Everyone from Fast Eddie Clarke of Motorhead, Mark Reale of Riot, Tommy Bolin of Deep Purple to Mick Box of Uriah Heep to mention a few. This is part 2 and in the first video we had guitar heroes like Ritchie Blackmore, KK Downing, Glenn Tipton, Tony Iommi, Randy Rhoads & Buck Dharma so make sure to watch that video too if you're missing some names in this video. But now it's time for part 2 of the guitar heroes of the seventies. Enjoy!

Stay Heavy! Cheers!
Glad to see you put Rory Gallagher on hear. I think Leslie West should be mentioned as the first hard rock/heavy metal guitar hero in history, really. Take care.
🤘
Leslie was a huge influence for Michael Schenker and KK Downing. He also played guitar on Ian Gillan´s track "Hang Me Out To Dry".
Rory was the man!!!
i saw part 1 didnt have Rory Gallagher glad he got him here Great player i agree also Leslie West great heavy guitar player 1st Mountain album i got was flowers of evil Epic
Tommy Bolin's stuff- everything he did on vinyl and more is really worth checking out. Timeless music and a huge guitar talent.
🤘🏻
Awesome! That guitar in Overkill by Fast Eddie Clarke gets me every time. It's impossible not to smile after listening to it. What an energy booster!
He lived up to his name. Cheers!
@@RuthlessMetalYT He sure did!
Cheers!
Rory and his band was the first concert I ever saw. Excellent list, cheers.
Cheers
Great to see Budgie! Massively underrated. Another one in the UK at least would be Francis Rossi and Rick Parfitt of Status Quo.
yeah but way too much boogie rock for this channel. hehe Cheers 🤘
Quo were my favourite band of the 70's, very underated guitar team..
Before they went to Boogie, they made some good Hard/Classic Rock in the early 70s.
Fo sho!
Bourge is one of the best!
Great to see Mick Box, Rory Gallagher, and Robin Trower included here as they are all amazing, yet often overlooked. Same goes for Frank Marino from your Part 1 video.
cheers!
Which song is Mick Box playing in this video? I need to find it. First time listening to this band, I can't get that melody out of my head.
July Morning@@oscarf2840
@@oscarf2840Mick Box (Uriah Heep) playing July Morning.
@@RuthlessMetalYTWhere Jimmy Page?
Great video (just as part One already was). If I should add some guitar heroes: Jan Akkerman (Focus) and of course Mick Taylor (The Rolling Stones). But as you said: Let´s go forward to the 80s!
if I ever do a part 3 maybe, now it's time to move on. hehe Cheers!
Remember Jan Akkerman from the Dutch band focus ( Hocus Pocus ) ... In 1972 the best global guitar player acc. to Rolling Stone ..But again a great vid. Thank so much..!
CHEERS
Good to see the Riot guitarist up there, that is a band that never got their due.
Yeah they were so ahead of their time. Cheers!
Tony Bourge was a riff lord. Heavy dude!
🤘
The best riffmeister for sure!
Johnny Winter would be nice in the list!
Cheers!
Yeah... Rory on fire with shadow play ❤❤ the best for me with Richie Blackmore
Cheers!
More heart and soul.. back in the 70s. 🤘🤘
🤘
Glad Mark Reale and Tom Scholz made Part II. Can't wait for the 80's, might need more 'Parts'...3, 4, or even 5.
yeah, I've just planned two parts for now but people will definitely complain about people who's not in the video. haha
@@RuthlessMetalYT Can't make everyone happy. CHEERS
That was outta sight man,
Keep up the awesome work, it's wonderful to hear these classic rock gods perform again. You are digging g up ghosts from the past for some of us.
Can't wait for the next one.
Suicidal 4 Life
✌️☮️🤘
thanks boss. yeah gotta showcase some of the dinosaurs of rock. hehe Cheers!
Alvin Lee from Ten Years After
Peter Green from Fleetwood Mac
🤘
I always bang my head to the intro music. Love this channel. 55 years old. Still metal.
Thanks boss! 🤘🏻
wow thanks for sharing this video, I thought that you had forgotten these legendary guitar heroes in the previous one but now i see that i was wrong, keep on rocking!!!!!!!!!
yeah, can't fit everyone into a ten minute video and there are more but it's time to move on to the 80's otherwise we'll get stuck in the 70s. hehe 🤘
