Atlas has one of the best features out there. CREATES A RANDOM KIT WITH THE CLICK OF A BUTTON. It eliminates the entire, time consuming process of going snare by snare, kit by kit. It became one of the starting points in my personal template.
XO has an amazing beat&sound editing interface as well so the presets arent just presets you can edit them or create new ones. It was just in the edit tab. You actually can create quite complex patterns and even edit the sounds youd picked with fxs filters etc its amazing. its actually such a underrated software that im always surprised that no ones talking about it
Good initial presentation. There's a world more in XO that you didn't even scratch. So much more. Nonetheless, good intro to the comparison. You should make a part 2.
I was really set on atlas 2 but I wanted to make sure I was getting the best plugin overall. I even tested out both of them, and I felt like atlas 2 is more for the common enjoyer of a music fan. While XO felt more professional and geared towards producers. With all the research I’ve done XO is the better plugin, personally. But I still loved atlas 2 for its bright colors and the random generator, it felt so lively while XO looks dead lol.
Thanks for the good video. I didn't know about Atlas. Yours is the best XO video I've seen so far: you showed more features, and that makes me more interested in purchasing. Cheers!
@@producedbyscott8317 Yeah I love it. It's become like my little OP-1 in the sense that I can make a simple beat or miniature song idea whenever I want, without having to open up my DAW. It's a whole load of fun.
@@producedbyscott8317 I ended up getting atlas. Super psyched. Love the randomization and ease of use. It's simple but powerful so it fit my workflow perfectly. Apparently a new version is around the corner that could add a bunch of features.
Great comparison! Is XO limited to 8 lanes, while Atlas starts with 4x4 grid up to 8x8? It looks like neither have a mixer? Not a deal breaker for me as I prefer to mix in my DAW. The cloud or bubble browser and kit maker are cool concepts. I was using ADSR Sample Manger (free) and probably will continue as more than 40% of my samples are non-drum, but 60% are and either XO or Atlas 2 would be awesome. 😀
While I really dig XO's sophisticated search functions, like "Drumminess" ratios, and convenient Export options, I'm leaning toward Atlas, because it's 8x8, has a better sequencer (imo), handles MIDI import/export (as opposed to audio) fairly intuitively, and the biggest pro for me: doesn't require me to buy yet another sample library. The last thing I need is more samples. If XO provided it's library functions without the sample library, I could imagine using it...it's Drumminess algorithm alone is worth $$.
@@thomaslinder6299 Thx! I recently bought XO but I’m going to try the Atlas 2 trial. I own about 7 drum software applications and have trials or free versions of 8 more = total 15. I appreciate your honesty. I find all drum software sequencers inferior to the sequencer/step editor in my DAW. Multiple producers have told my they start with the drum seq to develop beats, then drag the midi into their DAW for further editing and control, often with multiple tracks/instances of the same drum app. In 1 case I noticed the sequencer in DrumComputer by Sugar Bytes seems really good, but it’s a drum synth not a drum sampler. I considered using DrumComputer, exporting the midi to execute XO samples… “what am I doing?” Crazy! Perhaps no 1 app does everything for everybody.
I'm liking Atlas 2 way better than XO. This video compared Atlas 1, but Atlas 2 is far better and has capabilities XO is missing, especially in the sequencer.
Oscar Roberto Brouwer yes you can totally deselect XO’ core content and even add third party packs and it will do the rest. You can achieve this at the option window on the top right of the GUI.
currently testing atlas 2. but the most important feature is missing. being able to search for your samples. i really don't care much about the map i just want a quick way to search through my library. am i missing something?

Music sounds good and was easy enough direction to follow
Atlas 2 is out now, it has a step sequencer too, much more flexible than XO I think.

Sanjay C here on YT is also an XO true believer. He uses it all the time.

It all depends. I decided to go for both. Both platforms enhances the workflow speed in which ever DAW you work in.

good explanation and straight to the point. not the boring ones
Thanks man, I do my best
Great tutorial man. I love xo demoed it 3 times. Need to get it next time its on sell

Just giving you an additional notif that it’s on sale now
Yea it's worth it

Cheers, got XO and love it.
Welcome, enjoy!
Excellent video. In depth review and straight to the point. Subscribed.
Thank you
Hey, beautiful review. Great work.
yup best xo vid ive seen thank you
Now do Atlas 2!
Great video! To the point and answered all questions I had about both. Subbed.
Atlas is light years beyond XO.
BlackFriday XO!!
I own both and hands down XO is better, especially for programming beats.
Great video, much appreciated
Happy to help

I use XO al the time, with my daw as sequencer
great review, thanks!
Atlas can do polyrhythms
Does anyone know how t minus gets the space map on XO in the corner of his daw and just drags them in?
learned a cool trick other tutorials didnt include. heres a t humbs! keep at it!
is there a way to deselect the core content from the space view?

Use Cosmos
@@Ahmad-lc1ln thx for the heads up. will check it out . still haven't settled on a specific manager.
Can I grab my personal .wav samples from directly within the browser in Atlas?
Atlas just came out with 2.0
Altas 2.0
bro you have your samples divided by year, thats crazy. idek why you'd do that.
Thank you for the vídeo!
Try Sononym
Which one has better performance? Im not looking for something with the most features but just the one that runs well and doesnt feel slow
Pretty comparable. Atlas is simpler, so my guess is it would run a bit smoother, but I haven't really noticed a difference on my system.
Nice video!!!
Thanks!
Cant u make separate channels for bass snare etc so that we can mix them individually
you can see it in the video exporting each part as stem ... :-)
what DAW are you using?
ableton live
Algonaut made it first, XLN made it better.
agreed
true
These videos age and mislead as the softwares update. Continue to dominate with updated videos as each software integrates new features.
Xo
You haven’t even shown the sequencers in either of these plugins. Or anything else about them other than choosing sounds ! C’mon
them monitors are WAAAAAY to big for your room. Bigger is not always better
