      Oh yeah what an instant and brilliant plan! Come on. She said someone else did it. That’s a gut reaction, not a premeditated plot to get away with murder. If she’s in the midst of psychosis, she doesn’t automatically forget how the world works. She knows she killed her mom and she knows the cops will take her to jail if they know it was her. So she says it was an intruder. That hardly required a ton of rational thought.

    It just seems odd to me that she has her schizo break at the exact moment her mother is discovering her lies. Timing is convenient. Not saying she isn’t mentally ill, but might be closer to psychopathy rather than schizophrenia. I’ve had schizophrenic students in my career, just doesn’t seem like the stories they told me of there breaks. She lived the lie, found herself shelter, gamed the university as long as she could, doesn’t sound like anything other than a student who really screwed up. Why she screwed up would be worth knowing. Doesn’t sound like she was partying. Glad I’m not on the jury but all my doubt is about her being insane. Too many actions that aren’t in line with being disconnected from reality.

    • @terryellis7692
      @terryellis7692 7 месяцев назад +15

      Exactly. She wasn't partying. Her diagnosis would of most certainly lead to the grades dropping so low and her feeling that she needed to hide that she was thrown out of school. And the downward spiral was so fast. I truly believe in her diagnosis. I don't look at her nails or hair and judge. Everyone is different. Even going to school and seeming to believe she was still a student. There's so much that make her look like she lost touch with reality. I actually believe the insanity defense with this one. She isn't anything like Leticia Stauch. I don't thing she was melingering. I don't think she was lying.... I think she believed her version of reality. She was hearing things. I will not be shocked if she is sent to a hospital instead. And doesn't anyone think.... she is going to get treatment and they won't set her free until she is better. Then she will go on and wake-up to her actual reality. She killed her mom. She has to live with that once she is treated and healed. IF that even happens. I don't feel I'm an expert by no means but her insanity defense has me convinced based on the facts. How she acted. Her history in school. I hope she gets help. 🙏

And when I finally talked to my psychiatrist, I couldn't parse out what was factual vs what might not be real vs what might just be religious beliefs. She couldn't bs her way around her studies like she could in high school. She actually had to be responsible for her study time, but instead of doing that, she was parting with her friends and not holding herself accountable to her studies. A lot of students go through this. It's not a sign of mental illness, it's a sign that she's undisciplined. The reason why mom got hit with the Pan and not Dad is because Mom was the disciplinarian and was holding her accountable, while dad just sat on his hands like a chump. Maybe if he helped his wife discipline, his daughter, his wife would be alive right now.

    Not saying it couldn’t happen but in my first year Calculus class, 80% dropped out after the first test. They were straight A students at their schools. I had my first C in first year. I failed a class for the first time in my life in the first year. Half of my resident hall dropped out of the programs they enrolled in because, shocker to us all, university is hard! Doing well in high school meant nothing in first year of college because we were all the “smart ones” from our high schools. NONE OF US “DISASSOCIATE” to the point where we bash our mothers heads in and yes, I had a friend who pretended to go to school for a whole year after failing out first semester. I hope they have better defense than this. Unless none of the jurors went to college, they should recognize that these are not “psychotic episodes”. She experienced major embarrassment and killed the person whom she most felt shameful toward (and that’s my Psychology 101 course talking lol).

    Her behaviors leading up to the murder suggest she is no schizophrenic, that's ridiculous. The family standing behind her is a slap in the face to her murdered mother, the one who called her out. She attacked her while she was on the phone about to learn she was on academic probation. Her father knew, told her they would work it out, so why kill her mother. A man is supposed to lead, but they often leave it to the wives. Sidney lying at the level she was should have been addressed by both parents, but he left his wife to deal with Little Ms. Perfect, who had been lying to everyone, and it finally came to a head, culminating into murder that wouldn't have happened had he been there and now he's standing by her? What s betrayal to his poor wife. Sidney wasn't insane when she lied to the dean and her father. She's going to prison.

    She had shame, anxiety, and she didn't want to ANSWER to her mother! It's not that she was afraid her mother would find out -- she knew that she would have to talk, explain herself, and be held accountable for her actions, and she was totally unwilling to do it! So far, I've heard NOTHING that isn't completely normal for teenagers under a lot of stress. Feeling unworthy, deep anxiety, feeling like she's not good enough, a failure... C'mon! Other teens who screw up badly don't murder their parents in a rage. They go home, take their lumps and develop some humility. I wish they would get real about this girl's relationship with her Mom. The Mom seems like she was more upfront and direct, and willing to confront her daughter. Initially the reports said the two were arguing, and that seems much more likely to me. But then she took it to this unbelievable level, because she can't face the reality of her actions at school. I truly hope that she finally does have to face what she's done here.

She lied and when caught in the lie pulled a Chandler Halderson. Nothing this psychiatrist described as precursors to her break stands out. In fact it's very common to have anxiety, test anxiety, negative self talk, and be overly critical, especially if you are a perfectionist used to succeeding. Feeling like a failure after failing out of school and it not being "compatible with how you saw yourself" is how everyone in that situations feels. Hanging out at the dorms after and all that nonsense was her trying to save face and avoid having to tell her parents. She was fully aware of reality, she just didn't like her reality and she lashed out when confronted with it. Her's hoping the jury sees through this bs.

      We can’t know how she’s feeling! She is living in a very difficult complicated and newly developed state of schizophrenia. My goodness people.

    He’s assuming more than he actually knows about her. He’s a trial psych, that’s how he gets paid. I hope the jury sees through this guy

      It’s treatable. You can live a normal life with schizophrenia. There are definitely worse punishments

      @@FizzleFrazleHaving your schizophrenia end up in probably the worst outcome possible is definitely a lifelong hell. A very similar thing happened to one of my family members. Tragic is an understatement.

    It’s called no coping skills, that doesn’t make murder ok. She was so perfect, her feelings were hurt when she got kicked out & parents couldn’t fix it. Giving her the schizophrenia diagnosis is insulting to people who truly suffer mental illness.