Nice to see Trower get some recognition 💪🏻
🤘
Between Parts 1 & 2, I am ABSOLUTELY convinced that the '70s had the very best hard rock and heavy metal!!! Love the '80s too, don't get me wrong, but there is just something about the guitars in that decade that just soar above the others. Great job compiling those video clips and thank you for reminding me now how much I still need to download digitally so I can bring that music everywhere I go!
most of the 70s guys were active in the 80s too, so the 80s wins. ;) Cheers!
@@RuthlessMetalYT Very true! Thanks for the reply! 🤘
I think now you really covered all the most important 70s guys
there are a few more that people suggested but you gotta stop somewhere and move on to the 80's. haha Cheers 🤘
Great work as always, man!
thanks boss. Cheers 🤘
This music brings me back to alot of memories i don't remember lol...love it
hehe Cheers!
Jimmy Page not on the list? One of the greatest with very personal style and riffs.
copyright as I stated in the video.
I guess you didnt watch till the end.
Great stuff as always
thanks boss
I don’t know if he fits into early metal/heavy rock, but Peter Frampton was definitely in my 70’s guitar heroes list also. Great lists though - both part 1 and 2. Hard to squeeze everyone in because there were so many. 70’s was good times for being a guitar god.
Cheers!
🤘wow Fabulous R Montrose was Awesome albums🤘Incredible play guitar list🤘
Thx cheerios
Another GREAT list man!!!
Thx cheerios
Great list of awesome guitar gods
Cheers!
Tony Bourge of Budgie! What a choice!
yeah a bit underrated. Cheers!
My favorite
the late great Jeff beck was a huge influence i know you probably put him in there in your list i must have missed it ; Billy gibbons from ZZ Top an incredible player too. ronnie Montrose was a great talent too 👏 🤘great list
Jeff Beck was in the first video. yeah Billy Gibbons would be a name for part 3 if I ever do one. :)
Great list and good job putting Rory in, but I think you might have missed a couple. Alvin Lee , Uli Jon Roth, Rudy Schenker, Matthias Jabs, Paul Quinn, Graham Oliver and Mark Knopfler!! If I spaced out and any of these dudes were in first video I apologize!!!! Love your content and keep it coming, thanks
Uli was in part one, we'll see if I ever do a part 3. I try to keep it a little more hard rock and metal so. Cheers!
Very good list. 3 of my faves..Rory,Robin and Ronnie...👍🤘😁
cheers!
EXCELLENT SELECTION !!!
Cheers!
Awesome!!! 💯 percent 👍
Cheers 🤘
Thank you for Mick Box 😁✋
cheers
Finally someone mentioning Mark Reale ! Riot Rules
he is a god! Cheers!
This is such a fantastic video, thank you for this. Would Francis Rossi and Rick Parfitt also be considered guitar heroes of the 1970s?
maybe so. cheers
*Terry Kath of Chicago, Jan Akkerman of Focus, Duane Allman, Steve Howe, etc...*
Cheers!
Great! Tommy Bolin!
Cheers!
Rory, Mark Reale & Tony Bourge! YES!
Cheers!
Mick Moody & Bernie Marsden (Whitesnake), Francis Rossi & Rick Parfitt (Quo), Earl Johnson & Buddy Caine (Moxy), Pat Travers, Ross The Boss ( Dictators, Shakin' Street, Manowar), Gary "Moses Mo" Moore (Mother's Finest), Roger Romeo (Legs Diamond), Bill Nelson (Be-bop Deluxe), Richie Ranno (Starz, Hellcats), Mick Jones (Foreigner), Mick Ralphs (Mott the Hoople, Bad Company).
Cheers.
Some great names on this list. AMAZING clip of Rory Gallagher. Guys like him and Mick Box show there really was room for Part 2. Just sad that there's still no love for Glen Buxton.
Yeah gotta move on to the 80s next
Which song is Mick Box playing in this video? I need to find it. First time listening to this band, I can't get that melody out of my head.
The most criminaly underrated guitarist of all time is once again missing from guitarists charts....considering many top guitarists say he was a major influnce.....hardly anyone mentions Bill Nelson. His five albums as the Axeman in Be Bop Deluxe are classics.....real bangers.
Great to see these guys getting credit all the same.
This is a metal channel after all. Cheers!
@RuthlessMetalYT ....yeah that's 👍true🤟

