Hey Guys, I’m Alex Etches and I’m a golf professional and product reviewer. If you don’t know me, I started playing golf from 10 years old, turned professional at 22 in the UK, and have been creating entertaining and informative golf content on different platforms for the last 10 years. My home is now AUSTRALIA and I hope to take you around some of the best golf courses from down under.
On this channel, you can expect many fun reviews and videos. From testing out some crazy golf clubs to the latest product releases which include TaylorMade, Callaway, Cobra, Mizuno, Titleist, and many more...

Anyway, enough about me - If you’re new to the channel, or have been with #TEAMAL for a while, write a message down in the comment section and say Hi!
Coolest dude on TV...... NUFF SAID😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Definitely the best indoor simulator I’ve seen on RUclips… Cheers
I switched to blades as a 20 handicap. I kept hearing that nobody can hit blades. Ch-AL-lenge accepted! If anyone wants to become a waaaaayyyyyy better ball striker.... buy blades! I dropped my handicap 10 strokes from a winter hitting range balls and learning how to be accurate.
True that! If I hit bad shots, I want to feel the punishment (MP-5 with PX 6.5) 😁
@@fischputza exactly! We shouldn't be rewarded for crap swings
Here’s a physcological aspect to blades as well, they make you be more disciplined about setup and your swing whereas game improvement clubs allow you to be sloppy and so you tend to be. When the great big bertha driver first came out my mate lost distance and accuracy compared to his old driver because he kept trying to ‘hit it’.
Same here!
Very true. I have always believed that the best game improvement clubs are blades. Masking poor technique with equipment will never make you better.
Baby blade next???
Agree!
I am so glad I am an amateur golfer, 15 years ago I had been struggling with my game playing the latest and greatest improvement irons and was at the point of giving up. I had a long chat with myself and decided I either give up the game or just enjoy it! I went back to Japanese blades, went from Mizuno to Miura to Honma and now to Vega. Guess what I'm back to a mid single figure HCP and have enjoyed my golf ever since my stop or go decision. As an amateur why do I need to be as low a handicap as possible (I comfortable knowing I will never play Augusta National) when I can play clubs like this and enjoy the feel, quality and beauty of pure blades, even if sometimes they go sideways!
Spot on - I had some 1988 Hogan Apex redline blade and felt the same - just a pleasure using them and not so worried about the score.
I just received my set of baby blades today. Immediately took them out and hit them and all I can say is wow! They remind me a little bit of the ping blueprints in that they are so solid at impact. They feel like sledgehammers. It also brought my launch angle down a little bit and ball speed up a couple of mile an hour compared to my T100’s.
I really want a set of BB but prices are enormous 😅😂
Everyone should hit blades. The fear is all hype. Give them a chance at any level and you will be able to use them and love them. If you want to hit a 7 iron 180 yards pull a 5 iron. There is a reason they have been around since the start of golf and will always be around in the future.
Beautiful. Looks even better than my Miura MB-5003. Give it a try on the field too - only then you will truly understand.
Review the TC-201! Great video. 👍🏼 LOVE the comedy with the review. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
10:10 Careful Al, the way you stared at and caressed that iron might make the misses jealous!
👍🤣🤷🏻♂️
😂😂😂👌
You should put them in the bag Alex. I have Miura 1008s and an 18 handicap and could play better with more forgiving irons but I love those little feelings I get when I take off the head cover, when I line them up and when I hear them hit the ball. It's just as great as my feelings for you when I see you've posted a new vid Alex. That's worth a few shots a round all by itself.
I’ve played blades since I started in the mid 90’s. A few years ago I switched to the AP-2 irons by Titleist. My hcp dropped 5 points, but it doesn’t quite feel the same. Now I’m thinking about getting a nice set of blades. That’s the way golf is meant to be played.
