She answered the call from the school, tried so sound like her mother, and hung up when she was found out! That seems like a very calculated and clear minded decision!
It is. She knew exactly what she was doing. She murdered her then tried to blame it on someone else. The only thing left was for her to say it was a black man!!!
This exactly was my conclusion as to why the insanity plea does not work here. I'm surprised your comment was the first one I saw lol. It could be argued, though, that her decision to end mom's life was a heat-of-passion thing that wouldve been very unlike Sydney's otherwise normal day-to-day behavior
She fine. ..... Not crazy; she's a bad bad bad bad girl. ....we've all been pissed off at our mothers sometimes, but, we don't bludgeon them and then stab their throats....OFF the JAIL with her.
Her mom asked 'why do I feel like you are always scamming me?' Reply, 'my grades are fine, thank you!' This is not schizophrenia. It's a liar. And her mom knew it. She just couldn't pull it off for as long as Chandler Halderson or Jennifer Pan could.
Totally agree with all the above^ and maybe I didn’t get there yet, but where did they go over the texts? I must have misssed it but am super curious to hear more
I couldn't agree more! She is spoiled and evil. She beat her mother to death to prevent her from finding out about her suspension. She is manipulative and cunning, mentally ill absolutely not! She knew what she was doing and tried to blame it on an intruder!
In her so-called psychotic state after murdering her mother, she has the wherewithal to say there was a break in 🙄🙄🙄 that’s not a mental state… that’s planning 🤦♀️
@@Lucinda_JacksonPeople are generally stupid. I read these comments about planning and psychosis and i realise that those people have no idea about psychosis, delusional thinking and paranoid delusions.
Interesting, that she attacked the only person who was very vocal and disappointed about her lies, her Mother! . Not her dad, because her dad was like "its okay, we will get thru this" ....
Black nails....how appropriate. She must have gone to the nail salon on her way to counseling. Shes 20 yrs old not 10. The way the court has coddled her is so unjust. Watching her doodle makes me mad. She's got a good act going on. If she doesn't go to prison we will see her in court again. It's disturbing that her family is not upset by what she did.
all these kind of defendants exist in one form or another because of the kind of family who bring them up. theres no empathy ever it seems for the victim only the living person involved in the crime. sickening
Shes not insane. She instantly came up with a plan, right after bludgeoning her Moms head 7 times, on how to blame it on an intruder. She even tried to pretend she was her Mom on the phone.
She even had the ability to recognize her fingerprints would be on the knife so she told the responding officer she had picked up the knife. Seems pretty intentional and like rational thinking to me.
Oh yeah what an instant and brilliant plan! Come on. She said someone else did it. That’s a gut reaction, not a premeditated plot to get away with murder. If she’s in the midst of psychosis, she doesn’t automatically forget how the world works. She knows she killed her mom and she knows the cops will take her to jail if they know it was her. So she says it was an intruder. That hardly required a ton of rational thought.
@@trickortrump3292it is not legal insanity unless she HAS forgotten how the world works. You just made the case for knowing right from wrong, which legally means she was not insane
@@FizzleFrazle That is not true. Forgetting how the world works is absolutely not required for insanity. Psychosis causes specific delusions. Having delusions about her mom that made her believe her mom had to be killed, doesn’t automatically mean she is having delusions about the police.
she tried to cover up her crime. That's speaks of consciousness of right vs wrong. She does not deserve an insanity plea. Insanity does not mean not wanting to face consequences, or life. She deserves jail and I hope the jury sees through this nonsense.
Female = guaranteed she's not going to get the death penalty (if that was in play), guaranteed she's not going to get life in prison. I'd say 15 years to life with possibility of parole after 15 years.
It just seems odd to me that she has her schizo break at the exact moment her mother is discovering her lies. Timing is convenient. Not saying she isn’t mentally ill, but might be closer to psychopathy rather than schizophrenia. I’ve had schizophrenic students in my career, just doesn’t seem like the stories they told me of there breaks. She lived the lie, found herself shelter, gamed the university as long as she could, doesn’t sound like anything other than a student who really screwed up. Why she screwed up would be worth knowing. Doesn’t sound like she was partying. Glad I’m not on the jury but all my doubt is about her being insane. Too many actions that aren’t in line with being disconnected from reality.
Exactly. She wasn't partying. Her diagnosis would of most certainly lead to the grades dropping so low and her feeling that she needed to hide that she was thrown out of school. And the downward spiral was so fast. I truly believe in her diagnosis. I don't look at her nails or hair and judge. Everyone is different. Even going to school and seeming to believe she was still a student. There's so much that make her look like she lost touch with reality. I actually believe the insanity defense with this one. She isn't anything like Leticia Stauch. I don't thing she was melingering. I don't think she was lying.... I think she believed her version of reality. She was hearing things. I will not be shocked if she is sent to a hospital instead. And doesn't anyone think.... she is going to get treatment and they won't set her free until she is better. Then she will go on and wake-up to her actual reality. She killed her mom. She has to live with that once she is treated and healed. IF that even happens. I don't feel I'm an expert by no means but her insanity defense has me convinced based on the facts. How she acted. Her history in school. I hope she gets help. 🙏
She is malingering… I can’t stand the injustice in this trial, shame on the judge for coddling her, and her family is disgusting. That poor victim’s mother is supporting that brat. I’m out.
It's disgusting that the judge doesn't make her stay in court room. Persons who get a dui and teens caught underage drinking even outside a car, take dui classes that include videos with dead dui crash victims. People they did not themselves kill. This pos is so above the law she isn't required to look at her own gore?? Defense is probably afraid she would get too giddy looking. A lot of sociopaths like the vile crime scene photos. She didn't hold back creating hers. Probably couldn't hold back getting excited over reliving it.

