Amen. OUR STORIES by Lee Roy Riter II Our Stories are written with each passing day. They are shaped and gave meaning by what we do and we say. Each day we are given a page fresh and new. At days end that emptiness was only something you knew. Each night our page is full, and it waits there to turn. To again a blank slate awaiting actions and words. We live and we learn as those pages fly by. Full from memories of good things, but also reasons to cry. What's written some days we should forget then we should shred. There will always be bad things we should regret that we said. Then there is what was wonderful, those good times all of us knew. A call to give thanks my dear Lord for the blessings we knew. One day without notice, our pages, they're none. You'll find He gave choice and it's His will that shall be done. We must hold onto our stories, and proudly soar through the sky. Then hand them to God honoring the lives that went by. You can believe the story is special, it's all about you. In fact it was written by all we say and we do. LRRII
Tom Petty is one of those people that makes you feel like you're a better person because you have the good sense to be a fan of him and his music. There aren't many like that.
I would say to his daughters, I don't think we ever deserved it, but thanks for sharing your dad with us. The flowers look a little brighter and the nights a bit softer.
I’ve never gotten over his passing. The only celebrity that hit me hard with the news, that still hurts today. This is a great documentary. Thank You for making it, whoever you are.
Agreed…. He died WAY too young and in a senseless way. When we’re in physical pain, we want it to stop. I read one of his medical issues was emphysema. Please don’t smoke; that story never ends well. RIP to a Rock ‘n Roll Legend. 🫶
Tom Petty doing solo or playing with the Heart Breakers and Mudcrutch . His music was somehow different . His writing, the way he could do the talk while singing few performers are able to do it. His music went deep into you. When he passed it hurt . It took a long time to not tear up when I heard his music. Miss his Southern drawl . Died too young in my opinion. Screw the saying “The Show Must Go On. “ Could have taken the time to have his hip fixed. He’d still be here. Rest well Tom
This video could have been 19 hours long and I still wouldn't have been bored. Watching a songwriter at the absolute peak of his powers writing the last truly great rock n roll album and doing it with his friends, who also happen to be astonishing talents, is such a privilege.
I could certainly believe it's the last truly great "Rock n roll" album. Music has evolved so much throughout the years, there doesn't even NEED to be another Rock n roll album. This style has already been done by the best, why regress?
@@Xeroforte I think it could be topped. I think it may have been and I haven't heard the album that did. As for "need", there are millions of people who still love the form and, thankfully, more than enough people still writing in it. Commercial need? Maybe not. But art and commerce, though inexorably intertwined, are two different things 🙂
It´s REALLY difficult to watch this with dry eyes. Losing Tom was like losing your oldest friend. His music is the soundtrack to some of the greatest memories of my life and as such it has always been my go-to music when I´m sad.
His music has given me strength and courage. Even sometimes the feeling of comfort to know everything is going to be alright. It is unfortunate how, sometimes mid song, I am brought to tears. There are so many of us fans that will continue to carry on his legacy. ❤
Of all the great artists who left their footprint on the music world, I'm not sure they're missed as much as Tom Petty. Listening to his music soothes my heart and leaves a blanket of calmness over my emotional disarray. The world is a better place because of his music. His American Treasures are a constant companion in my life. I'm so grateful to the Petty family, and the band, for putting this compilation together for the fans. I love, and miss, Tom Petty. 💘 🤘
My thoughts entirely, such a great album. Of all the rock star deaths of the last decade, nothing hurt me so personally quite like Tom Petty passing on.. I shed a tear, and still find it hard to believe he’s not hear anymore. The soundtrack of my life, I came to his party late being only 45 now, grew up with the mtv era free fallin and I won’t back down, wilburys period. But being a musician myself now, and I’m a band currently playing with a member of The Zombies, who I know Tom and the band loved, feel a small connection to him somehow. Never got a chance to see him live either. A true Bonafide Rock legend of the Highest order.
Couldn't have said it any better... & certainly we are not alone in the experience & in expression So miss you Mr Tom Petty 🎸💘🎩 "The song is what it's about".…
How great of the Petty people to release this on RUclips rather than sticking it out on some sort of mega-deluxe box-set. Thank you - you’ve sorted my Saturday evening.
