Ben this is one of the greatest video about DU! To see how you corrected the guys helping me much better than hundreds "5 quick tips" videos. Thank you!!
It's great to see a video showing scaling options with people that need it. There is nothing worse (and you see it all the time) someone showing you a progression for an exercise when they have already mastered it.
4 years been struggling with this, 4 freaking years, ugh! I have had coaches give a tip here and there, but never took much time to stop, watch, correct, and work with me on them. I know my arms start going wide, which I am working on, but never thought about getting a longer rope, I also think I tend to go 'too fast' and can work on slowing it down as well. I know I am close and need to be as one of my goals is to move up % in the men's masters RX 55+ in the open, and DUs is always there! This was a really good video as I am a visual learner and watching someone that already knows how to do them is not helpful vs someone who is learning and doing some of the same mistakes I do. This was great, thank you!
This was so helpful!! Watching videos of instruction on people that already know what they are doing isnt very helpful. I loved watching in real time you coach them on the same issues I am having. Thanks for this!!
I like the video's of WODprep. The good buildingup and explaining of the exercises. I am 63 years old and started in december 2022 with Crossfit in the Hague, Netherlands. I enjoy every minuten of it and got a lot of help of your video's. Thank you.
L9ved the video... Im only doing crossfit now for about 5 months.. But you saying that i need to slow it down made so much sense.. Thank you... Looking forward to my progress..
Great (&fun) video, you are really showing how the good coaching should be ie how the progression is really going and how to really practice. I really like your cool videos. Adam
This video was awesome!! I volunteer to be your next stranger...I am beyond frustrated with double-unders...and it's not for lack of trying or buying new ropes! My suckage at DU's absolutely kills my Open standing each time!
Great video 👍🏽 I tend to rush and tense up doing DUs and end up tripping on the rope after one. Going to try keeping the same rhythm throughout to keep the rope spinning.
Great video. It helps to see other people struggle with a movement that I have struggled with myself. I am still working on getting better but can now sting together around 60. The penguin jumps and remembering to jump high and slow my hands have been very helpful.
Great video! I learned from both sessions. That panicked frenzy is exactly me on the rare time I get two DUs in a row. The SU drill with the calm rope will totally be mine next workout. I also think the 4-6 SU and then 1 DU and repeat drill will get me accumulating DUs way faster than my current flailing! Great vid and perfect athletes to help me immensely!
This video was awesome! I am rather new to CF and double unders are tough for me. I can get one, but rarely more. I realize now that I tense up and go way to fast when it is time to switch from single to double (life the first guy you worked with). I cannot wait to grab my jumprope and put this into practice!
I really loved it, and felt okay tht it’s okey if I am not able to hit DU so soon , I learned to keep my rope slightly longer and will try same today if it helps , i have been practicing DU but it’s difficult to get even 5 in a row ..Thank you for tips
Great video and explanation. Makes it really clear with people who actually making the mistakes and learning. For me this methodical approach really opens up possibilities. Hope it is isn’t too late for Sunday for the Open😁
Best dub video I've found as I prep for 23.3 where dubs will most likely appear. My problem is definitely the rhythm and I'm going to practice that single double single pattern.
Great video mate. New for me was the soft knees and going back to single-single-double in workouts. Another thing that has helped me is going back to a heavier beginners rope despite doing CrossFit for more than 8 years. Thanks
Yesterday, after a several attempts doing this du, i finally got it and so happy! I can do the single/ double/ single so today i tried the 2 consecutive du and i got it too but only twice out of 100 jumps🤣 Thank you for posting this video cause i realized i need to master the s/du/s first, don’t know why I’m in a hurry🤣🤣 is there any additional tips to do consecutive du? Thanks again!!!🙏🏼❤️🙌
Great video! You mention the "extendable" rope and then a rope for a taller guy. What are your suggestions for a rope for a guy who's 6'5"? Good stuff...THANK YOU !!!!!!!
I was told that donkey kicks are _horrible_, which has gotten in the way of progress. Eye opening to hear “I would much rather you donkey kick than pike.” This should free me considerably psychologically. Thanks!
I have a member that struggles with having soft knees but in the opposite way. She jumps with her knees bent but not absorbing the jump. She’s strictly using her ankles to jump. Any advice?
Rythmn point really important, so wouldn't it be a good idea to pratice solitary double under in the middle of a single under to music? You could say to the guys, "hey this song I got sunshine is four beats to the bar and I want you to skip single to the first three beats but do the double under to the fourth beat". The successively they'd attempt to do double under on the second beat and then ultimately all the beats. An idea, perhaps?
I can do alternating double/singles but just can't seem to make the transition to 2 consecutive DU's :( I will try to incorporate the "donkey kick" to see if that helps. Thanks for the video!!!
My problem is that my left wrist ( I’m right hand dominant) is rotating much slower than my right and after couple of reps I lose the rotating motion. I’ve been focusing on slowing down my jump and my wrist rotation, which helped a little bit. Any advice for people with my problem? 😊
Try using a couple pens or something similar (like handles but without the rope) to practice so you can focus on the spinning without tripping. Hope it helps!
The rope shouldn't even touch the ground, the body should be straight (no bending forward), soft flexing of the knees (most of the power comes from the calves), and the momentum of the rope generated by the wrists using thumb and index mostly, (not the shoulders nor the elbows) is how I get them right.
Great video! It's nice to know that I'm not the only one who sucks at it! But I'm not very good with the single unders either!🤣🤣 You are a good coach, watching their form and correcting them in real time. It was nice to see them be able to start making progress! Thanks for the video and thank you for your "volunteers"! Lol
unpopular opinion here: beginners shouldn't use steel wire jump rope, its too fast & too light for them to get any feeback fr the rope. Use pvc rope(5mm) instead, it has a bit of weight to it for good feedback but yet u can go fast with it too to attempt ur DUs

