Honestly, you missed the centaurs....
+Eren Jaeger I know, and it was a tough call... trust me trying to condense it into a list of 10 is pretty hard to do.
Aaron Wells But centaurs deserved to be on the list.
Eren Jaeger They are pretty awesome creatures, certainly. Perhaps next time then? I mean there are lots and lots of Greek creatures to write about.
Aaron Wells I know. But the centaurs deserved to be on the list. They're one of the most popular creatures in Greek myth and more popular than the no. 1.
Eren Jaeger You're right... when I wrote the script I didn't include the word popular in the title. Blame the big dog up stairs for that one. :p
Greek mythology is awesome
where are u from
+cak01vej xD wtf man
+cak01vej thank you ma thank you :)
+CyberLynixZ LNR (Lynix,Lunarella,Roxy)
I have recently started reading mythology books and i am very much interested and hopefully you will share some titles of the books as i am reading books by Joseph Campbell,
+Insight Curiosity. Try Bulfinch's Mythology. That should work. Check out the library as well.
I'm seriously obsessed with Greek Mythology and when I found this I was like shit 😂 Thank you for making this!
+Elle Sincioco Haha! Awesome! Glad you enjoy it :) We'll be covering all of the mythologies - we already did Japanese, and we have Norse coming up very soon!

χαχα δεν καταλαβαινουν ελληνικα! :') Γειαα σας ειμαστε ελληνες εδωωω
λεωνιδας κορωναρχης σκιώδη
Man...The Greeks sure knew how to tell a story. So in depth with lore and characters, if only some of the writers today could capture this.
i looove greek mythology '0'
This is the best video I've seen on Greek Mythology. Thanks!
THANK YOU for using the proper origin for Medusa.
Was hoping for Hippocampus
lol they are beautiful
True
are you hinting that you read Percy Jackson
Clorox Bitch
Possibly..
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
wrong Medusa was from Sicily and beautiful once and then cursed by Athena
No!SHE was from greece
Fascinated with Greek mythology.
Growing up,I had an uncle who was Greek, married to my mothers oldest sister,he was quite the character, there was a scene of him in an early home movie we would watch almost yearly, he would sit in this apolstered chair and lift his arms and legs, doing a circular motion with them, and everyone would laugh at this silly behavior, that is, us watching it on film,it had no sound, this was from the 50's. Anyways ,he was the most prevalent of my uncles, spending many a holiday at their house-or occassioally having their family over.
But I think having the knowledge that his ethnicity was Greek, drew my attention to that culture, and subsequently,to ancient cultures as a whole.
So thanks for this informative post. 😉👍🗿♨
number 2 and 1 i love, but WHERE IS THE HYDRA. LIKE SERIOUSLY you cannot have a list without that unique dragon :D
The Erinyes at 8:05 has to be one of the hottest Boris Vallejo paintings ever.
You deserve this much subsribers
I like the hecatoncales. The one hundred head, one hundred armed giant during the war between the gods and Titans.
+Mary Todd no i have not but I did watch the original movie which was unimpressive. At my high school during senior year you would get a lot of choices on what English class you would like to take. The classes were all half a school year long and you would pick two. One of the English classes I took was on Greek mythology. It sparked my interest in the stories told during that time and I would research the mythology from time to time. That was in 2006. My knowledge of Greek mythology from that time has diminished a lot but I remember the hecatoncales due to its strange characteristics.
I like Percy Jackson favorite books
+Mary Todd your right
Greek mythical characters weren't meant to entertain people they were idols.
great job guys
I love your video's pickups I am born in Greece lol
When I heard Severus I was like "OMG its combining two of my fave stories , Percy Jackson and Harry Potter
this was awesome
I am in love with greek mythology
I CLICKED FOR THE MERMAIDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHERE ARE THEY?!?!?! D:

