Does anyone ever wonder why we are still listening to Patsy? It's been 57 years since she was taken from us, and she was a star for many years before that. It's because she was a star, her music was music for the ages. Patsy will never grow old, her music will never grow old and fade away. So many of the so called stars today will never be able to say that. Patsy was a one of a kind and once you hear her, she is with you forever after. We are so fortunate that we still have her music, and we always will.
Perfectly said! I'm quite confident she would have had a decades long career with that stunning voice, but she is forever captured in that perfect bubble. Like Marilyn, and so many others taken before their time. The mystique around Patsy will be around forever I suppose.
Patsy is and always will be number one, her songs will live forever her singing voice left an impression, that was her song no one else's, she's in heaven now singing God's praise's.

I'm 72 and have been listening to Patsy since1960 or so. I love her. However I don't just live in the past. There are dozens of equally talented singers that I've heard and loved and I find more every year. No one singer is untouchable or the 'best', there are 'favorites' - personal bests - for everyone. Spread your musical wings and ears.
I absolutely positively LOVE this song and Patsy Cline's voice in singing it. This, by far, is my fav song of hers and is on my all time list. Unbelievable vibrato back n forth between her and the violinists. Gives me chills every single time I hear it.
My Mom looked like her too. My Mom was from Arkansas and she would listen to her every Sunday while she worked around our house. I remember the plane accident and we all mourned for weeks including my Mom who would cry for years every time she heard anything Patsy would sing.
Every time I hear I go out walkin' after midnight,it fills my heart up with tears.Whenever I was sad,I'd go literally walking and thinking of what that song meant in so many ways on my darkest of nights...She was a Queen of Song!
+Joe Dellarocco This song was released right after her death. This is real talent not just the hype and histrionics you see today. Nora Jones is the real thing though. Try "I'll be you baby tonight" (Dylan song sung by Nora Jones) it's on youtube
+Joe Dellarocco Not in any genre. Country was good for her to start because pop just didn't give a good singer any room, what with all the guitars and noise. She'd have been a great jazz singer. But the fact is, she had a great voice, no matter what she sang. She was at the top.
Her voice transcended a genre, which is why her producers 'crossed' her over to a wider audience. It would have been criminal to leave her in a single class of music. She was one of the great voices of our time. She still tears at my heartstrings like so few can. What a loss it was for her to meet such a horrible and early demise. Music needed her.
Most beautifully filmed sequence in the whole film, so stunning that it hurts. I remember seeing this in the theater when it came out and this scene blazed over the big screen was breathtaking. Jessica Lange did a marvelous job of capturing Patsy and as others have commented, they smartly used Patsy's original recordings as Cline's voice has never been matched and probably never will. (The recently produced "Judy" did not make such a wise decision and Renee's voice distracted, sadly.) What made this sequence even more dramatic was that it led up to the sequence that involved the plane crash that took Cline's life. Such talent, such loss.
She was a legend then & now! Today's "Stars" can't carry a tune. They all need fire, lights, dancing & hoopla going on all while warbling into a microphone! Stop! Just stop! Listen to the old greats & learn a lesson or many.
rose ison back in the late 50s and 60's the am radio stations played this music until they became country and western and had their own stations so we got schooled on don Gibson Willie Nelson etc and loved this brand of music and was aware of her death and being exposed to yet another form of music to go Motown folk rock Doo wop etc Patsy was one of one
@rose ison Chills, I still get chills. I’m able to close my eyes and my 80 y/o mothers is 30 again. And dancing in my fathers arms, in our living room of our little bungalow. +kingbushwickthe33rd I still find it hard to believe this song never went to #1. It got as high as #5 on the country charts and #44 on the Billboard Hot 100. The lady had so much more to give, she was really just getting started. The first lady to join The Grand Old Opry. She asked to join and they said yes. It had never happened before and still has not been done since. Only 2 #1 songs at the time of her passing, "I fall to pieces" and 'She's got you" The country lost a true national treasure. My 52 year old heart still weeps.
Tell everyone a little secret about the African American Community. Most of us won´t admit it out in the open, but quite a few of us are closeted Patsy Cline Fans. Pull us off to the side and ask us, and most of us will tell you that we think she´s one of the greatest singers to have ever existed. We however can´t let that out too the public too much. LOL

