    my step dad is a trucker and he once told me how if he drives for too long hell see a black hound running beside his truck and that its a warning that the trucker needs to stop. a lot of truckers including my dad have claimed to see this dog and they all describe it similarly as a very large black/shadowy hound. sometimes with red eyes sometimes with no discernable eyes but theyll all agree that whenever someone sees the dog they need to stop driving as soon as possible and sleep or else they always crash. sounds pretty similar to Gwyllgi as well as the england legend of the demon hounds

    I don't know if I would be scared to meet a banshee. True, nobody wants to hear that they're going to die...on the other hand though, if you know _when_ you're going to die, you can start doing everything on your bucket list before the end (especially if the banshee is nice enough to let you know far enough in advance). I seem to have a thing for waiting to the last minute on everything anyway, so if I know that I won't have another chance, I might actually accomplish something.

    • @daviemeister3355
      @daviemeister3355 6 лет назад +2

      That isn't how life works... You don't need a monster to frighten you before you can act. the fact that you are conscious of knowing that waiting till the last minute is wrong, use it to right that wrong. If we need someone or some Thing to scare us into doing something, which we should already be doing for our own good, then nobody would truly understand it or the reasons why you should do it or the importance of it. How do you think it's wrong to wait until the last minute? because you realize that all the opportunities you could have had would be wasted and you may not get a second chance at life or that certain area of it. It's kind of a rule to make us humans realize the value of what we have. Maybe thats why laziness in itself is wrong and always frowned upon.

    • @ragnar97
      @ragnar97 7 лет назад +1

      Doesn't the witcher include monsters that have a counterpart in the celtic mythology?
      It is not rare for different mythologies to have different names for the same thing. For example Strigoi, vampires and lamias are essentially the same thing, except lamia is exclusively female, but still, different words from different regions for the same things.
      Another example, Abhartach, a guy who fought against his people, was killed and came back from the dead to retake his kingdom and demand a blood tribute, and was later killed with a wooden sword, isn't that essentially Dracula? It is even similar to the history of Vlad the Impaler(who inspired dracula), who was sold as an infant to be tortured and raped for over a decade till he escaped and retook his kingdom, essentially returning from the dead since everyone assumed he wouldn't have endured the torture. He also fought his people lead by his relatives several times and impaled his enemies (which could be considered a blood tribute)
      Just switch the names to the celtic ones and there you have your celtic game xD

The game was callef Soul Reaver and in the game one of the common enemies in the spectral realm are the Sluag. Its fascinating that many tv shows, movies , and video games put so much effort in finding real world myths to incorporate into their own fiction.

    I would definitely want to meet a Banshee! Yes. She would the last thing I would ever see before I die. I am more than aware of this. The Banshee has always been portrayed as a vibrant, beautiful woman. And I can think of worse ways to go out than seeing a scantily clad lady.

      Joshua Preston actually, she is also often depicted as an old woman, so there's like a 50% chance that you'd see an ugly hag or a sexy maiden

      My uncle used to insist he heard the Banshee screeching down Tipperary Town Main Street one night,though he was probably romancing! You are correct about the appearance, but whatever she looked like,your man wouldn't want to meet her if he heard her first, she'd blow the eardrums out of him,hahaha!!

    So interesting! I come from Brittany, the celtic region of France, and we do have some lovely creatures from our celtic origins, wich are still feared today (breton poeple is very supersticious): 1)the Anaons: souls of dead people, they can't find peace for some reason, and hauting the lands. That's why some land of Brittany (especially cliffs) have the reputation to be dangerous: if you walk there at night, you may see an Anaon, and it will kill you. 2) Night washerwomen: they are gosts too, and every night, they wash laundry in the river, representing the souls of new-born babies, dead before baptism, and washing is supposed to purify these souls. If you disturb them, they broke your arms and drawn you into the river. 3) The most famous in Brittany: the Ankou. He is the incarnation of death, a tall, skinny man with a black cloak and a large hat, carrying a scythe with the blade upside down. With it, he separate the soul from the body, put the soul on his carriage and bring it to the other world. As the carriage is old, the wheels are creaking, doing the sound "wig-ha-wag". Breton people say: "If you hear the "wig-ha-wag", you will die before the end of the year." There are many other creatures in breton mythology, like korrigans, morganed, the ghost of Dahut, etc...and it makes this region very interesting!^^