+teairra reddick That's the point... I am the writer... I posted that before the video launched. ;)

percy jackson fandom overflow.....😍
greek mythology is so intresting!!!
@Top10Archive top 10 egyptian gods
My favourite creature from Greek mythology is the dryad
kronos REMAININGS were closed off in a chest so he wasnt fully there
Not every gorgon has eyes that turn those who look at it into stone. Only Medusa herself does.
Good video but most of the names are pronounced wrong, for example, Harpy is pronounced as "Arpia" - Hercules is "Iraklis" - Erinyes as "Erinies" in Greek
There are over 1,000 versions of greeks myths and were the heck is Kam'pe, a fire breathing reptile with a scorpian tail, dragon wings, and a belt that actually changed from animal to animal trying to kill you that was the dungeon keeper of elder cyclops and Hundred handed Ones? Oh and according to the version I heard, Harpes are part dragon and part human, not part bird part THING, sorry.
2:03 the gift of removing her eyes.....how's that a gift
Panas
The goat-leg mythical creature who was escorting God Dionysus in celebrations, party's, orgies..
The Myth says that during the invasion of Persians against the Greek cities, in Attica region, during a battle between the Athenian Hoplites and the Persians, Panas was showed up in a cliff. He started screaming so loud that the Persians flee away in Panic..
Yes pan the satyr, later knows at a god of nature I think
i love greek mitholigy thanks
I just love greek mythology but most of these ididnt know I new medusa all ready same with the minotaur
I like the nemean lion 🦁 which looks like a normal lion 🦁 but is not. I also like the centaur and cyclops.
Medusa, a real woman, was the Afrikan serpent-goddess said to have worn a pouch around her waist containing live snakes that represented wisdom and renewal. She was said to have carried the original Gorgon mask to frighten off the unskilled, and it was painted red to symbolize the power of menstrual blood with “gruesome glaring eyes, bared fanged teeth and, like the Hindu Goddess Kali, a protruding tongue” Goddess Inspired. Her name derived from Egyptian Maat (Truth) “which also gives us the words medicine, mathematics, and Sanskrit medha (female wisdom)”. “The Gorgons were a trinity whose names were Medusa, Stheino, and Eurayle- or Wisdom, Strength, and Universality”. Blacked Out through White Wash
Afrikan cultures were unfamiliar to the people known as Europeans, and many of the Greek mythological creatures originate from Afrikan civilizations. The snake hair assessment, assuming these people(Greeks) did not know the name of the hairstyle, referred to it as snake hair later creating classic myths depicting a goddess that actually represented truth and was not a villain, into a monster, taught in schools as Greek mythology.
Snake hair and Dreadlocks?
The original, real life Medusa, supposedly had dreads and the origin of dreads through ancient discoveries existed before the fictional Medusa character was recreated. She was the snake Goddess which is how Europeans formed their version of a monster with hair of snakes, with a face that would turn any man to stone because of fear, which developed from the Gorgon mask she carried with her.
for someone who's name is lamia I can honestly say that I'm not a child eating deamon I'm just a regular deamon
Star Art deamon?
well shit take a screenshot of this and send it to jacksfilms for ygs
But if we watch this vid and have medusa here,we'll not gonna turn into stone right?
you can add the sons of Gaia and tartarus the giants

That scene with Lamia and the blonde woman... What movie is it from?
when you showed the drawing of arachne, I thought of quelaag from dark souls.
Maybe instead of murdering and torturing people Hera should just divorce Zues
+Shaun Taylor Yeah... I sort of feel like Hera did a lot of BS stuff :p
Well she will not be Queen anymore and will be a minor goddess that will be worse than her situation
+Shaun Taylor But he is her brother.
+cak01vej True dat!
what part of shes the goddess of marriage dont you get she doesnt dovorce him because one shes pridefuk andntw she hnks she can make zues loyal and also shes the goddess of marriage erefore she cant divorce zeus