So glad you like it!!! Will make more like this for other movements and skills.

Loved this !! I will be trying it. I have been doing CrossFit for 2 years have lost 40 lbs I’ve gotten off all medications. I’m 66. Life is good!
That's so awesome, really well done! Would love to hear how you get on. And make sure to download my free DU guide (link in description)
L9ved the video... Im only doing crossfit now for about 5 months.. But you saying that i need to slow it down made so much sense.. Thank you... Looking forward to my progress..
Awesome coaching! We have DU in the Metcon tomorrow and I’m going to take your suggestions to the mat! Thank you!!!
I really loved this, am also struggling with DU during WODs because I really rush through it 🙈
It's tough to slow down your jump while keeping your rope spinning quickly! But 100% worth the effort now you know what the issue is!
The soft knees was an eye opener for me, thanks!
Glad it was helpful, that's a common one!
Ben, great video with pointers that I can apply in future WODs. My ability is in-line with TJ and will work on soft knees.
Great (&fun) video, you are really showing how the good coaching should be ie how the progression is really going and how to really practice. I really like your cool videos. Adam

what an excellente coach. he gets on point of each individual deficit.
This was an eye opener. Hoping some of these tips could help me out. Staying on beat is something I haven’t heard, definitely will keep that in mind!
This was very helpful. Been doing CF almost 10 years now and haven't mastered them
I'm from Colombia and your video was great and so helpful. thank u so much.
Love this vid on DU. Hit the nail on the head. I’ve been working on them but dreading the open announcements 😂
Thanks for the tips, very valuable!
Awesome Tutorial! Slowing the rope was a key tip thanks!

You're welcome, thanks for the feedback!