Sadly, her mom loved her so much that, if she was still alive, she'd probably give her blessings to everyone covering for this spoiled & selfish young lady. Not justice!!
Not defending her actions. But I've experienced psychosis during manic episodes. And I had no idea that my thought patterns were delusional. And so I didn't share what was going on in my head. And when I finally talked to my psychiatrist, I couldn't parse out what was factual vs what might not be real vs what might just be religious beliefs. I was pretty convinced that an evil entity was surrounding my house. And I kept hearing sounds like someone trying to break in or footsteps in my house. I was always the only person who heard these noises. I was the only one that felt like there was evil lurking outside my house.
😢 i honestly think people really need to sit through a crisis intervention training. I learned ALOT and mental health and how devastating it can be to live with it and/or live with someone who has these episodes. Its scary. I really, truly have empathy for these people bc they cannot help it. They have no idea...like you said, they can't see whats delusional and what's real. It's awful.
She is both. She is NOW diagnosed with schizophrenia. You have clearly never witnessed people going thru this. Its very terrifying and sad at the same time. You cannot help what you are doing. You cannot see whats delusional and whats real when going thru these episodes. Ìts very sad. Please note, I do not in any way shape, or form think she doesn't deserve to be punished. Im merely trying to summarize what its like to witness this. Mental health help is in the US is awful. Give them pills and send them on their way. That kind of diagnoses, you cannot do that to a person. THEY need to be monitored, in patient until they find a medicine that works for the patient. Any way, maybe I helped you understand a little bit, maybe I just made some mad. Everyone be kind, you have no idea what someone else is battling. Have a great night.

