I had the pleasure and distinct honor to see Tom on June 8th, 2005, kicking off a tour at the Coral Sky Amphitheatre in Wellington, FL. He had such a wonderful, casual, comfortable rapport with the crowd. It was like spending an evening hanging out with an old buddy. By all accounts he loved what he did right up to the end. Maybe that's why he was so special. RIP.
A few months before Tom went on to join Roy and George at the next Wilbury's tour stop, he and the Heartbreakers played the Boston Garden. Being a working musician/one man band, I hardly go to shows because I'm always gigging. I heard about this show and got a gut feeling I should go because I'd never seen them and how much longer would they realistically be touring? Anyway I was playing a few days prior, had put the Petty show out of my mind as it would have been too expensive taking the night off, plus the ticket, plus parking, food, etc...This guy who I'd just met and was requesting Tom Petty songs was talking to me on break, said he won tickets but had no one to go with as he was from out of state. Before I could even think about it I said I'll go( he was a Tom Petty fan so he must be cool enough to go to the show with ). Went to the show, sat right behind Benmont Tench and got to experience what it was like to be a member of America's greatest Rock and Roll band playing to a sold out Boston Garden. Best show of my life made possible by Divine Intervention....Thanks Tom for the music , thanks Dave for the ticket and thanks God for giving me that gift.

We are sooo incredibly lucky to have all this amazing music from such a talented and complex human being. Thank you, dear Tom. We love you, always.
I was in London celebrating my birthday with my family after ages on not seeing them. He died that day. We all sang songs and toasted his wonderful contribution to our lives for many years. I cried...
Thank you for posting the this Album. Some of these songs I haven't heard since they played as the " House Band for Dub's Lounge" here in Gainesville, as I was blessed to grow up with these guys. R.I.P. my beloved friend Tom. Rock on with the God and the Angel's in Heaven, along with with Howie Roy, George, Johnny, Bo Diddley, and the rest that went before you and have since joined you. We will meet again.🎸💘🎤🎹🎶🐊
I'm fortunate with my T.P. collection I listen to some every day and sometimes I'm in dreamvill and not so sad Tom is gone. His soul will remain in my heart.♥️
nothing less than the best EVERY TIME he played.. miss him, but we know he is up there smiling, playing with the others who left before him, RIP Tom.. you are missed
As long as I can remember listening to music, it was always a healthy portion of tp and the heartbreakers. Saw him only one time. 7/4/86, with the Dead and Dylan 🥳but this record is the only one of Tom's that I put my money down for ❤ outstanding performance, thanks for sharing this!
This concert is so GREAT. I could listen to it every night. Tom, I hope you can know how much we LOVE you. Thanks for sharing your magic. It still goes on. Hope you're having a wonderful time in heaven.
I don’t know how a GREAT BAND like this starts out so good and 40 some years later they ARE EVEN BETTER ! But By God these guys DID what NO OTHER band has even come close to doing. I mean any band can BE MADE to sound in a recording studio. The true test is LIVE PERFORMANCES and NO ONE even comes close !
@@bobbyfoxworth4463 I think you have forgotten while mentioning the length of time a band has had its following for that length of time if not longer ( the Rolling Stones) . Thanks for all the best music in my opinion to the States and the UK ,Other than these two countries there is no competition and I must give thanks 🙏👍.
Just simply the best.... my go to satellite station. Especially love Tom’s Buried Treasure shows. .... and I love what Mike said about TPATHB ..... “ we didn’t make rock, blues , country or jazz , or pop music .... we simply just made music.” ....
Wonderful new music ❤🎉 I have been a fan of TPs since the beginning His music is timeless and I will listen to his music until the end of time 😅 Thank you for this fabulous new music ❤❤
Never heard the Last DJ. WOW! So true. I started as an announcer at the age of 17 back in 1989. We were still playing music off reel-to-reel machines and some vinyl. A few years after that automation came in and everything was pre-recorded. Took the live vibe out of it. Radio has never been the same. That song is spot on.
LOVING MUSIC SO VERY, VERY MUCH. I CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT IT AND THANKGOD FOR (ALL) MY MUSICAL ANGELS. "Dreamville" is an ode to Gainesville, FL, where I live and where Tom grew up, until he left for LA and the big time! Lillian's is a 'pick up' bar that's been here for years. I live 10 minutes by car from TP's house. I go sometimes just to park and stare at it in awe. There's a park near it that was renamed :Tom Petty Park" after Tom passed. In this park, Tom, as a kid, met Bernie Leadon, about three years older than Tom, so Bernie could teach him guitar. Bernie went on to be in the Eagles and more. WE MISS TOM HERE IN "DREAMVILLE"!!!
Love Gainesville. I could not believe all the Tom Petty stories I heard when I moved there. People who knew them as kids and of course now massive fans💙🎶💙🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
No band sounds like these guys. They are just on another level where the air is rare. Like a Diamond is just gut wrenchingly sublime here. Astounding ensemble playing all round. Man I love these and miss these guys. It doesn't get any better. Tom and the HBs are timeless in every regard.

