I think my biggest mistake is believing that because I'm not an artist, I can't make pretty spreads. I have had more fun playing with stickers and pictures printed from the internet than I ever had trying to draw my spreads! I keep reminding myself that it doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to be perfect for me!
Heck yeah 👏 when people avoid bullet journaling because they say they’re not artistic, my heart legit breaks 💔
My biggest mistake is "fixing" what isn't broken. I know I have a setup that works for me, but I get bored and try to "fix" it, which results in me not using my bujo or losing overview.
The Dutch door hack!!! Omg you're a genius!!!
Haha thanks! It also works well for when you want/need to fully remove a page too 💪
Love the idea around copying a layout to test your colors first!
Can save a lot of heartache! 😝
GREAT tip on gluing down the wee bit of paper close to the spine on the Dutch doors...thanks!!
I love this, sometimes I'm struck by analysis paralysis lol. It's so important to acknowledge that mistakes can happen though and not to beat yourself up over it by trying to achieve perfection! At the end of the day, our bujos are for a functional purpose!
Your drawing is awesome, I actually had to pause at the Ripley one to check it out! That whole spread is such a cool composition
Thanks! They were recreations of line work I found online (genuinely can’t remember from where sadly) but the alien itself was from a tattoo design 😄💜
I’ve followed your channel for awhile now and enjoy your videos. This video, however, was one of your most helpful ones. Thank you for the great info!
As a beginner, I made sure to add in a page titled “Ideas/Wants for Next BUJO”. This is something I think more beginners should include because it keeps in mind that their current journal is a building block, not the end.
Glad this one in particular was a stand out 😄💜 the “my next journal page” is for sure a staple for me 👏
Or being me and spelling April "Arpil" because I was too focused on making my April page look nice... andddd I even penciled it in first and didn't catch the error when inking it in. (I try to do my pages a few months in advance because I noticed I get busy and forget to do it then I scramble to throw together a month and it looks like crap)
And then the ink you used bleeds through 17 layers of everything white you use to try to cover it up... been there, done that 😢
@@bombus1340 I just left it so I didn't have the bleed through.. I've found sometimes it looks worse after trying to fix it and I liked the way it looks.. I spent a long time drawing everything out so it's stay ARPIL lmao
@@kategrossi8717 it could be the Arpil's fools of this year.
@@EnabiSeira haha this is GENIUS!
@@kategrossi8717 If you can't fix a mistake, pretend it's on purpose, just like @Enabi Seira said 😃 It's very wise to not mess with it when you like the way it looks. I still need to learn that^^ As I just made February "EEBRUARY" so there's that 🥲
Recently made a mistake for my first week spread in February. White out tape is my best friend
I have a no rulers rule in my journals to help me get past perfectionism but one thing I find super helps with both not over-extending or smudging is to mark out the squares outside the ones I'm going to actually draw my lines on; so if I have a grid of boxes I'll do lines all the way across the page in pencil in the 'gutters' of the grid so it is easy to see. Or I will do little arrows in the boxes either side of a heading. That way I don't have to rub the actual ink on the page too much.
Nice solution! 💪👏
Oh man, taping that section in the middle blew my mind! 🤯
What I hate the most about mine is I start fresh and spend lots of time and loving my bujo but I don’t use it because I don’t have a busy month or I’m so busy that I don’t have time to open my book but use sticky notes as reminders
Yeah the not-using-your-journal-when-busy is a habit I’m trying to break this year 😝💜
Awesome advice. Thank you
Most welcome! 😄💜
This is very helpful ^^ thank you
Most welcome! 😄💜
That mistake 6 fixup is a game changer. Thank you for that tip 😁😁
Most welcome! 😄💜
I think I hadn’t used my journal this year because I messed up the yearly page. Yesterday I sorted it out….. did it again. Itsa lot better now.
Glad it was fixable 💪
My two biggest mistakes are not knowing what colors to use (or spending too much time deciding) and not paying attention when I'm inking so I overextend lines.
I feel you 👏 thankfully the majority of the times when I over extend the lines, it’s to a small enough extent that I can just go over it with white gel pen 😝 sometimes not though 😅
I'm not an artist, the fanciest I get in mine is using mildliners to add colors to my set ups. And even I can look back at my first bullet journal and gosh, it is a damn mess. 😆 But it was the crawling before I walked!
One of my bigger mistakes is trying to get all of my layouts for the year done and then being overwhelmed and not getting them finished.
Another being trying to set up a full journal but calculating the pages wrong and running out of room
I might be able to help with the second one! I’ve got a free journal page calculator 😄 bit.ly/3NK2sbx
Great tips! For erasing, do you have a favorite type of eraser? Mine is smudgy.
I primarily use a Staedtler eraser, but I find that smudging also depends on the type of paper I’m using too (eg pens taking longer to dry on coated paper) 🤔
Which is your favorite black writing pen you use the most? There are so many, I get confused
Typically I prefer to use the Paper Mate Inkjoy Gel Pen, but all of mine have run out 😝 So I'm currently using the Pilot G2 and finding that nice to use 💜
I love the pilot G2. Amazon has a sale on paper mate. I will try them. Thank you 🌺
2:23 is it just me or does the wording remind anyone else of descendants?
Lol they were literally picked from the movie 💜😄
@@JashiiCorrin lol knew it im a hardcore descendants fan 😂😂
The smudge repetition was painful lmao
Haha thankfully I've had some years to get over it 😝 And by that I mean I ended up covering the whole page with scrapbooking paper, lol
