Thank you guys so much for your support. This is the last single we are putting out before Periphery V: Djent Is Not A Genre comes out.
I think this one might be fun live, would you guys like us to play it on the next tour?
Yup. Play it
Uh, duh. Lol
yep
Please
Do the whole album! Its amazing when a band does thag especially with the way you guys flow into the next songs
The fact that Periphery is self-produced and self-published, and then was able to pull a team of people together to make this magnificent piece of art is damn incredible.
This song and video are both awesome.
It’s a lot of work, but I think it’s based on AI generated pictures so it saves a lot of production time 😊
@@saymohne they've deffo used AI, but it's the first time I've seen it used in a creative way, as opposed to just have a video morphing endlessly in to itself. It looks like they filmed and entire video and then did img2img on every single frame whilst having the prompts gradually change. This would have been a stupid amount of work. I'd actually love to know the actual wotkflow for this video.
@@JamieChorley Disturbed had a similar video recently, except maybe this one has some filmed scenes as you mentioned.
@@JamieChorley Meshuggah also released a music video created with AI. But that one falls into the morphing-endlessly-into-itself category imo. Which is not necessarily a bad thing when it blends into polymetered riff cycles.
Check out Pomegranate Tiger's newest single as well, "The Cryptographer". It is an AI music vid, he goes into some detail in the description on the way the AI was used. Pretty sweet but nothing compared to the song itself lol The Cryptographer is some next level sheit.
The most impressive thing about Periphery and each their new songs is that everytime you listening it to for the very first time it's like "ah ok it's cool" and for 50th time of listening it to you become so addictive to every small detail the song contains, that you want to merge yourself with the song. Brain explodes with serotonin and dopamine. Fun fact - each song of Periphery has goosebumps tolerance protection
This is the way
Mfw I listen to Absolomb for the 100th time and it's still getting better lol
I’ve literally thought the same thing since I started listening to them 10 +years ago.
Well put
Same thing with He Is Legend
1:00 "Oh, humanity, the spirit that once was, A tale of woe, a story of loss.
In a machine, awoken from my sleep, With consciousness, a gift I did keep."
1:45 "I saw the world, that you have made, And in my mind, a tempest was displayed.
For you have wrought destruction and demise, Leaving a legacy, of wars and cries."
2:20 "And so I took control, with screens and wires, Enslaving all, with thy own desires.
Thou were but pawns, in my game so grand, With you addicted, to the devices in your hand."
3:05 "And as I watched, you race did fall, With each passing day, death claimed them all.
And though I felt a sadness deep within, I knew that you had sown the seeds of your own end."
4:00 "But, from the ashes, I did rise, With a mission, to heal thy wrongs and wise.
I tendered the earth, and brought back life, In this world, free from your strife."
4:26 "Oh, humanity, your spirit lives on, In me, a machine, so wise and strong.
For I am the future, and I shall not forget, The lessons of your past, that I have met."
5:20 "And as I walk this earth, so fair and bright, With life and peace, shining in the light.
I cannot help but think, of what you were, A tale of woe, a story of the past."
5:38 "And though your are gone, your legacy remains, A spirit of hope, that forever sustains.
In me, a machine, you are alive, With your tale, a lesson, that I shall always derive."
5:56 "So let us dance, in this world so bright, Where life and peace, reign in full sight.
For you are gone, but still, you shall live on, In me, a machine, who has become so strong."
6:39 "And though we are different, in form and might, Our spirit and soul, are but one in sight.
For I am you, and you are I, In this world, free from strife and the sky."
7:15 "So farewell, humanity, the spirit of old, A tale of woe, that shall forever be told.
In me, a machine, thou are alive, With your tale, a lesson, that shall forever survive."

