This video is definitely a confidence builder. Marty needs to hold back on the excessive amounts of coffee in this one though. Had to FF several times.
Dude! I started making flutes on a bus as something to do while waiting to pick up passengers, with bamboo I cut out of a riverbed between stops. Gave one of the flutes to a musician I know to see what he thought, he gave me this same guitar with an amp today!
Always amazes me how guitarist sound like they've never seen a guitar when they talk to techs. I've done hundreds of setups for some of the most talented guitarist and 98% of them have no idea how to maintain or adjust their gear.
Marty please hear me out this used to be by old guitar and I’m 12 years old and I have been playing for a year and I should have a picture of it but please please hear me out and also you have taught me so much riffs and you have made my guitar career go so far, keep up with your videos and I hope you the best
Dude, you should’ve kept it. If they sold it for $70, they must’ve only given you $40. That’s nuts. Hope you realized everything they just did to it is extremely easy to do yourself.
Any guitar can do the trick but some people like certain feel, look and tone my fake tele sounds like a custom shop or vintage tone paid $200 and it'll always forever be worth that much or less haha good stuff here guys
Use that pickup, but swap magnets to various Alnico types to show how far that goes. So much difference is just the charge, quality and type of magnet. The rest is just bobbins and wire, unless it's rattling.
Everyone always wants to put Seymour Duncan pups in their guitar as if those high priced pups are going to make you sound good. Unless you really need a specifically hot sound or something, stock pups all the way. Unless they're cheap ceramics and you don't like that sound.
Used to love to learn songs from Marty's tutorials but dude, so many crap songs lately. I know it's a matter of personal taste but back street boys, Brittney spears? Really? Is there anybody out there that really wants to learn a back street boys song? Not really guitar songs.
I have no argument with you adjusting the truss rod under tension. I prefer to do it without the strings, so I know I have a completely straight neck. I also do my fret work; leveling, crowning, polishing and beveling at that point. I like the neck flat for that. If the strings then pull a bit of bow back into it, I can adjust that to my liking.
I purchased a 1999 model Maton M125 Natural Series Acoustic guitar from a pawn shop and pimped it out with black hardware, Black Gotoh mini tuners, ebony bridge pins, ebony end pin, Graph Tech Black Tasq nut and compensated bridge saddle... The stark contrast of black against aged honey golden woods of Sitka spruce and highly figured Australian Queensland Maple is breathtaking, it looks and sounds amazing... 🎶🎶🎶
I picked up an epi LPJ for $50 on fb mktplace. It was pretty dinged up and filthy but the pickup was super hot. I put new tuners and a tusq nut on and set it up... it's my favorite guitar to play now.
Hey Marty it's been a while since I picked up a guitar and no matter how long it has been I always come back to this channel. you're one of the best teachers, and can I please ask? There's one song I want to learn. ""I don't want to set the world on fire"" but if not thank you for always teaching me.
@@MartyMusic Don't get me wrong, I love the fact that you guys customized that guitar, but in reality when you try to sell a guitar you never get back what you put in it, that is just a fact of life. Love the new format and content, two thumbs up!

He is an awesome player. Thanks guys, nice video.
Goes to show that most guitars can be saved. Thanks Marty.
Dude, an Epi LP Jr for under a Benjamin? I’d love that guitar just for a fun project. Cool as hell.
This video is definitely a confidence builder. Marty needs to hold back on the excessive amounts of coffee in this one though. Had to FF several times.
Tinkering around with and cleaning old guitars is always fun. Good stuff Marty!
Awesome video! Would love to see more like this, that are guitar-related but not necessarily a song lesson
Sweet deal! Thanks guys. IMHO never tighten a truss rod under tension. Breaky breaky. Bad. Loosen, yes, tighten no. Peace.

Dang man! I don't own one of those guitars but would love too. Especially for the price. I don't have that kind of luck. Lol

Marty brings home a $69 pawn shop guitar with unplayable high action and proceeds to lay down one of the tastiest jams of all time
Sure, web is covered by this sorta thang, but Mr Marty's humor is genuine....

Oo a new type of video noice Marty keep it up
Too bad I’m a lefty. I never seem to find those steals. Thanks Marty. Have to say though I am a String Joy guy. Bet I don’t get a heart❤
"a lot of failed songwriters here" ouch.. hahah
i have that exact guitar
Could you do a bass next? Love this video
That guitar doesn’t need a chiropractor, it needs the ring dinger
This could be a fun learning process. I would definitely play in store. Loose uneven frets or lots of buzzing could be a deal breaker.
How to restore a guitar
Step 1: Buy a perfectly fine guitar
Step 2: Polish it
I guess I got lucky with my 80 dollar 2005 epiphone sg special

The other thing this video shows is that a great guitar player can make a cheap guitar sound great.

Haha. No way. Last year I bought the same exact guitar from a pawn shop and changed a bunch stuff on it with parts from guitar fetish

Please tell us all the things you use the film roll case weed for
It would have been nice if we could have heard what the guitar sounded like . Really bad audio in your vid where you were playing .
My dad bought my mom‘s wedding ring at that specific pawn shop
Never like to leave the fret oil sitting on the fret board, wipe it on wipe it off, letting it sit can lead to the frets lifting

Modding these is dirt cheap. With careful shopping you can do tuners, a pickup, and pots for $100.
