Wow I’m so glad this video exists, I have felt this way for so long! I have great rhythm when I dance and when I groove to a drum track but the continuous clicking of the metronome drives me CRAZY and I can’t even focus on being in time because the robotic clicking is grating to my ears. It takes me out of the zone and I can’t even play at all and have to try again. It’s alienating. People who I know that make music have differently wired brains and insist “stop complaining & resisting and just do it.” But playing to the metronome comes more naturally to them bc they have a very explicit music learning foundation meanwhile I am an implicit learner of music, i play by ear and am multinstrumental so instead I just use a one of a bunch of corny rhythm tracks on my Casio keyboard hahaha. It literally instantly gets me into the groove.