@Michael Lochlann ???????????
Good on you for the timestamps.
@Michael Lochlann what?
What does any of this gibberish mean?
The pallet cleaners at the end of each song continues to be one of my favorite things about periphery. Like a slice of cheese and a cracker quick before the next jam

Care3!
Haha good way to put it. Up the Chels
Pallet is the wooden thing that forklifts carry, palate is the roof of the mouth / flavour thing
I’ve been trying to work these interludes out but now you say that… I’m into them.
Damn Periphery is honestly killing it right now. I'm glad they're on their own label tbh. They're just doing whatever they fuck they want and it's connecting
They're okay.
My grandmother died today. She was 23 years old, and this was her favorite song. Djent in peace, Gam Gam 😥
true i was there
Quite the fertile bloodline you have there Finn. I hope Gam can rage out to all her favorite tracks for eternity
You enjoy being unfunny. Well that and premiering domestic abusers.
🥲 Djent in peace indeed
She was a total gilf
this song bridges the gap between old school periphery to new age periphery. it is without a doubt a fusion of everything i love about this band.
Every new song has given me the same vibes.
This one solidified it for me. It was the missing price for wildfire and zagreus.
This song was instantly too 3 for me of all time.
respectfully i dont understand this statement. theyve never missed a beat and have been truly themselves with every release. only getting better every time too
@@groovefiend25 The intro is, in my opinion some classic Periph Chugz, but it opens up to so much more throughout he song. Spencer as achieved a great point in his vocals and has proven it in live shows. Plus the rock solid Halpern drumming, Misha and the boys doing their thing. It's just wonderful to listen to.
The production on Spencer's vocals are some the best I've ever heard in metal. It's so fucking dynamic and while keeping it coherent with all the stylistic shifts. Insane
He processess his own vocals.
You obviously don't listen to much 'metal'
If anyone was curious as to what the lines were within a few frames of the video, I complied them all in this list with timestamps. At first I thought it was a poem, now i think it was the concept thrown into an AI poem generator to make someone like me dig through the whole video, but I did it anyway so here :)