Will a blind man turn into stone if he is looking straight at Medusa's eyes?
+Ethan Ross I would presume the answer to that is no, the reasoning being; that all one must do for a gorgon to petrify you, is, meet its gaze.
Merrian Webster defines a gaze as "to fix the eyes in a steady intent look with eagerness tor studious attention." Bringing on the question of, can a blind person "look"?Merriam defines a look as, "to exercise the power of vision upon." Another quick word search and; the definition for vision is as follows: "the act of power of seeing: sight."
And sight is "the sense we use to describe the quality of an object as we perceive it through a process in which light rays entering the eye are transformed by the retina into electrical signals that are trasnmitted to the brain via the optic nerve."
Blind is defined as being sightless... so short answer now? Blind = sightless = not stony stares. :)
That was a fun question though!
+Aaron Wells Yeah it was. thanks
Like Aaron Wells typed... No... but I highly doubt a blind person would make it out alive either way. Though Medusa relied soley on her Sight to Stone approach she was still pretty vicious... snake like I guess one could say.
+Ethan Ross Will a deaf man sharts himself to death while hearing a madman screams? lol Well, that's quite contradicting. But no, a blind man will not turn to stone, he will get devoured blindless without knowing her hideous look.
Good question
Medusa was once very beautiful but Athena was jealous of her beauty and cursed her with her Gorgon like looks.
also the fact that Poseidon had an affair with Medusa in Athena's temple, thus dishonouring her
Ayne Trash guess Athena wanted to be the only one to touch Poseidon's staff... oooh sorry, but was just to tempting.
+ImoriiCröw depends which book you read I guess, as they're all different
The story I know is that Medusa was one of the most devoted priestess to Athena. Athena, being one of the thre godesses that would never mary (aka have kids) Athena would expect the same for Medusa. But Medusa was extremly beautiful, and Poseidon raped her in Athena's temple. That made Athena mad, cursing her to never be beautifull again and every one that would he her face would become stone.

I just clicked on the first "Top 10 Greek Mythology" I found, and I got so excited when I saw it was Top10Archive! Love this dude!

Scylla and Charybdis, the Hydra, Cyclops, Sirens, so many other creatures, but the ones included are still epically awesome. Greek mythology is quite fascinating.
+Misty Rose is right
Yes
I cant believe they didnt put in the sirens -_-
+Misty Rose i have such an obsession for sirens. Greek mythology is one of my favorite past times. Just reading new stories and legends its so fascinating

Release the Kraken! @_@ ;P
+vao human thats what i say when my dog gets out of her cage
+cak01vej You are right the kraken is not from Greek mythology but Greek mythology has an exactly same monster called the "beast". Weird how so different mythologies have much in common!
+cak01vej Sorry my mistake it was called "Cetus" or in Greek "Κήτος"
+Chris Stamoultas You know greek?
Yes.
I can't believe that these creatures didn't came on the list:
~Pegasus
~Griffon
~Phoenix
~Hydra
They are my favorites
Sorry I forgot the centaurs and the kraken😂🐙
The Kraken isn't from Greek mythology.
+Cambyon yes it is
Vasilis Pt No, it isn't. It's Norse.
+Cambyon Perseus killed the kraken with Medusa's head
when ur real name is Hera and u be like damn i am nasty