Wonderful documentary of this masterpiece album, an album i bought when i was 22 and loved it to death, and now i'm 52 and i still LOVE it to death. Thanks for this, it's wonderful. I miss Tom Petty every single day, he was a genius.
Tom was one of the last great American rock-n-roll song writers and he is an absolute national treasure. Imagine seeing The Beatles on TV and knowing right then and there that you're gonna do something special and then 30ish years later you've got 2/4 of The Beatles playing in your music video. He was one of those people who was in the right place at the right time and I'm so happy that he gave us such wonderful music and memories.
I've been a fan for 40+ years, first listening to Damn the Torpedoes on vinyl in my dorm room at the University of Tennessee. I taught myself how to play guitar when I was 10, and have incorporated many of Tom's songs into my repertoire. The only time I saw him and the Heartbreakers live was in Raleigh, NC and it was the best concert of my life. When Tom passed, both my children called me to make sure I was okay, knowing how much a part of my life his music was. They had grown up on it, and have both become accomplished musicians, influenced, in large part, by Tom's music. Thank you, Tom, for everything ❤ I feel blessed to have been alive while you were here 🙏 ❤ ✨
@@justincoffey8718 I lived in Hess in 1979, and then moved to Melrose the following year. In fact, at the time I believe all freshmen had to live in Hess for the first year. When I arrived in January of '79 (transferring from ETSU in Johnson City), they didn't have enough rooms for the incoming freshmen, so they put beds in the commons rooms and put us up there. I lived there for the first few weeks with two young ladies who would become my best friends throughout my time at UT. I had a roommate for the first year at Melrose, and then scored a coveted single room until I graduated in 1982. It was tiny, but I loved the privacy and the view. I was right across from the library and could see the stadium from my window. The World's Fair was in Knoxville in 1982, and I could see the nightly fireworks from my window as well.
MAGNIFICO DOCUMENTAL of another GREAT ARTIST of OUR MUSIC. GOD BLESS YOU SISTERS AND BROS, our very LOVED U.S.A and him for so much LOVE, PEACE AND UNIVERSAL BROTHERHOOD. Thanks a lot from Tenerife. Canary Islands. Kingdom of Spain
In college, my roommate exposed me to Damm the Torpedos. I wore out the album. I saw Tom at Universal Amphitheater in LA. One of my favorite memories was Tom seating on a speaker why'll the whole crowd was singing "Breakdown" from beginning to end. The smile on Tom's face was priceless. Tom earned my respect when he fought the record company to reduce the album price. He truly was all about the fans. I saw Tom a few more times over the years. This documentary brings back amazing memories. Thank you.
@@simpsimpson5175 I feel like Tom's songs are more enjoyable than Bob's, I always felt like they were crafted better. Yes, he wasn't much of a songwriting technician, but he was able to say a lot with few words. That's just my opinion though. Most people would probably agree with you.
I didn’t know very much about Tom Petty the man, the musician, but I ALWAYS felt in my heart that he was a very special man. Almost holy judging by the sensitivity of his song writing. His melodic voice, Perfect pitch. I am amazed at the kindness he showed to others and am so sad that he’s gone. He never would’ve wanted to leave the music, the people he loved behind. But he’s gone. I have carved out a special place in my heart that belongs to Tom. And am a fan for life. Thank you for this beautiful portrayal of the genius, Tom Petty.
This movie is almost as beautiful as the Wildflowers album itself. So interesting to experience the collaboration and joy of everyone involved. This was Tom’s masterpiece even though he and his band mates made many more great albums before and after. Thank you to the Heartbreakers, Rick Rubin, and Adria and family for giving us yet another gift. As usual it brings tears to my eyes but it also helps to heal us all after his loss. We love you Tom!!! And oh how the world still misses him……
Great post and feel the same. This was just like visiting an old friend. This was a fabulous doc and Tom appeared happy & healthy throughout the filming, which was a joy to see & hear. Made me realize once again how very much I miss this American treasure.