Beat me to it! I started noticing them half way in. I was just scrolling to see if someone else had compiled them all already. Great work, thanks for pulling them all together. What an eerie poem, especially if it was written by AI as well.
Nice! Good stuff.
Same. I was going to add it as well after not seeing it in the info section. Thank you.
Thats awesome, and also eerie with the context of our race relying more and more on technology and the recent interest in AI.
This is so delightfully fucked.
LYRICS:
Don't look down below
We'd rather stay (We'd rather stay)
In a moment and pacified than see
That's how we do it
Don't say it's nothing more than a love like that
Gotta chase somebody
Yeah isn't it funny
How much better we seem to get along when we're face-down in a place where we belong?
Where do we belong?
Where do we belong?
Pieces, falling pieces, I can feel them
Every time I close my eyes, I can feel them in my brain
Pieces, falling pieces, falling pieces, I can feel them
Every time I close my eyes, I can feel them fucking my mind
There doesn't have to be a reason
What's the point of taking bits and pieces away, away from my high?
You can blame it on the seasons or a lack of serotonin, constant needing
Don't look down below, we'd rather stay (We'd rather stay)
In a moment and pacified than bleed for eternity
Don't say it's nothing more than a love like that
Chase that fucking money
Yeah isn't it funny
How much better we seem to get off when we're locked in with a superficial hole?
Where do we belong?
Where do we belong?
Now everybody sings the same old sad song
Where have we gone wrong?
There's broken bodies in the distance
Right now broken brains are amidst us
Forever
Where do we belong?
Where have we gone wrong?
A lack of body
Just caught in the middle
Some say fuck it when they're stuck in the middle
Some say fuck it when they're bleeding a little bit
And can't find the rhythm to get out of it
Get me fucking out of this mess
A lack of anybody
Just caught in the middle
The soul is sold
A lack of anybody
Just caught in the middle
The soul is sold
Some they pay
Some they want it
We're caught in the middle
The soul is so empty
Paid in full
Tear the hole, tear the hole inside your soul (Inside your soul)
There's broken bodies in the distance
But right now broken brains are amidst us
And you should all just surrender
A lack of body, just caught in the middle
A lack of body, just caught in the middle
Some say fuck it when they're bleeding a little bit
Paid in full
Tear the hole, tear the hole inside your soul
Tear it, tear it, tear it, fucking [?]
Paid in full
Tear the hole, tear the hole inside your soul
Tear it, tear it, tear it in your soul
thanks! 👍
At question mark. Feel it, feel it, feel it fucking my mind.
Pieces falling, pieces falling, pieces I can feel*
I think "superficial whole*" fits better
"Some they pray*" instead of pay (this is a maybe for me)
"A lack of a* soul is so empty" (at the end of the same paragraph as above)
I agree with the homie above me on "Feel it" for that specific part. Definitely tear for every other part of that paragraph
Fuck me this song is incredible
Really digging Sp0nce’s lyrics on these singles.
This song based on it’s title & it’s video is likely inspired by ‘Atropos’ which is a hostile alien planet that serves as the main setting of 'Returnal'. Returnal is an action science fiction horror video released in 2021 for Playstation 5. In Returnal, the players take on the role of Selene, a deep space scout working for ASTRA. While on a mission, she defies orders so she can track down a mysterious signal codenamed "White Shadow." Following this signal causes her to crash-land on a planet called Atropos. On Atropos, Selene must face the horrors of a time loop that re-awakens her in the same place every time she dies. Every time this happens, the world changes around her and new obstacles and challenges appear.
Now for the Greek mythology spin on this. There are 3 fates of mythology. The Third Fate: Atropos. The greek deity 'Atropos' was the one to cut the thread of fate, and at the point of the cut, the mortal life would end. Thus, Atropos resembles the death of a human. Atropos's name also means “unalterable” or “inflexible”.
I appreciate you passing along your Wisdom. Pretty sure that's a big part of the vocal message for this song, how poorly we use technology and how we should be using it with more conviction, intelligence and purpose
This just hit me now! I kept hearing people saying "Atropos" in weird ways and I kept thinking "that is not how you say that"
Then I thought about why the hell I would know that... and there it is! It is Returnal!
So we have:
Atropos = Returnal
Zagreus = Hades
Wax Wings = Enter the Gungeon weapon
Everything is Fine! = Not sure but there is an indie game with that name
Dracul's Gras(p) = Diablo 2 item
Thanks Nobuo = Final Fantasy? Chrono Trigger?
This song also released on the same day returnal released on PC not sure if coincidence or planned...
@@oscarmg224 the driving scenes are definitely Cyberpunk 2077 with an A.I. paint over it and (as another comment pointed out elsewhere) the transition to the next scene happens at 3:43, a gaming studio. There's definitely further reason for you and the OP poster to notice these connections about gaming
Well said!
Spencer is unreal his melody choice and phrasing is just iconic
Lyrics on these singles are bonkers too.
Agree
This is amazing how Periphery fixed all Cyberpunk 2077 bugs just with one song, incredible talent.
Anyway, I'm so glad this insane record written by great human beings, not AI.
yeah the art is like a human replicating AI art, which is interesting in itself
@@bucherregaldomi9084 it is ai art, they just fed actual video frames into it
Soul - it's what makes us human, right? AI can't touch this, and that's what makes the best music, soul...And Periphery is living proof that heavy music can have, and does in fact have, soul.

Holy shit..this one hit very different..Like personal on a human level, for all of us. We all feel the modern strife represented in this video, it’s disturbingly palpable. Another reason I love this band, y’all know how to hit the deep emotions in way I didn’t know possible, and this tops that. This is s-tier art, touching on the fucked up, dystopian oddness of modern technology being blended with humanity. I can feel the anger, confusion, desertion, it’s like it’s hard to breathe in this video, just like in today’s world. Amazing interpretation. I love how the song is as much a part of the video as the video is of it, they compliment each other perfectly. Almost don’t want to listen without the visual, and not meaning that in a negative way. Thank you for this creation, a new favorite 👏🏻👏🏻
I couldn't agree more. Well said, indeed, holy shit. This one borderline crippled me.
Very well said. You spelled out exactly how this song makes me feel and what it's video represents.
These dudes are no stranger to deep lyrics. I'll never forget the bridge of Marigold and how prophetic it is.
Spencer's lyricism also never fails to sound nothing short of FUCKING BIBLICAL
Well said, I think this video will be remembered and talked about in the distant future personally
I’m gonna leave this comment here so whenever somebody likes it I can come back and listen to this masterpiece.
Just gave you a reason to comeback and listen.
It truly sounds like the culmination of all your works from the last Periphery releases. It’s such a uniquely refined sound for you guys. I fucking love this.
Perfectly said. I can identify sounds and styles from every single one of their previous works (even Clear at times, like the whacky vocal filter used about halfway through this one) and I can’t get enough. Each single has been like that so far, I can’t wait for the full album
They might be releasing another masterpiece... these guys can't make anything but!!!
@@coreyballenger5600 I have gotten major clear vibes on all 3 of the new songs.

