Lyrics:
The prosthetic limbs of social norms are beating us today
The burdens we all must hide, or pay for it
Transgressions aside
Be a martyr for life and everything will be fucking fine
Transgressions aside
Having the time of our lives
Now pay for it and you’ll savor every last drop
Two as one
Fodder for the slaughterhouse
Quartered on the killing floor
You and I are searching for something beyond this social condition
Fill the ballot and give our permission
Over and over
Again and again
Sort your condition
Get down with submission
Searching for something beyond this social condition
Cast your vote and then move aside
Tradition of submission starting from the womb
You better watch what you say
They always know what’s best though
Conditioned by their vision
Sinking in our tombs
The pressure is always there
We know… they want what’s best though
Of course they do
I think it’s time to stop pointing fingers and start looking inward
Measure the cases ‘cause it’s not right just to generalize
Start staring down your life and maybe you’ll see things much clearer
Imploring what’s down in your mind to make an appearance
Sort your condition
Throw it in remission
Throw it aside
(Solo: Bowen)
Will it ever be?
Will we ever live in honesty?
‘Cause we’re falling apart, you and I
Will it ever be?
Will we ever live another day in honesty?
‘Cause we’re falling apart, right from the start, you and I
So paint that picture to sleep at night
No regard for another’s life
We'll be just fine, you and I
Thanks guys, so glad to finally be putting some new music out, and I hope you enjoy!
Special nod to Supergiant and Darren Korb for their amazing work on Hades, which distracted us from working on P5. Seriously the album would have been out way sooner, like years sooner but had to get that 32 Heat run you know?
It's beautiful 😭 nonstop goosebumps.
I literally shat my pants when I heard the Hades motif
So what I'm hearing is you guys were so enthralled by Hades that Juggernauts themes needed some revisitation?
Absolutely awesome songs man I can't wait for the album 🔥
Hades is great, I dont blame you lol
Happy International “I need to fix my guitar tone” Day, everyone!
Haha of course you're here already (;
@@KeenanBreese mate I’m in Australia, I’ve technically been here since 14 hours ago

You never know what you're gonna get from a Periphery song. "This song is about dealing with grief, this is about the effects of bullying, this one is about a stoner who fights aliens, this one is about the plight of indigenous people, this one is a nod to our favorite video game..."
I thought the stoner one was about a stoner thinking that lizard people were invading earth? (Reptile)
@@HugoStiglitz88 that’s what I thought it was about. Satellites off that album completely caught me off guard with the “suck my balls” at the end😂
@@HugoStiglitz88 and then the aliens killing everyone and making a new world order? That song is imo one of the greatest ever made
"This one is about the earth asking humans to not destroy it, and humans responded with 'suck my balls'"
Are you referring to Ji as the song about the plight of indigenous people?
The nod to the “Hades” video game soundtrack at 6:57 Is just amazing 🤩
As soon as I heard that first chord I was like oh shit so they're doing that haha
I love it ❤️
@@JackVGM Same ! Chills all around
That explains the song title aswell hahaha
ive played that game! it sounds just like it lol
When Periphery goes melodic it's the most beautiful shit ever made. Just straight peak.
But doesn't peak mean bad?

@@JeremiahFernandez ha i see what you did there you cheeky scoundrel
Well this song hit me like a truck. Zagreus was the name of our cat, we named him after Hades (Video Game). He passed on the third. This comes out a couple days later, same name, and very clearly inspired from the same place. I heard those notes. This was absolutely fantastic and a very cathartic experience that the universe decided to swing at me with.
Thanks.
Ya usually people can connect to music alot easier when it relates to their trauma
Woah very special coincidence. RIP Zagreus, wishing you peace and comfort during this difficult time.
i'm not crying, oh my god. rip lil guy, I hope this song helps you in more than one way!
So sorry for your loss man, but thank you for sharing. Been through it, most horrifying experience of my life. All I can say, is that your resonance with this Periphery tune is the exact reason Periphery exists in all our lives. To heal broken hearts, laugh in our faces, and slide in at just the right time....usually with some fucked up shit no one csn quantify.
Coincidence. If only we could be that special. Sorry about your cat
that little datail at 1:41 when spencer says "cast your vote and then move aside" and the word "aside" shifts to the left ear
i hated this at the beginning but it has really grown on me
Periphery does the thing Rush did. They have a blast making music and don’t take themselves too seriously. That tends to make the best music. The artists who just enjoy themselves doing it.
This shit slaps.
Haken and King Gizzard are also great examples of this combo
'Have a blast'
@repentandbelieveinJesusChrist4 🤓
@Dragon Ball fans can't read Periphery does have the same kind of a sense of humor. Ever seen Rush live?
I love that they don't take themselves too seriously except for the compositions. Spencer takes things seriously too with lyrics and singing but not always (isn't reptile about a stoner who thinks the lizard people are taking over? Lmfao that's some Alex jones type shit right there 🤣)
I love how one of my favorite songs by them is a blatant chappelles show/Charlie Murphy reference, Habitual Line Stepper

I love how when Periphery tell us “Hey, we’re releasing two new tracks!” it actually means we’re getting 15+ minutes of bangin’ tunes, not just a measly 3 or 4 minutes of standard song lengths. 🎉🤗🤘🏼 Feels like I’m experiencing a whole EP this morning, listening on repeat.
"Will it ever be?" section might have just taken my #1 favourite spot in any of your songs.
So simple, yet so powerful 👏
Hell yeah, melodically powerful, such a great moment !
Right up there with Lune and Sattelites instantly
Dude that melody is solid. I'm still making up my mind. Love these guys.

