you don't use the usb C cable to wire this in, you use the two screws and a transformer that is running to your existing doorbell for that off the existing doorbell wires you obviously have beside your door. super easy to do since they have the wires with easy quick connects also in the box.

I got the Nest doorbell for my apartment as I've had parcels not been delivered or missed deliveries, and more recently neighbours behaving rather sketchy outside my door. I got a no-drill mount from Wasserstein to adhere to my door and used the Nest wedge for greater viewing angle. Honestly, it's been great to have but I have noticed it doesn't recognise my face all that often even when I have added my face to the library. Battery life for me has lasted two and a half months so far with an expected recharge in a few weeks, that is solely living on the third floor and having two neighbouring apartments. One thing that does annoy me, and it's not a Nest problem, it's how I've had more people still knock on my door than use the doorbell. I've wanted a doorbell to hear folk but some folk are just too good at seeing they're blind.

It doesn't look like a normal thing people know to use as a doorbell, and even then people usually feel afraid to push doorbells anyways

I have the first gen wired Nest and this was by no means an upgrade, so I never switched to it. I am excited to see what the new wired nest doorbell will offer.

I don’t think it’s meant to be an upgrade. They still sold the Nest Hello up until the 2nd Gen Nest Doorbell (wired).
But it was meant to be a competitor to Ring which can be wireless or wired. Whereas the Nest Hello has to be hardwired.

The delays between the doorbell being pressed and the alert can be very annoying. Can I expect Matter to help in this regard?

Mine is near instant since I put a WiFi booster on the other side of the door.

Really, charging every 3 weeks? I have it, but for me it come to 3-4 days :/
Besides this, a hint about the recording storage in cloud. You can try the nest service for 1 month for free. And apparently you can start again the trial after it expired. You lose 1 month of recording with the expiration, however it is still a good improvement compared to the 3h without a subscription. So far I renewed the trial 4 times 👀

I have the Google Nest battery doorbell and, as of Nov 2023, there is a major bug where audio from the doorbell is sent to the headphone output rather than the speaker output on Android devices, meaning I can't hear the person at the door on my phone without plugging in headphones. This is happening on both my wife's and my Samsung phones and on my Chromebook, using the Google Home app.

Bought this one because the older version ruclips.net/user/postUgkx0jZ_lGlDVJhDnmagEU8gn47cmfPNlLQ had was really choppy and would disconnect from the wifi ALOT, was not catching everything and every week j had to charge it. So far the picture quality on this one is exceptional. I also bought a solar panel with it so I will see how this all turns out.

I still miss calls as the notifications to my phone are lame. I want my phone to ring like if it's a phone call but all you get is a little crappy ping. Is there a way to make it ring louder and longer?

As always an up to date and informative video though I have recently bought the Blink wireless doorbell which I have found to be quite capable and a very reasonable price from Argos.
Have watched most of your Google and Android based videos since puchasing my forst Pixel phone the 3 model and now eagerly await the 7 review and the Pixel watch review as I may upgrade from my Ticwatch Pro 4G LTE, again bought on the strength of your reviews.
I have to say my Blink set up with the Sync Module seems far superior to the device details and functions you have spoken of here as I can store/save every capture and set the parameters to suit so that it is not triggered too often. The subject lighting on the Blink seems better and there is no subscription to be had here in the UK but with the Sync module, non needed and also the Sync module memory is expandable with the addition of a memory stick and then downloadable at will to a PC or other USB device. My battery version runs on AA batteries and the projected life is a year of use. Try one, and give us your opinion.
As my Dad would have said 'What's that caterpillar in your top lip?' - It's not Movember yet. Still your content always worth watching and absobing the knowledge. Many thanks

This was not the doorbell for me. I live in the US Northeast and last winter, this battery was wired but didn't charge the battery. It went off-line. CS told me to bring it inside, warm up the battery and charge it before installing it outside again....What? I'm using Nest 1st Gen now.

So do you install it NEXT to your existing doorbell or do you remove your actual doorbell and install this on the wall over the cavity where the wires come out?

After buying the nest doorbell I found out that it has compatibility issues with the audio on certain Samsung devices particularly flagship devices, the audio comes out of the the earpiece when viewing video so you can't hear anything and when you press to talk nothing comes out and no one can hear anything. I contacted Google tech support they told me " they are aware of the issue with certain Samsung devices but it's function in the way that it was supposed to it's only Samsung that has problems and no fixer coming for it" so basically it's Samsung's problem nothing to do with us. I don't understand how they can sell this knowingly that it has a problem. So just be warned when buying this door if you have any of the problems above return it within the 14 days.

Samsung and Google are both infuriating in this way they both blame each other & nothing gets fixed. Samsung has a habit of modifying Android in ways google never intended for no good reason which causes a lot of headaches for app developers

Got one today. Fine for one person and one phone, but no matter what I try, I cannot add this camera to my wife's phone. Both are Pixels and both see other Nest devices. If I cannot get this to talk to my wife's Pixel as well, I'll return it.

I purchased the first gen (wired) when the 2nd gen came out at closeout prices. Best smart cam decision I made because after reading the feature and specs list of the 2nd gen, it was clearly a downgrade.

The delay between the button being pressed and me getting notified is a joke. Most of the time the person has already left by the time i get the notification on my pixel 6 pro. Ring doorbell worked perfectly before i switched!!! also the at a glance widget only works when it wants to not all the time. Rubbish doorbell

As someone that has two of these, these are the worst products ever as if you want to miss everything this is a perfect product for it and they're also easy to steal. That's my experience with this crappy product. Get a wired doorbell camera with 24/7 recording as clip recording is absolutely useless.