huh?

Way too many guitarists, this is a metal channel after all so I won't go into those rock guitarists too much. Cheers!
Next part, Andy Powell and Ted Turner from Wishbone Ash. Maybe also Robert Fripp and Mick Ronson, they used to play quite heavy stuff at their time. :) I haven't seen Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Keith Richards and Santana, copyright issues?
page and hendrix removed due to copyrights and yeah, it's not a rock channel so. Plus we're moving along to the 80's in the next one. Cheers!
Good stuff. What about Dave Brock from Hawkwind?
sure, but I doubt I'll do more on the seventies guys. :)
💎💎🎸🎸Mister Rory Gallagher décédé trop jeune , même génie que Mister Ritchie Blackmore 🎸🎸😎😎💎💎

Saw Rory 20 times.. every time he ripped the place apart. Simply the best.

David Gilmour is a great guitarist and a good- looking man.

Not as good looking as Sid Barrett hahahaha
Your inclusion of Leslie west and Tom Scholz is always welcome

You sir have 66,6 k subscribers! How perfect for a page dedicated to metal!!! 😀🤘
haha, yeah I can quit now. ;) cheers!
I would also add Billy Gibbons - ZZ Top
Cheers!
Can you make a video where you discuss and anwser the many "what ifs" in both rock and metal history?
yeah I've thought a little bit about doing something like that, we'll see what the future holds.
Mannn Rory was something else and everything rock n roll! Salute to all the legends on here though!

After two videos, several people I had never heard about, but still not Eric C., that is somewhat surprising ;)
more rock than hard rock more 60s too for Cream
There were so many great bands in the 70's that really good bands were forgotten . I appreciate your list but if I may I would like to add Saracen "Heroes , Saints, and Fools" to the list.
it's not a guitarist but an album. ;) Cheers!
Yes you're right and the band was in the 80's era . Yet they produced a great album.@@RuthlessMetalYT

Fast eddie Clarke is my favorite from your list
🤘
I reckon Dave Hill should get a mention
🤘
I liked the inclusion of the underrated Rory Gallagher, Tom Scholz, Leslie West and Ronnie Montrose, but where are Prince, Al Di Meola, Mark Knopfler, Joe Walsh, Billy Gibbons, Lindsey Buckingham, Steve Lukather, Neal Schon, Mick Ronson and Steve Howe? Everyone I mentioned is among the greatest guitarists of all time.
Cheers!
I'm not gonna lie... I'm curious about that hidden video in the "METAL PLAYLISTS" playlist. 🇧🇷
yeah, there are a few hidden videos coming up. That one in particular is a NWOBHM playlist and I prepare some videos in advance so I can have a few days break when I need to and still be able to post. ;)
Interesting spotlight on Punky Meadows. Did you know he very nearly became Kiss’s guitarist after Ace left? He was oh so close (thanks a lot gene).
Cheerios!
Maggot Brain. Eddie Hazel. Recognize and respect.
Cheerios!
Carlos Santana and Mark Farmer could be on the list.

5. Neal Schon - Santana / Journey
6. Eric Clapton
7. Duane Allman - The Allman Bros

Glad to watch some love to hard rock besides just Metal! 🔥🤘🏻
too much rock guitarists there. it's a metal and hard rock channel after all. ;) Cheers! 🤘🏻
@@RuthlessMetalYT most of ‘em yes but you can put out of that classification bands like Free, GFR, early stuff of Journey with Greg Rollie and Chicago with Kath! Is your call anyways! Cheers bud! 🍻
SEEMS like a weaker list, since few of these guys are as well known as those on list 1, but a lot of these guys could hold a candle to the guys in part 1 of this series. I was pleased to see just about everybody on there. Trower and Gallagher are too much in blues rock territory for me, and I wouldn't call them hard rock, but they are icons to be sure. Bell especially surprised me, and oddly enough that video clip featured the heaviest thing I've ever heard from Eric Bell. Montrose, Bolin, Charlton, West, Bourge, Meadows, Reale, Box-even Scholz-great choices. Only one hard rock and heavy metal of the 70s missing from this whole two part series-Rik Emmett!
yeah, thb it's only mark reale, tipton and downing, fast eddie clarke and tony iommi that are metal guitarists in these two videos. 1980s will be more metal. No plans for a part 3 now but who knows, maybe some time in the future, gotta move on to the 80's next. :D
@@RuthlessMetalYT About right, but I'd argue a place for Roth in there as well! But most of these guys were metal in their day anyhow!
Roth is more of a Hendrix-worshipping Hippie but he is certainly the best of those. :D haha
@@RuthlessMetalYT
The terms "hard rock" and "heavy metal" were used pretty interchangeably in the 1970s. Only in the 80s did fans and music journalists start making more of a distinction..
Around 1987, while spending a weekend at my grandparents' house, I found a music magazine that one of my youngest aunts had left behind after moving out years earlier. It was from 1980, and the cover story was, "Is Heavy Metal Dead"? 😂 (Yes, they really thought that metal was dead or dying around then).
Well, to get right to the point, the bands listed as examples of heavy metal included Boston and stuff like that. Led Zeppelin and Kiss were actually the closest to metal in the entire bunch. 😂
I think you might have eased off on the "only metal" for this video. So maybe Eddie Hazel should be on it as well. Maggot Brain is still one of the best guitar solos of all time.
there aren't much 'real metal' from the 70s so. Plus this channel has always had a bit of hard rock on it so.
@@RuthlessMetalYT Yeah. For sure. But I think you said something about not including rock guitar players in the previous video, so why not a bit of funkedelic goodness. lol
yeah, hard to draw en exact line. I'm not the biggest expert on 70s rock and hard rock. the 80's is more my decade. Cheers!
Rory No 1