Same here. Played blades through high school and afterwards, until about 2014, when I joined a club and bought a new-ish set of AP2's. Recently picked up these MB 101's and couldn't be more excited. Have only played one round with them, but hit some of the most beautiful iron shots in a decade.
I bought one just for fun a couple of month ago and I can say it's addicted. You can stand on the range forever and just hit ball after ball:-)
I've never felt so connect to Al as I did when he was saying
Please, please, while the ball was in the air
Mr. Miura says the infamous "baby blades" are his most forgiving design. Counterintuitive but he points out that the small, dense, perfectly balanced clubheads dont deviate as much on mishits... cut through turf on slightly heavy strokes, retain ball speed on thins and heel/toe strikes. Also encourages focus on the strike... thoughts?
Yeah definitely been hunting for some BB's that aren't priced in to the stratosphere
I game the type D Ltd edition version of these , on my third set of miuras , won’t be changing anytime soon , I have had Mizunos , callaways and titliest blades and they not even in the ball park , the only thing that I still have that comes close was the old Nike vr pro blades .
i remember my dad had a set of mizuno blades when i was a kid. i called them hockey sticks because they were so thin. he tells me they were the best irons he'd ever hit (when he'd hit it in the middle)
Its 2000 years of Japanese metalworking (sword) heritage and tradition. They feel like warm butter on our strikes. I used to want their 1957 edition blades so bad. But alas super expensive & rare to find good used.
The meeting with the future in-laws analogy was perfect. Nice you meet you son, have my daughter, plus here’s the keys to the Porsche!
I own a set. I’ll never get rid of them. They are so good and the feel is unmatched.
I went from a 25 to an 11.5 handicap playing Cleveland blades given to me by my brother who is a pro. I learned on these clubs and when you learn to hit on blades, it makes you a better golfer. You don’t rely on tech to save your shot. You learn to be conservative and to hit for purity over power. When I show up to a round, someone usually comments on my “butter knives” but I won’t play anything else.
I play left handed Tournament Y blades and love them. So smooth out of the middle.
LOL, i love watching your videos, good content and funny! I ordered a set of Miura CB 801's as I am a lefty. They're still being built. I can't wait to get them!
Made me love this channel that simulator did. Cheers from the 🇺🇸
If I could afford them I would buy them, as I ain’t playing in competitions, nice graphite shaft and misss 😂hit will be easy on the feedback, what they lack in forgiveness they will make up with all their aesthetics and storyline. A true treat if you are on your way or have become a skilled striker.
Look honestly, as someone who began golf 12 months ago I have no problems with hitting blades. I have Mp32s, mp67s, as well as PXG 3011T, cobra F9 one length, mp20 HMBs, mp18 SCs, P790s. I actually hit much better with the Mp32s than any of less bladed ones. Can't be just me.
Nice video, well done. One of the more entertaining golf video's I've seen. Keep up the good work good things in your future.
Find someone that looks at you Like Alex looks at a Miura 7 Iron.
You’re Welcome! 😂 I play Mini Blades and there’s nothing- absolutely nothing- like Miura! You should review those next. Cheers 🥃
Im just started golf last week and im buying these clubs.
Thanks Al. At last. A review of blades that doesn't tell us we're not good enough, only elite players, your fingers will sting. Thank god. Yes you need to hit the middle of the clubface, but we should do anyway... shouldn't we? Some of us grew up playing blades, 'cause that's all there was.
Yeah that irons are unbelievable amazing I love them
You should have Rick Shiels subscriber numbers. My favorite golf channel. Looking to congratulate you when you get your 1 millionth sub! Cheers
You should take them out on the course one tile and video it. Honest review of them on course and then make a decision of whether to game them.
Hey, how about a retro review of my old clubs from the 80s? The Hogan Apex II. I had 2 thru Equalizer. Pure muscleback. I wonder now how I could hit them so well. Not today, for sure. As beautiful as these Miuras!