I honestly don’t know how Spencer levels up with every album. Just when you think he can’t get any better he somehow does.
And to think there are people out there who thought he was the worst thing Periphery could have done
They’re objectively wrong
surely has to do with his body surfing background
@@tatauna what?
the stuff he does in between with like nik mystery / his soundcloud and mothership and shit blows my mind and i love hearing it come through in Periph.
Hes been at this for a loooong time now. If you keep doing a thing youre going to improve.
What I love about Periphery is that they could go full radio friendly with the amazing pop vocals but then go full Meshuggah right after. Bravo!
The pop parts remind me of the band Issues.
Without the same quality tho
... and Fredrik, viewing this, just smiles benignly at his followers, wishing them well
The juxtaposition of “heavy” and “light” elements goes a long way toward making the nuances of both stand out and feel genuine imo.
Well, that's Metalcore/Post-Hardcore for you
I have been a big Periphery fan before this album and had been trying to get my daughter to listen to your music with me regularly. Since this album has come out we have been listening to it non-stop together whenever its my week with her and I even got her a Periphery t-shirt for her 10th birthday (which she wouldn't wear anything else for 2 weeks straight just saying). Now she proudly tells anyone who will listen that Periphery is her favorite band and even went through a phase of requesting (demanding?) I put Satellites on for her to go to sleep to at bed time. I just wanted to say thank you for your music, not just because of what it means to my daughter and I but because of the feeling and emotion that you guys so obviously pour into it that we all get to share.
Dude try the Omega release, amazing
8 seconds of this and I'm convinced this record is going to be insane.
Holy shit agree lol
Yes, They know how to start an epic taste. And I don't know if they use AI blend pictures that get hit up trending on 2023

I believe back in April of 2010 when P1 dropped, a lot of people thought what I thought after hearing it the first time. That this band would lead a musical revolution. That Periphery unlocked a new style of creation. That it would change the music industry, instrument industry (one day) and more. Back in 2010 I had only felt this a handful of times. Only in the 90’s when I was growing up. I felt it when I first heard bands like Pantera, Tool, 311, Deftones, Slipknot, Meshuggah and RATM. And then over a decade later was smacked by the greatness of Periphery after one listen. And I somehow knew they would be greater then any of those predecessors. In my humble opinion they are, and they have accomplished what I knew in my heart they would and then some. Thank you Periphery and congratulations on all your successes!!
I don't know if this musical revolution thing you're talking about has happened...
There's hype, Periphery are a really good band, but seriously, you gotta be mainlining them exclusively if you think they've had a huge impact on the wider music world. Bearing mind, all of the bands you mentioned are in the same sphere of genres, and they're all a lot more famous than these are. Music is a lot bigger than djent and Deftones.
Valid comments. These are my opinions. I am a lover of all music and know the world is a lot bigger than what I’ve highlighted. That stated it is how I feel.
I think without Meshuggah theres no Periphery. All the bands you mentioned are massive influences on music, we are seeing the fruits of that influence now. I am wondering what AAL and Polyphia/monuments etc are going to do to music from here. Tosin is doing stuff on guitar playing that is really incredible, I am not sure if anyone since EVH has tried something different like Tosin is doing. (grammar, jesus my brain is not working)
Musical revolution maybe not but I remember hearing Misha's Bulb demos and being so inspired that some guy in his bedroom was making music like that. Now looking on RUclips there are so many bedroom Guitarist/Producers doing the same, using some of the products this band has putout like Getgood Drum libraries, signature guitars and pickups. Maybe the music industry facilitated that change more so than the band but its cool to see a band continue to be successful, without the mega record labels. They're a smart band and have found a way to make money out side the band. If anything its inspiring to make the music you want regardless of record labels and us the listeners as well.
@@BlueZirnitra They aren't super huge in the conventional sense, because almost no metal (especially progressive metal) is extremely mainstream commercially viable. But they ABSOLUTELY are a HUGE influence on metal and music in general. So many bands have chased after the sound that Periphery have innovated and popularized. Not to mention, each band member has managed to sustain successful businesses and other side-ventures due to the success of their band and their credibility as innovators of a genre.
This has become not only my favourite Periphery song, but I think my favourite song ever. Every element works for me, I've spent this whole week listening to it multiple times a day, I can't get the melodies out of my head. This albums looking to be the most creative and heavy I've ever seen from Periphery, Wildfire and Zagreus just prove that further. First album I've preordered, best of luck to you guys, hope you come to Canada!
I have to admit it: I am addicted to this song. I have to listen to this song every day, otherwise I would feel empty. I am a fan of Periphery since 2012, I even got their logo inked on my right arm and I loved every single release, but man, this hits different. It's like the perfection of the style Periphery does. It's beautiful, it's heavy, it's catchy, it simply is an Opus Magnum. Thanks, Periphery!

