Love Chris DeGarmo, I wish he was still In Queensryche. Great to see Ross the Boss on this list as well.
Cheers!
Absolutely the best composer of them all, with a supreme take on adding melody to the solos, not just flash and speed.
The musical influence from David Gilmour is unmistakable in DeGarmo's playing.
Jack Starr 🔥🎸🎸🎸🎸
Thanks for the video and highlighting these underappreciated guitarists!
🔥🎸
Glad to see the Stryper duo in there. They put out some amazing stuff.
Cheers!
Wasn't as into glam/hair metal as much as I was into heavy/thrash metal, but of the hair bands, Ratt was always by far my favorite. Nice to see DeMartini on this list. Of all 80s guitarists, his metamorphosis into a shredder was the most profound of all imo. Guys like Mustaine were always good from the very beginning, but DeMartini started out not being exactly mind-blowing...but he just got better and better, and you can literally hear his progression as a shredder in real time when you listen to each record and pay attention, from the early 80s to about 1991, his technicality and phrasing and everything just amped up more and more with every record. Sure, the style of music may have been more on the pop side of metal, but I found Ratt very enjoyable to listen to because of DeMartini and Crosby's guitar work. Notable solos: You're In Love, Lay It Down, Slip of the Lip, Nobody Rides For Free.
Cheers!
Chris deGarmo outstanding guitarist, in a class of his own. Great job as always, cheers!
Thanks, Cheers!
Рок 🎸 навсегда здорово 👍

Wow!!!!! congratulations again!!!! Chris de garmo and Rik Emmett two of best guitarist of all times from my list!!!!!

Finally the living legend Richie Sambora
Cheers!
Great episode!
Good job as always man!
thanks! Cheers!
@@RuthlessMetalYT Is there gonna be a 'Part V'? VI? Thanks Jim, you da man.
Tommy Vetterli is without a doubt one of the most amazing and talented guitarist who walked the Earth. Period !
Yeah, he is absolutely insane. He makes everyone look like complete noobs in this video. :D
@@RuthlessMetalYT Not only a wonderful soloist but also a master of riffs. Coroner was an absolute blast. I've been a fan for more than 30 years and never have enough 🤘🤪🤘
@@RuthlessMetalYTI saw him with Kreator and he had so many pedals on stage. I didn't count them but it was at least ten.
yes they are amongst my all time favourites. incredible musicians all over the board. 🔥🎸
hehe 🔥🎸
You covered a lot of ground and were very thorough. Great series! I was waiting for a Matthias and Rudolf sighting haha
I think they got removed due to copyright.
My favorites: De Garmo, Gillis, Sambora, De Martini, Azaghthoth (Morbid Angel rules), Vetterli. Good job!
Thanks boss
You are the polar opposite of me , half the time . Vetterli is OK Azaghthoth sucks . I mean step back and take a moment to judge their solos . I would judge them on a few points . Areas like / Tone / Speed / Clarity /Originality / and most of all Direction !
9 out of 10 of these guys sounded like a drunk or stoned Hendrix . Their sounds come out of left field , right field , from up there over yonder , back behind us , out that way , I mean be real man . If your gonna talk great then measure them against the man who all guitarist are measured . I know it’s not fair but they decided to pick up the guitar . They chose thst as there instrument. What make Van Halen the king of all the six stringers is his solos his rythum , everything he does , has a direction . It sounds good because it has a begining , a mid section and an end . Especially his solos , they pick U up at a certain spot , uhe then takes you for a ride , some wilder than others, and he drops you off right where he picked you up from and it’s all seem less , no joints , it’s all one smooth bad as piece of music . That’s what these guys all lack . Their solos are direction less. Eddie always left a road map , geographical evidence of where he took you and nobody did it better . I love a lot of guitarist , like Clapton, Page, Zakk, George Lynch, Brad Gillis DeMartini and DeGarmo are 3 I agree with you on , but the previous guys I mentioned , I stand by my opinion. I’m really not putting your taste in players down , I just think that you should listen to my guys and I hope you have enough Musical Mojo to hear what’s there, hear the evidence , hear the facts for your self . And remember that their are some awesome players out there , like Satriani, and Malmsteen , but the real bad boys all have Vs in their last name such as Vaughn, available , and Van Halen !
Finally, Chris Degarmo. Still wish Hide from X Japan gets his nod someday in the west :3
Hehe, cheers
You mentioned Hide, let's not forget either Hiroya Fukuda (1980s) or Akio Shimizu (1990s-Present) from ANTHEM!! FYI, the majority of Anthem's discography is up on RUclips now! \m/\m/

