Sydney’s jig is up!! 🤞
Sydney is NOT the victim! Brenda is! Remember that!
Her attorney thought otherwise!
This girl isn't insane. She's manipulative. She had the quick thinking and presence of mind to impersonate her dead mother on the phone.

Yep but her white privilege will give her a pass. Wait and see white privilege at work
Exactly
Its the same with every killer. Especially ones that kill a loved one. The intruder story
Then after to claim insanity
She is the same as the rest
You know I really hope it happens to u because if you do not know schizophrenia, I want u to find out. So people can judge u... because that's what America is good for just judging the innocent because this was was truly sick just because she isn't acting crazy now
He is the one that makes sense in all of this .. the only thing she suffers from is “spoiled brat”
I agree
If she loved her mother how but how could she kill her? She couldn't be in her right mine deranged at the least. But for the gram to take her in no way I wouldn't be able to sleep at night.Never to be trusted again put her away for life.

YES!!!
I don't think so... Schizophrenia is something a person has no control over, is no joke, and I think she was suffering from it already
100% guilty! She even tried to cover it up! Guilty!
I agree
Yes, she’s not crazy she’s a murderer.
She started lying immediately after doing it. Of course she’s guilty.
She was lying on the phone as she was doing it. As her mother lay dying at her feet.
Of course she gonna lied she think she could she gonna get away with it that shows she's crazy
She was lying to her parents and friends for months prior to murdering her mother.
@@llhannah9297 she was trying to cover up the murder.

Having just bludgeoned her mother with 7-8 heavy blows and then stabbed her in the neck a few dozen times, of course she was in shock. It was a horrific murder. Doesn't mean she didn't know what she'd done enough to concoct a "break in" story.
If she’d had a complete psychotic breakdown, she wouldn’t have had the wherewithal to try and cover up the crime by saying there was a break in.
Also she used a pan as well so had the time to grab another weapon to make sure she finished the job😢
A psychotic person could still do all these things.

@@lancedom6349no. They wouldn’t be able to fake a coherent narrative. Unless you mean psychotic as in a violent person attacking people. And then they can absolutely come up with a lie to cover their tracks once they calm down a little.
@lancedom6349 If someone DIDN'T understand the wrongfullness of his/her actions, why would the individual attempt to cover it up? Do you often try to cover up actions that you don't believe to be wrong?
Guilty for sure. My birth mother is a horrible human being. I was a victim of severe child abuse. Yet I would not think of killing her. As much as I hate her for abusing me. I never for a moment want to kill her. Instead, I ran away at 15 years old. That was in 1980. You just don't kill someone and think you can get away with it.
Exactly this is because u aren't suffering from a severe mental illness.
Well, the rest of the family seem happy with her getting away with it, so maybe she does think that way?

She is a white rich female. She isn’t going to jail. They rarely do 🤷🏻♂️🇺🇸🙈
No offense… I hope that’s not the case!🤞
Absolutely! I’ll lose faith in our System if she’s not convicted. How dare her family think “we’d like to just drop it” No. she murderer her own mom.
Exactly it doesn’t get any worse than killing the person who gave you life. 😰
Agreed. She is not suffering from illness or insanity. She's an entitled brat. Her mother confronted her about being expelled, and her mother did everything for her. She even got her nails did and smiling in court. A narcissistic is at its best. She should pay for her crime. I hope the juries see right through her manipulation. She has no remorse. And she should be condemned. And I'm sick of hearing insanity or mental illness as an excuse everytime someone commits a crime.
She needs to be treated like any criminal
I don’t see a schizophrenic person
The fact that her dad did not take his phone home says a lot he was trying to catch her so obviously she’s not the trustworthy little angel but they want to act like she is because if you’re trusting your child, you’re just calling her at home and being like hey what are you doing at home or you’re just driving home like it’s normal to grab some lunch with her and talk to her but he was trying to catch her. He left his phone so that she wouldn’t know he was coming home.
yah. they keep trying to paint her as the perfect student and child but she is far from that. her mom used the term “scam” which is pretty strong. she lied so much that her dad knew something was wrong too. also, her dad knew it wouldn’t be easy dealing with sydney so he called Brenda to deal with sydney- he went back to work. if she was so sweet and non-argumentative as they kept painting her as, why couldn’t he figure it out with her? he had already left work and was already home…instead, he calls brenda…
Would someone please tell the defense attorneys and anyone that is calling this WOMAN a "kid." She was 20 years old. That is an adult! If that were a male would they be calling him a "kid?"
True!! I’m surprised they didn’t call her a little girl 🙄
Yes, they would. When you watch trials of young adult males, defense attorneys do the same thing, trying to use their young age and brain development as an excuse. They try the 'kid' defense whenever possible, male or female. We saw it way back with the Menendez brothers ("the boys"), and it's in common practice today.
Fair enough. Legit comment.
Nothing to do with gender. They called Chandler Halderson a kid, he was 23 when he killed his parents. Similar case, similar motive
It's not uncommon to refer to a young person as a *Kid* and it has nothing to do with the person being *Male* or *Female* . You're being dramatic over much to do 'bout nothin'.
She killed her mother to avoid her web of lies being discovered. Not because she was insane. Justice for Brenda should be a guilty verdict for the one who took her life. A spoiled, entitled, liar, who had no love for the woman who gave her life.