Used Ben Sayers mentor blades before blades were fashionable...12 handicap.. got to single figures with them... still in garage!!! 30 years :-)
Good iron setup, 7 , 8, 9, p, blade. 5 and 6 cavity back, 4 use hybrid,
Big guys in golf keep up the great work
Al reward yourself son. I've just moved to Srixon Z Forged. Back to blades after 25yrs
Still can't believe that at 6' 17" you can find a way to hit these different clubs!! They look like little sticks in your hands !! Thx for sharing with is Sir Al, love the channel, love the content!
They are beautiful!! And they look a lot like a Titleist 620 MB.
Funny guy! I think you won both of you challenges, called the shot and hit it. That’s a win in my book.
Throughly enjoyed this video! Subscribed!
Should do a review on the Japanese brand Fourteen. The FH - 1000 blades are unbelievable , Cheers
Thanks Al Love it when you review a legend!
Theyd blend nice with a more "friendly" 5-6 iron .. they DOOOOO look awesome
Please, could you review the baby blades?
Thanks for the review!
Don’t be afraid of blades. Everyone should get a old set and game them as much as possible. They become the new normal and your other blades will feel like you are swinging waffle irons on a stick.
Have to say I agree with you. I’ve been gaming Titleist AP2 716 editions, for a while now and was recently given the 4,5,6 irons of used Miura CB 202’s which are effectively blades. After hitting them, I feel ruined for my Titleists haha
Pleaaaase be the first on RUclips to review the TC-201’s pleaaaaaseeeee
Love my Miura’s but if it is an off day for ball striking you will know it. They are beautiful clubs though and feel amazing!
Enough of this talk about blades being only for low handicappers! I learned to play with Palmer the Deacon blades. Yes, the sweet spot was the size of a dime and you knew when you hit off center. That’s the kind of feedback you need if you want to improve your ball striking. I was looking for a set of MB-101s during the spring lockdown until I saw the MC-501s and bought 4-PW without even hitting them first. That thin top line is so enticing. I love ‘em!
Completely agree!
Alex, would love to see real ground interaction. I understand the floor is perfectly straight with perfect mat but can you please do the stats numbers on the course. Wet vs dry ground can change how much this club can be used in real course situation
Just buy clubs based on how cool they are
Heard a rumor that Tiger played a set of Titleist stamped Miura’s when he first signed on with them.
Look at Erik anders lang miura Video. The titleist irons 🤔
Swing weight????
Stunning looking irons...
Muscle back blades rule. It is as simple as this you have more control.
What is the notch on the top line? Great Video again Al
Nice to see someone talk about a club who can actually compress a ball. Sick of having Robinson recommended things when he can barely make decent contact talking about blades and t100s. Wish him the best but man he’s a hacker it’s painful.
playing Miura (and Mizuno) for the past 15 years.... not for everyone but once you are dialed in... control, shaping shot, etc... you can't go into anything else. never think about forgiveness of a club because you want to push your technique to make the best out of these irons... just not into play sloppy and the club will fix... If you put the time, learn how to play them. amazing irons.... enjoy them
My dream irons for sure. Maybe one day
hitting a high, soft landing, 195-yard fade, with a Miura MB-101 into a green - that's drop-the-mic, walk off the set stuff - put them in the bag
Great clubs. Guys need to hit Miura more often
Forged Blades provide more feedback and feel. This is a major part of improving play and completely goes against the grain of 'Player Improvement" marketing hype.
For any player, more feel and feedback mean the club will tell you more clearly whether you've hit it well or not. This enables you to adjust, mostly unconsciously, your swing for best feel and results. If you have any hand/eye coordination, your game improves faster.
Most cavity-back "game improvement" clubs are cast, and cheaper to make - so more profitable. So...marketing.
Although they perhaps provide some correction, it isn't much, and with less feedback or feel, you do not improve.
can you review the Miura PI401
Hi!, I have a question: what is your simulator?
