this used to be my most underrated album until today when i listend to it again (for like the... 50th? time.) and im loving the songs more and more. this album took the longest to grow on me surprisingly. p4 is still my favorite tho
Every time I listened to the end of this album I always wondered why there's 20 seconds of silence at the end of this song. Today I realized that this album is exactly 69 minutes long.
i feel like this is there best song ever written. it doesn't take an idiot to perfectly write a song that has almost every riff and section sound like a crossover from every other unique song off the whole album. fucking great work. \m/
The album as a whole is one of the best I've ever heard in terms of complete cohesion. Like I've almost never heard an album that sounds so *complete* where every single song is amazing to boot.
if you guys didn't know or haven't noticed 3:27 this part the lyrics are same with Muramasa's beginning lyrics, here is the reason why if you guys didn't know A legend tells of a test where Muramasa challenged his master, Masamune, to see who could make a finer sword. They both worked tirelessly, and when both swords were finished, they decided to test the results. The contest was for each to suspend the blades in a small creek with the cutting edge facing against the current. Muramasa's sword, the (十千夜寒, "10,000 Cold Nights") cut everything that passed its way; fish, leaves floating down the river, the very air which blew on it. Highly impressed with his pupil's work, Masamune lowered his sword, the (柔らかい手, "Tender Hands"), into the current and waited patiently. Only leaves were cut. However, the fish swam right up to it, and the air hissed as it gently blew by the blade. After a while, Muramasa began to scoff at his master for his apparent lack of skill in the making of his sword. Smiling to himself, Masamune pulled up his sword, dried it, and sheathed it. All the while, Muramasa was heckling him for his sword's inability to cut anything. A monk, who had been watching the whole ordeal, walked over and bowed low to the two sword masters. He then began to explain what he had seen.
@@BirdOfHermes83 "The first of the swords was by all accounts a fine sword, however it is a blood thirsty, evil blade, as it does not discriminate as to who or what it will cut. It may just as well be cutting down butterflies as severing heads. The second was by far the finer of the two, as it does not needlessly cut that which is innocent and undeserving."
Rails2Revolution I was talking to someone about it recently, pretty much the only way to do vocals like that is unclean or rapping. Like a lot of songs would sound weird if the uncleans were done clean, but it would come across okay if rapped.
Can't argue with that. I'm super picky, but when a band hits me, it hits hard. In my almost 37 years on this planet, i've had maybe 4 or 5 bands who hit the living crap out of me for months on heavy rotation, but after less than a year of getting to know them, I don't think any band ever slapped the wrinkles out of my ballsack like Periphery.
Listened to Juggernaut before P2 and i think it benefited me, i loved Juggernaut as it was my first taste of Periphery and so i like that album just as much as this and gotta say this album is a masterpiece, also the little stories in the description of all the videos are so interesting to read, ty Misha and everyone in the band for this music we are blessed with, stoked beyond belief for P3
I like how much better Spencer has gotten at singing. If you watch his live performances from a couple years ago, he was admittedly off key a lot of the time. But I saw them live a few weeks ago and HOLY SHIT, he literally sounds just like he does on the album, but with even more impressive heavy growlish stuff. Flawless live performance.
+Frabjous I found his vocals on juggernaut extremely annoying. I like his vocals on everything but juggernaut. I heard someone describe it as it sounds like his talking to a baby. He does it a little on p3 too but not as much as juggernaut.
Haven't listened to periphery in about 3 months and after listening to this, Erised and Luck as a constant i actually feel emotional to the point of wanting to just jump about and possibly even weep. No shadow of a doubt that Periphery and After The Burial are easily the 2 best bands out there!!!!
I've known about Periphery and BULB since I was in highschool. Stopped listening to them after their self titled with Icarus Lives! on it. I was wondering what all the fuss was about Periphery. Now I know. Damn.
Periphery is the one band that can still amaze me with how they can take a song and make its happy but heavy sounding tgo basically brutal as fuck seamlessly
One of the things i love aboout this band is their ability to do complex stuff with an perfect precision. They are really amazing and their music is completely breathtaking :)
Apparently there are 48 people who are so stupid they can't understand how incredible this song is. The amount of dynamics, the depth and range of Spencer's vocals, and the insanely heavy yet beautifully satisfying rhythms are absolutely intoxicating. Can't get enough.
I like how this track is build ..in the midle of the song you are given i lil taste of the heaviest of the song, then you wish to last longer..at the final minute of the song you get it right in the face !!!
3:20 Spencer sings that in Ragnarok too. What exactly is he saying? For anyone wondering where the line is in Ragnarok, after he yells "Set me free!" he sings that line.
There's no pardon for a meddling soul Somewhere in time we welcomed in the fall, now in the distance I can see shining, clear, our demise to be... We're not listening to ourselves.
"Exoplanet III: Light" is undoubtedly my favorite song of the Exoplanet trilogy, dude. It's also my second favorite track from Exoplanet. Additionally, I absolutely love the way in which Cameron and Robby harmonize in the earlier part of "Exoplanet I: Egress" as well as the sheer earth-shattering brutality of "Exoplanet II: Void." The Contortionist AND Periphery are both fucking FANTASTIC. Conclusively, the outro of this song is pure fucking eradication of the human race.
They were amazing!! They played Ragnarok, Have a Blast, Buttersnips, Facepalm Mute, Make Total Destroy and Icarus Lives. They were supporting Between the Buried and Me who were equally as amazing.
I just died. One of my favorite bands, an awesome song, and not to mention the title is Takano's (Takano Masamune) name in my favorite anime. This is perfect. -3

This song is like walking down a familiar road then suddenly realizing you have *no idea* *_where the fuck you are._*
Or you're just walking up a mountain and suddenly fall down a hole. lol
Undertale.
In-fucking-dubitably
I don't know where I am right now!

at what point does the v neck just turn into a shirt with a gap in the middle? 🤔
@@iris_the_cat That was when they recorded Hell Below

I love the opening riff so much
the beginning gives me a nostalgic vibe
I heard this for the first time last night... and it's unreal. This whole album is a masterpiece
same here.. sounds like undertale battle music actually
+superspinclaw It reminds me about Limp Bizkit... yeah, good vibes
reminds me of playing halo lol
Masamune has remained my favourite song off the album since I first heard it
Not for me but only cause the rest of the album is so good!!
From 0:55 to 1:55 is the fucking best part for me :o
edit: and 4:23, because if/when universe ends it must sound like that
Every time you listen to the last part, a demon is summoned somewhere...
So we have around more than 1 million demons around here...
Lmao. Rock demons \m/
They only terrorize non-Periphery fans.
Every time you say demon, a theist is triggered somewhere...
demons just rocking out to periphery
dat vocal and guitar beat syncing at :55 holy sheet
I love when he does that, he does the same in Ragnarok
Wish there was a band that was all about that sound. It's sounds so groovy and rappy
Try listening to some Volumes, it's pretty much that style
So gnarly!!

cleans are also perfectly placed and tasteful. beautiful song everywhere makes me sad/happy at the same time lol
castaway i feel the heaven slowly turning grey .....just....godlike
I fucking came. Seriously.
Ironic
That delay lead riff.....so simple, so freaking awesome.
I'm convinced that Periphery is the best metal band to come around in the past 10 years. This song proves it.

One of the best endings to an album ever. Only gets better with TIME

2:13-2:32 best part of the song vocally, wish it lasted longer
Same :(

it's so fucking beautiful.
I totally get it but sometimes it's just a few unique measures in a song that make it perfect. And this song has at least half a dozen of these.