This was huge for me as a 14 year old but I’m now 43 and going thru a divorce. This album is saving my life! Love all you guys Thanks Tom, Mike, Benmont, Howie, Steve, Scott and Stan
It just guts me whenI think of how much pain he must have been in and still kept performing until his hip finally went from having a crack, to having a break, because disappointing his fans was worse, to him. All you have to do is pull up any concert footage and see how much the fans loved him and how he genuinely was touched and... Humbled... By the affection. Then he'd just become the guy on stage performing to 20k of his closest friends, telling jokes and being on fire all night. He left it all out there, I don't think he ever held anything back. Performing while injured, and no one knew. I don't think it was possible for him to pull back and give it 70%, he couldn't give less than 💯. I so love Wildflowers and Everything After. Talk about a love letter to the fans. I got to see him in concert twice, but that is not MY most treasured memory of him. (no. I never met him) When I moved from Utah to CT. I knew 2 people. I had my dog, Ashley, (center of my universe from puppy-hood, 🖤 Collie/ G Shep mix) my prized 5 disc changer stereo (the first item I bought because I wanted and I could afford it, and the music was all from a used cd exchange I worked next door to.) I was done with college, working, no debt, but living paycheck to paycheck. I just NEEDED a dramatic change, and I seized my moment. Anyway it was us, my music, my air mattress, some clothes & my car. I arrived at the end of a 5 day drive (I lost my debit card on day 3 and had to panic and fix that on day 4.) and met my friend/ new boss at about 8 pm 12/31/98. We celebrated the new year, my new life with new friends, and THEN my friend told me the apt we'd arranged had fallen through at the last moment, but she would find somewhere to live, DON'T PANIC. I've never sobered up so quickly in my life. I'm pretty high strung, panic is pretty much my resting state. I wake up every morning with my jaw and fists clenched. Kind of a full body clench. Now elevate that and keep it there 2 months. I did end up about 45 minutes away, staying with a COMPLETE stranger who was the ex- husband of my direct supervisor. Super nice guy to whom I'm grateful, but it was mortifying. To make it more awkward, it was his 5yo son's room, so I was sleeping in his Corvette bed. At least the kid had TV and cable, so the 5 yo had me beat. Ashley was a champ, best dog ever. I lied and told myself parents I couldn't afford a phone line yet so I'd just check in with them Once a week. I think I was 26, but if they knew my living situation, I had no doubt my dad would show up to drag me home. I'm 49, now, so it is probably safe to tell them. It took 2 months but the most perfect place kind of feel into my lap when the electrician at work heard about my situation, and being a sweet, elderly gentleman made me a sweetheart deal. It was close to work, we had a deck, nice little apt. The first night I saw fire flies for the first time and we ran out to the greenest yard and I was alone and I took my first breath in 2 months. This huge weight just lifted off my back. I hooked up the stereo, loaded up Full Moon Fever, cranked it to 11, and Ashley and I sang and danced to The Apartment Song on repeat for about 30 minutes before moving on to the rest of the music, inflated my bed and crashed. I have such a clear memory of that night and I spent it with my Ashley, and Tom Petty. No one else on the planet knew where I was, and I mean WHERE on so many levels. I was not lonely, and I wasn't someone's burden and it was a perfect day, without a tv or furniture or a toaster.. I know, dumb and long, but it is my best Tom Petty memory.
Cool story ..... I can relate to the starting over and also have a BFF....Takoda, my little black lab, Tom Petty is my go to for any panic attack or mood changing issues. ❤✌
When I first arrived in the USA in the fall of 1994 my life felt like it was full of uncertainty and homesickness. I listened to this album hundreds, perhaps thousands, of times and it gave me such comfort. My life path never lined up with being able to see him live until his very last show at the Hollywood Bowl and I feel so fortunate that I got to see him live at least just one time.
I feel lucky to see Tom Petty live back in the 90s. When he opened with “ this concert is not brought to you by Doritos , coke ,Pepsi It’s brought to you by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. He never caved in to corporate BS and I was hooked for life.
I seen this whole documentary on Tom's birthday last year what a cool thing to win tickets to see this. It meant the world to me. One because I'm a huge petty fan 🥰And two because I miss him so so much 😇😍😎💕💞❤
This brought me so much, and brought me to tears, all over again. Miss and love you Tom, you raised me and you saved me, be at peace, you are so loved. ❤️
I've been still missing Tom Petty, Roy Orbison and George Harrison.too much. I felt lucky everytime to meet Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers and Traveling Wilburys when i was a little child.. R.I.P. Tom, Roy and George..
