I guess I'm still skeptical because I've never broken down or considered my old SRV unreliable because it's air cooled. The only time it quit on me was because the fuel pump was too old and I had failed to maintain it. Once in 25 years seems pretty reliable to me.
you know, those two stroke vintage sleds came before the the fancy four strokes because you just cant expect to have a sled from the late 60s with a-arm front suspension, slide action rear suspension, fuel injection, heated handlebars, reverse, electric start, hydraulic disc brakes and power steering. I personally have respect for older sleds because they are more simple and cheaper to own, sure they wont go 100+ mph, ride in the mountains, handle crushing drops, vintage sleds are all about having a good time on the trails.
I dirve elan snowmobiles , I have a single cylnder 1971, a 72 twin , a 76 twin a 78 twin and a mix match one lunger , me and my dad rode them for hours through the mountains in like a meter of snow , best time ever , if you want a cheap easy somewhat reliabale vintage snowmobile with lots of parts for sale go with bombardiar elan , plus they are pretty well priced from being mint condition ath the mose $ 1500
My fan cooled 1997 Ski-doo Formula fan Sl 500 blew up a couple hours ago this evening while heading home from my first run of the season Thankfully I have 3 other sleds including my 2011 Yamaha Rs Vector, I should have taken that out today.
I snow checked a 2006 Yamaha Attack .. Yamaha sent me a DVD of this in the Mail .. I enjoy it so much .. It's a classic. I also have a Skidoo direct injection 800 really it does not smoke at all but can still smell the Klotz..
@@rodirby5952 It has 3,200 miles on it with a Broken skid. I have a new Team Fast air skid to install. I was going to go to the UP for the first time and they didn't even have much snow in the UP last winter.
Heh, I got the same thing whenever I drove my '71 Puma 440. I never once broke down, I can't start to remember how many newer sleds I towed home.. old sleds don't handle the greatest, but they sure are cheaper and generally more reliable. I think all the glory has been lost in snowmobiling now. New machines have no class, no style.. and basically anyone could drive one. I do honestly question how these newer machines will age. Will they be here in 40+ years?
God....I can't wait for the 4-stroke fad to be over. The mountain guys out West tried it for a few years and are already back in the saddle of 2-stroke sleds. It's just some of the flatlanders back east who haven't caught on.

yamaha phazer mountain sled 3.65m track. 76.5hp, wet wheight 263kg. chassis can't do work because the tunnel is to weak. lynx ranger 49 900 ace utility sled. 90hp (97hp in dyno) 4.14m track 255kg wet weight. and lynx is reinforced to withstand heavy work loads.
i want old snowmobile we have a yamaha 600 vmax xtc and a skidoo 600 but i want old snowmobiles but if they break down you cant get parts for them but if they break down i will use them for show
Looking back at this is funny. Its from a time that yamaha acutaly made snowmobiles. They blindly ignored the market, until sales dwindled to almost nothign. Now they pay Arctic Cat to design and build sleds
When you ride vintage stuff, you eventually figure out that 90% of why it fails, is because some monkey in 1982 did something stupid to it. "Overheated and seized" like that's just normal. No, someone screwed up your jetting or your timing or introduced a big air leak with sloppy work. Throwing your back out while premixing? Not only was oil injection DEFINITELY a thing in the 60s (my 1967 and 1974 Kawasaki's have it) but premixing is as easy as eating a bowl of cereal (there's only 2 ingredients, and you pour the more liquidy one 2nd). Bad suspension... yeah that's totally a thing.
I like my 303 panther runs good simple sounds good will go through 4 ft. of snow I also have a 89 Polaris indy sport and that's been a very good sled the new sleds don't look like snowmobiles they look like Kroch rokett motor cycles with skis I rode one once and I didn't think it was comfortable at all there ugly the older sleds are a lot nicer looking and simple and cheaper theres no fuckin way I would pay 12 or 14 thousand for one of those ugly mutts that don't look like a sled snomobiling is gone to hell everybody thinks they got to go 120 miles per hr. its not a race you suppose to ride and enjoy the scenery not be in a fuckin hurry and do 100 whats the point they can have that shit
As a great man once said, "it ain't snowmobiling less ur coat smells like gas"
And then he rode off on a snowmobile without skis haha
WeaselP22 Louis skiboo
yup, Louis Skebo from Powermodz said that.
Then what ...... He drives off riding a 79 john deere spitfire and blows a motor and gets stuck in the woods for a night . 💩💩
who needs skies

"Johnny regained feeling in his hands just in time" this killed me
I got one of these DVDs in the mail, probably when I was 9 and watched it every day for a while.