If this woman/child gets off it will be such a tragedy. She knew exactly what she was doing when her mom answered that phone from the college. She purposely beat her to death.
Her father is a nice person, but he did nothing as a Dad to help his poor wife to take responsibility together with Sydney. He wanted to be only the NICE parent and this is why a Mom/his wife got killed 😮 If my grand daughter would have killed my beloved daughter, I could not live with her together - I would want justice for my killed daughter!!!
If this expert has been to court so many times it seems like he would be able to express himself and talk more professionally. What did Sydney major in ? With her mom's background she probably had access to reference books explaining schizophrenic acts etc. I would be catatonic if I thought I was going to prison for life. I don't buy it. I certainly don't have faith in this man's assessment.
My tht exactly....if he's a professional...and has so much experience I'd expect him to express himself much better rather than filling each of his sentences with uh or um
Are you kidding me? She was experiencing the realities of a first year college student. she didn't understand she wasn't in high school anymore. She couldn't bs her way around her studies like she could in high school. She actually had to be responsible for her study time, but instead of doing that, she was parting with her friends and not holding herself accountable to her studies. A lot of students go through this. It's not a sign of mental illness, it's a sign that she's undisciplined. The reason why mom got hit with the Pan and not Dad is because Mom was the disciplinarian and was holding her accountable, while dad just sat on his hands like a chump. Maybe if he helped his wife discipline, his daughter, his wife would be alive right now.
I feel, Sydney Powell should be under HER father's roof AND YOUNGER BROTHER with Grandmother on the farm. That way the father has to "finally" keep checking on her to see if she stayed inside the house! Check to see IF she took her meds (counting the pills in the bottles)! Cooking her meals and GIVING her those meds! Check on her numerous times a day and CALL the doctor's offices to SEE that she went to the therapists/psychologist and etc. ! But? How long would that last BEFORE the father TELLS GRANDMOTHER TO DEAL WITH HER? ? ? ? ?

I hope the jury can see through all the bs too. Poor Brenda was brutally murdered by her daughter. Sydney knew right from wrong. I don't guy this whole mental health excuse.
Your all right. A spoiled brat. I wonder what her mother's reaction was. Did she get mad? I just don't understand her doing this if her mother said they would work it out.
💯. It isnt insanity. She is dangerous and without humanity. It would be so dangerous for all of society if she's not kept in a cell for the rest of her life.
I disagree. I think she IS mentally ill. Not insane though. You would have to be mentally ill to kill someone. Even killing a stranger for no reason you would have to be mentally ill. But your mom? Wowza. But yeah, she is sick in the head, but she knew what she was doing, therefore NOT insane.
@justbystander770 what case is that? You talking about the girl who purposefully allegedly threw lye on her dad? I actually don't think she did that on purpose. I think the judge got it right.
It is astonishing how unprofessional this psychologist is! Setting aside his annoyingly poor communication skills, his reasoning is that of a most naive layman: "She did something SO-O-O crazy, therefore she must be crazy." Some expert!
I worked in inpatient psychiatry for several years and learned there are a lot of incredible psychiatrists and psychologists, but there's also some need treatment much more than their patients. And I wouldn't trust a mental health professional hired by a defense attorney. They'll do anything for those big bucks.
@@texasrefugee7888I once heard a psychologist joke about how therapists and psychologists end up adopting their patients' illnesses and I can see why they said that lol
Psychologist Describes Sydney Powell: ‘One of the Most Severe Cases’ He has seen in 40 years…. I have worked in mental health for over 30 years and if this is the most severe case of psychosis he has seen, it is because he has only observed very few cases. It's even ridiculous to say that...
Yeeeaaahhh. I have to agree with you there. That statement shocked me. If Sydney’s the worst case he’s seen, then he’d have a field day learning about what happen to one of my relatives. Then again, his was probably one of the worst cases some people have seen, too.
The way he’s describing schizophrenia makes me think it’s the highest level of anxiety. She couldn’t handle being an adult and having responsibilities….
Stress triggers psychosis in people who are prone to it. He’s not saying she killed her mom because she was having a panic attack. He’s saying that being overly anxious exacerbated her delusional disorder.