Thanks for making this and for posting it for all of us who loved Tom and the Heartbreakers music. Wildflowers is still so good to hear on my road trips to town of 80 miles in west Tx. Wake up time is a perfect ending on the cd.
This album is my favorite album of all time. It has helped me through some very difficult times. It's also brought tremendous joy, happiness, and perspective.
Tom changed my life forever. His music honestly saved me in some way, I’ll forever be grateful to him. I’m only 20 but I’ll make sure this next generation knows about him.
I loved this documentary! You hear people say how certain artists sing the soundtracks of their lives. Tom Petty did that time and time again! It's crazy how personal his songs feel to so many!!!
"Wildflowers" is one of the best albums of all time. No doubt about that. And of course it's my favorite of Tom along with "Echo", another absolute masterpiece of this amazing and truly missed talent called Tom Petty.
Tom was a legend.A genuinely good guy, amazing song writer and an awesome singer. He will always be loved and missed ,but his music will never die.R.I.P Tom Petty.
He was so likeable and his fans always came first. He was very humble just loved his life as a musician. He once said I couldn't think of anything I would rather do than play music. Franco.
He truly was a legend of rock n roll. It's a shame this Rick Rubin came in a changed his sound. He was acting like he helped mold tom petty but every album before Rubin got involved with him was a hit. How many hits were made after Rubin came around? Not as many if any . Goes to show you what the industry can do to someones personal sound. He should have steered clear of him and he would probably still be here rocking us . Rip Tom
This album got me through my teenage private school years the time it came out. Being in a different country and away from my abusive home, I had a bit of a breakdown. Realizing and being flooded of memories of abuse. This album never left my CD player or my mind. It got me through every second of the day I was conscious, and played all night in my sleep. Best album ever made period for me! And that is saying a lot! I have a 4 yr old boy now who is on the spectrum and he loves this album. I was also recently diagnosed as well. Watching this amazing footage had me in tears the whole time and still does. Now 43, Tom is helping me navigate my whole life and how resilient i was without even knowing it. Tom is MAGIC! I MISS YOU TOM! THANK YOU!
I have learned about cluater b dosorders and for myself i have often seen that those with rhe specteum end being abused especially the very serious mental health illness bordetline perrsonality disorder which Pettys first wife i woild suspect falls into bpd I have also felt Tom had alot of apectrum himself aa i can relate to you also Best of luck man
Norman, I appreciate your comment. I hope you and yours are thriving in love today. Music is a healing balm for sure. Ryan yes, I think abusers sense who they can exploit. We gotta look out for each other. Take care.
I don’t know why I miss this man so much or why he means so much to me. He’s clearly a great songwriter and musician but I feel like he’s a friend that I lost. Thanks for making this available on youtube. Wishing all y’all the best. If you’re reading this comment, go make art. Write a poem, make up a song, or draw something. Art is where you can feel free and a tool to connect with your soul. Don’t worry if it’s good or not. Just do it. Then do it again. Peace.
Your description of not knowing you'd miss him like you do is THE most common refrain that I hear when chatting w petty fans. I too was much more deeply moved that I ever could've imagined, he was such a mainstay, so quietly effective. That ability to reach ppl, on that level...that's magic. ❤
The song Wild Flowers brings me to tears evertime I listen to him sing his beautiful song. I miss him and I'm still heartbroken that he's no longer here. I'm extremely grateful that he shared his incredibly beautiful, mind blowing music and lyrics with the universe. His lyrics touch my heart and soul. I cried and cried when I heard he left this world and couldn't stop thinking about his children and wife. I never thought he'd be gone. I always said as soon as he comes back to this area or near I'll be there. I just never thought he'd be gone. Thank you for sharing your music with us. I love and miss you. Your heart and soul is beautiful. Thank you Tom Petty for making this world a better place and making it bearable too.
For 90 minutes I felt like we had Tom back, in his prime and at the top of his game artistically. No doubt this has been cathartic for his band, friends, family and certainly his fans. If Dylan won a Nobel this deserves the Pulitzer!
