I feel so sorry for Michael Altman. I hope Markoff and Stephens met messy ends, themselves.

Odds are high that they were among the first few “passengers” of the massive cematary ships the Church built to house their dead. Sadly, they got exactly what they wanted: the Unitologists doing that was essentially them throwing treats at the Brethren Moons to keep them satisfied, so in the end, they were made _whole._

It really did. My thoughts exactly. ;(
Dead Space 4 could probably happen. The Dead Space IP belongs to EA now. I mean it's not impossible. Look what Bethesda did with Fallout. Also, the Mass Effect Trilogy was Remastered! Dead Space could be, too! I could be very wrong, of course. If I am, then I'm sorry Dx
Meanwhile, we do have the projects The Callisto Protocol and Negative Atmosphere on the way. They seem to be spiritual successors to the Dead Space franchise. I hope they succeed, and I wish the teams behind them nothing but good luck.
I also hope that Entertainment Apocalypse doesn't kill off another franchise ever again.

@@aevvah_flxwer8550 Well said, at this point it would be a blessing if EA doesn't get a hold of these new projects to be fair, I wish them the best of luck. Command & Conquer is unfortunately another example of EA ruining series, it's unbelievable.

Also thank you. Hey, DS4 isn't impossible. Just very unlikely. I think.
And we have two awesome-looking projects still in development rn. :D
I have hope for these two projects. ✊

Brilliant video.. I find it very interesting that the unitologists weren’t necessarily wrong about their belief.. they just misinterpreted the end goal, or rather thought that the convergence was merely “beyond their understand,” yet still a necessity in the evolution of mankind.. regardless of how inherently disastrous the outcome would be.. the whole “god works in mysterious ways,” type ordeal.. things don’t make sense to our limited human minds, but we must follow suit/ obey anyway.. ALSO.. this is a religion actually based off of something real.. tangible.. and effective.. like the marker.. compared to worshiping shrines, artifacts, and miscellaneous items that have no real power or ability.. the marker at the very least had power, and reason to be recognized.

      @angry_zergling 3 года назад +4

Meh, what you found interesting about the Unitologist (that despite the horror of what they caused they thought they were doing the right thing) is generally what almost every person who causes unimaginable atrocities believes if you think about it (which I'm sure you have actually =) - but I'll ramble anyway 'cause I like to ramble)
For what is killing a child now, costing them 70 years of life, when you gain them an eternity in paradise by saving them from ? Compare 70 years to a trillion years. Surely the 70 is meaningless. Then multiply the trillion by a trillion. Then that number by a trillion. And then know even that number is infinitesimally small when compared against eternity - so small it cannot be mathematically quantified. That 70 years becomes functionally and indeed factually...meaningless.
What is killing half of the population of wrong-thinkers today, if the results are the human race prospers in harmony and peace for the rest of time? What is murdering someone now if they will go to heaven, where if you didn't they would commit an irredeemable crime in the face of the Almighty and spend all eternity in a state of torment?
Unless you're absolutely, positively nuts with no trace of a 'soul' (whatever that may actually be I define it as 'any trace of sympathy or compassion for anything/anyone else outside of yourself in the slightest degree')...then you're not going to do things you think are 'bad' for the sake of doing 'bad'. You might do 'bad', sure, but you believe the 'bad' you're doing will be outweighed by the 'good' that will result. Everyone thinks they're doing the right thing. (Well, not everyone...but probably 80% of the nastiest people in history thought they were doing the right thing during the genocides that they ordered or the murders they personally carried out).
Of course all of the above is a delusion, but that is indeed what they believe. For a person to do something, they need to believe they are doing good. Not for minor things - plenty of people do stuff they know is bad every day. Abuse, drug use, rape, murder...things that hurt individuals on a small scale. But when it gets to a certain level beyond where they cause more than a few deaths, and it was intentional and calculated...they almost always believe it's for the greater good. And even then, not always, but...barring the rare individual who is insane and actually (as opposed to just saying) knows they are insane and feel (actual, as opposed to lying about it) grief over their actions and would stop if they could but are unable to...everyone else believes they're doing good: your mass-murderers, your despots, your terrorists, your religious fundamentalists, your political dictators, your genocidal leaders...they think everything they've done will balance out for good in the end.
All the suffering they caused in the present will result in a lesser sum of overall suffering in the future to a degree that that initial suffering was worth causing to save those who would come after...nay - it doesn't just balance out, no! It was a moral necessity. It was something ANYONE in their shoes with their knowledge and their capabilities with any trace of compassion would do by logical necessity! Those who would refuse to step up and do what they did are the true psychopaths, the true sociopaths, the people without the compassion they had - the people who were too cowardly and morally weak to do what needed to be done! Anyone with the intelligence and sympathy for their fellow man who had the knowledge they had would do the same!
Or, so they think. Hitlers, Stalins, Maos, leaders of religious or racial or political or national or ethnic genocide...people who bring down a plague of undeath by unleashing an alien totem, maybe...they all said/will say the same thing. "If you were in my place; if you knew what I knew, and if you had my righteous courage...you would do the same thing!"

I honestly never chould under how unitology is so popular in the dead space universe. Like everything I've seen about them is a bunch of unhinged cultists i think kyne was the only one who double backed once he saw what the marker was reallyall about. In dead space 2 it's pretty much hinted that the church encourages members to give all money and assets to it while offering nothing in return. And in the remake it's implied the church has rights over you're burial. Also it's clear members have no issue using there positions of power to further the churches goals see Benjamin Mathis Dr. Mercer etc.

The biggest argument to be a unitologist, is because of the hope that you will reunite with the loved ones you lost too soon, in the convergence. Unitology didnt make much sense to me either after playing the game, but back then, in 2009-2010, I found the first animation, and bought it on DVD. That was the first insight I got into it, and then later, I bought the book, and Altman's girlfriend sees her dead grandmother, and speaks to her, and she becomes a "unitologist", Altman himself starts seeing her near the end, but to him, this is just more of a reason why the whole thing needs to be stopped.

Main issue was it was retconned from DS1 to DS2 because the writers wrote them selves into a corner and couldn't make it work. So the whole unitologist / marker thing just got turned into some twisted rip off of the monoliths. They did alot more than create necromorphs, like the monolith they forced evolution creating a intelligent civilization.