He really didn't leave a loophole, and emphasized the web ob lies and attempts to cover her crime that are a stark contrast to her insanity claim. Excellent and a pleasure to watch.
I agree
I would also agree. More importantly, though, he didn't take pot shots at the expert clinicians, family members, or even Sydney herself. Having the truth on his side is only half the battle. The jury must also view him as fair and relatable. Jurors have much more difficulty siding with an attorney who comes across as harsh or vindictive, simply looking for a courtroom win. You never know how a jury will rule, but I'll be very surprised if this jury doesn't hand down a guilty verdict.

Yes: and I’m
A bit worried about her grandma’s well being around her.
The fact her dad and grandma are still covering for her explains everything. I hold them partially responsible. This defendant has not been accountable her entire life. If left to her family she can do no wrong. So she hurt her mom and it’s not a stretch to imagine she will hurt someone not as familiar next time. Maybe someone doesn’t give his seat to her on the bus or a neighbor gets in her way…she always gets what she wants. Hoping for a guilty verdict and a long prison sentence where she can meet ppl who can show her real mental illness and more knife skills.
I said that to my mother today..bc I'm my grandparents favourite!😂..I can literally do NO wrong with them!..but THIS..yeah..they'd turn on me for sure
My grandparents would have shown support by driving me to the police station!! 😂
If she hasn’t been held accountable all of her life, why then did she decide to kill instead of spinning another lie or getting her dad to talk to her mom and help her find something else to do while she’s out of college?
I hear you. I'm wondering why the mother is being painted as a Saint rather than a human who may have put a lot of pressure on Sydney to be perfect. Perhaps Sydney's attorneys think the best way to go about keeping Sydney out of prison for the rest of her life is the insanity plea. By painting a picture of a mother/daughter relationship as best friends and blaming it on a mental disorder. Perhaps it is conceivable that the mother put a ton of pressure on Sydney, causing her to snap when she couldn't keep it together at college. Either way, she brutally took a human life which is punishable by law. Can you imagine how much is not being said?
Exactly, anyone taking up for her should take her home.
I pray that the jury sees through this bs insane plea because I believe she knew EXACTLY what she was doing!
She did! She’s another psychopath. She has no empathy for others. Her mental illness is based in PERSONALITY and she can determine right from wrong! She needs life in prison!
Me to! Not a tear that I can see spoiled brat!
I believe so too. She tried covering up the crime, insane people don't know to cover thing up.
Yup..she is living on a 100 acres horse farm…spoiled brat!

Excellent closing for the State, jury needs to find her fakeness and deliver a verdict of Guilty for the vicious heinous murder of her own mother
If they consider the facts then they have to find her guilty.
Very well put together as a closing argument ! The only insane thing is the comprehension that she could kill her own mother just to hide her own failure at university rather than discuss it with a family who loved her
I know, it would be hard to believe if it weren't for several high-profile cases we've seen of relatively well-functioning, even intelligent and affluent, people who will kill when a big secret they are hiding is about to be revealed. If you follow court cases and true crime, there are many such cases.
Right. She’s an spoiled rotten brat. She needs to meet the meaning of responsibility for her actions. Putting her fingers in her ears … crying with NO TEARS 🙄. She a heartless witch with B. Nothing more nothing less, she is a cold hearted murderer. 🤦🏼♀️🤢