I would not want this monster within spitting distance of me or any of my loved ones - ever! No matter the outcome of this trial, it is blindingly evident this girl has dad wrapped around her little finger. Mum out of the way? Voila! She has simply come down with terminal laziness
Are we going to see the cross examination of this witness? There is plenty of opportunity for the prosecution to challenge his opinions and conclusions.
Not saying it couldn’t happen but in my first year Calculus class, 80% dropped out after the first test. They were straight A students at their schools. I had my first C in first year. I failed a class for the first time in my life in the first year. Half of my resident hall dropped out of the programs they enrolled in because, shocker to us all, university is hard! Doing well in high school meant nothing in first year of college because we were all the “smart ones” from our high schools. NONE OF US “DISASSOCIATE” to the point where we bash our mothers heads in and yes, I had a friend who pretended to go to school for a whole year after failing out first semester. I hope they have better defense than this. Unless none of the jurors went to college, they should recognize that these are not “psychotic episodes”. She experienced major embarrassment and killed the person whom she most felt shameful toward (and that’s my Psychology 101 course talking lol).
I agree! In the Olden Days, back in the 1970's; it was the "SAME WAY"! The kids who wanted to go on to Higher Education TALKED to the Guidance Counselor, who told them how to get their education in the field(s) they wanted by going to cheaper "S C H O O L S", where they could get their Education in 2 years instead of 4 and where to take a course or 2 at ________ or __________! How much it would cost and everything. It was called "pay" for your education as you go. Takes longer, you WILL GET THERE :)
As you say, many college students go through similar difficulties in college, yet you say “none of us disassociate “to the point she did - exactly. Those who do not are normal. Those who do have something seriously wrong with them. So why is it impossible for you to think it’s a mental disorder, schizophrenia, or psychotic episode?
Im son was diagnosed with Schizo effective disorder. Meaning he suffers from schizophrenia plus other disorders. His are clinical depression and social anxiety. You're not turning this illness off and on. Until you get the right combination of medication to combat this very sad condition its Is excruciating to watch. She should be ashamed for using what so many people suffer from as a excuse. Despicable
She's worse imo. The other case, her dad was an alcoholic, there were probably experiences she had because of that and she actually appeared remorseful at trial, just imo anyway but this monster has zero remorse and insists on being tret like a baby
sydney is worse. sydney continually lied and actually beat her caring mother to death. the other case the teenager might not have known how serious the cleaning agent would be and the dad was somewhat abusive…. sydney comes from a caring household and just didn’t want to be held accountable for failing college.
People with Sever mental illness respond in different ways- but I truly believe she's faking it. In her fear of mother's reaction she choose to attack. Just my thinking. She was "sane" in the respect of planning how to cover up her lies. Just my thinking.
i agree, no-one ever has auditory hallucinations it seems telling them to go check if someone is ok or go help someone, its always go and KILL someone.
It will be such a relief when the “ guilty verdict “ is read and she’s immediately remanded. Imagine the scene that unfolds once she hears the “ guilty words “?……… We will see mayhem I predict
Amazing, no fake tears now it is not the prosecution, just doodling. I have never known of a defendant with mental health conditions allowed to go in and out of the courtroom at will. Perhaps someone can explain why this is?
What I read was that There were many pre trial hearings that despite being heavily medicated certain aspects would likely lead to decompensation and re start psychosis. I believe the judge made the final determination but I hasn’t read of prosecution agreed as well or not.
It's so bizarre that they're attempting a mental health defense. 🤦🤦 She wasn't handling her emotions appropriately. She clearly needed some better coping strategies. Regardless she's guilty of murder and has to do the time for the horrific crime. Murder will not help one to avoid having to face hard truths and murder definitely causes your family more sadness and disappointment than bad grades ever will.
There’s a reason why the mental health defense exists. Some people cannot be held responsible for their actions because of being mentally insane. What the expert says makes a lot of sense