Man soo many great players; Boby Gustafson from Overkill, Piggy from Voivod, Frank Blackfire from Sodom, Chris Poland, the guys from Heathen, Forbidden, Sacrifice, Death Angel, Artillery, Flotsam & Jetsam, and last but not least: Jeff Waters! The dude rules how dare you not include Jeffy boy 🤣
Jeff is in another video. :) Cheers!
What a surprise, Brad Gillis, he did a nice job on Speak of the Devil
yes, great guitarist.
I saw queensryche in the hey day and beyond great player same as wilton!!!!
I bet it was.
Great lists. Was not expecting Mantis from Venom :D Was hoping to see Denis "Piggy" D"Amor from Voivod (maybe in one of the previous). So many great guitarists, what a blast.
yeah, too many guitarists too little space to put 'em in the vids. :D 🔥🎸
The most impressive axeman of this video is Tommy from Coroner, the most emotional, the mighty Mantas!
Yes, he is a beast.
There was so many guitar heroes in the 80s, I think there will be a part 5. Mark Reale(after I wrote the comment I found out its in a different vid, sorry)
yeah. Cheers!
Nice video
thanks 🔥🎸
Neal Schon, an absolute God in any era!!!!! Shredding, melody, note bending, feel. The total package!!!!!
cheers
Trey from Morbid Angel 🤘🤘🤘 He really desserves it !
Cheers!
Just giving the title of a "Guitar Hero" to all of the 80s guitarist aren't we ? Lol I'm playn (kinda) there had to be literally 100s of Rock and Heavy Metal guitarist that made a name for themselves and glad to see alot of them covered in your series of videos .but honestly more than half of them seem to have gotten most of their playing styles and techniques from Rhoads and Van Halen .knew they both inspired so many young players that came along many years after .Randy and Eddie set the bar so high in the last couple years of the 70s and first couple of the 80s .but can see their styles in many that came up just a very short time after .Neal Shaun was so underrated over those years .didn't really realize just how great he really was til after the fact (70s - 80s) even though I saw him in early in his career in Santana and later with Journey .CC Deville was another that got overlooked alot due to most their material was so commercial and FM radio pop oriented but dude had some heavy chops didn't he ? Even Rick Emmitt got overlooked alot due to the same thing but I saw him twice in the 80s and he could down right bring it with a lot of feeling in his playing .same with Ritchie Sambora was a awesome player but again was overshadowed by the commercial songs of Bon Jovi and Jon .out of this batch of players shown here I'll have to go with Chris D .Neal Shaun and Warren DMartini. all were great though.
There's just too many. could go on doing this forever but yeah, we're getting towards the end now. :D cheers!
@@RuthlessMetalYT think the series of videos are awesome .dude you brought up guys either I had forgotten about or just hadn't seen in ages .sucks the younger generations that came after me don't even know what good music is .except my daughter .she lives 80s Rock and Metal band where I use to ride around with her when she was a kid and jamming my music .it struck with her and that's he favorites where her friends her age don't have a clue even who any of those bands are lol
Good to see Michael Sweet of Stryper getting some recognition. He has a great set of pipes as well as being an awesome guitar player (much better than Oz Fox, IMO).
cheers!
Neal Schon is great !

nice !!! oz fox and michael sweet!!!

Not household heroes but Hon. mentions for me. Larry Barragan-Helstar, Scott Nyquist/Mike Nyrkkanen-Wrath, Mark Gallagher-Raven, Kurdt Vanderhoof/Craig Wells-Metal Church, Tommy Thayer-Black 'N Blue and Kiss

I think I didn't see Jeff Healey (the blind blues guitarist) among the many in the series. He uses an interesting technique when he plays guitar.
this is a metal channel after all. :)
Oh yes, Rik Emmett! Totally forgot about him! Triumph´s gig on that festival is my fave - although my beloved Judas Priest rocked that place as well.
yeah, planned to put Rik in the 70s video but I forgot so he got a nod here instead.