Reppin the Crossfit Cheyenne merch! Great video. I have some work to do.
You got this!
Great video and gives me a bit more confidence as i donkey kick, hopefully will be able to transition to the correct jump soon!
Love these. More relatable to what I need to fix.
Nice Videos, this helps to get the DU going

“Great coaching too.” 😂subtle pat on the back, well earned. Great video.
haha thank you! Glad someone agrees with me...
This is a GREAT video
I can do 2 singles and 1 double under but clearly I now see my rope is too short. Thank you
Great video mate. New for me was the soft knees and going back to single-single-double in workouts. Another thing that has helped me is going back to a heavier beginners rope despite doing CrossFit for more than 8 years. Thanks
Good stuff, glad it's helped!
great video man, great. Thanks, this helped with my double unders. cheers
Thank you for the video. I liked. I'll try your tips.
This is just amazing work, so much to learn from! Thank you very much 🙏
Great video. 5 singles to 1 dub and donkey not pike are two huge takeaways. I’ll be practicing now. I had pretty much given them up.
Don't give up! I've got plenty of videos on them, keep at it!
Awesome video. Learned some great tips with finding the rhythm by doing singles then throwing a double tgen back to singles. Makes more sense.
Glad to hear it!
Great video! Thanks for making this! I'm doing all the problems they did😂😂😂
Amazing. You said a lot of smart stuff! - Best Reagrds, NOHF team. Keep the progress going, because I want more.

This whole tutorial was helpful! TY
Glad it was helpful!
Is there some calculation to determine the length or rope required for double unders ?
Yesterday, after a several attempts doing this du, i finally got it and so happy! Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome analysis! I have "runaway train syndrome" too 😅
Great video! You mention the "extendable" rope and then a rope for a taller guy. What are your suggestions for a rope for a guy who's 6'5"?
Good stuff...THANK YOU !!!!!!!
XL size in this rope - www.crossrope.com/products/wodprep-jump-rope-set/ (so awesome we put our name to them!)
Best one so far..... Legend 👏👏
thanks!
I was told that donkey kicks are _horrible_, which has gotten in the way of progress. Eye opening to hear “I would much rather you donkey kick than pike.” This should free me considerably psychologically. Thanks!
I like that you mentioned that a pike jump is probably better than a donkey jump. Not great, but better.
I have a member that struggles with having soft knees but in the opposite way. She jumps with her knees bent but not absorbing the jump. She’s strictly using her ankles to jump. Any advice?

Yes - try it and let me know how it goes!
Could you please tell me which speed rope are you using (the red one)? Thanks
www.crossrope.com/products/wodprep-jump-rope-set/ (my team and I loved this rope so much we had to create a WODprep one!)
I really need to restart the DU Unleashed course now, those dubs are not going to jump themselves!
Do it! TODAY! Let me know how it goes
Awesome video .I just don't have the rhythm yet.
the penguin clap drill will be gold for you
Very helpfull💪

Loved the video, gonna try to go slower with mine
Thanks for the feedback! Yeah too much speed and it all goes wrong...
This is such a good video

Thanks Ben, I learnt to donkey kick to fix my piking.
I used to do double unders when I was younger but now I'm scared to do it without some more tricks under my belt
Don't be scared! Just work your way back up, it'll be like riding a bike!
Great video!
It's nice to know that I'm not the only one who sucks at it! But I'm not very good with the single unders either!🤣🤣
You are a good coach, watching their form and correcting them in real time. It was nice to see them be able to start making progress!
Thanks for the video and thank you for your "volunteers"! Lol
Keep practicing - I have a ton of double unders videos for you!
fuck yeah this is so awesomely explained I love the rythm!!!
haha thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
Donkey kick is better than pike. Thanks
Zen says you pink Jersey don't put your hands in to your pocket in the gym and in the present of coach. 🥋
Awesome

Check his wrists position. To high and to far out from his hips.
I can do endless DUBs....without a rope😂🤣
Haha! Shame we have to throw a spanner in the works!
The rope is actually too long. His arms are out way too wide
You’re an average Joe as well. Don’t even try to argue otherwise
Good video, but you have a weird definition of "average Joe."