The job of court system isn't to feel sorry for her, but justice for all. The US has a poor mental health system. Its sad how those testifying of her mental status will use their position to gain unjustly. Leniency? No. Yes Justice & mercy. I see a lot of inpartialiality starting from the judge on down. I believe in justice for all. None is above the law including those of high economic status. People see how u respond in the courtroom Pacific ing her. Is this your character for all? Or do you exhibit this character for some. We see and compare within our court system. You had a mentally ill person on death row& executed a mentally retarded women. This is our court system. I believe in equality. You don't do for one, and not the other. We are watching you & expecting you to give justice& no partiality. Ain't nobody to good to good to be penalize. Were not stupid.
She had shame, anxiety, and she didn't want to ANSWER to her mother! It's not that she was afraid her mother would find out -- she knew that she would have to talk, explain herself, and be held accountable for her actions, and she was totally unwilling to do it! So far, I've heard NOTHING that isn't completely normal for teenagers under a lot of stress. Feeling unworthy, deep anxiety, feeling like she's not good enough, a failure... C'mon! Other teens who screw up badly don't murder their parents in a rage. They go home, take their lumps and develop some humility. I wish they would get real about this girl's relationship with her Mom. The Mom seems like she was more upfront and direct, and willing to confront her daughter. Initially the reports said the two were arguing, and that seems much more likely to me. But then she took it to this unbelievable level, because she can't face the reality of her actions at school. I truly hope that she finally does have to face what she's done here.
And if she had a rational mind, as you seem to think, she would realize that killing her mother would be a stupid mistake, and she’d get in serious trouble.
If this Dr feels Sydney was schizophrenic and had delusions, why was she coherent enough to lie to her father and law enforcement? She was also trying to keep her expulsions from her mother. And she would do anything and did by killing her. I'm sorry but, I'm not buying it.
I don’t know about her guilt or innocence, but psychotic patients do & often can lie. Not always, but it’s not impossible. If you believe your delusions & have a break from reality- you can still lie due to paranoia and your convictions. I think many assume that psychotic means “appearing totally deranged/crazy,” but that’s not always the case.
this guy needs help, since he can't seem to say more than four or five words without an ummm ahhhh in between. Sometimes just a couple of words. I suppose when you are a shrink and charge by the hour it lets you drag out the hour. I pity his patients waiting through all those ummm, ahhhhh, uhnnnnnn while he gets the words out.
Physicians should start getting penalized for lying for defenses in the stand. That would put a slow-down on these monsters using this fake defense. It hurts people with REAL mental illness.
Sad to say and think but she’s a danger to society! More to the people around her /family;; If she diagnosed with Schizophrenia ,people around her will be always in danger, she may wake up on a middle of the night and kill someone else too!! It really sucks for people with schizophrenia who are not murderers I just find it suspicious that this is now a retrograde diagnosis to get out of a murder charge If she is found NG by reason of insanity The family will push for not going to a forensic hospital 🏥 but back to grannies farm
At face value, her behaviors do not meet the criteria of schizophrenia in the DSM5, the scientific manual he should be using. But he’s MAKING it fit. A decline in an academic environment is a criterion for most disorders in the DSM5, it is NOT a specific indicator of schizophrenia. 🤷🏽♀️
But Doctor if Sydney thought she fixed it and was living in that reality, then why did she tell her father she didn’t have her stuff together when all her friends did?
Many people do not understand the mindset of a person with schizophrenia. It is one of the worst condition a person can suffer with. I have personal experience with my mother and her horrible suffering with this condition. The medical field in its infancy with understanding this diagnosis. My mother was not dangerous or violent, but she was fearful, saw and heard things that did not exist. It is a real hell on earth.
Who hasn't seen a situation in which a child who lied to his mother started kicking or hitting her, when the mother was about to realize his lie? For me Sydney is not schizophrenic, she just remained a child, that happens to overprotected children. But I could be wrong, after all I'm not a psychologist...
It looks like her Daddy was a Disneyland dad that let her get away with anything. And let Mommy be the bad guy, that set limits. I think daddy might feel guilty he created this situation. He only called her college for financial information.

