  • for "Blue Moon of Kentucky" was written in 1945 by bluegrass musician Bill Monroe and recorded by his band, the Blue Grass Boys. The song has since been recorded by many artists, including Elvis Presley, Ray Charles, Stan Getz, John Fogerty, and Paul McCartney. "Blue Moon of Kentucky" is now the official bluegrass song of Kentucky.
    In 2002, Monroe's version was one of 50 recordings chosen that year by the Library of Congress to be added to the National Recording Registry. In 2003, CMT ranked "Blue Moon" number 11 in its list of 100 Greatest Songs in Country Music.
    Patsy Cline recorded "Blue Moon" in February 5, 1963, one month before she died in her plane crash March 5, 1963 at 30 years old. Her vocals were later overdubbed over a different arrangement for the soundtrack for her biographical "Sweet Dreams" movie. Her television live performance of the song was broadcast 2 weeks here before her death, done February 18, 1963 from WSMV-TV, 5700 Knob Rd, Nashville TN for Pet Milk TV Grand Ole Opry #222. Her record with the song first appeared posthumously on her LP first released as "A Portrait Of Patsy Cline", released June 15, 1964, produced by Owen Bradley and arranged by Bill McElhiney with The Jordanaires on background vocals, Rita Faye Wilson autoharp, Floyd Cramer keyboards, Pig Robbins piano, Bill Pursell vibraphone, Bob Moore, Joseph Zinkan bass, Harold Bradley, Wayne Moss electric six string bass, Buddy Harman drums, Byron Bach violin and cello, Brenton Banks, George Binkley III, Cecil Brower, Solie Fott, Nancy Hearn, Lillian Hunt, Martin Katahn, Mildred Onk, Verne Richardson, Wilda Tinsley, Gary Williams on violins, Howard Carpenter violin and viola, Ed Tarpley viola, Randy Hughes guitar, Ray Edenton rhythm guitar, Walter Haynes pedal steel guitar, and Grady Martin on electric guitar as musical director.
    Here, her performance has been remixed and remastered by DocRock1007 with original black and white footage from her television broadcast reprocessed in HD color including footage of Grady Martin playing guitar.
