    Absolutely the best DU tutorial in the whole of RUclips because Kyle has simplified it and made certain things very obvious, that were previously hard to grasp. By easily making you understand the basic mathematics, and reminding you to maintain consistency ( by eliminating a number of variables ie consistent speed so no acceleration/ deceleration and fixed wrist position ), everything else falls into place. He also dispels misinformation given by other RUclipsrs who attempt to teach DUs. Thank you Kyle .

    Thanks for these videos! Just started watching like 20 minutes ago and found them very useful.
    Im 70 years old, a 3X heart-attack survivor and am re-entering a martial arts training program. Our instructor had us beginning jump rope and boy do I SUCK at it! I'll buy my own jump rope and start ising your training methods! Hopefully I can burn off the 40 or so pounds Ive gained in the past 15 years or so and gain some flexibility.

      Welcome! It's never too late to turn things around! The big thing I have found with fitness is don't try to do it all at once. Gradually make new habits with nutrition and workouts and refine as you go.
      The people that fail take on extremes.
      You got this!🤙

    Love this video. Especially about the rope SPEED it makes so much sense
    I can do the jump height but not the rope speed. Lots of videos telling you to flick your wrist twice to get the rope round twice … and do it in a rhythm to match your jump , which when I think about it now, I’m not flicking my wrist once to do a single under I’m rotating it. So the terminology used set me up for failure straight away.
    Now I can go away and work on my rotation speed rather than flicking my wrist twice in a completely unnatural movement for me in skipping.
    Thank you so much still helping people 3 years later 🙏

    This is by far the best double under tutorial on RUclips! I must have watched at least a dozen tutorials in which they basically show you how to do a double under by doing a double under which is absolutely useless if you don't know how to do a double under! Your video shows how to practice single unders and their variations to slowly ramp up to doing double unders! Great advice! Could you also make a tutorial on how to do cross overs (AKA criss crosses)?

    I know this is an old video, but I am so glad it exists. Thank you for giving me a different perspective on DUs. I have been jumping rope for a year now and consistent DUs have eluded me (PVC and beaded ropes doing footwork and tricks). All other tutorials just say "spin the rope faster and jump higher" but I have still struggled with putting this together. Your drills and explanations make so much more sense! Thank you!

  • @pedrotrberaldo

    Dude, your approach to DU with the DU Equation is ellegant. You break it down in a way that makes sense and it's so evident that it'll work yet I don't think anyone has done it before.
    I have been able to do a few DUs but nothing consistent. I know exactly what to work on now.
    If I may suggest, I'd consider making a shorter, a bit more to the point version of the same content could reach even more people!

    Hi Kyle, I would like to say a massive thank you for this tutorial. I started jumping rope in September of 2021 and after 2 months I was still unable to do even one DU... until yesterday! I've stumbled across this video a month ago, and been practicing the drills over and over. And yesterday, I was able to do my first DU. Actually it got me so pumped and motivated, i even managed to do a few of them. My form is far from perfect, and my heels tend to go up a bit, but i will definitely be working on it. Just wanted to say thanks for this great tutorial!!!

    • @Jump15official
      @Jump15official  3 года назад +2

      Right on Gary, that's AWESOME! Way to put the tips into practice and actually work on them🤜 Too often people want the immediate result, but it hamstrings them down the road. Now that you've felt it you will begin to dial it in and continue to improve.
      For the heels (I'm guessing they are kicking backwards) focus on what I call jump follow through, which is pushing thru your jump leaving your toes hanging slightly towards the ground (like your standing under the b-ball hoop and jumping trying to touch the rim - everything remains in a straight line). Doing this won't allow you to kick your feet back or tuck your legs.
      Keep crushing it!🤙

    You know what is really funny? When I was a kid, jumping rope was a neighborhood thing in the North East. Double Dutch was all over the place. You could barely see the rope move. You went by sound more than sight. The movement you call a "double under" was done by every kid on the block.
    The really fast kids were doing triples. I know because I did them, a very, very, very long time ago (in a galaxy far, far away).
    We used to run down the sidewalks for an hour skipping the rope as we went!
    We all used clothes line pieces left over from when our parents set up new lines! No handles, just a piece of rope. I can still remember the way that cord would whistle as it flew past our ears to get three swings before we touched down. We did it for fun! No wonder I could run three or four miles and not get tired!
    Oh well, no one escapes the clock.
    You are making a great video. Please keep up the good work. After 60+ years, I am getting back into jump rope. Your video is a great asset. Thank you for bringing back some wonderful memories.

I started jumping during Covid lockdowns from level 0 and now i can easily do 30 minutes sessions with regular jumping, alternate leg, crossings etc. I am able to do DU every 2-3 regular jumps but I can't do consecutive DU. I can do all steps you recommend here, I will focus more on weak points and rope length. I am glad you say that isn't true that is enough to push hard the first round as the second one comes "as a consequence", I did find that crazy from my first trials. I agree with other comments and condider this as the bedt DU tutorial I have seen. Many jumpers on social medias seem showing how to do 1 DU and after consecutive DUs seem coming overnight.

    This has to be one of the hardest skills yet for me I have focused on rope speed need to work on the alternate leg more and speeding that up I seem to not jump high enough I can do a double under but sometimes I end up wacking the back of my head I need to learn better rope control and when to slow it back down to continue the normal bounce after I do one definitely is tricky and boy the double unders really wear you out fast!

      @@MajesticLawnGnome right on. Ya developing rope speed comes with practice. I remember struggling to keep my left wrist in sync with my right at high speeds. The downward stroke of the wrist movement is where the acceleration comes from, then you're mostly keeping up with the rope to keep it tight until the next downward stroke...if that makes sense.

    Thanks! Do you do something to protect your crossrope when jumping on concrete and asphalt? I'm scared to use mine outside

    • @Jump15official
      @Jump15official  4 года назад

      Na, If you have it sized right where it's more so skimming the ground vs slapping and you choose the smoothest concrete surface you can, I don't worry about it too much and just keep an eye on it for excess wear. I have done this for the past 4+ years and get on avg. a year out of my 1/4 lb rope which is pretty darn good.
      Note: I don't jump on concrete daily and my workouts avg. 15-20 min. Mixing it up with bodyweight exercises.

      You're having trouble with jump height? If so, work that rope speed up so you don't have to jump that high. Also, make sure you're not pike or tuck jumping expending energy in the wrong direction. All force should go down thru the balls of your feet. Keep at it dude!💪