Yikes you have a point there. Though he surely is destroyed and didn’t plan on his daughter murdering his wife… they both likely coddled her, made excuses and didn’t give boundaries. This girl doesn’t tolerate disappointment.
I tried so hard to listen to this man, but the number of times he said, "Um... Um.... Uh.... Um...." I couldn't get past 5 minutes.... If I was a juror, I would have lost my mind.... At his age and as a psychologist, he should have worked through that issue long ago....
It’s called no coping skills, that doesn’t make murder ok. She was so perfect, her feelings were hurt when she got kicked out & parents couldn’t fix it. Giving her the schizophrenia diagnosis is insulting to people who truly suffer mental illness.
If she was so sucicidal why didn't she go that route instead of this vile action? I dont think for one minute she was suicidal. She was entitled. She was committed to her manipulations. She was in a dumbass dumpsterfire of her lies. She lacked the humility and accountability to accept her short comings and mistakes. And god help every person defending her on the stand if she gets out on this bogus insanity charge. Because the blood of every victim after is on their souls too.

@@gewurztramina - Well people who diagnosed with schizophrenia don’t normally kill their patients, don’t pretend on the phone after killing their mothers that they are their mothers, and especially don’t lie to the police claiming someone broke in and killed their mothers, because they didn’t have the time to clean up. Maybe she didn’t planned to kill her, but probably something that her mother might have said unknowingly made her daughter enraged and when she got caught she lost it, couldn’t believe what she has done and the shame it brings.
@@snsn7251 - Exactly. Especially because he is independent and will take any case that he thinks he can convince the jury with agreeing with the hospital report. She stayed at the university because she didn't want to go home for her parents to find out that she was no longer there. What about if all students after being kicked out go and kill their parents. What she has done was the same as what others have done and they end up getting life sentences for murdering someone. She is no different. If she could lie after murdering her mum, staging things like it was an intruder who did it...then she knew exactly what she had done. LIFE FOR LIFE and JUSTICE FOR HER POOR MOTHER 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

Omg, Dr. Obvious is insulting the jury. He’s trying to put schizophrenia label on a girl who is experiencing what 80% kids experience when transitioning from high school to college & finds out there are people smarter & more athletic than her in the world. Failure & disappointment is where growth occurs, teaches humility and helps prevent narcissism.
Given these so call Psychologists won't stand up to the transgender insanity that is happening now, are we to believe what he is saying now about her being out of touch with reality. It seems lots of people are out of touch with reality, but they don't kill their mothers. Making excuses for this killer, saddens me, Sydney is just plain evil.
I just want to say that schizophrenia is a very complex disease and is very subtle before psychosis starts. I'm not saying that is what's happening here or not. I'm just saying it is possible. I think most people think they know what schizophrenia looks like but really have no idea of the scope of the symptoms and the abilities of the people who suffer with this have in masking those symptoms. As someone who has personal connections with someone with schizophrenia and several people with bipolar depression, my opinion is that it is definitely possible that Sydney is mentally ill. I know that is a.very unpopular opinion here. My heart goes out to the family regardless.
I agree. Everything we’ve been told is she was a great student ect.. great relationship with family. Then all her grades drop, for no explained reason. She is at the age when this illness appears. Sad sad sad.
How disheartening that a mental professional cannot see through a calculating deviant... no wonder why we have a huge epidemic of mentally ill people who get no help. When a professional cannot get it right.... ridiculous. No respect for this doctor.
Her behaviors leading up to the murder suggest she is no schizophrenic, that's ridiculous. The family standing behind her is a slap in the face to her murdered mother, the one who called her out. She attacked her while she was on the phone about to learn she was on academic probation. Her father knew, told her they would work it out, so why kill her mother. A man is supposed to lead, but they often leave it to the wives. Sidney lying at the level she was should have been addressed by both parents, but he left his wife to deal with Little Ms. Perfect, who had been lying to everyone, and it finally came to a head, culminating into murder that wouldn't have happened had he been there and now he's standing by her? What s betrayal to his poor wife. Sidney wasn't insane when she lied to the dean and her father. She's going to prison.
How is it that someone that apparently blacked out and now diagnosed with schizophrenia supposedly unaware of murdering her mother still managed to think of going outside to break the window in order to set the stage of a break and enter murder scenario, that she conveniently claimed took place, to the officers and family members?

