I'm the cook in my house for our 38 year marriage. We go out maybe 4 times a year to celebrate a special occasion. Never fails to disappoint. I like spice and was excited when a Thai restaurant opened. I asked the waiter what was the hottest item on the menu and then ordered it Thai hot. He gave me the warning and then the dish arrived. Tepid and bland. Won't be going there again.

Worms need to be cold composted and kept moist. It looks like you have a lot of hot compost material in your bin. Both the hot compost and lack of moisture probably lead to their demise. Good luck on your next worm bin! Looking forward to it!

'Invaluable' works, too. It does not mean 'non-valuable' or 'valueless'; it means that something is so valuable that you can't value it in the sense of putting a price tag on it. It is to skills what 'priceless' is to objects.
It would be entertaining to see how the goats would react to Livvie's umbrella if she aimed it at them while closed and then opened it as fast as she could. I think there might be a rapid dispersion of goat-berries. 😝

Your dinner looks so delicious. I have to agree, that enjoying a great home cooked dinner beats going out any day. I am always disappointed in most restaurant meals I have had because they’re not as good as I cook at home. A simple twist on the potatoes Au gratin, slice the potatoes the same then add some salt and pepper and diced ham or bacon , you can add some sliced onions and crushed garlic if you like it then pour some heavy whipping cream over it and add some grated cheese on top and bake. We call this potato bake over here in Australia and it is awesome and saves time making the sauce.

We have been using a diy worm compost bin in our apartment for the past two years. I keep it indoors with no bad odors at all. It’s in a larger Rubbermaid bin with holes poked in the lid for air and a second bin below to make sure it doesn’t get too moist. We use shredded newspapers (but not the colored pages) for bedding and put coffee grounds, shredded veggie scraps, egg shells, etc. Just don’t put in any meat products or you will get foul odors. The resulting compost is like super soil!

I'd ask the work provider about the amount of manure you have in the worm bin. The bedding, food and moisture are all important.

Red sky in the morning, sailors take warning. Red sky at night, sailors delight. An old saying I've heard as a child.

Watched the egg change ..... very interesting! Really like your cooking. Trimming up apple trees made quiet a difference. I love your consistent bright attitude caring for the farm and animals...born to farm. Awesome! God pours blessings.

They need the crushed oyster shells (they love'em) to help grind up their feed in their crop so don't grind it to powder - they need it pebbly. WE use to give grit to help them digest their feeds and grasses. But the crushed oyster shells give them added calcium plus the grinding up feature. They need it so their crop does not get impacted and they can die from that.
So don't grind it to powder - that can plug up their nostrils so they can't breathe.
You can by oyster shells already crushed ready to use.

Al do the sliced potatoes for one minute and natural release in the instant pot ... Then add the sauce and put in oven until golden bubbly. I have been experimenting a little more with my instant pot and it sure cut the time on au gratin.

I have noticed that Moose is always the last one out of the hen house when you open it up. Making sure his gals are clear before he struts out. Chickens are interesting creatures.

If you could grow a dozen hemp plants you could shred the plants for chicken bedding. Hemp shavings are supposed to be the best bedding for chooks.

That looked like a great meal! I love mushrooms and never thought of adding something sweet with them. I haven't had a gratin potatoes in at least a decade. Sure looked good. It makes me happy to see the greenhouse chickens out with the rest of the flock. Blessings to all.
