Yes, spot on. I had a friend who was a busker and called Joe who played this beautifully and has now gone back to his country of origin - Portugal. I wish I had a photo of him. I gave him money and cried at the beauty of his guitar playing. He was so amazing. I did at least tell him that he was fantastic and that he. had made me happy for two years

I saw the Stranglers in The Red Lion on Putney High St in 1976 when they played "Dagenam Dave" for the first time. Who would have 'thunk' so many years later that they would become so much a part of my "old man" (I'm now 60) life. What a great song. I love the opening lines. I was for many years a bass player in a rock n roll band; much influenced by the 'growling;' sounds of jj.

A childhood friend of mine had this played at his funeral, as the "Retiral Music" as we left the church. I had never heard it before and found it hauntingly beautiful. God Bless a truly descent, humble and happy guy.
