1990-2010 but he did only one great album in all that era of the blues, you can put his name on your list of guitar heroes of the nineties but it'll not do justice with the late Gary Moore, cause he was primarily a shred guitar player, thanks for sharing and cheers!!!
Gary Moore was in a previous episode. Cheers!
You need to make a part 3 dude; no list is complete without the likes of Doug Aldrich; Brad Gillis; and Reb phukking Beach.
it's coming soon. Cheers!
Steve Howe YES and David Gilmore Pink Floyd my favourite !!!
Cheers!
They're not shredders by any means...
Adrian Vendenburg (Whitesnake), Michael Schenker (UFO/Scorpions), Eddie Van Halen, Rik Emitt (Triumph), Alex Lifeson (Rush).
Some of 'em has already been in the series. ;) Cheers!
My favorite here
Vito Bratta (❗ ) Andy LaRocque, Tony MacAlpine, Adrian/Dave...they are my favorites ever besides Akira Takasaki, Jake E Lee, George Lynch, M.Schenker and Jabs (my main influences).
Cheers!
Great video! Kee Marcello and Vinnie Vincent should be part of the team too
it's coming
Dave Murray, how could anyone not like that adorable face? 😂
The chipmunk of metal! Cheers!
Vito bratta is the one and onley!
Cheers!
No Mark Kendall? Mark is awesome. Very under rated
kinda a shitty band though. haha ;)
Michael Denner and Hank Shermann (Mercyful Fate), Wolf Hoffman (Accept), Graham Oliver (Saxon).
I never was a fan of the million notes a second type of shredders Like Malmsteen. It's just boring to listen to.
Ok, you can play fast, but can you make someone feel somber, and make's you wanna cry by a slower, more emotive solo?
But it still was lots of fun remembering these guys.
Thanks!
yeah, songwriting is more important than the ability to shred. Cheers!
@@RuthlessMetalYT 100% agree
Eddie Van Halen 🤘🏻

Was there a list aboit one or two albums only ranked done before?
huh?
Max Cavalera and Andreas Kisser from Sepultura.

Great video, but still no Montalo of Witchfynde, and Kevin Heybourne of Angel Witch
kevin heybourne is a legend. Cheers!
Kane Roberts (Alice Cooper)
Billy Duffy (The Cult) - no shredder but with remarkable guitar intros

OK, So no part III, well part one and two left off to many! Start with Satriani, Lynch, Rick Emmett, Kia Hanson, Eddie Van Halen, Steve Vai, both KK and Glen, Sammy Hagar, Michael Scheinker, Mattias Jabbs, Jake E Lee, Randy Rhodes, Malmsteen, Stevie Ray, Alex Lifeson,Brian Setzer,Dimebag Darrell,Brad Gillis, and many more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 80's was full of great guitar players!
I won't use the same guys again so a lot of those won't be in the next video but some might. Part III and IV is coming, I changed my mind. There's just too many guitar heroes from this decade. Cheers!
AWESOME!!! Can't wait!
@@RuthlessMetalYT
01:15 please tell me if I remember correctly? Is that the guitar solo from "Haunted"? My memory fails me sometimes.
Yes, it's "Haunted". Great song and one of my favorite LaRocque's solos. Love it.
Cheers!
Steve Stevens,Derek Frigo?🧐

Craig Goldy playing a Vivian Campbell solo...
Cheers!
Vito Bratta!
Cheers!
Anyone know the songs that played during the Ron Jarzombek, Vito Bratta, Craig Goldy and Chris Holmes bits?
not sure, I just compile things and move on. haha
Their are so many great guitarist to come out of the 80s you could make four òr five or 20 more I didn't see satriani,Kerry king but like you said you could have made alot more lists from the 80s, in my opinion their are more great guitarist that came out of the 80s than any other decade, hands down, I may be biased buy I think I am rite,Traci guns,Jon Levin that's 2 more
yeah, two more 80s episodes are coming up soon. Cheers!
Ronny Tekrø of TNT

glad to see Tony MacAlpine - But Slash...ew

Listening to Phil Collen's solo, you can clearly see that he is strongly influenced by Gary Moore.
Cheers!
Excuse Me. Axel Rudipell is too.Thanks.

Ron Jarzombek is my biggest influence as a guitarist..Glad he was on here (but that clip didn’t do him justice)
yeah, not always easy to find good clips of them.
No Joe Satriani??? LOL
his songs are blocked on youtube.
Vito!
Cheers!
Kirk Hammett was also in Exodus before joining Metallica. He actually replaced Dave Mustaine, who couldn't get along with the others in Metallica. Mustaine started Megadeth to compete with Metallica, but never matched their popularity, though he did come close.
Cheers!
Michael Angelo Batio ❤
Cheers!
sometimes i get the feeling that Jim breaks into my house and copies my cd/cassette collection to make these.
that's not the only thing I do in your house! ;) Cheers!
Kai Hansen & Michael Weikath ( Helloween)
cheers!
Loved the two videos! Takes me back...
Question: Did you leave out Vinnie Vincent cause he A: Is a looser... B: Wrote all the songs that kept Kiss alive after Aces departure... or C: Created one of the worst/best/most unforgettable (take your pick) guitarorgasm ever on Vinnie Vincent Invasion first 48 minutes album???
Honestly, Hate or Neglect? or just not good enough?
No critic, just a question, you present GREAT videos!!!
Love from Sweden 💖
Post for Ruthless Metal
I never cared much for KISS but I put names in these videos that I don't listen to personally so I'm not ruling anyone out. Skål!
Hahahahaha, Thats why I love your vids!!! And since youve missed out on Vinnies Solo effort after Kiss "Vinnie Vincent Invasion" it may be an inspiration for another list: "The guys who over did it"
Skål, Broder
Love from Sweden 💖
My fav from that era was actually two guys Syncin' like HELL!!!
KK Downing and Glen Tipton... Ok, they might not be Funtwo techs, but fuuuuuuck... Together they rocked every Judas Priest song, never knowing who plays the next solo - or if its a joint solo💪👍🙂
Love from Sweden 💖
hehe, ja vi får se vad som sker framåt. skål
And I also voted in for '90s guitarist Pata and Hide both from X Japan

Phil Collen the only man in Metal where his abs are harder then his music 😂😂

🧐 I didn't see them in part 1 & part 2 Guitar Heroes of the 1980's Kee Marcelo,Matthias Jabs & Richie Sambora🤔 they are underrated guitar player artist!
I might do more parts, there's just too many guitar heroes in this decade. Cheers!

Cheers!
My winners is 80's
1. Phil Campbell
2. Chuck Schuldiner
3. Kerry King

Zakk wylde , Gary moore, Brad gillis , EVH , Glen tipton & KK downing , etc . So many Guitar heroes missed off your lists who wrote stellar songs and riffs, are the ones listed your favorite bands and players ?. EVH set the bar and not even a honorable mention ?.
Several of those has already been in these lists, you gotta watch the earlier episodes as I say in every episode.
Most guitarists on your list will acknowledge EVH took things to a different level. Just a tip here, have a look at Guitar manufacturers Artist Signature guitars from the late eighties this will give a clear indication who would be on a most influential 80s list.