@@l.-._.-._.-._.-._.-.l How could I forget? Nothing but facts!
Spencer feels like one of the only metal vocalists right now that can write vocal parts that are equally as interesting as the disjointed and odd guitar parts he's singing over. While somehow making it fit even though it sounds very much like the opposite of what I might have expected him to do. Everyone in this band is phenomenal.
I feel ya man. Something I also noticed, watch a good band like this introduce a written statement or changing the purview of how a word is perceived. Then a few months later watch how all the bands that can make catchy songs with a few decent lines steal the unique thought processes this (and similar bands) develop only to get eaten alive by mediocre copycats. Then rinse and repeat

Thanks for the wedding gift boys, we'll be blasting the 2 singles at our ceremony tonight
HELL YEAH CONGRATS
Congrats man!
F*** yeah! 🤘🏽 congrats, man!
Congrats dude,
Hahaha beastmode! We used music from BTBAM in our ceremony a decade ago - never regretted it!
The riffs that go hard as fuck are amazing, always, but it's the melodic parts that always hit me right in the guts (the part from 4:40). You guys never disappoint.
"We'll be juuuuuuuuuuust ffffffiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnneeeeeeeeee" FUCK ME SPENCER YOU ARE A FUCKING GENIUS!
Spencer's vocals just keep getting better on each album. AOTY for sure
Are there even any other albums this year? Maybe killswitch engage has one this year idk. But judging by their last and peripherys last I'd be shocked if it's better LOL
@@HugoStiglitz88 Haken album also will be dope. Tesseract announced also new stuff. will be a good year :D
Gonna be a hard one for me between this and Sleep Token's 'Take me back to Eden'.
The more i listen to these new songs the more i realize how much care and attention has been put into each note being played
This album will truly be Periphery at their good damn finest
Yeah I got a feeling about that...I feel like they are hitting back on their roots with this one.
Idk. They're always great but I don't think they'll ever top P1. The musicality on that one is just on another level. Their compositions are improving though which is nice
@@HaroldnolikeGerald this doesn't sound like their roots at all lol have you heard p1 and p2? This is more like juggernaut tbh. That's not their roots

Wait for Silhouette. It's gonna be the most polarizing song on the album. Channeling some serious "The 1975" vibes.
If this is what the first two singles are like than this album will be EPIC!!!!!
Lol your name is like a bad Tom Brady alias
That Four Lights callback at 2:58 🔥
And 6:32 ;)

wow great catch, love that song!
Wow! This song sure does Djent!
Thank god there's new Periphery, 2023 is already a good year. Spencer continues to be the best vocalist in the game
Fuck yeah!! There are so many bands who get the instrumentation right but the vocalist just takes a shit on the vocals and I pray they release an instrumental. Periphery... No. Okay I'd be down for instrumental but Spencer is so sick that I'd miss him

Nor will you ever hear the same song played the same way twice. 40 years strong too. I love periphery a whole lot. That's not a question. I'm just replying to this comment with what I know.
I think BTBAM is up there too. Especially after Colors II
How long do you think their set list be on this upcoming tour? I’m debating if I should go or not
I can't understand how music like this isn't more popular man
This has huge Protest The Hero vibes and I love it
Glad I'm not the only one who hears it! That outro is so PTH I get chills everytime
I really hope the whole album is full of moments like this. Nothing beats the catchy and melodic side of Periphery.
Agate
Oh my god, the little bits and pieces of this song that call back to the 'longing for something beyond' theme of Alpha-Omega is genius and beautiful
This song goes so hard - thank you so much for more grandeur, Jake, Misha, Spencer, Mark, Matt, and Nolly ❤️
"Djent is not a genre", but delivers one of the most djenty songs of the band.
Both songs lol
It's not a genre, it's a lifestyle

God that part from 4:13 is so good
I’d have too agree
it was such a pleasant surprise
Beautiful! Jesus Christ!
I was NOT expecting that... Nobody shifts gears as well as Periphery these days!
God damn I could put that on repeat all day
Seeing if anyone else noticed the absolute masterpiece @ 3:40-6:00. That has to be one of the most powerful and moving parts of a song I have ever heard.
I Just heard this song for the first time this morning and had to repeat it 10 times! What a great tune.
The vocal work in this one reminds me to Rody Walker quite a bit. This band simply can do no wrong!

Neither song so far is on the level of anything from P2 or P3 to me but that's music, subjective. The mix on this also seems like their worst mix ever.
@@derpderpin1568 this mix is certainly not as bad as p1 or p2 lol, it's a very polished sound though which i get that not everyone will prefer.

@@BionicleSaurus From a listeners perspective, Hail Stan is probably the most approachable album they've released. Now, in my opinion as a guitarist, P2, Juggernaut, and P3 take the cake for pure guitar nerd listening pleasure based on riffs alone.

6:39 is also a Four Lights reference, it's the last breakdown pattern from that song... is this album going to be full of Juggernaut references??? These 2 singles have me so excited
Right After it it Sounds like „the Event“
There are sections lyrically for both songs that give off the impression of a secret Juggernaut sequel and I might be looking to deep into it but it’s such a cool thought
I think I heard Misha mention in a live steam a while ago that they wanted to pursue a sequel to the Juggernaut albums. We might be witnessing that sequel.
I think this is the sequel. Wildfire seems like the continuation from some parts of the last story. After all the cycle started again at the end of stranger things. So I think this could be a huge possibility.
