I can guarantee, where you see the most people watching... there's a pub nearby!
Hey, if you're gonna be stuck there all day, you might as well make the most of it!!!
This used to be me on way home from Mc Donald's drive thru. Can't be havin cold fries 😂
They come out the window half cold never mind driving fast home they'd be cold in ur parking spot 100yds from the kip
My fries have never made it home, just the empty carton.
@@tommykarate5126 truth
There's a brilliant clip of one of his earlier attempts a few years prior to this one. He's got a journalist along for the ride and nearly bins it at the bottom of Bray Hill. The car is sliding down the road at over 100mph and Higgins is going lock-to-lock to try and control it. He just says to the reporter 'are you ok?' and then gets the car pinned again. Bet the reporter wasn't keen to get back in for a 2nd lap!!!!
You should see the crowd's on the 70s, 80s and 90s rally stages. Was absolutely mental!
You'd think everyone had a death wish in them days or wanted to die lol they were crazy!
such as the famous vid of the audi quattro rally car through the crowds from the 80's
Even when it is not race season, once you are outside urban areas, there are no speed limits. It's one of the defining things of the Isle of Man.
Thank you for mentioning "The Orange Army", the volunteer Marshals who ensure racers and spectators have an enjoyable experience on race days around the TT course. Without Marshals, we can't go racing.
I've watched a few of your videos now and the level of considered and knowledgeable thought you respond with is clear every time. You got a good brain on you man.
Get yourself to the TT you won't regret it, i'll be back there as soons as life allows. Nothing compares 👍🏼
Sébastien Loeb's Record Setting Pikes Peak Run - Look that up. It's a rally car on steroids, the run and the sound of the car is absolutely amazing to watch.
Suzuki V6 ESCUDO Pikes Peak Special '98
Great Reaction site. Try reacting to this. Fred Dibnah unfortunately dead now was one of the last old-style SteepleJacks to work in the UK. He was seen as a 'National treasure' and well before Health and Safety. A real man!
The 'olden day Guy Martin' i believe he's called...🙈😂
Fred was a real mans mans for sure, no messing around👍
It's the other way round.. Guy Martin is the modern dibna.. Fred was such a character. Knowledgeable and luved what he did... Watched him as a kid.. Health n safety.. Pay attention.. Or its your own fault lol
@@richardpaterson5498 yeah... It was just a joke😅
@@CyrusGris I get it now... If only the two had met.. Would be like Indian Jones and his father 😂
Many thanks for posting this, I hadn't seen it before. Great to watch.
1988. Tony Pond setting the fastest production car time on the IOM TT course. He managed 37.73 miles in 22min 44 seconds. An average speed of 99.58 mph for the whole course in a standard Rover 800 Fastback Vitesse - just with racing tyres. ruclips.net/video/GeIfgNUDG1k/видео.html
The cars don't race this Course. This is a record attempt Mark has made 3 different years. They only have 1 or 2 opportunities to go out and adjust set up and 2 runs over 2 different days. He is an ex-British Rally Champion and is from the IOM so is very familiar with the Mountain Course
For those that don't know about Mark Higgins, he's a former British rally Champion, he's a ManxMan by birth l, he's worked on films such as James Bond as a stunt driver, he owns a really school in mid Wales. There's a video from an earlier run where he nearly lost the car after a couple of miles there's also a video of him doing a stage on the Manx Rally without his Co driver reading the pace notes
By fly, think he means fly like Peter Dumbreck at the '99 Le Mans race.
You should deffo have a look at some rally stuff, the group B cars were mental (and lethal).
And with Group B, it was the crowds that were mental!
Mercedes pulled out that year after that take off, if I remember rightly !
You should watch James May doing the TT on a bike made from mecano, the slowest lap ever
Isle of Man and British road racing, nothing comes close.Great Reaction.