Thank you, You Tube for putting this super special of the legend Tom Petty on for free. This film was outstanding and really showed the love Tom had for making songs so artfully. There will never be an nother band like Tom Petty and The heartbreaker's.
@@mirage69 Why? They deserve to make money from it. They chose not to monetise it in a way that we actually had to pay out of our pockets. I'm grateful for that and happy to deal with the adds.
Anybody else tearing up! 😢 What a BEAUTIFUL documentary!! Couldn't have watched it without you TOM ! ❤✌❤✌❤✌❤ Brought back so many beautiful memories !! 💕
Amazing album, and great documentary. It's hard to pick the best song but Crawling Back To You with "Most things I worry about, never happen anyway" is one of my favourite lines
I only got to see Tom once in my life, it was in Saratoga Springs NY and the tickets were from one of my daughter's. It was the best night of my life except the births of my children. Did he truly know what he meant to us ? Was he aware how included in our daily lives. He gave me much in my life and at times he saved my life. There will never be a replacement in my heart. ❤
Just saw the Heartbreakers Beach Party a couple of weeks ago on TP’s birthday and I’ve gone down a rabbit hole reading and listening to everything about him. Just so laden with talent. He was an astounding songwriter.
I feel so blessed that I was alive on this earth the same time he was. Miss this man!!! Thank you for leaving so many beautiful treasures and memories for your fans, friends and family!!
It’s so cool to read all the comments and what ages people were when this came out and what it meant to them. For me, it’s interesting to see this album preceded Tom’s divorce, because this was the album that carried me through my parent’s divorce when I was a teen. It holds a really special place in my heart.
I thought I was past it all…turns out, I’d just pushed it down. Fact is, I may never get through it. Tom was so interwoven in our lives that we really didn’t know what we had until we didn’t. I still break down…sure do miss him. He was a rare talent and artist in every since of the word.
I received "Wildflowers" for my 14th birthday (a month after it's release) and every couple of years I'll go back to listening to it for months at a time. I don't know why but I always felt like this album was just my quiet little secret, that I loved it alone and that it wasn't that well known. Maybe it was just the feeling that that 14 year old kid knew this album was incredible but my peers at the time didn't know (or that I simply never asked anyone else about it). I'm just glad to read everyone's words about what this album meant to them (as well as what Tom meant to them), and knowing that we're all together even if we're not together.
This was a great documentary. It’s great that it captured Tom’s humanity, his love for music, friends, and family. To see him ask himself the question we all ask, “Who am I?” To see how his journey to seek himself resulted in such great music is beautiful.
I could listen to him talk all day. His voice is so soothing. Miss him. Tom and the Heartbreakers were my first concert back in 2002. Still wear the shirt! Never missed a show when he was in Pittsburgh Live Anthology Vol 2 please!!!
Honestly didn't know much about Tom Petty and this randomly came up on my algorithm. He seemed such a down to earth guy, I've added wildflowers to my Amazon music and will listen to it later. 👌
the last time i cried was 10-2-2017 the night he left us!! what an impact he had on my life!! saw him 22x!!! i remember when i got home from work, i lit a candle and put on "hard promises' and full moon fever" and just sat there, couldnt believe it!! i never heard a tom petty song, i could only listen to it!! i can play about 30 of his magical songs on my guitar!! i wish i could thank him for the magic!! i was more than a fan, more like obsessed!!! and i have my heartbreakers logo tatooed on my arm!!! the flying v through a heart! i love you tom!! forever!! see you in the next life! thank you for being in my life time!
I never had the best relationship with my father, but one thing that I got from him is his love for Tom Petty's music. I can't hear a song of his without thinking of my Dad. Tom Petty definitely opened his heart with this album and it went Triple Platinum because of how well it resonated with so many listeners. He is truly missed.
One of many American Girls happy to get this notification. Also, American Girl was released in 1976. I know it didn't really chart until the 90's, and I think this song is so timeless, you could play it in some college bar and no one would be thinking, "bruh who's playing the oldies 70's rock?"