This was outstanding! THANK YOU for sharing such a wonderful gift. And Thank you Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers for the many gifts. Thank you Tom Petty a man who had given all of us for 40 years + of your beautiful gifts of amazing music. The reviews about Tom Petty being "a bitter old man" were coming from commentators, that they themselves are the bitter old men. Tom was singing about TRUTH and he was right about the album being HOPEFUL. It always is a hopeful thing, when someone has integrity the likes that Tom Petty had and writes songs of truths. This is one of our biggest problems today, money has become king and we do not hold the golden rules here's 1 "to treat a person the way you would want to be treated". I hope to hear your voice singing your wonderful romantic lyrics on the other side Mr Petty. RIP Tom Petty you Dear Wonderful Man. My deepest condolences to all that were close to you.

Like most of the tpath albums this LAST DJ came out with bad reviews. WHO are these freaks that can not understand brilliance. Well….. tpath always made fools out of the critics. This album got Tom called a grumpy old man. He sure had lots of fun mocking this critique😊 What a gem🎩💔🎶🎶🎸❗️❗️
I'm from Gainesville so i didn't make this California show, but was lucky enough to see Tom 11 times. How awsome and underated Tom and the Heartbreakers are. I feel blessed to have lived during Petty time.
I love what Tom Petty said at the end of this concert I agree 500% with what he says and how important music is to the human soul how music can play to our own human nature and how music can be a positive tool to empower only goodnesses and goodwill. Thank you Tom Petty . 😔♥️✌️...🎸🧚🏻♂️
I have never seen a crowd worked up and going wild like this in a music concert! Especially, at the encore. It's like watching a soccer game and your team winning the final 5-0. It's madness, with viewers screaming at each other unable to believe what they have just witnessed! Damn Heartbreakers! You were the best!
His rebellious CD! lol.. Good on you Tom. You're free.. and missed. I came back to watch and listen again. It really got me thinking, Tom was such a prolific songwriter and most of them I can relate to so much.. like he was writing the songs for me. They touched my heart and soul. He could say so much in so few words. He's sorely missed. Thank you Allyn Kessler for your postings. It's greatly appreciated!
First time I heard Last DJ....don't you know I HAD to have this album. Another cut they did was called "Playing Dumb" ..its a bonus track on the Hypnotic Eye album. Go have a listen. Your jaw will drop. lolllllll
There’s a version they did in 1994 that’s my absolute favorite. It was one of their last performances with Stan as the drummer, and that version blows me away.
,Thank you so much, love this album,I think Tom and the band were playing better with age, sadly miss him,but we have his music forever. God bless and keep. Him.his talent was a gift from God. that's what I've been told for years.that I have god given talent, man ,Tom petty and the Heartbreakers must have been at the front of the queue.R.I.P Tom.you deserve The deepest of cover.x
Looove this album. The Last DJ. One of my favorites.Love how they snuck in a couple oldies but goodies in at the end. Thomas and the Heartbreakers just rock!!!
"Have Love Will Travel" has always been one of my most favorite TP songs. Love the lyrics❤️. Never gets old (none of his songs do!). Just like "Change of Heart" -- man, that was one of their first hits and I love that one sooooo much! Could listen to it on repetitive loop forever.
"When a kid goes bad, something is sad..." speaks for my heart. Thank you Tom et Al. Indeed, more than 95% of children in the USA are neglected and otherwise abused. A staggering number, a terrible problem - a problem in need of attentive recognition intent on creating resolution. May we Americans address our collective lostness and endeavor to do better. As a child who endured severe child abuse from early infancy, I stand now as Mystyk Psychopomp; witness to Reality that the Gods are able to heal a broken body and a broken mind: from Lost to Found.
My favorite Petty album (that I've heard thus far). Makes me miss my dad, who I consider the last DJ. But that's just me. Can't stop the sun from shining.
I really love, love Scott Thurston’s beautiful , harmonious voice.♥️and Steve Feronne you can feel, see and hear the passion in his craft. When you get that side view of only him it’s s really a lovely sight to see. 🎤😎🥁😎....🧚🏻♂️🎸✌️
T. Petty and the Heartbreakers .It was a petty track that I listened to first t hing every day for over a year and a half as I was in one of het majestys re--- habs and that was the online way I could relate to the world early in jthe morning.Thank You Tom, I am still learning to fly !!
Thanks for posting, Allyn Kessler. Tom never failed, afaik, to acknowledge the contributors whether the Heartbreakers individually or this time early on, e.g. arranger "John Brion and his Big Money Orchestra". It reveals one aspect that listeners admired so much about him, the public person that exemplifies real appreciation/love of friends. In the words of Joni Mitchell. "you don't know what you've got..... til it's gone"
Everyone is awe struck, I got chills , the music kept feeling higher and higher I almost didn’t know where to go I can’t imagine being there in person.......magic and perseverance all thx way.♥️🎸😎wow 🧚🏻♂️
At an LA concert for Tom Petty in the early 2000”s,, John Densmore , the drummer of the Doors introduced Jim Ladd before the concert began. Out of all of the FM rock radio stations in LA, Jim Ladd was the only DJ left at that time who could play his own music during his time slot. He thanked Tom Petty for writing the song and acknowledged his status as the lone DJ in LA, then Tom began to play his song.....
Thank you for uploading this video. I enjoyed every minute of it. I was lucky enough to see Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers at Knebworth Festival, Hertfordshire England. RIP Tom.
Oh Tom you Made+ the music that spanned my life. From age 14 to 59 i laughed and cried, danced and loved, hated and waited and now i miss you being here. Nobody plays guitar like Mike Campbell. Thank you, Allyn for posting the video!
Mike never wastes a note when a hole will do.
There went the last dj. The only one that could hold a candle to Bob
One of my favorite Petty songs.
No matter what rabbit hole Utube takes me down, I always end up back at home with TPaTH. Can't thank you enough Allyn!
Thank you tom petty for all the great music you gave to the world, love you
RIP Jim Ladd. Now, you and Tom can rock out through eternity
Your jaw will drop. lolllllll
"Absolutely"
Totally Agree!
...there goes the last human voice..thanks Tom
There's still Ozzy Osbourne...
Tom Petty concert that's awesome! Thank you for sharing this and God bless everyone
Tell me again....how is Mike Campbell NOT on the short list of Best Rock Guitarists in the history of ever??? Because he is indeed on that list.
I HAVE TO AGREE WITH YOU ON THAT. NOT AS FLASHY AS , SAY, SRV OR STEVE VAI, BUT DEFINITLY MORE VERSATILE AND TASTEFUL LEADS !!
When ANYone figures that out, I would like to know as well.
Well one of these best guitar players of all time in my opinion
Mike Campbell is on that list.
Yeah he is top 10 for for sure not many people get into the Heartbreakers enough to realize it
The album that told the truth about the music industry In an artful but honest way. Tom Petty had big juevos. R.I.P. Tom
Best "Mary Jane's Last Dance"'' version ever ! Absolutely terrific !!!
I Agree ~
There’s a version they did in 1994 that’s my absolute favorite. It was one of their last performances with Stan as the drummer, and that version blows me away.