Generally it's not dashed lines that look solid due to the speed, they are actual solid lines. The TT course is over normal public roads, and solid lines are used in the UK to denote places on the road where you are not allowed to overtake or cross the line. They are usually on bends, or blind summits/dips i.e areas where is it unsafe because you cannot see oncoming traffic. You can overtake where the lines are dashed (if it's safe to do so)
Surprised he missed that, as they use very similar markings in the US. The main difference is that the US markings are yellow. (Actually, now I write that, I wonder if it's a state-level thing but...)
Loving your videos man!!
Great reaction as always brother
Yeah we look forward to the TT. We get a full week off work to go and watch it.
Not into the whole reaction thing but I do enjoy watching your vids that's why I've subbed, nice guy👍
This was not the 1st run by subaru, the 1st run was in 2011 by Mark Higgins and they slightly miscalculated on how rough the road is and nearly lost it after a mile. Mark does some astounding driving skills at 150mph, laughs it off and continues on and completes the 38 mile lap. The clip is only 1:32 long. ruclips.net/video/ECvwnANn5cU/видео.html
ruclips.net/video/GeIfgNUDG1k/видео.html 1988. Tony Pond setting the fastest production car time on the IOM TT course. He managed 37.73 miles in 22min 44 seconds. An average speed of 99.58 mph for the whole course in a standard Rover 800 Fastback Vitesse - just with racing tyres.
@@kylereese4822 1989 was the 1st time a motorcycle passed 120mph average speed..... 2011 standard subaru (race tires) 19 min 56 secs 67s... 2014 standard subaru (race tires) 19 min 15 secs 88s.... 2016 subaru (600hp rally car) 17 min 25 secs and 139s ...... they are measuring in the hundredth of a second now, as Its believed only the amount of dead flies on your windscreen will change your lap times
@@kylereese4822 Pond tried again in 1990 in better weather and got an average 102mph lap. The mods were racing tyres, roll cage and a more open exhaust. The exhaust being specified so marshals could hear the car coming but it could have added a few bhp. There wasn't any record of any suspension or engine mods.
Mark Higgins 2011 Impreza had more suspension mods along with the open exhaust and roll cage but was on road tyres (albeit road tyres that looked like slicks with a minimal amount of tread).
The 2014 car had more modifications and the 2016 was a full on rally car. I suppose what I'm saying is that each lap isn't comparing apples with apples.
For Americans, the Rover 800 was basically the same as a 1985-90 Honda Legend with the C27A V6 motor under the hood and was more of a comfort oriented car than a sporty one.
It is a shame Pond couldn't go back two years later with a Rover 220 turbo coupe and some mods similar to the 2011 Subaru. I reckon that would have gone close to 21 minutes.
Great channel Keep up the good work 👍
Brilliant, really enjoyed watch this.
Man.... i have to go to the toilet.... that speed, that handling..that driver... i want that damn car!
really like your channel mate, it's really great to see you embrace Britishness the way you have. if you have never seen Russel Howards good news. i suggest you give him a go. i know this is the wrong genre for that but it only just sprung to mind. keep up the good work dude. you and the family keep well.
I was there at the Bungalow - it was filmed during TT. Hot day. Absolutely awesome.
I like the fact that they are passing speed cameras 😂
No speed cameras here. They tried to put them up in a couple of places and one mad man kept taking it down in various ways 🤣 All we have now are the signs that give you a frown if your going too quick.
Never can afford such a car but this raging so damn good and the driving itself gives me tears in my eyes at 60 yo in two weeks 😵💫💥🤘
now this is great, love it, gotta make a trip to visit David soon as borders open
I'm missing the Island too. I'm about 100 miles away in NW England
@@davidbirchall832 still once things open up in a year or two, race weekend or week will be needed, can do
There’s another channel? Yass!
Interesting also that at the 14:30 mark of this video where they start getting more corners, his heartrate stays about the same but his breathing rate drastically slows down from the mid 20's all the way down to 13.