This began the age of amazingly shetty guitar tones. Wow..
in shetty you mean good?
@@RuthlessMetalYT Shetty means good? Lol. No, I mean facking horrible thin tones from a distortion or OD pedal into tubes amps that already distort a ton. A lot of really talented players had/have horrible tone. But if that sounds good to you, ok)

Gillar dig skarpt - Rock On
haha, skål!
It's too bad Mattias Jabs had to be removed. The Scorpions are awesome!
Oh man did I ever smile wide when I heard that "Metal Command" solo! Probably my favorite Exodus song. 😊
Let me say that I appreciate your inclusion of hair metal guitarists in these lists. Hair metal is not exactly my cup of tea in the metal realm, aside from a few truly excellent bands. And I know that you also tend to favor the heavier side of metal, like thrash. But personal tastes aside, I must grudgingly admit that guys like Oz Fox and C.C. DeVille are objectively good guitarists.
I understand why you have done so many videos of 80s guitar heroes. The 1980s was the Golden Age of metal. From the brilliant beginning of Black Sabbath and Judas Priest in the early 70s, metal grew until it blossomed into the myriad of amazing subgenres we saw in the 80s.
I feel sorry for you, though, trying to find guitar heroes in the 90s. I remember the 90s as the time I turned to country music because hard rock had turned into grunge crapola. 😂 But maybe you know some good guitarists from that era that I somehow overlooked. 😉
yeah, there were some great guitarists in the hair metal field even if there are some cheese the guitars were often good. Cheers!
George lynch dokken, jake e lee and akira takasaki loudnes

Hello. Have you any list of instrumental rock performers from USA, Canada, Australia, Europe, Japan etc.

Viv Campbell needs to be in the mix. His work on HD & L in L is top notch. RIP RJD
he is in one of these vids. :)
Can you please make the 100 rules of speed metal please? So you can conclude the extreme metal genres rules (thrash, doom, death, black and speed)
speed is such a strange phenomenon so I don't know if I ever will.
You missed Matthias Jabs of the Scorpions. You even posted his photo.

Molly Hatchet was one of the inspirations for Southern Metal !
not really metal though.
Zakk Wylde???????????????????????????????????????????
PS. ??????????????????????????!!!!
coming soon.
This series has gone from best guitarists of the 1980s to name every guitarist of the 1980s. Mantas C.C. Deville? Are you joking? There's a difference between competent and best.
Deville is quite popular even if I don't like the band. Mantas is a true legend. Maybe not the most impressive shredder but some of the songs he wrote is beyond legendary.
@@RuthlessMetalYT Not to be rude, but you're confusing best guitarists (their guitar playing abilities) with other things. Mantas' songwriting abilities have nothing to do with his guitar playing. Deville's popularity has nothing to do with his guitar playing. Your two examples are different topics altogether.
I disagree with that. If you're a great guitarist but you can't write songs then your band is going to suck unless someone else can write the songs but it's usually the guitarists that does that work.
@@RuthlessMetalYT You're totally wrong in conflating music writing ability with the ability to play a guitar (or any instrument). They are two totally different things. That's like saying a great film director has to write screenplays. No, a great film director doesn't. In fact, many never wrote a single screenplay. What they have is the ability to interpret and film great scenes that were written by someone else. I have met several fantastic musicians who couldn't write a decent song for anything.
Chuck Schuldiner deserves stay in the top
Cheers!
In my opinion, Mantas should not be in this list of Guitar Heroes.
Who not? He is a great guitarist and he is one of the main guitarists in the birth of speed, thrash, black, etc.
OK. He may have been at the birth of trash, speed and black metal, but technically he was far below the other guitarists in the video.
I think people underestimate him. Look at the Venom albums after he left, they are terrible. @@murilocarvalho2903
