Tom Petty is one of the best in the rock music business. He did not need to use face paint like the band kiss or jump in the air or be flashy any other way. He just played that good old rock music and you could sing along and knew every word. That is what made him one of the best.

Tom Petty is great, love his music. With that being said Kiss did not use face paint to make it in the business. Kiss wanted to give people something that they never seen before. Back then Concerts were just ok, guys walking out on stage in blue jeans and T shirts and just standing there and playing. The only bands back in the day that could pull that off and give a really good show were Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, The Who, AC/DC, Nugent just to name a few. Kiss put on a show, the greatest show on earth from beginning to end, you got your money's worth and then some. I'm telling you right now if you never seen Kiss live you missed out, it would be the greatest concert you ever seen period. I have seen so many concerts too many to list and Kiss put on the best show.

Me and a buddy were driving around Hollywood one afternoon...and in the car next to us were Tom and George Harrison.
I started a conversation with Tom at the red light and we chatted about Don Felder and Mudcrutch.
Tom seemed surprised by my knowledge of him and the music scene in Gainesville.
He asked what we were doing in the next hour...I said "whatever you want us to do".
He said follow us...We drove up to Tom's place, the one that burned down.
We smoked and enjoyed some fine single malt...with Tom Petty and George fucking Harrison.
My life seemed complete that day.

I miss Tom terribly! totally saw the pain, ( I guess when you suffer that serious pain, it’s easy to see it in others). Doctors these days absolutely refuse to prescribe meds that can make some ones life at least tolerable. My heart just breaks knowing that he didn’t have to die.
Same with Taylor Hawkins, a 50 year old man or woman cannot be expected to perform consistently show after show, like when they were in their 20’s. Taylor like Tom, so loved the joy and happiness they gave their fans. So glad Tom and Dana ‘found’ each other! What a couple, they radiated love and light. Tom was so loved by, and enjoyed his time with Dana, they both just radiated peace, love and light.
Tom, thank you for the gifts you shared with the world, you are so missed.

Tom Petty was real, honest, the man had integrity. It is hard to believe he is gone. So many have left us. I don't know about you , but Ive always been aware that these greatest of the great Rock and Rollers were all going to go in the same basic time frame. I am grateful that I was born in the times they were but just a little younger so that as they were becoming super stars yet were still approachable, That I was ready for all they had to give us. Thank you all who have passed and us who will pass as well. I am so happy I was born when I was. Tom and all of you gave me a good life. I would not trade times with anyone.

Willow had been very restless on the 4 hour journey to get to the meeting point. Once she was in my car w/Petty songs rather than the Christmas music the other driver had played, Willow
calmed right down. She still lies in front of the speakers when I play Petty music.

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers backed Johnny Cash on one of the series of albums he did late in his life with Rick Rubin. Tom left about 250 shows where he was a DJ on his Sirius XM channel called Buried Treasure. They play 2 or 3 of those shows every day. If you listen to a few of them you'll hear the music that influenced him and how broad his tastes were. He and the Heartbreakers could play anything. Benmont Tench (piano and keyboards) does a couple of shows a month on the Petty channel and said recently that Tom knew more about the music of the 50's and 60's than anybody he's ever met. The live concert recordings like this one and the 2 big box sets (Live Anthology and Live at the Fillmore) include a lot of cover songs of many different types.