Reminds me when I 1st past my test and got my 1970 1380cc classic mini GT and doing country roads in kent! True it’s only a little engine and car but still the fastest car I’m driving today!
lived in the IOM for 14 years and only been to watch the racing 3 or 4 times, rest of the time I'm working
Check out frank Kelly rallying in a ford escort if your into real driving!
It takes many years to learn the 37.73 mile track, consisting of over 200 corners, people who want to ride at the TT will watch every available bit of video and some have rented cars and driven the track over 200 times over a few week period, and at the end of that your still a "beginner". this lap in the Subaru was conducted between bike races when the track was not going to be used for an hour, the driver "Mark Higgins" is like myself a "Manxman" (born on the island) as regards Marshalls it takes over 500 "volunteers" to man the track, we refer to them as the "orange army", without them there would be no TT !
To quote Kenny Roberts, American motorcycle world champion three times. "if you aren't accelerating or braking you're wasting time"
The thing that gets me with tracks like this is how well they remember the layout. I struggle to memorise the Nordschleife, and I have no idea how many times I've been around that in sim racers.
I can fly around nordschleife in my head, haha. Just gotta memorize all the turn names.
Local lad as is David the "other" Subaru U S of A Higgins.
The revenue that island makes from the TT is phenomenal,
And it's a short ferry trip from Heysham where my brother and mother lives.
I'm in London but will take my superduke over there 1 time,
But not to race.
Lol
That was me, when I was a bus driver, when it was the last run of my shift 😂😂😂
A good one for you to review would be Darrel Waltrip on a lap of Bathurst in Australia, great channel btw
3:00 if you're worried about those spectators, just look at World Rally Championship videos from the 1980s. Cars doing 100+mph on dirt and gravel roads with spectators ridiculously close and often in the road, only stepping back as the cars approach.
"WRC Group B" is your search term; something like ruclips.net/video/INwqyPct8qY/видео.html
Mark Higgins def had some balls that day, wish somebody would do another run, be a great thing to have included :)
"day at office" stuff for local lad Mark after a kipper for breakfast and ...META TARO BLU-RAY ..Earworm ringing away .....Even the "other" Higgins David can be called on for Subaru U S of A one at a time publicity runs if need be ...hell even the dad not be to slow it's a in the blood thing
I still don't know if you've see the bit where Fred navigates the top of the chimney when he's going out at an angle as he climbs.... parp!
Hey friend, try left clicking on the video area and then pressing Shift and ? to show you all the good YT shortcuts. Will help you a lot I think.
The feeling of driving these things, with their incredible traction through the bends must be fantastic.
I'm impressed by the way they cope with the sun as the brightness comes and goes.
If you think this is tripped out, you should watch him set the worlds fastest production car around the Isle of Man in a pretty much 100% stock STi. The only thing they changed out was the resonator pipe in the exhaust to a straight pipe. They only did it so the crowd could hear the car when it was coming to their area. Basically, to avoid any accidents because the car stock is pretty quiet. There's no way swapping out the resonator pipe could've given any type of power enhancement. The stock STi also hit just shy of 170MPH around the course. At one point he went threw this turn in the city right next to houses at I think 150MPH, and he hit a dip he didn't see and almost lost control of the car at 150MPH, in a turn, right next to houses. I was having anxiety attacks watching it.
I’ve seen this before you commented and felt the same - less dangerous than the ridiculous bikes. However holy mother these cars are so fast 170 on a fairly normally road! how can they actually see what they are doing, one mistake they are gonners! Immense car and fearless driver.
Just looked up the conner accident, crazy!
The crazy thing is that the Group B rally had similar long stretch speeds, but in the forest, in the snow, at night ...
This is a world rally car, this track is about double the width theyre used to and normally theyre on dirt. There are 7 days of practice, and 7 days of racing for the TT fortnight.
The UK is incredible when it comes to motor sport, that's why all the F1 teams are based here. We lead the world in motor sport tech and car design.