He’s in mine and he’s my bff’s favorite and she got me hooked on his Wallflowers compilation! She even got to see him in concert once…💯💛⭐️⭐️💫🕯🎸🎸🎸🪕🎹🎷🎤🎤🎼🎼🎺🎻🥁🥁🎧
Can't wait! It's always comforting & uplifting to just sit and listen to the man talk & play, etc. That's rare with artists. Their togetherness as a group was also something truly unique. We humans need as many reminders as possible of that sort of unity.
Tom's music will never leave me. I discovered his songs at the age of 13 or 14 in the early eighties, and ever since came back to listen to certain songs and albums. Wildflowers is one of those and this is a great movie about a great musician and masterpiece.
He died October 2, 2017. He died because of accidental prescribed drug overdose, he was on different pain meds due to a broken hip, it caused cardiac arrest.
Such a huge thing to watch! So much in here. The songs obviously, the people, the stories and the insights. So glad it’s available for multiple occasions. Time has started to dull the pain but will never eclipse this man’s enormous talent and worth.
So rare to get a glimpse of a guy like Tom at his most vulnerable times. This might just be the single definitive piece of video that explains who Tom was and what the music meant...
I’ve loved him since I was 16… still do more than ever now thru the yrs. at 61. I’ve made women smitten by quoting & singing his lyrics to them to make them realize how special he is. I converted a headbanger into Tom Petty… she stole my Wildflowers album when we departed after 13 yrs. together. I take that as a compliment & a tribute to me and that wonderful man. ❤ WAG 💙
This was so beautiful. I was left in tears, they did such an amazing job on this. I love you and I miss you Tom Petty. I’m so glad they were able to make his wish come true. Rest easy and keep on rocking ❤️❤️
I remember so well in '94. And I also remember crying my eyes out with "Wake up time" (Many times). Wonderful, heart-touching music, full of beauty. Wildflowers unforgotten. This kind of music, this crazy world desperately needs. RIP, Tom
R.I.P. Howie!! ❤️ You contributed greatly to the album Wildflowers 🎸 I remember your contribution and talent, even if the makers of this documentary didn’t. 😢
"Wildflowers" was and is still my favorite album. Tom Petty's such a prolific songwriter. My marriage was falling apart too when this came album came out. I listened to this CD as I packed up my life and left Florida to head back to the Texas gulf coast.

Tom Petty is a rare talent. There are a lot of great songwriters, singers and musicians out there. I have SiriusXM for only one reason. The Tom Petty Channel. If they ever drop it, I'm dropping them. I was a fan from 1978, the first time I heard Refugee play on the radio. I didn't get to see him in concert when he came to town because there was always a family function or work or whatever to attend, until he came to Pittsburgh in 2017. My girlfriend knew how much I liked and admired him and got Tickets as an early birthday gift to me. Joe Walsh was the opening band! I'm a big fan of his too. Needless to say it was the best concert I have ever seen. Every song from the beginning of Joe's set to the last encore from TP and HB was out of a pleasant memory of growing into adulthood. It really broke my heart when he passed 3 months later. RIP Tom, we still love your music and always will.
One of the GREATEST BANDS EVER ❤️⭐️ and one of the GREATEST SONGWRITERS EVER ⭐️🌞❤️ Tom left a BIG HOLE in music when he passed 💔
Most definitely, such a great song writer, I really miss him still🥹.

OUR STORIES by Lee Roy Riter II
Our Stories are written with each passing day.

His music has given me strength and courage. Even sometimes the feeling of comfort to know everything is going to be alright. It is unfortunate how, sometimes mid song, I am brought to tears. There are so many of us fans that will continue to carry on his legacy. ❤
The guy had more hits than most people realize... like the freaking Beatles! he's forever missed. love Tom Petty
I feel this in my soul
Townes gets me also
Couldn't have said it any better...
& certainly we are not alone in the experience & in expression
So miss you Mr Tom Petty 🎸💘🎩
"The song is what it's about".…
Yes crazy still grieving his loss
How great of the Petty people to release this on RUclips rather than sticking it out on some sort of mega-deluxe box-set. Thank you - you’ve sorted my Saturday evening.
I was just thinking the same. It says so much about him and the or he surrounded himself with that they've made this accessible.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
He went against the record companies in the 70s because they wanted to raise the price of records. Totally in line with his whole attitude awesome
@@sjboofness I agree - by the way you doing better I hope ?!