She was in a full blown rage - not psychosis
She answered the call from the school, tried so sound like her mother, and hung up when she was found out! That seems like a very calculated and clear minded decision!
It is. She knew exactly what she was doing. She murdered her then tried to blame it on someone else. The only thing left was for her to say it was a black man!!!
This exactly was my conclusion as to why the insanity plea does not work here. I'm surprised your comment was the first one I saw lol. It could be argued, though, that her decision to end mom's life was a heat-of-passion thing that wouldve been very unlike Sydney's otherwise normal day-to-day behavior
As I watch the rebuttal witness right now…Sydney’s jig is up!!(and she knows it!)
She fine. ..... Not crazy; she's a bad bad bad bad girl. ....we've all been pissed off at our mothers sometimes, but, we don't bludgeon them and then stab their throats....OFF the JAIL with her.
No Psychosis
Her mom asked 'why do I feel like you are always scamming me?' Reply, 'my grades are fine, thank you!' This is not schizophrenia. It's a liar. And her mom knew it. She just couldn't pull it off for as long as Chandler Halderson or Jennifer Pan could.

I couldn't agree more! She is spoiled and evil. She beat her mother to death to prevent her from finding out about her suspension. She is manipulative and cunning, mentally ill absolutely not! She knew what she was doing and tried to blame it on an intruder!
In her so-called psychotic state after murdering her mother, she has the wherewithal to say there was a break in 🙄🙄🙄 that’s not a mental state… that’s planning 🤦♀️

all these kind of defendants exist in one form or another because of the kind of family who bring them up. theres no empathy ever it seems for the victim only the living person involved in the crime.

Stress triggers psychosis in people who are prone to it. He’s not saying she killed her mom because she was having a panic attack. He’s saying that being overly anxious exacerbated her delusional disorder.
Hey! Stupid my mother had such high anxiety she would never drive. .

I always suspect an independent psychologist who works for the defense for extra money.
Smells like BS to me 💩
I have had friends that suffer from schizophrenia.... she certainly is NOT severe if at all.. she is guilty by reason of selfish little girl syndrome....
Same here! I have a close cousin of mine who developed schizophrenia in his early 20’s and I can’t think of a time when he hurt someone and try to cover it up such as Sydney did.
Whatever diagnosis , she knows what she did, after killing her mom she still lied to her dad over the phone, to the college staff that returned the call, and LE when they arrived. If they are going to claim that her mental health is bad to the point that she somehow blacked out or was unaware or in a state of mind where she had no control of herself and what she was doing...
THEN ONE THING I WANT TO ASK THE COLLEGE STAFF, SPECIFICALLY THE MALE THAT HAD THE PHONE AND RETURNED THE CALL TO MS BRENDA (GOD REST HER SOUL).. WHEN SYDNEY ANSWERED THAT CALL AND PRETENDED THAT IT WAS HER MOM WHO WAS ON THE LINE, " WHAT WAS HER TONE OF VOICE WHEN SHE SAID "IT'S ME BRENDA"..?" CALM, LOUD AND UNCONTROLLABLE, CRYING?... IF SHE TRIED TO ACT NORMAL WHEN SHE ANSWERED, THEN SHE KNOWS EXACTLY WHAT SHE WAS DOING AND IS AWARE... DNT TRY TO SAY JUST HER MENTAL STATE BEING SEVERE DURING THE ATTACK AND THEN GOIN AWAY.... BS