The goverment should give tax breaks on sheds, a brit in his/her shed can create some mindblowing things. Like those hillclimb cars, "hmm supercharger take power from the engine, we need that power to go faster, turbos aren't always spooled up, I know let's use a small jet engine to power the turbo, full boost all the time. Ok time for a cup of tea and i'll get to building"
that was brilliant...amazing watch
honey, going out for milk and bread, back in 2 seconds..........literally!
You should look at some of the Welsh mountain rally stages, that's scary with cliffs beside you.
Yeah we don't do rally like that in Jamaica our mountains are fucking treacherous fog rolls in and sky is mistaken for ground and wall for road.
The TT course is on roads that are in full public use until one hour before the days racing begins, also the lap is so long and covers so many different altitudes and environments the weather can be completely different at 3 different spots around the island, is Bright sunshine in Ramsay, fog on the mountain then rain in Douglas so its impossible to get a set up perfect, also the full race/,time trial is 3 laps
Nice reaction man. I'm currently trying to beat thsi lap in Assetto Corsa with a 800Bhp hillclimb Escort Cosworth.
Oh Bless
Certainly more interesting and skillful than going round a big American oval track
Absolutely
this would give nascar drivers ptsd
TOP rally driver at work. On his home patch.
If you enjoyed this then maybe try looking up 'Climb Dance' - it's old now, Ari Vatanen going up Pikes Peak, in a Peugeot 405 rally car, before it was paved all the way up.
Good choice sir, classic film!... May I suggest "Rendezvous" by Claude Lelouch
@@judasgoat8 Absolutely, possibly the greatest driving film ever
Take a look at the Porsche 919 record around the old Nurburgring. Balls of steel don't do it justice!
One thing I observed living and driving in America, the tyres(tires) 😉 in the States have a harder compound of rubber because they need to do more mileage so the don't have the same grip as tyres sold in the UK. The British tarmac have a much better grip also than the ashfelt/tarmac in the States and concrete gives lousy grip, but there is a reason why we both use the materials we use in our roads so you can't knock the States for using concrete. Much ❤️ sent to my southern brothers 🇺🇸🇬🇧
iconic car
What no one has pointed out is that this all about getting to Last Orders at the pub. If you want your steak sandwich and three pints of Stella with a whiskey chaser, you've got to get there before the others.... And before anyone says "only three pints?" in order to drive like that, you've already had 6.....
I just watched this on another channel and thought I would see if you had seen it. Turned out you did.
At 22:06 he passed a pub on the right side where a biker slammed headfirst and died in a race about 10 years ago.
Group B (1982-1986)
I want EB to react to the Corsica Rally, or something. Acropolis Rally, perhaps.
T16's, Quattros, S4's and RS200's.
Insane spectators.
I think you should react to some rally close calls!
These Guys take a Chance at those Speeds, All it takes ,is an Animal, coming out of those fields, like a wild deer , or a sheep ,a horse . A guess it's s chance you take. Good Channel my friend , Good luck from Scotland, 🏴👈👍
Man, If you wish to see what crazy things can be done in a garage smaller the 10”x10”, check out Alen Millyard, the man is a pure genius engineer. The Things he’s built is just stunning, like a self built 5ltr V twin motorcycle, a Viper V10 motorcycle, a V12 motorcycle, to the most advanced down hill mountain bike ever built. All this from a soft spoken, humble guy that looks the absolute furthest from the person you’d imagine that rides a motorcycle built around a 488ci V10 Viper motor. Please watch a Allen Millyard video, you won’t be disappointed.
@34:00 He noted that was the corner that Connor went flying off ragdoll style
yea since 1907
This is epic
I'm amazed by how little he needs to turn the wheel compared to a normal car we would drive on the roads.
The cars are all sensitive and tuned to be agile as fuck.
my old Saxo had no power steering didnt have to turn much was scary that few times i managed 100 downhill and brakes getting spongy xD
Different ratios in the steering box. Usually 3 turns lock to lock or less.
Hey there EB. Try getting out of the passenger footwell and face the road. Anyone might think you are scared. lol Good job.
