My heart goes out to the young son, who lost his mother, because of his evil sister, and now lost his whole family, because of his selfish sister. He must feel so alone, because who can argue with such a wall of denial. I hope the jury makes the right decision, and see right through her half-baked stories, and lies that she had to make up, as the scenes changed. So it's hard to say if he's a believer or a great defense attorney. And I guess I don't care. I generally just think about how the jury would feel sitting there. And in this case, I'm uneasy. I'm definitely not confident that the jury will come back guilty.

Fact : You can be both mentally ill and commit a conscious violent murder. She may have a mental illness or 3, but she also committed murder at the exact moment that her mother was about to unravel the spider web of Sydney's lies. I don't believe in coincidence. You're either hallucinating OR you know the college is calling, you can't intermix them both and toss in a random intruder too. Its garbage.
I think she's depressed, I think she's clearly demonstrated an adjustment issue. But I think she knew damn well the moment her mom got into a conversation with thw college admins, her lies would crumble. That was a logical course of events, I'd even say its motive, but it wasn't a delusion. Her life was in fact falling apart. She hit her mom over the head with a frying pan! She didn't scream "oh my god someone broke in", she pretended to BE her mom, then proceeded to stab her dozens of times. Thats not schizo, that's intention.

She’s putting on the poor little me face now that her defence attorney is talking, I don’t believe that she didn’t know what she was doin at the time of murdering her own mother, she lied on at least 3 occasions during this violent act, if I was on the jury she would be straight out Guilty.

i’m so confused about his last words of his closing - the part of him being a catholic and praying the four simple words that defines what he does == please “help us right now”. i’m not catholic so i don’t understand …it actually gave me the creeps 😂

To me, he’s reaching! His entire closing didn’t feel genuine and he seemed uncomfortable etc. Along with that really close whisper in her ear… it felt creepy to me too! He’s exploiting Brenda’s death for Sydney’s (undeserving) gain! imo

IMO, she needs to be held accountable for her murdering her mother! This Pleading insanity is all an excuse! I agree she has issues, ANGER issues! I don't believe she didn't know what she was doing. She got so angry and couldn't stop. That doesn't mean I'm going to plea insanity and get off the hook. Her mom was onto her lies & she was finally getting confronted. Such a sad case for many. She needs it's to be punished for what she did. I hope the jury can see through all of this Insanity crap.

I wouldn't live with her if she is not charged for murdering her mother and most probably planning to kill her father. The "voices" might make me her next victim.

I think this was an absolutely brilliant description of the onset of severe mental illness in a young person. I once had a client who crashed out of Harvard in a similar manner (without the violence) He spent his days sitting in coffee shops and could not hold a conversation.

The phoniness of the defence is so apparent on the appearance of Sydney. Why is her hair isn't even combed properly? Where is decent clothing and a little makeup, just to resemble her look before the murder? They deliberately make her *look* like an insane person. I hate their tactic, it's so transparent, such a cheep trick. Hope the jury doesn't fall for it.

You can graduate high school with honors but College is a lot harder. It's nothing like highschool & she thought she'd keep those grades high with no bumps a long the way. Handing in papers & projects on time from numerous courses that are all due @ the same time isn't easy & college professors don't give you extra time. She wasn't thinking it was going to be so hard & demanding yet she didn't want to tell her parents. I don't think she thought she be kicked out before she could think of something. She doesn't like to be accountable for her short comings. She obviously has lied about other things bc her Mother has caught her before & she sure didn't want to explain to her Mom why she didn't say anything when her grades we're tanking. I said that none of her college friends would testify that she was hallucinating or hearing voices & none of them did. She not schizophrenic she may be immature, narcissist & used to being the best @ everything she's put her mind too until heading off to College. My son is intelligent & was an honor role student in highschool yet when he started College he spent 15 hours a day some days in the Library working on projects & papers that seemed like they we're all due @ the same time. It was crazy to me how much work he had to do but he made it through 3 years & was on the Dean's list. Sydney thought it wasn't going to be so demanding & she couldn't hack it & should have taken a leave of absence & tell her parents. People in her Community like Sydney but that's when things we're going Sydney's way so I'm not surprised they buy this crock of beans! This family lost so much & they'd rather believe Sydney is suffering from this mental illness bc they think as everyone does that you knew everything about that person. I hope this Jury isn't blinded by this illness that she doesn't suffer from it's unjust for those who do suffer from Schizophrenia & Sydney's symptoms just aren't their but it's the only one the Defense can use to get her off. God help parents if she does walk! Ontario, 🇨🇦

Ummmm there’s no defense here. She may have snapped….but she knew exactly what was going on and took steps to actively hide what she did. That’s not delusional….that’s methodical.