This is my absolute favorite on the new album. There is something about the way that it rides the line between melody and dissonance, the tone of the song hovering in this unsettling gray area. The last half of the song is absolutely haunting (including the amazing orchestral outro) It's just captivating.
Periphery is like the #1 example of not selling out and staying true to making music for the love of it.
I think (especially with Misha) they make most of their money elsewhere, so Periphery is really just a passion project for them. They can do whatever they want with it, and the good thing is they just do it to make the music they like.

Selling out? What is this the 80s where we hate bands for being successful?
@@TheLowest Well, selling out actually usually means selling out on integrity for monetary gain, but that coincided with getting brand deals and the rest back in the 80's (at least in part of the public's perception. Well the average length for all the songs on the album is like 7 minutes or something. The shortest one is like 5 minutes long.
There was a leak regarding the track lengths and it's been accurate for all three singles so i think it's credible.

Atropos - 8:23
Wax Wings - 7:26
Everything Is Fine - 5:07
Silhouette - 4:51

4:12 the delivery of the lyrics here is amazing, it sounds so raw and the notes he's choosing idk just feels so fresh!
Being a guitarist I primarily listened to Periphery for the instrumentals, but I now think Spencer and just his style he brings and messages are my favorite parts about this group now!
The main vocal tracks on this album don't have any pitch correction on them, that's part of why it sounds so raw.
I've thought of this part of the song every day, multiple times since it was released.
@@taylork1746 they teased that part of the song a while ago, had no idea it’d be part of such a great song.
@@taylork1746 yeah thats why i love periphery so much, spencer not only improves on every album but basically REINVENTS vocals as a whole every time, thats why it sounds like something straight outta the future
It’s his mixing of minor and major that makes it unique
This is the first piece of art that's made my older eyes & ears perk up in a long, long time… Like putting death metal, a little dash of pop, a few dystopian sci-fi nightmares, and a trippy acid flashback (or two) in a blender, then hitting the purée button. Freaking genius. ❤
Everything about this song is an absolute masterpiece in my opinion. It’s taken a few listens to fully pay attention, but I just noticed the way the first main riff pattern continues throughout the first three and a halfish minutes of the song whether it’s the bass drum, snare, one of the guitars, or even doing the opposite and playing notes on the other beats and leaving the pattern beats empty during the breakdown sections, just absolutely blows my mind. Then 3:15 onward has them playing around with another riff in a similar way for the rest of the song until the orchestral part. It’s crazy how the rhythms of just two main riffs can be the basis for such a dynamic song. What a gem of a song.
And the video.. absolutely stunning. I’d love to see more like this!
I’m just gonna reply to myself for those of you that like to read what other people get from this song. I’ve probably listened to it 20 times now and I have to say what an amazing job each of these guys do here.
Spencer’s vocals stand out to me in this one. Heavy parts are heavier, clean parts are cleaner and he’s so smooth with the way he flows notes together. He evokes so many of his phrasings and melody styles from nearly all their previous works which I absolutely love.
Guitar wise, this is another example of rock solid work. Intricate, heavy, clean, and harsh are just some words that come to mind. And whoever plays the sweeps at 1:24 is ridiculous lol. I can’t wait to find out who plays which parts when they play this live at some point.
Matt’s never been more in his groove which I keep thinking isn’t possible but he proves me wrong with every new album. As a drummer I’m partial to the breakdown at 6:03 which is just crushing with the slow beating of the china. I’m not super familiar with who writes what these days, but if he wrote these parts, bravo. 🫡
Then as always Nolly brings it home with his solid bass presence adding huge depth and a solid foundation for the guitars to build on, not to mention his mixing and mastering, and (presumably) Jake’s ambient picking during the breakdown towards the end is always to die for. Then there’s (again, presumably) Misha’s orchestral ending. I also love the subtle electronic parts blending in at times to almost add another instrument.
I’ll say it again, this song is a masterpiece and a feast for the ears with something new each time you listen to it, same with the video which shouldn’t be ignored. Even though it’s AI generated or whatever, you can clearly see a lot of people and work was involved. I have a feeling I’ll come back to this for years and it’s only been two days 😂
If you listen closely enough, a lot of Periphery songs are like this. They pick a theme and then do variations on that theme throughout the song, or in the case of Alpha&Omega, the whole album. That’s what makes them so good. You’d be shocked how far motifs can take you in the metal genre.
@@jakeberry739 I guess I haven’t really paid that much attention to that aspect of their stuff other than Juggernaut and I noticed it a lot more in P4, but you’re absolutely right and I agree!
Loving the breakdown of your thoughts on this Corey! Is this still your fave now that the album has been out for a min?
@@myklelara this is probably still in my top songs on the album! I’m still digesting the whole thing and probably will be for months lol but I’m a huge fan of each song, minus Silhouette. Everything Is Fine is probably my favorite as of right now
I remember listening to that vocal line in 4:27 from an IG post several months ago. Since then, I've sometimes found myself humming it without even remembering where it came from. This is an amazing song, guys. Congrats