It seems like I've cried a million tears! He was my Hero!
Si many powerful songs. The music is impeccable. Very deep concert and so right on!♥️✌️🧚🏻♂️
Thank you Allyn Kessler!’Dreamville”🥰✌️
"When a kid goes bad, something is sad..." speaks for my heart. Thank you Tom et Al.
Indeed, more than 95% of children in the USA are neglected and otherwise abused. A staggering number, a terrible problem - a problem in need of attentive recognition intent on creating resolution.
May we Americans address our collective lostness and endeavor to do better.
As a child who endured severe child abuse from early infancy, I stand now as Mystyk Psychopomp; witness to Reality that the Gods are able to heal a broken body and a broken mind: from Lost to Found.
Thank you so much Allyn for all you do. I can't thank you enough or pay you back but know you've made many people's days brighter.
My favorite Petty album (that I've heard thus far). Makes me miss my dad, who I consider the last DJ. But that's just me. Can't stop the sun from shining.
Too good it's real! RIP TP ....much Love and Respect - Peace!
Great Petty lyrics, all around great playing. Mike Campbell is excellent as usual, and Scott Thurston proves his worth to the Heartbreakers.
Seems Tom and the Heartbearkers have the largest Fan Club and it's no wonder after years of concerts for their Fans. Love them. Thank you so much!!
Interesting concept and project. Understandably we heard not one note of this from our FM overlords. RIPTP.
this is pure gold... rock´n roll heaven! This album really grew on me recently, strong material, wonderful songs
totally agree. what a great find. thanks to Allyn K!!

Never ever heard TPATH do any cover song that didn't sound almost or even better than the original. That's talent boys n girls.
I want this concert played for my family at my funeral please!! I want to go out in style. Thanks to Tom and The Band.
Amazing solo by Mike in "Around the sun" at about 58.00. One of the best I ever heard.
Tom petty can not be replaced but he sure can be missed and is thank God he has a huge catalogue R I P Tom
I saw hendrix, young, this guy is among the greatest, 👍
Thanks for posting, Allyn Kessler.
Tom never failed, afaik, to acknowledge the contributors whether the Heartbreakers individually or this time early on, e.g. arranger "John Brion and his Big Money Orchestra". It reveals one aspect that listeners admired so much about him, the public person that exemplifies real appreciation/love of friends.
In the words of Joni Mitchell. "you don't know what you've got..... til it's gone"
Supposed to be working can’t stop playing these videos. Love these guys forever❤️
The Last DJ was a fantastic album.
wow what an amazing show!!!!
Everyone is awe struck, I got chills , the music kept feeling higher and higher I almost didn’t know where to go I can’t imagine being there in person.......magic and perseverance all thx way.♥️🎸😎wow 🧚🏻♂️
Agree !!!
Danke für diese GROSSARTIGEN Emotionen
Rest in power Tom Petty and fly with the Angels...Gone but never forgotten!! #RedheadTomPettyhead 🎸🎻🥁🎙🎤🎼🎵🎶🎹🎺🙏💜✌🌠🌚❇🌻