Her not moving out of the dorm isn’t because she’s delusional it’s because she was delaying as much as possible probably until spring break rolled around. But administration wasn’t having it
It was a 19 year old tantrum!!
@@JustLikeJulia9 That’s what I say…..an adult tantrum.
This girl was an honor student living a great life and over her freshman year her brain started to malfunction. She was probably confused as hell as why she couldn't memorize things and perform like she always had. Most of these mental illnesses present in their late teens for the first time. That's what happened to our family member and it devastated our family. Our family member also tried to handle everything herself until things just started to unravel. It is an illness. Hospital not prison is the answer in my humble opinion. @Juke582
Yes this can definitely happen, but there are many many resources that schools can provide, and if she didn’t want her family to know, about getting help then that’s okay, the services at school are free, available and confidential. If let’s say she was becoming depressed and she couldn’t function or do as well in school as before then that’s okay, talk administration, what are the options she has, what can she do. Speak openly to your parents about what is going on inside your mind and head and if the person needs help with permission the school can help with that. But she didn’t do that, she just continued to lie and lie. Mount union showed that they were willing to help her, they didn’t just kick her out, 3 times they tried to talk to her and tried to help her out even help break it to her parents so she wouldn’t be alone while she does it. The way she attacked her mom was violent, idk what Sydney might have, it may not be schizo but it’s definitely something else. She is conscious of what she did no doubt, but I mean unless Sydney wants to be honest as to why she felt killing her mom was the only solution then we will never know and if she continues to lie then she will never find resolution even with herself I think
You forget the big part that SHAME has when talking about mental illness. The fact that she was such a good student and daughter made it worse.@@elizabethfigueroa6159

I think Sydney was going to RUNN AWAY in her car, BUT, the lawyer said, Brenda parked HER CAR in the driveway. . .up to the garage door AND SYDNEY COULDN'T DRIVE AWAY without MOVING her mother's car first. . .BUT the Police were on the wayyyyy! All that blood all over her? How far could she have ran plastered in BLOOD? ? She knew exactly what she was doing she became “ Schizophrenic “ after she committed the horrible crime!! Poor mother 😔 ..
Not even then. Rather she is riddled with guilt and trying to live with her lie ! Must give her nightmares at night - and so it should
Schizophrenia usually presents itself in the late 20s and early 30s in women. It's very possible that she finally had her first "psychotic episode." I do believe this young lady is suffering from mental illness
And the drs are psychologists, not Psychiatrists
Whom generally are ones that diagnose on top of there would have been way more psychological signs prior to killing
If she had it since she was 11 people would have noticed odd behaviour. Another lie. She had friends and a bubbly personality, maybe the center of attention. Under the surface manipulating things to be adored. Adoration is loved by narcissists. Nobody noticed she had any schizophrenia symptoms from the age of 11 onward? Give me a break! Her poor mother, her life cut short.
Schizophrenia is enormously difficult to diagnose@@Dustandfuzz
They way her family supports her after this action, you can see why she did it. She has never had to be responsible for anything bad in her life. Always probably had people giving her excuses to get out of anything.
Weak parenting. Quite pathetic..
The fact the father and family apparently are welcoming her back with open arms, told me enough about her upbringing and more than likely the reason she turned out the way she did. She’s not mentally unstable. Nothing she does warrants strict correction and punishment … wow!