Nothing beasts a rip on the ole Bravo or 440
And we us real men had super strength and you know the rest
I miss my 1978 SRX
What do they have against Yukon King's? Mine has only let me down 3 outta the 5 times I rode it.
Lol
That Canadian Tire snow suit saved johns life
ya but when you get that rx1 stuck good luck getting it out Johnny lol
I just bought one but I trail sled more.
Gotta say his old 2-stroke snowmobile runs great considering it was frozen for a couple decades. Wonder if Yamahas modern 4-strokes will do the same.
When I bought a new Yamaha Attack in 2006 .. Yamaha sent me this Video .. Very entertaining..
Hey Johnnie want to sell that old sled ?
I'm staying with my 250 bravo forever and my brother also has a 250 inticer
Bravo must be one of the best work sleds ever... a legend.
Is his name Larry?
We have a 250 bravo 250 enticer and a 300 enticer
Poor Johnny Got hypnotized by the big industry
seeing this reminds my of my old kawasaki invader 440, had so much fun with that old thing
Kardon Cody that as much nt
How is Johnny skeptical feel about Yamaha not making snowmobiles anymore
He bought a 850 Summit like the rest of us old Yamaha diehards, they R very similar on trails
I can't I'm a leafer at heart, stay hardcore
4 STROKE WTFF!!!!
Looks like Jonny might finally get lucky!🙏👍🇱🇷😎
Why is this recommended to me in 2021 😅
2:10 2 cycle is the best smelling thing out there
i remember those old sleds that had the engine right in front of you, carb facing you
Yep me to skidoo and Suzuki no airfillter just sucking snow lol and if your snowsuit got to close well ckoke
Incidentally, nobody mixes gas and oil IN the tank... Also vintage snowmobiles don't overheat that often... Or at all in my experience.
That’s true, I have to mix gas and oil in a fuel can before I use it lol John Deere even says in the manual to do that
@@bencramer5458 yeah. I get they were going to extremes for comedy, but vintage sleds aren't THAT bad.

Why would a fan cooled leave you stranded? No busted coolant hose on those.
Reminds me of the "Time to upgrade, Ernie!" Yamaha sales videos touting 4-strokes. Never saw this one.
I love this video
My 91 Arctic cat has all the features- slide rail and a arm suspension, liquid cool and oil injection

I can't wait to see Yamaha's new snowmobiles for 2026 model year. 😂
Unless something happens, 2025 will be the end of the trail.😢
Johnny outlasted Yamaha.
Yep, I was hoping for an update
Larry Enticed is better

Right and bogie wheels are the best!
I would never buy a 4t sled but those outboards are awesome
Why do you think 4 strokes are bad? They are for sure more reliable especially for smooth riding like ice fishing and trail riding
@@moosemechanic4591 unless you have a two cylinder two stroke, like my 1974 olympique 300 with fan cooled engine and boggie wheel suspension
I had my 2004 rx1 122 mph
Air cooled are pretty reliable
Hard to believe that you would ever want more than the gpx 433 .
"Darn tootin"
Love it - thats a great edit!
I love Johnny, I’d let him adopt me for sure.
Those old school sleds we called billboards no front suspension travel just leaf springs! And yes trying to miix oil and gas those were the days!
Buckboards
I'm sold
I'll take a 600 ACE 4 stroke!
I’ll give you $600 for that Yukon king
love that old sled YOOPER COOL
2 full grown men wearing the same colored suit....not cool
SEND IT!!!!!!!!!!
Yamaha's are the best fuck the rest.
I owned a rx1 and it was nice but you have to change your hyfax every 1000 miles and good luck picking up the back end it weighed about 700lbs
I have 3 elans of my own , I told to get something newer I say the same thing as him , liquid will freeze , too cold for oil injection and my mother loses it on me when I smell like gas I get treated like this every time I see anyone
If the girl don't like the smell of the 2t sled move on to the next one
Damn straight
i still like my 2-Stroke More :D
still gonna send it

I’m stuck to my 84 vmax its reliable two stroke comfortable and faster than the new 4 strokes
I always smell like a chainsaw after riding my Yamaha. ;)

Johnny is right. Get a VK540. Best machine on the snow.
2-stroke is still superior

It's the other way around buddy

I'm going to need allot of crackers to go with all that cheese.
haaaaa haaaaa , awesome 😂😂😂😂😀😀😀 Good job a don't yah know
I've seen some retarded shit on the internet, but I never expected a snowmobile commercial to top it all, good job.
Except that anyone who drives yamaha must deal with it ‘when’ it gets stuck
funniest part about this ad..Arctic Cat created all of those technological advancements!!
Some companies innovate, others imitate.
Yamaha was the first to have oil injection on snowmobiles.
Joe Levandoski and the first to have failures due to them not working.
I’ll stick with my 66 & 67 snowcrusiers
How’s Johnny skeptical these days
LOL you smell like a chainsaw....I can’t feel my hands
I own a 2004 rx1
Most Canadian guy ever
you though this would help sell yamaha's? really?
It is a comedy bit.. Quit taking stuff so serious jeez
***** fine line between comedy and stupidity I guess lol
***** for sure!!!
torchind oh you're stupid. Sorry about that.
@@torchind actually stupidity is easy to spot, they almost always ride Ski-Doo
His out fit makes it look like he works a burger king

actually air cool snowmobile engins have allways been better

Ss440 still🔥🔥🔥

The beginning of the end for yamaha. Now they don't even design of build snowmobiles.
Ah ya they do . ?
Still like his old sled
I like Whit the FBI man told the M about the snow mobile lesson M it's for your own good yours Mel Gibson son James eddward Pryor jr PS call my father
James e pryor jr what the fuck are you talking about?
They have oil injection now Funny Never seen a Yamaha sled you had to mix gas

ski doo
liquid cooling worst idea ever for snowmobiles that and four stroke engines just cause she’s smokin don’t mean she’s broken

Acting as good as in nineties porn movies.
Fuck 4 strokes there I said it as far as I’m saying it 2 stroke smoke smells awesome especially klotz oil