Absolutely. I certainly appreciate it ❤️ Shuch a terrible loss.
He was one of those people who was in the right place at the right time and I'm so happy that he gave us such wonderful music and memories.
when you talk about American bands they are there front and centre..sorry center with about 4 or 5 others then a huge drop off
Such a great doc about one of the greatest songwriters in recorded history
I've been a fan for 40+ years, first listening to Damn the Torpedoes on vinyl in my dorm room at the University of Tennessee. I taught myself how to play guitar when I was 10, and have incorporated many of Tom's songs into my repertoire. The only time I saw him and the Heartbreakers live was in Raleigh, NC and it was the best concert of my life.
When Tom passed, both my children called me to make sure I was okay, knowing how much a part of my life his music was. They had grown up on it, and have both become accomplished musicians, influenced, in large part, by Tom's music.
Thank you, Tom, for everything ❤ I feel blessed to have been alive while you were here 🙏 ❤ ✨
Same for me but at MTSU...
Which dorm did you live in? I lived in Hess in 1996 and 1997.
Great to hear another UT alum appreciates TP. Go vols! John Kingsport. TN
Thank you.
Tom Petty for me is the greatest American song writer ever. The soundtrack to my life.
except for Bob Dylan..and Richard rodgers and oscar hammerstein.

We are never gone he’s playing in the great gig in the sky now
This movie is almost as beautiful as the Wildflowers album itself. And oh how the world still misses him……
I miss TOM so much, No one will ever touch my
Great post and feel the same. This was just like visiting an old friend. This was a fabulous doc and Tom appeared happy & healthy throughout the filming, which was a joy to see & hear. Made me realize once again how very much I miss this American treasure.
You will always Rock Tom Petty
This was huge for me as a 14 year old but I’m now 43 and going thru a divorce. This album is saving my life!
Love all you guys
Thanks Tom, Mike, Benmont, Howie, Steve, Scott and Stan
…My answer to my divorce at 27 years old, was to accept Jesus Christ and read the Bible cover to cover for the first time
It just guts me whenI think of how much pain he must have been in and still kept performing until his hip finally went from having a crack, to having a break, because disappointing his fans was worse, to him.
(no. I never met him)
When I moved from Utah to CT.
Thanks for revealing it. I'm sure Tom is honored to know he held up your soul at times of hardship.
Cool story .....
I can relate to the starting over and also have a BFF....Takoda, my little black lab, Tom Petty is my go to for any panic attack or mood changing issues. ❤✌

Great story ✌️
I’m honored to witness this journey. Thanks for all the music and inspiration ❤ Rest in Peace Tom Petty
Just recently became a full fledged Tom Petty fan, and this completely made my day. Thanks youtube!
I feel lucky to see Tom Petty live back in the 90s. When he opened with “ this concert is not brought to you by Doritos , coke ,Pepsi
It’s brought to you by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. He never caved in to corporate BS and I was hooked for life.
Same here, SPAC, 1994
I remember this. I just loved the attitude, that enough can be enough, and you don't sell your soul.

Rip Tom
What I love most is that in Tom seeking a solo project that diverged from a band record, he found his brothers were willing to back him on his journey
Hello
This album got me through my teenage private school years the time it came out. Being in a different country and away from my abusive home, I had a bit of a breakdown. Realizing and being flooded of memories of abuse. This album never left my CD player or my mind. It got me through every second of the day I was conscious, and played all night in my sleep.
Best album ever made period for me! And that is saying a lot! I have a 4 yr old boy now who is on the spectrum and he loves this album. I was also recently diagnosed as well.

I remember so well in '94. And I also remember crying my eyes out with "Wake up time" (Many times). Wonderful, heart-touching music, full of beauty. Wildflowers unforgotten. This kind of music, this crazy world desperately needs. RIP, Tom
This was fantastic in so many ways. Brought tears to my eyes multiple times. Thank you to all who made this happen. Petty is an American treasure.
Wow this is a blessing we are all grateful, thanks!
R.I.P. Howie!! ❤️
You contributed greatly to the album Wildflowers 🎸
I remember your contribution and talent, even if the makers of this documentary didn’t.

Absolutely amazing. I hope you’re smiling today Tom.
