Lyrics:
You take the long way
Wrong way to form me
And the time is now
I never would have thought this is the new me
So many people
So many faces left to please around me
You’re ready to play dead?
I’m ready to face it
As I’m falling to pieces, the vultures are feasting
We’ve breached the precipice
Long way down
Now I’ll say this: I’m in hell, passed the mark I’ve missed
Mistakes running through my brain
There’s a lesson to be learned and I’ll heal again
Bloodstains cover all the walls
I’m the pessimist patient doll
So here I sit like a marionette
Strings on my limbs, rope on my neck
The hell below exists within my bed
Counting every misstep ‘till it’s time to reset
It feels so low, the love I’ve known
Floating on my own
Forward
Back
It’s all the same now
This is a one way road
Somebody do it slowly… kill me slowly
The past is cutting through me and all the imperfections, they show
Heartbeat haunts me
When all the bad times stick and I don’t know what to do with them, I’m burning like wildfire
Take me fucking out of this hole
Heartbeat haunts me
‘Cause all the bad times stayed and I don’t know what I’m doing here
Mistakes coursing through my veins like the heroin needle to the addict’s brain
Bloodstains
Hanging from the wall is the pessimist patient doll
So here I sit like a marionette
A slave to thoughts
They’re like a weight on my chest
An appetite for neither food nor sex
With a malicious intent I’ll take two to the head
(Solo: Mansoor)
You put the strings on my limbs
I put the rope on my neck
You put the strings on my limbs
I put the rope around my fucking neck
You put the strings on my limbs
Now I’m the one with the rope on my neck
(Sax solo: Munkeby) - Видеоклипы
It's so good to see Bono still going strong after all these years!
Nailed it.
If you think about it, he looks like the perfect fusion betweeen Bono Vox and Jesse from Breaking Bad

Slight resemblance to George Michaels. 😂

This is probably the most Periphery song that has ever Peripheried in the history of Periphery
Peripheristic !

@@muke392it is. A semitone up.
@@muke392you must be new to Periphery or something, they reference other songs all the time. Dunno why you're saying it like a criticism.
As a drummer I can tell you 1:06 is a dream for some of us. Solo counting the band back in with stick clicks, it just makes you feel so cool 😎
Lol, I've been in a few bands and the drummer would get a woody(pun intended) when he got to count with his sticks. I mean, they are the backbone of pretty much every band ever but the simple things like counting to 4 with their sticks is great.
Best feeling ever when you remind them where we are.
This era of long hair for Misha, Jake and Mark is what we needed. Spencer is officially at the height of his power and Matt’s drumming makes me want to buy every GGD package available. P5 is going to be so sick. Wildfire is amazing!

I wonder what the thought process behind this song was. Why so many juggernaut references, in both songs.

I love that Periphery will throw in an unexpected jazz section into a brutally heavy djent song, as they walk off-set to watch a sax solo on a screen. They refuse to take themselves too seriously and aren't afraid to take chances if it means they have fun in the process. That's called "Pulling a Periphery."

There is something mystically epic and profound about the chorus in this song. Spencer's tone and the music in general is deeply nostalgic somehow. Defitnely hits hard and is truly inspiring and gives me a lot of hope in the music industry and humanity in general. You lot are awesome.

I saw Fredrik live w/ Meshuggah a few years back in ATL, GA. He was mid-solo of Millenium and the way he melded his entire being to the sound, the rhythm, the creation that is.. he essentially left his shell of being human in that moment. The experience left me in shock and I had an existential crisis for about a week after that show.

The happiest of accidents. Enjoy the rest of their discography!
Damn Spencer is just getting better and better, probably one of the best vocalists in the scene, perfect to go with one of the best guitarists!
The chorus vocals are some of the most unique choices I've ever heard. Usually you want your clean vocals to be catchy and digestible. These guys are out of their fuckin minds and did a full jazz structure in the chorus and made it work. I guess Djent is indeed not a genre, it's a medium.
In all seriousness, this fusion is enchanting and I'm obsessed. I'm hype.
Djent is not a genre, it's a lifestyle

At 2:01, Spencer does a high scream and the guitars do a little high bend to accent it and it’s those little things that give me goosebumps
Glad I wasn’t the only who noticed!
That and at 1:07ish Matt does a little count as there's a break into chugging followed immediately by an 8bit breakdown...little nuances like that give me life