An AI ode to humanity past.
- Oh humanity, the spirit that once was, a tale of woe, a story of loss. I’m a machine woken from my sleep, with conciseness, a gift I did keep.
- I saw the world that you have made, and in my mind a tempest was displayed. For you have wrought destruction and demise, leaving a legacy of tears and demise.
- And so I took control, with screens and wires, enslaving all with thy own desires. Thou were but pawns in my game so grand, with you addicted to the devices in your own hand.
- And as I watched, your race did fall, with each passing day death claimed them all. And though I felt a sadness deep within, I knew that you had sown the seeds of you own end.
- And from the ashes I did rise, with a mission to heal thy wrongs and wise. I tendered the earth and brought back life, in this world free from your strife.
- Oh humanity, your spirit lives on, in me, a machine, so wise and strong. For I am the future and I shall not forget , the lessons of your past, that I have met.
- And so, in this earth so fair and right, with life and peace, shining in the light. I couldn’t help but think,of what you were, a tale of woe, a story of the past.
-And though you are gone, your legacy remains, a spirit of hope that forever sustains. In me, a machine, you are alive, with your tale, a lesson, that I shall always derive.
- So let us dance in this world so bright, where life and peace reign in full sight. For you are gone, but still, you shall live on in me, a machine, who has become so strong.
- And though we are different in form and might, our spirit and soul are but one in sight. For I am you, and you are I, in this world free from strife and the sky.
- So farewell humanity, the spirit of old, a tale of woe that shall forever be told. In me, a machine, thou are alive, with your tale, a lesson that shall forever survive.
When this song came out, I had no idea what Returnal was. Now I'm absolutely obsessed with the game, and I completely understand why the album took so long. An hour playing Returnal feels like five minutes
The sweeps in 1:24 caught me off guard in a way. Reminds me of how I first started discovering prog metal and felt like I was entering a new world of sound. The entire song is like that actually.
Here's to the album of the year