Joe Seddon here, a You Tube musician and pleased to be counted among them. The Sterling Brothers, Mark Hutchinson and yours truly, had the great fortune to back Patsy during a concert she gave while at the peak of her career and before her untimely passing. She was so sweet, down-to-earth and a delight to appear with before a very large fan base, all of whom adored her as we did. Not only did she possess a timeless voice, she remained a great person despite the fame and fortune. I could go on at length about the concert but, you know the story. Standing ovations, some in tears, moved by her powerful renditions. I recall nearly losing it when she sang "Crazy." Wow. Hard to play guitar and be falling apart too. I count appearing with her onstage as one of the highlights of a lengthy career in music. Like most, i mourned her loss and was broken hearted to know she was gone forever. Gone, but never forgotten. Patsy`s music remains as a testimony to her amazing talent, surely the songs of an angel. Joe
Joe Seddon that's amazing you knew Patsy Cline ... her voice she holds you in her palm of her hand with every note she sings . I'm only 35 but I grew up listening to her and Loretta Lynn and Johnny Cash, george Jones , Waylon Jennings.the greats of country singer's.. and Patsy touches your heart when she sings you could feel her emotion in every word she sang . a life cut way to short country music took a bad hit when Patsy Cline died .. I wish I was alive back then to have met an artist because she is an artist .there will never ever be another Patsy Cline .. or Loretta Lynn . I was fortunate to have been able to see the coalminers daughter in concert and when she sings that song it brings me to tears . she always thanks Patsy Cline her Best friend .they were what country music should still be like and sound like .but their will never be another Patsy Cline or Loretta Lynn. even though years ago when I was 13 they thought they had a new Patsy even gave her the song" Blue". that was written for Patsy Cline but look she was no Patsy Noone can come close to Patsy Cline's voice. she was and forever will be the 1st lady of country music.. R.I.P Patsy.
Joe Seddon I would love to hear more about Patsy and your journey with music ,touring, that must have been amazing how many people can say they met let alone played guitar for Patsy Cline. that's truly amazing and a beautiful memory to have been on stage with the best female country singer of all-time. and I heard she was truly sweet and kind and that she had an amazing since of humor . god bless her . r.i.p Patsy Cline a life cut too short .
I was 12 yrs old when I saw Patsy in person. At the Brooklyn, Paramont Movie & stage house, in Brooklyn, New York. I new is was Love when I heard that voice ring out. Patsy was a Star & will always shine on. Patsy will never be replaced ever. Her voice was Gold.
How very fortunate you were! I was singing her songs with proper voice and expression long before age 12. Would have loved to have seen and heard her live.
Patsy Cline is still today after many years of loving music my all forever favorite female singer & my all time favorite song "Sweet Dreams".She was & is still consider a top notch songstress recognized by many many people from all over the world of country music. She's one lady to never be forgotten in my book. sincerely with Love, julio c. henriques/artist since 1961
@@williamturner1517 It's called "lip synching", not "mouthing", which generally implies talking disrespectfully or talking too much. By that quirky little criterion of yours, no one should ever play a gifted vocalist in a biopic, since no one but Patsy herself could ever sound like Patsy Cline. The film makers were right to decide to use Patsy's own voice. Nothing else would have worked nearly as well. Also, you are confused regarding awards.Oscars are awarded to actors or actresses for their ability to convincingly play *someone else*. Grammys are awarded to vocalists singing as themselves. Comparing the two types of performing is like apples and oranges. Educate your pompous self before opining.
I think she did a great job playing Patsy. She didn't do her own vocals but in Coal Miners Daughter Beverly D'angelo did her own singing for playing Patsy and Sissy Spacek did her own singing playing Loretta Lynn. Both did amazing jobs.
this song makes my "top 10" easily. What a voice, I turn up the volume on this song and just enjoy the experience !!! The way she holds the notes, just outstanding. Knockout !