Or what if the mother put a ton of stress on Sydney to succeed, and when Sydney was failing at college she tried hard to cover it up rather than face her mother's wrath. Still, no good reason to brutally kill her mom but it's a better reason than a psychotic break and then trying to cover it up. Don't understand why they're all trying to figure out WHY?. Entitled daughter who's highly manipulative, a committed liar who doesn't want to work anymore. Dad's the soft touch - controllable. Putty in her hands. Mom's the tough one. What to do? Get rid of Mom & claim insanity. VOILA! Problem solved. 😢
Psychopath!
Why should we or the jury believe what Sydney is said about her mother coming from someone who had lied so many times before? Remember, her mother texted her, “Sydney, why do I feel you are always scamming us?” “Sydney, what’s this lie you are telling your father about the library? If you are working in the library, we are not going to give you any money.”
So I do not believe her mother hugged her and said everything was going to be alright. I won’t be surprised that she was mad at her for lying all that time.
I believe she killed her because her mother was mad at her for lying.
Exactly 💯
Woah
🎯
Because Sidney is a Sociopath
Great closing argument! There is no doubt she is guilty and needs to pay the price for taking the life of her Mother. Instead of being honest with her family about her failures. She knows they are about to find out everything and kills her Mom in a fit of total rage.
I know someone who is currently going through bipolar psychosis, it's beyond horrific, this chick would never have even thought of covering anything up if she was going through anything that the experts mentioned. Guilty IMHO.
Well done ❤👏👏👏 He hit every point concisely.
This prosecutor deserves tremendous credit for how thoroughly he delivers this closing argument! Absolutely amazing!
Excellent closing argument!! Guilty!
Excellent closing arguments- well done Prosecution 👏
what a wonderful prosecutor.
As a mother of two children, I am saddened because it seems children don't kill or hurt bad person, but generally they abuse and sometimeskill the parents who really care and would die for them.
I pray "someone" is protecting her grandparents! She is living with them all during the trial. No matter what... during deliberation, imo, the defendant needs to be returned to the custody of a hospital or jail.
Please keep her grandmother and grandfather safe. They're isolated with her on a 100-acre farm.
I can't imagine my child being so scared too tell me something. Especially if they were sooo close like twins it just doesn't add up
@@karlishajames4394 She was ashamed of herself. She didn't want her parents to find out, and would've killed the father as well, if he didn't wake her up, by telling her the police was coming. She wasn't scared, she was too proud.
She Brutally killed her mother. She tried to make it look like a Breakin. She knew right from wrong. She has PTSD because she Killed her Mom!!Please throw the Book at Her!!
Statistically speaking children Murdering their Parents is Very rare , more Parents Murdering their own kids but even that is rare however all things take place under the Sun and We should all strive at all times NOT to Contribute to any Negative Designs for momentary satisfaction that can have devastating Consiquences for Ever ! ✨💖💝💗
The prosecutor did a great job. He’s tough but fair.
Prosecutor did a great job for his closing., respectful and clearly broke down the evidence. IMO she is guilty and knew what she is doing. I worry that the jury may feel for her family and not want to take anymore from them by convicting her. They clearly love her and support her but the reality is she knew what she was doing and Brenda needs justice. We can’t just allow people to kill others because they cannot handle the stress of life.
This was a great closing argument. If I were on the jury, I would definitely vote guilty, no insanity.
Guilty! No question about it!
Mental health is not insanity. 💯
Excellent closing argument
Finally justice for a MOM who didn't deserve to be killed FOR A DAUGHTER'S LIES and just trying to keep her successful
Guilty. Insanity defense not adding up.
Great work to Police, the experts & Prosecution. 👏👏👏
Guilty verdict! She was aware of what she was doing all along. Quit pampering this lying, spoiled, entitled young adult that took it out on her Mother for getting caught. Daddy will help me, and he did. SMH
He is a fair prosecutor.
Just because you might have been a model student or such a wonderful person as her crazy defense said does not take away the fact that this girl made the choice to take her mother's life. She deserves nothing less than a GUILTY verdict!
Guilty Verdict👍 The State did an Outstanding Job on this case 👍
Her dad was suspicious enough, that he left his phone at his work. So he wouldn't alert Sydney to his movement by the 360° app.
Guilty. She knew right from wrong.
I firmly believe she's guilty. But I could see a hung jury. Unfortunately some people will only see her tears and hear paid experts saying that she didn't mean it.. and use that as an out. It reminds me of Casey Anthony, as guilty as she was the jury couldn't do it.
I hope she's found guilty. Her mother deserved so much better.
Maybe find her guilty the next time she kills someone 🙄
@@Dustandfuzz hopefully she's found guilty this time, and has limited ability to kill again. Ideally the jury will see through the tears and nonsense, but I've seen more than a few young killers go free, so I'm just setting my expectations accordingly.

The state didn't meet their burden of proof beyond a reasonable doubt in the Casey Anthony trial. The jury responded to that fact, and when Anthony's attorney introduced George Anthony as a suspect in Caylee's death, the state couldn't prove otherwise. I think we all know Casey was guilty as sin, but the jury was actually correct in finding her not guilty. Jose Baez wasn't the greatest attorney, but he did have the b*lls to make outrageous, untrue claims against Casey's father, and it sent the case into a tailspin.
She knows right from wrong because she lied about someone breaking in. If she suffers from blackouts to the point she killed someone she is a danger to society. She cannot be allowed out to do it again. Not anytime soon. She knew she wasn't enrolled because she told the administrator. She didn't won't to face that she failed and disappoint her family.
Great closing. I liked particularly how careful he chose his words about the doctors testimonies and her personality, yet how he still hammered home the facts without coming across as hostile or agressive. It's obvious he forced himself to keep from from any pitfalls that could help the defense win an appeal.
Oh this prosecutor is good! And she’s not “crying” and wiping her face, she’s shook and straight faced cuz she knows he got it all correct and has been finally called out on her bs
The prosecution’s closing and rebuttal were excellent.
I like this prosecutor. He hasn’t been aggressive, has been gentle with the family and isn’t using hype to stir up emotions. You almost get the sense that he sees it one way but doesn’t want to bully anyone into a defeat. He argues his points, doesn’t go overboard and is fine with handing it to the jury. If they come back with an NGI verdict, he’ll be okay with that.
This prosecutor did a great job. Hope the jury follows through.