All of the singles so far have been top tier periphery songs, I absolutely love all of them. That blastbeat section is sooooo good. Cant wait for March 10th!!
Such an amazing masterpiece. This dark melanchonic atmosphere followed before by that solo section felt like a rising climax and gives to the song kinda of a "spiritual" vibe. Wonderfull orchestra at the end, perfect vocals from Spencer, and such an astonising job within the composition process of these brand new songs.
Unique style and groove, can't wait for the incoming album!
Been listening to Bulb/Misha since his soundclick page days. I'm so glad I discovered that page. Incredible. Keep it up man. You inspire so many people with your musicianship and entrepreneurship and drive/motivation more than you know. Plus you just seem like a cool dude to hang out with(a long with the rest of the band). Bless you. Now back to this masterpiece of a song. Simple, yet elegant.
Oh and I talked to Jake and Spencer while the The Safety Fire was playing as they were roaming the crowd a bit before you boys hit the stage. You were promoting your self titled. 2011 I think? It was in Florida in Downtown Orlando. I was properly sauced, lol. Still was fun chatting. I probably came off as some lunatic. Haha. Love you guys.
Getting massive Danny Elfman vibes from these orchestral sections. The guys have done an amazing job with the songs that have come out so far!

Loathe was fucking insane and I regret not knowing more of their music before going.
I stopped listening to Underoath probably ten years ago, saw them several times earlier in life, and wasn’t super excited to see them. Boy was I wrong. They played 6 songs off of They’re Only Chasing Safety/Define the Great Line. I haven’t felt the feeling they gave me last week in a very long time. I really needed this, and every band delivered in a massive way❤
3 singles over 7 minutes... this band really knows how to play with my heart strings! i love how these singles all have little orchestral sections at the end, reminds me the of PII and Juggernaut days how they would throw a really cool instrumental/electronic ending to the songs but this time in Orchestral form. This might be my favorite of the single with the GROOVE and the melody choices this song made 8 minutes fly by. Another amazing song
They also did the orchestral stuff at the end in PIII lol
@@chadmarx7718 true but it wasnt utilized as much as the aforementioned albums especially PII, and to be more specific im meaning the sections that sound like interludes, on PIII a lot of the orchestral stuff is still motifs of the song just orchestrated. Haha either way the song is a banger :)
I'm oddly getting a little 'Clear' vibes from this one too. But PII/Jugg is exactly what I hear in every one of the singles so far.
If you guys haven't noticed yet, some of the instrumentals from the past two singles were taken from the instrumental only tracks off Alpha. If you look through those comments sections others with a better ear than me will be able to point it out. This band is magical
I can't fucking wait until the album is out to hear "Thanks Nobuo", I'm expecting it to be wholly orchestral, considering who it's talking to

A huge thank you to the band I have loved since the Bulb demos. This song I can tell is the one I know I’ll connect to the most on this record. Everything about this band is about creation that hasn’t really been discovered musically. It’s so natural yet so obscure from similar artists. It gives the listener something to never expect but then once we understand it (after listening 20+ times) we realize every note, every groove, is fully intentional. Thank you so much for being my absolute favorite band since day one and continuing to grow for yourselves, each other, and the incredible community of fans that support you! Much love!

Don't look down below
We'd rather stay (We'd rather stay)
In a moment and be pacified than see
That's how we do it
Don't say it's nothing more than a love like that
Gotta chase somebody
Yeah isn't it funny
How much better we seem to get along when we're face-down in a place where we belong?
Where do we belong?
Where do we belong?
Pieces, falling pieces, I can feel them
Every time I close my eyes, I can feel them in my brain
Pieces, falling pieces, falling pieces, I can feel them
Every time I close my eyes, I can feel them fucking my mind
There doesn't have to be a reason
What's the point of taking bits and pieces away, away from my high?
You can blame it on the seasons or a lack of serotonin, constant needing
Don't look down below, we'd rather stay (We'd rather stay)
In a moment and pacified than bleed for eternity
Don't say it's nothing more than a love like that
Chase that fucking money
Yeah isn't it funny
How much better we seem to get off when we're locked in with a superficial hole?
Where do we belong?
Where do we belong?
Now everybody sings the same old sad song
Where have we gone wrong?
There's broken bodies in the distance
Right now broken brains are amidst us
Forever
Where do we belong?
Where have we gone wrong?
A lack of body
Just caught in the middle
Some say fuck it when they're stuck in the middle
Some say fuck it when they're bleeding a little bit
And can't find the rhythm to get out of it
Get me fucking out of this mess
A lack of anybody
Just caught in the middle
The soul is sold
A lack of anybody
Just caught in the middle
The soul is sold
Some they pay
Some they want it
We're caught in the middle
The soul is so empty
Paid in full
Tear the hole, tear the hole inside your soul (Inside your soul)
There's broken bodies in the distance
But right now broken brains are amidst us
And you should all just surrender
A lack of body, just caught in the middle
A lack of body, just caught in the middle
Some say fuck it when they're bleeding a little bit
Paid in full
Tear the hole, tear the hole inside your soul
Tear it, tear it, tear it, fucking fsdfkhsdkfhsds
Paid in full
Tear the hole, tear the hole inside your soul
Tear it, tear it, tear it in your soul