What is your reccomendation for mid to high handicappers?
so Al, 6 weeks on, the most important of importantest questions ..... did they go in the bag?
Will have to give the blades a run at some stage. Tried them when I was a high handicapper, not much joy at all. Now I'm a single figure handicap what harm can it do ???? Hahaha time will tell on that front. Never had a coaching lesson so I won't hold my breath
Alex could hit a rock tied to a stick and it would go where he wanted it to. But it was a great commercial for Miura. I’ve never seen a Miura commercial..
basically an MP 33 with different logo. Nothing forged and feel like a Mizuno
Appreciate your reviews .. being small golf club maker .. how would you compare it with?
Would love to see comparisons
Haywood signatureMB
Ben Hogan ICON Blades
Honma TR21 X
Sub 70 699 pro
Gday Al, could you recommend a set of irons that are forgiving but don’t look like the back of a concreter’s shovel ? I’m currently using Wilson v6’s because of the looks but I’m not good enough to be using them.
So you're saying that my 20 hcp isn't exactly the market they are aiming for. It's going to be winter in California soon, I bet those blades will ring like church bells when I thin a ball in 40 deg weather.
Every YT-pro is the same: "these blades are too dificult for me to hit" and then procedes to hit them as beatifully as any chunky game improvement irons... Its the same with Rick Shields, Mark Crossfield Peter Finch... I could go on!!!
Just admit that when you have a blade in your hand you concentrate more resulting in better outcome. Therefore blades will net you a better score!
Great Video! Made me a subscriber… These would be great if I was expecting to spend 2500-3000 USD on a set of irons but players MB/CB is definitely what I’m seeing looking for . ONLY From My POV🔥⛳️🤔
Miura Golfxlubs are insane
Where did you get fitted for miura clubs in Australia?
Waiting for one of these to go in!
Woooo! Hoppy Hoppy Hoppy!
Pure marvelousness. And the clubs are not bad either
Just got these
Al!!! Did you take these out on the course?
Blades all the way. Great Review By the way
What a beauty. Even my girlfriend said “Wow, that was a sexy club” 😂
I have a set of the older brothers to those irons. The Miura Tournament Blades. Are they incredible to hit? Absolutely. Do they punish you on poor strikes? Without a doubt. Are they forgiving? Surprisingly yes. Are they for everyone? If you’re a masochist.....
looks and plays like the Haywood irons, give them a look.
could anyone describe how mb101 compares to mizuno 221?
Stunning irons.
MP20 vs Miura
Yeah, that would be the clash of titans!
You should test the title at 620s
What’s your thoughts on these vs Titleist mb 620.
Happy hALoween
Cool Channel, I play a set of those Miura MB 101 :-)
Go on, take it for a walk around Jinaloop.
That is just a thing of beauty.
Like the irons too mate? muhahaha
So what would happen if you reviewed the Miura Nicklaus blades? 😜
That would shut RUclips down
team zissou I would be twitching like an energy drink addict if Al managed to pull it off since I'm a whopper spec equipment fan 😛
Alex Vongsamphanh it would start the RUclips earthquake.......but then if you really want to shut it down.......toe 2 toe Miura Nicklaus Blades versus Taylormade P7TW Masters Commemorative edition. Only 81 of them in existence built to TIGERS ACTUAL EXACTING SPECS BY MIKE TAYLOR! 😛
team zissou I've never hit one so unfortunately I cannot answer that 🤣 looks wise they're just incredible. I saw a set of baby blades once 😶
What shafts are in these irons you used?
I NEED THAT SHIRT
Nov 2020: No! Not putting it in the bag!
June 2021: ... can i get them in black. Thx
In the miura website it says this MB101 is for beginners . Im confused.
Well Mr Miura judges the player level on turf interaction etc. Baby Blades are also like that
Does anyone else find that your contact is much better on a smaller head? Hard to hit it out of the toe if the toe hardly exists i guess.
