I needed to hear this. My TSH has gone up higher than it has ever been with everything else being normal after supplementing with 9mg Lugols and 6mg from seaweed extract (15mg total daily). Thanks!

Doctors, This is a very good topic and well explained by the both of you. Four years ago, I started taking Synthroid 0.025 mg for Hypothyroidism and one day I came across a video about Iodine and it blew my mind! On the next visit to my doctor, I asked if he thought that I should try the Iodine and see how it works. He said, nooo...... don't take that your thyroid will get worse, only take the medication I prescribed! I was thinking, I take Synthroid at 6:a.m so I could take 2 drops of Lugol's 2% Iodine at 8: a.m (that would be 2 hours between both medications) and see if my Hypothyroidism will be any better with my next blood test. Doctor, I'd like to know what do you think about my suggestion of taking the Iodine although, I'm taking Synthroid. Would you please let me know? Thanks to the both of you and God bless🙏🌹
Most doctors fear iodine supplementation because they either don't understand the biochemistry of the tyrosine/iodone production pathway, they follow the RDA (which is way too low), or don't want to risk it interfering with replacement thyroid hormones. The same reasons why most doctors discourage drastic diet changes for diabetic patients.
@@NutritionwithJudy With so many people in a diseased state, supplements if done properly can tremendously help turn the tide, especially in gut and thyroid healing. I'm glad that you are not one who frowns upon them like with so many others in this health community. But I do understand why some do not break from the norm. It becomes a risk not only to their license, but to their practice, if they use treatments that don't fall in line with standard of care. The word "doctor" is to teach. It's lost its meaning unfortunately

I’ve had my thyroid robed in 2015 at a very well known teaching hospital and I’ve been struggling to lose weight before this happened and not one doc tested for mineral deficiency nor iodine deficiency…to get off this crazy train as I now take 200mcg per day and it’s insane there must be another way. Years ago I had a full hysterectomy and the docs had my on hormone replacement therapy and after a year or so I stopped them all and well I didn’t die nor have all the fear stores they said I’d have. So my question is this; “can I take liquid iodine supplements/drops to get rid it the Levoxyl I now take daily or if I stop will my bones break and will I die” these are the fear story I was told by Stanford..yep I had to name the hospital folks..sorry
Both I and my mother feel awful quite quickly when supplementing iodine at all. I've become curious if it's true that we're largely taking the wrong form and that vitamin A is causing conversion of the rest into the wrong form as well. I know the popular reasoning is halide flushing, but Garrett Smith makes an interesting case in his archives that might vaguely make sense for why it doesn't seem to resolve and doesn't feel better with salting out.
NO! This should be common sense. If you were feeling bad after taking the Iodine that's because Iodine detoxes halogens (bromide, fluoride, and chloride. There's a process of which you have to go by. LOTS of salt in water will usually take the detox symptoms away or bring them down.
@@gingerinthedesertcreations SMH. Common sense isn't too common... Assuming you're talking about table salt then yes, you should NEVER consume that... but back to what I was saying. You have to do what's called "salt landing" for it to work with a REAL salt, not the fake dangerous crap. I'm sorry it doesn't make sense to "your" logic, but you really should look into the science of it. As to the salt, I feel unwell taking more than 1.5 tsp of added salt per day in and of itself, even the magic himalayan pink and Real Salts. That makes me believe that going above that level intentionally for days on end would be contraindicated. Thank you for your good intentions. I'm more willing to test an alternate theory at this point that puts a lot of faith in something that sounds crazy but has more than a little "but what if?" to it because doing what they tell me is supposed to be right and proper for humans made me very very sick for a very long time. Limiting vit. A and following the detox guidelines has made me feel the best I have in about 2 years. Maybe it'll be short lived, or maybe it's the real break I've been looking for.
I have a goiter with nodules and saw 2 doctors. Both said this is normal, we'll look at it again next year? Neither wanted to do additional labs. Is there nothing that can be done? Is it not a big deal? I went on my own and started taking the 1 drop of Lugol's in hopes of doing something. Do the doctors want me to wait a year in hopes the next ultrasound will be clear? I have been keto for 3 years and carnivore for 1.
Doctors will tell you it's normal cause they want you sick. You make them a lot of money when you're sick. Dr. Brownstein has books on it that discusses the proper protocols. This will save your thyroid along with diet and lifestyle changes.
I have to agree with Jane Doe. Doctors have good intention but they also cannot make any money from healthy and dead people. When surgery becomes the only option it's very profitable. Most of them don't give treatment options simply because they don't know how to cure conditions. Drugs only treat symptoms
Hypothyroid slightly but why does taking iodine (iosol, kelp, lugols, nascent) all cause thyroid to feel inflamed when taking even a little bit? and bm
If it's spiking it's because you're detoxing due to what sounds like a cortisol spike in the presence of toxins being flushed out. It's just a stress response due to you kicking up those toxins and flushing them out. I would make sure you're following a safe protocol like Dr. Brownstein's protocol.
I use one drop of 2% Lugol's per gallon of water for the past 6 months. Just ran TSH test and it came back exactly in the middle of the standard range. Unsure what effect it has on blood glucose.
@@John-Nada That's not enough. While starting out slow is good for some, depending on what an Iodine loading urine test would say, you may need to get as high as 150mg like many people have to do to see any benefits. Don't be afraid of Lugol's Iodine.