[Verse 1] Sweet dreams of you Every night I go through Why can't I forget you and start my life anew Instead of having sweet dreams about you [Verse 2] You don't love me its plain I should know I'll never wear your ring I should hate you the whole night through Instead of having sweet dreams about you [Verse 3] Sweet dreams of you Things I know can't come true Why can't I forget the past, start loving someone new Instead of having sweet dreams about you

Every time I hear I go out walkin' after midnight,it fills my heart up with tears.Whenever I was sad,I'd go literally walking and thinking of what that song meant in so many ways on my darkest of nights...She was a Queen of Song!
it was a terrible loss for everyone but mostly her family...
My mom also on Sundays, her only day off would be singing her songs while house cleaning. I can close my eyes and see her now
Those small plane crashes are so common, and so unreported usually. She died like JFK and his wife died, dying when she should not have.
I'm 25 and im not gonna lie but i love this kind of music
Patsy been gone for quite a long time, but no one has come close to better her voice. Not in country anyway.
OMG, Norah is amazing, I love her music.
Not at all, in any venue, or voice !
So many of her songs simply tug at your heart. A very emotional singer.
She made the listener feel the emotions in the lyrics.

That's CRAZY😇😇😇😇😇
Beautifully said ❤💯
Every time I hear that performance, I get chills up my spine. Absolutely flawless voice!
She sang like an angel her voice is so beautiful
This song gives you chills. She was so great.
Hello Charlotte, how're you doing, I hope you are doing fine. I'm Hendrych from Houston, Texas. Where are you from? Seems like a real Country girl 😊
I will always love Patsy Cline...............
Billy East. Me too.miss Patsy so muc she just tear-jerking ,heart wrenching .so emotional . voice just rip right thru
no one like Patsy, period.
period. the greatest female vocalist EVER!
She was a legend then & now! Today's "Stars" can't carry a tune. They all need fire, lights, dancing & hoopla going on all while warbling into a microphone!
Stop! Just stop! Listen to the old greats & learn a lesson or many.
There will never, ever be another Patsy Cline.Just love her!
rose ison back in the late 50s and 60's the am radio stations played this music until they became country and western and had their own stations so we got schooled on don Gibson Willie Nelson etc and loved this brand of music and was aware of her death and being exposed to yet another form of music to go Motown folk rock Doo wop etc Patsy was one of one
@rose ison Chills, I still get chills. I’m able to close my eyes and my 80 y/o mothers is 30 again. And dancing in my fathers arms, in our living room of our little bungalow. They are in love, Kennedy is in the WH, & Santa still comes in December. Life was good, & I still love her music. Classics stay classics & we will never have another PC. RIP, dear woman.
Her songs are so beautiful and what a voice.
Hello Kentucky Woman, how're you doing, I hope you are doing fine. I'm Hendrych from Houston, Texas. Where are you from? Seems like a real Country girl 😊
How can you put into words a voice that every time you hear it gives you the chills I will love her forever we are so lucky to have gotten to enjoy her God bless you Patsy

Hello Michelle, how're you doing, I hope you are doing fine. I'm Hendrych from Houston, Texas. Where are you from? Seems like a real Country girl 😊
What an amazing performance! There aren't enough words to describe Patsy and this song...... It just can't be done! I have been a fan from the first time I heard her sing and I will be 74 soon. Many hours of pure pleasure over the years and I will continue to enjoy her music.
Greatest singer ever!!!
Love her voice!!!
Yea, but this is an actress, not Patsy Cline.
Her songs still give me chills after all these years. We lost one of the best performers of my lifetime when she was killed in that plane crash.
Just turned 74 myself--and ditto to your words. This one is a great medicine for me
Very Hauntingly Beautiful Song.Patsy Cline Was a Beautiful Woman With a Hauntingly Beautiful Voice Who Died Tragically Young.Sorry Faith;Shania;Taylor and All The Rest of You Prdtty Country Pop Princesses But None of You Can Hold a Candle to Patsy;Loretta and Tammy!!
+kingbushwickthe33rd Amen !!!
Yep!!I tell you what!!
I agree 100%
Mandy Barnett does Patsy Cline proud 🎶🎶🎶🤩
Dzesika Lang u ulozi Petsi Klajn, fenomenalno je iznela ulogu ♥️
Tell everyone a little secret about the African American Community. Most of us won´t admit it out in the open, but quite a few of us are closeted Patsy Cline Fans. Pull us off to the side and ask us, and most of us will tell you that we think she´s one of the greatest singers to have ever existed.
We however can´t let that out too the public too much. LOL

Nora Johnson I agree with you 10000%.
You said it--53 or so years gone--I've lived it all without her and feel it too. Imagine the songs she would have belted out by now?
man. she did it
Jessica did a better job than anyone else could have, I believe.
CrazyCat Lady And D'angelo sang herself Patsy's songs.