Are we going to see the cross examination of this witness? There is plenty of opportunity for the prosecution to challenge his opinions and conclusions.
That’s what I was waiting to see :(
@@Christy-. For sure Christy... If the prosecution is prepared and did some research...they can really minimize the impact of this "expert."
I agree with you 100%. In some courses where I live, in first year Uni, less than 90% of students complete the course
I agree! In the Olden Days, back in the 1970's; it was the "SAME WAY"! The kids who wanted to go on to Higher Education TALKED to the Guidance Counselor, who told them how to get their education in the field(s) they wanted by going to cheaper "S C H O O L S", where they could get their Education in 2 years instead of 4 and where to take a course or 2 at ________ or
__________! How much it would cost and everything. It was called "pay" for your education as you go. Takes longer, you WILL GET THERE :)
So you have a PhD in Psychiatry or actual experience treating patients with mental disorders?
As you say, many college students go through similar difficulties in college, yet you say “none of us disassociate “to the point she did - exactly. Those who do not are normal. Those who do have something seriously wrong with them. So why is it impossible for you to think it’s a mental disorder, schizophrenia, or psychotic episode?
Even if she doesn’t have schizophrenia, that was some kind of rage to hurt her mother like that to the point where she died, that is not normal!
Despicable
Sydney reminds me of the entitled teenager who threw drain cleaner on her father when she didn’t get her way.
I actually clicked the video a little confused because I thought it was her even though her case has been heard.
She's worse imo. The other case, her dad was an alcoholic, there were probably experiences she had because of that and she actually appeared remorseful at trial, just imo anyway but this monster has zero remorse and insists on being tret like a baby
@@amyelizabeth135 how do you know her remorse ? you dont
sydney is worse. sydney continually lied and actually beat her caring mother to death. the other case the teenager might not have known how serious the cleaning agent would be and the dad was somewhat abusive…. sydney comes from a caring household and just didn’t want to be held accountable for failing college.

@joan-lisa-smith✔️
Bravo for the ONE shrink to say she doesn't have Schizophrenia!
Could it be she was spoiled and expected everybody and everything should go her way, maybe not a great student or smart enough to succeed
That doctor with his aaaaammmm..aaammmm..is too much for me..

Sad to say and think but she’s a danger to society! More to the people around her /family;; If she diagnosed with Schizophrenia ,people around her will be always in danger, she may wake up on a middle of the night and kill someone else too!! Agreed Shes NOT NORMAL,But I don’t think she’s Schizophrenic,,,Obviously you feel bad about her in such a Yonge age ;we never know what she have been through, only she knows ,,,I feel bad for her family/father /grandmother is very very hard for them,,she still their baby ; And parents never give up in their children (even if they deserve to be panished ) they make mistakes,parents/family wants to be there for them .Sad Story will Hunt her all her life 😢
It really sucks for people with schizophrenia who are not murderers
I just find it suspicious that this is now a retrograde diagnosis to get out of a murder charge
If she is found NG by reason of insanity
The family will push for not going to a forensic hospital 🏥 but back to grannies farm

How can a psychologist say that feeling worthless and being a failure is a hallucination. I haven’t heard so much nonsense for a while.

What about if all students after being kicked out go and kill their parents. What she has done was the same as what others have done and they end up getting life sentences for murdering someone. She is no different.

Yes. Hopefully they get a decent Christmas bonus.
I totally agree. She diffently had some type of breakdown.
How disheartening that a mental professional cannot see through a calculating deviant... no wonder why we have a huge epidemic of mentally ill people who get no help. When a professional cannot get it right.... ridiculous. No respect for this doctor.
The magnitude of the injuries is the result of a lack of empathy and level of pleasure derived from the power and pain she was inflicting.
Ok I agree with everything you said except the man is “supposed to lead.” This is not the 1940s.
How is it that someone that apparently blacked out and now diagnosed with schizophrenia supposedly unaware of murdering her mother still managed to think of going outside to break the window in order to set the stage of a break and enter murder scenario, that she conveniently claimed took place, to the officers and family members?
Consider Maya Angelou's wise advice: When someone tells you who they are, believe them the first time.
Such a long winded witness. Must like to hear his own voice. I think he lost some or all of the jury a long time ago.
