I used to go and see them at the Brighton Centre regularly in the late 70's. In 1984 I was visiting a friend in Bath. We were waiting at a crossing and a white van was there at the lights. Little curtains partially drawn against the windows. I recognised the Stranglers inside the van.. Jumping for joy I called and waved, to them, shaking Nicola, yelling, "Look it's the Stranglers!!". They looked like delighted school boys, waving back, pleased to have been recognised by 2 rather fetching young ladies! It lasted a moment, but had a real sweetness to it. Thanks lads for some great music and memories.

Reason, it's always heartening to hear a new generation expressing appreciation for music that was popular before their time. I relied heavily on my nephew, when he was going through his teen years, to supply me with bands he listened to, and it helped me find great groups like Spoon, Leo and the Pharmacists, and Cake. Probably never would have stumbled on them on my own...