yup, although i may have forgotten some and their history
Wow... if you think about it, ancient Greece has a very BLURRED line between good and evil...
Actually, it was very clear darling.
elinavre Are you being a jerk or just being weird? Zeus CLEARLY had problems... his idea of good was pretty insane.
he had 7 wives, 2 of which was his sister and the other one was his aunt, poseidon raped medusa and she got cursed by athena and their child was pegasus, cronus/cronos wanted power, so he was willing to punish his father Uranus by cutting of the penis, throwing the testicles to the sea, thus the birth of aphrodite happened, cronos/cronus ate his children to prevent them from defeating him etc.. i could go on but i don't have all day
CaitlinPlayz Kronos is worser than Zeus...
Jenifer 12 I know, I'm just saying that they all have some severe issues...
Greek mythology is so interesting.👍👍👍👍
Haha, the second creature is actually Lámia, not Lamía. Lamía is a town in Greece, and one day, when I was young and I couldn't read very well, I read Lámia in a road sign and my father, who was driving the car, laughed and then explained me what Lámia was! I freaked out...!
why is it so common that people show egypt and greek mythology on youtube? i dont get it... norse mythology never names by anyone.... and it probably have the strongest and mpst powerful creatures
+Dennis Petersson Stick around awhile longer! We actually have about 10 different Mythology scripts coming up.. We're going to cover Norse, Japanese and Celtic just to name a few :)
Top10Archive ah, thanks;) i stick around. this was done well tho.
+Dennis Petersson -How about Hindu mythology? They've got a good variety of information that could be top 10'ed.
yea, well there are 2 chapters in greece mythology in the old id where kronos, gaia and oranos in the new were poseidon , zeus and hades rules.
Well... I haven't actually sean any video about egyptian creatures being shown lately. Top 10 Archive could be one of the few in showing it.
My personal favorite is Medusa. Also, feeling sorry for her.
She was rude
Desi Avenger i agree medusa is my favourite
top 10 Greek Gods or Top 10 Percy Jackson Demigods and immortals *or children of the gods
Yes please do This, that would be awesome.
+Nirene De Padua (Ayn) THIS NEEDS TO HAPPEN.
+Nirene De Padua (Ayn) why not the real religion/mythology, Hercules being a demigod is a way better story than any of Percy Jackson film.
Well Percy Jackson is not in Greek Mythology itself yet his name was inspired by Perseus
So that's why he's the one who killed medusa in the book or movie
Why is greek mythology so obsessed with snakes lol. Almost every creature has either snakes on there head, or snakes on there body.
+HighBridRed Because man resembles snakes in many ways.
the greeks always were fascinated by strong animals such as bulls, snakes etc. because they were very dangerous and often described mythical creatures with the animals traits (for instance the minoans with Minotaur-that means that the minoans considered the bull as an animal that should be feared but actually they envied their strength and a fun fact is that the bull was a sacred animal to the minoans and often its horns were used as decoration in temples or rituals!)
sorry for the length of this comment
+jay cee Only from the waist down. XD
Yeah you are right in ancient greek history there are over 100+ monsters with snake parts!!
maybe because of the danai or dannan their symbol is a snake and these guys were from middle of Greece and then went west to Ireland and DANmark.
I think the Spartans had "kinship" with the Dan or Maccabees... whichever Samson was from..ergo the long haired Greeks Spartans.
Lots of Mingling back then.
see the you tube the lost tribe of Dan by Simka the naked archaeology guy.
We love covering mythology! What other topics can we cover? Check out our Mythology playlist if you get a chance!