I live in England, not far from this at all but have never been. And it's so sad because this is something ide love to see in person at one point in my life (if not ride it haha)
On second thoughts I wouldn't have the balls on the day haha
It's worth it. I was lucky enough to live there for a while. It's not just the racing, the entire island is like a party for the entire fortnight. But the racing, having those bikes scream past just a couple of feet away is truly awesome.
You should watch Dougie Lampkin do a full 37.75 mile lap entirely on his back wheel only , the dude literally wheelied the whole damm course
I have driven the whole route in a hire car on holiday. It is pretty hard work at normal driving speeds! (I was not racing just getting from A to B).
Sorry but there's speed limit only in town on Manx
@@briegleruyet4139 Well I did not know that. I had a very underpowered hire car when in Manx so high speeds were not likely! I updated my post.
If you like rally you should check colin mcrae
I’m from the Isle of Man and most the roads are no speed limit so anyone can just go crazy across the mountain course on way to work if you wanted 🤷🏼♂️
This is the modern equivalent of a 'Group B' Rally car. It's built for acceleration. It's 4 wheel drive with a lunatic amount of horse power!
Now that was a Sphincter clenching run with some wicked bug splatter.
Do t forget a casna plane take off at about 80mph lol love your reations boss it all about tech and control
I've been in that Subaru. Well, maybe not that one. Back in 1997 for my 18th Birthday, I had a day out out with Colin McCrae and his Subaru... As scary as it looks it wasn't that bad. I did find myself trying to push pedals in the passenger seat that just were not there. But it was an enjoyable terrified. If that makes sense... lol. I did also get ago, not in the multi million pound race car that I'd been a passenger in. I had a go in a modified commercial car. Loads of fun. If you can affored to do it, and you can (it was only about £350 for three days including 2 nights in country house) then go and do it. It's the sort of thing money can't buy. But it can! and it's only £350 (about $500)... If you think you can't afford it you are wrong. Just think of it like this. Everytime you're about to order a pizza. Put the phone down and go hungry for the night. Do that 50 times and you have enough cash.
Please can you react to group B rally, the standard cars had about 350 bro and in group B they had 600+, they had to stop it because it was too dangerous, it really is insane humans are fucking mental💯
You need to check out the Isle of Man purple helmets display team
You should go take a look at the Monaco f1 track thats all Street circuit like iom which drivers can take at 190mph + depending on the f1 car
You should react to some of the 'best of WRC' videos when you can. This car is similar to the world rally championship spec cars.
Sebastian Loab is the best rally driver ever.
2 American made cars would have a hard time passing on some of the road. The road is a 500 year old cart track, that was recently graded and paved. It's not a race track, it's a country road, full of potholes, cracks, bumps and dips. At 180 mph, the tires are not touching the ground half the time. Only one in a thousand has what it takes to ride that road the way they do.
Great, but take a look at Fred Dibnah climbing chimneys
you should of seen the 250cc gearbox gokarts that used to run the tt hit a 150mph in the streets .
If you haven't already, it would be a good idea to watch a Rally Close Calls video. There'll probably be some of it with close calls with spectators like how you mentioned here 2:54
This is also a good one: Best Most Crazy Epic Rally Moments | The best scenes of Rallying
35:50 (ish) waves at crowd 😅😅
BTCC is a must watch for any racing fan. NASCAR has nothing on Touring car racing.
Straight lines are great but taking corners fast are were you get the true adrenaline especially when the tail is kicking. If you want to see another nice vid either Ari vatenan "climb dance" or Colin mccrae
Very fast in the car, but imagine being on a bike and getting to 200 on the straights 😂
check out Isle of Man bike and side car TT races.
Check out "Martin Sheen", he was a British motor bike racer, he had a Huge pair on him, he was a national treasure.
If you think that the people at the beginning were too close. You should look at some of the old rally videos. The spectators are in the road and have to run out off the way of the cars.
128mph average speed awesome
A Subaru is essentially a Nakajima.
That car *can* fly.
why did you have to sit in front of the speedo?