The best pipes in the business then, now & forever.
Absolutely!
Joe

Wow, what a great memory!
Thanks for sharing that Joe. Her voice is timeless and bridges generations.Taken far too soon.
So true. She died way too young.
How very fortunate you were! I was singing her songs with proper voice and expression long before age 12. Would have loved to have seen and heard her live.
Forever Timeless! One of those songs you close your eyes to listen to. Chill bumps, haunting!
jessica lange,,,,, amazin as patsy cline ;)
Patsy Cline is still today after many years of loving music my all forever favorite female singer & my all time favorite song "Sweet Dreams".She was & is still consider a top notch songstress recognized by many many people from all over the world of country music. She's one lady to never be forgotten in my book.
sincerely with Love,
julio c. henriques/artist since 1961
Hello Julio how are you doing and hope you're staying safe over there?
One Of the greatest singers of all time!
MS. Lange deserved an Oscar for this performance!
Say Honolulu brother!
Not mouthing a sound track. Deborah Kerr, King and I. Audrey Hepburn, My Fair Lady. You can't get an award mouthing someone else.
@@williamturner1517 Angela Bassett lip synced to Tina Turner in What's Love Got t d With It! She got nominated for her performance anyway!
It isn't as easy as you might think. I agree she was amazing! Jessica Lange is a renowned actress.. and I'm sure she would have made Patsy proud 👏
Jessica Lange, she does this acting so good it almost looks like she's really singing it. What a doll she was.
I think she did a great job playing Patsy. She didn't do her own vocals but in Coal Miners Daughter Beverly D'angelo did her own singing for playing Patsy and Sissy Spacek did her own singing playing Loretta Lynn. Both did amazing jobs.
One charmer with the World's best voice
Can easily tell she’s miming, singing comes from the heart,
@@maxipaz5597 rude!
One of the best actor/mimers was the late Bob Hoskins. Watch him in Pennies From Heaven; brilliant.
One of Country's Greatest Classics.
oh my...this one just sends me. My favorite Patsy song. What a voice.
Good night and God bless
piekny film biograficzny , szkoda że nie mozna go znów zobaczyć.
"Słodkie marzenia" rok 1983
I grew up listening to patsy walking after midnight and became interested in her songs such a shame she died so young.
this song makes my "top 10" easily. What a voice, I turn up the volume on this song and just enjoy the experience !!! The way she holds the notes, just outstanding. Knockout !
Jessica Lange doing Patsy proud. Love this movie and Jessica Lange channels Patsy Cline like no other. ❤️
What a vocal. Like Karen Carpenter, she gently tip toes the high notes sounding really good and never harsh. Pure perfection
My stepdad told me she has got the best singer 👩🎤 voice he has heard and his 72 years old after seeing this film clips now l no why
She’s one of my favorite singer of all time ! Love all her songs! Whenever I’m depressed I’ll listen to it n it relaxes me.❤️❤️❤️

A voice that God sent. Sweet dreams is on my list as one of my 2 favorite songs in my whole life and I'm 83 and have heard a thousand or more. It actually gives me goose bumps listening to that beautiful song. The lyrics. The melody and the beautiful voice that sang it. Rest in peace beautiful patsy cline
[Verse 1]
Sweet dreams of you
Every night I go through
Why can't I forget you and start my life anew
Instead of having sweet dreams about you
[Verse 2]
You don't love me its plain
I should know I'll never wear your ring
I should hate you the whole night through
Instead of having sweet dreams about you
[Verse 3]
Sweet dreams of you
Things I know can't come true
Why can't I forget the past, start loving someone new
Instead of having sweet dreams about you
boy what a voice!