and I'm not talking about the well known Egyptian gods, I did search RUclips and found nothing, can you guys give it a try? be the first.
I THOUGHT ZEUS TURNED INTO A BULL SO HE COULD MATE WITH THE CURSED LADY THAT LOVES BULLS! WE WERE STUDYING GREEK MYTHS AND MY TEACHER TOLD THE CLASS THAT! MY CLASSMATE SAID "Zeus has problems." THEN MY TEACHER SAID "Yes he does."
LostMidnight Zeus changed into a lot of people and had a lot of sex
hospitalcakewalk ................yep he has problems. Poor.......I just forgot his wife's name.
LostMidnight Hera, queen of the gods? (i know that because my rl name is Iris, who was the greek messenger of her, lol)
I was under that impression too about Zeus turning into a bull. All I can say is... them Greek Gods just have so much petty problems and never sort themselves that they take out their issues on the lesser mortals.
One of Zeus's problems is Hera.
Medusa is having bad hair days
She did the first Jamaican, with ringlets. Way before Bob Marley.
Greek mythology is a very hard topic, every myth has different variations depending on different sources, the most stable and constant are the 12 labours of Hercules, by the way top10archive, you mantioned some heroes in this list, can you make a top 10 ancient Greek heroes beside Hercules, Achilles and Oddyseus?????
+Manuel Sacha yes that would be easier )))
Heracles* :p
+박현재 Ηρακλής in Greek 😉
+Stas Kilinkaridis
And hercules in latin :)
+박현재 Are u from Korea?
greek mythology is better than all mythologys
Paul E Quade All mythology is the best that's my opinion.
Paul E Quade hebrew mythology is the best as the mesiah is our savior and God wanted us to be with him in His kingdom forever. These so called Gods are jelous, irrational and selfish shits...
I like Norse too.....
Paul E Quade you like selfish, unfair and irrational Gods than others? Hebrew mythology is the best... Jesus died for us... and he wants us to be with him.
Hebrew myth is cool. But i am not willing to pay church tax for it.
What's Percy doing there?
He's a actual person in Greek mythology
Percy and Perseus are 2 different people even though they have they same name. Perseus that slayed Medusa is son of Zeus. Persuse Jackson is son of posiden.
@@amberhutcherson9759 no read the first chapters of the lighting theif
+Top10archive is precious Percy Jackson
😀😁😀😀😀😀😀
The Furys weren't goddesses, they were servants of Hades, Cerberus didn't have snakes, Typhon didn't have wings, snakes,or much else. Typhon was an immortal giant of storms, he could summon a hurricane and was the secret weapon of Gaea and Kronos in the Titan and Giant wars, he was also known as the bane of Olympus.
Music Dragon yep
Music Dragon percy Jackson thought me that
And that, my friend is why ppl need to read Percy Jackson
+Angelina M
Typhon (also Typheous) is not featured in the Titanomachy. He was the son of Gaia and Tartaros, sent to overthrow Zeus and the Olympians in order to avenge the imprisonment of Gaia's children, the Titans. The hound Cerberus is sometimes said to have a mane comprised of snakes and/or a serpent for a tail.
My dog is called Cerberus
jealous girls = jealous goddess
You talking about Hera?
@@KG-ds2fj about athena and Hera....
@@ms.elaine0857 no,Hera and Aphrodite is the jealous one
Most women are jealous and greedy!
@@台獨萬歲-h4l I- kinda offended
one monster that I remember from mythology was the Hydra, which was a serpent that if you cut off its head two more will grow back I know of three ways of how to kill it:1. Crush it with rocks and/or boulders (Hecules).2. Once the head is cut off, immeditly burn the stub so it can not produce a new head.3. Use Maduse's head to turn it to stone (Percy Jackson).
It also was extremely venomous and poisonous. It's blood was particularly deadly. So much so that Hercules dipped his arrows in it.
You must of not read the Percy Jackson books because if my memory serves correctly in the book they had a child of ares shoot celestial bronze canyon balls at they hydra...
Oh ok
Not Hecules, not Hercules, HERACLES.
aww you missed Scylla
also didnt Zeus flee to egypt or something out of fear of Typhon? i vaguely remember reading something like that lol, keep up the great work cant wait for the other mythology lists
+MARY TODD what happened was Hermes found Zeus, and with the help of Pan made Typhon fall asleep or slow him down atleast, afterwards he took the sinews and they beated Typhon
+I Just Work Here where do you get this information
It was typfon running away from zeus all over the globe, zeus finally beat him in Italy and lock the titan under Etna the volcano, according to myth when the volcano erupt it's typfon that try to get out
Make a video of "Top 10 Creatures from Egyptian Mythology". We could learn alot from that.
+andrew ast Got it in the works sir :)
Mr. Saf... Have you ever experienced watching an egyptian mythology video before? It's all fascinating! Try to see a video in RUclips called "Top 5 Ancient Egyptian Gods" from the channel "All Top 5s". It's about egyptian gods but not about the creatures. Take a look... It's really interesting.
If u read PJO you'll know all of them
And Athena is not the goddess of wisdom and crafts its WISDON AND WARFARE
Dragon Destroyer Or if you're greek, lol😂
"Goddess of wisdom, war and the crafts"
Neither
ive just loved greek mythology since i was a kid
And HO
You butchered some of the names, but I gotta give you props for actually calling heracles by his Greek name instead of the much more well known Roman variation!
+dumpling321 Jim uses the Webster Merriam pronunciations I do believe which you can look them up here.

Hera needs to chill out
And Athena. For a goddess of wisdom, she certainly didn't like the truth being put in front of her.
@@MarkATorres1989 Athena not!
Athena doesn’t. Hera..... well, I wouldn’t insult her
Love the stories behind these guys. How the peacock came to be was really interesting. cerberus and the minotaur are my favorites though.