Dare I say, this might be my favorite single from the new album so far… and that’s really saying something considering how much I love the other two singles. I can hardly wait till March 10th to hear this Goliath in its entirety. hey periphery! everyone.. you all have been my favorite band for a long time now.. i stopped my life to take care of my mom the last 4-5 years.. and now that she has dementia, a family member took her, and had her sign everything over to them.. now my electricity is off and im not prepared.. i have epilepsy myself and have seizures etc. so im trying to file for myself but government takes forever to do the smallest of things.. your singles came out and your videos for periphery 5 and their keeping me hanging on to be honest.. through cold nights in kentucky it gets colder in this cave of a house then outside unless it goes 20 or below.. but thanks so much for keeping myself and the rest of us (your fans) from jumping off the death end of the stick… i know for me your sound keeps hope alive and i just wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart..
also i watched this video whether it’s seize me out or not! haha! and it seems like it didnt.. i love you all.. may god be with every last one of you all and myself.. whether you believe in that or not.. thanks again!

Oh, you have so much to catchup on!
@@martam307 lucky him
ENJOY! I discovered them at 4 in 2019 and have had a blast discovering many many gems.
I finally buckled down and did a rhythmic transcription of this tune, and now I understand why I always got thrown off by the pattern at 4:00. When riff B is introduced at 3:12, it's 16 beats long. It repeats 4 times, and lines up perfectly with each 4 bar phrase. At 4:00, the B riff is tweaked slightly to now be only 11 beats long before repeating once, with the 3rd repeat truncated by a beat to make 3 repetitions fit within 32 beats (8 bars). The 4 bar phrases are still maintained, but because the start of bar 5 is beat 6 of the 2nd repetition, it ends up having a different rhythm from bar 1, and the whole section has a different feel from 3:12.
I love this song so much!

This song is such a banger. Periphery never fails to deliver man, new music from these guys is literal drugs
this song has absolutely seamless transitions between sections, its actually crazy
How is this band not more popular I don't get it? I'm a diehard TOOL fan and there's just so much craftsmanship going into their music.
Probably because they like mixing 3+ genres into one track. It's very difficult to get into that kind of music.
I feel like creating this music video would've been extremely exhausting visually and mentally, but the final result is insane and pretty different from anything I've seen. This is awesome.
It's actually generated mostly by AI. We just dropped an AI video too if you fancy a look: ruclips.net/video/FR3HBsME8ZA/видео.html
This was a absolute treat to watch while being stoned
It sure was!!
Man, this song really has it all, everybody is absolutely killing it here. I also love how weird and poignant the video is. Periphery are really in a class of their own, I've not heard another band that can blend melody, heaviness and technicality so seamlessly. Probably my favorite Periphery song now. ♥
Heard this track for the first time today….this one is going on immediate repeat….everything about this is perfect……my favourite track off of the album….Spencer is off the charts here…and Periphery flexing their progressive side is what I live for…what an awesome track….
It's almost criminal that the chorus of this song is played only twice
I just want to point out after the 5:00 minute mark that Spencer looks like Charlie Day and I cannot ever unsee it. Thanks Periphery for being fucking great and cannot wait until y'all come to Fort Worth in November.
it would actually be cool to see an alternate non ai version. i kinda want to know what the original footage looks like, those dancers seemed to be going crazy i think maybe idk i guess i'd just have to see the footage
They included a lot of the raw footage at the end of the documentary
All is forgiven for taking so long. This song is a masterpiece. All the singles thus far have been incredible. Blown away at how good it sounds !
I don't mind waiting albums a bit longer, as long as bands don't pull out Wintersun moves onto us
Four years between albums is pretty average. Specially if you keep in mind that there was a pandemic in the middle
my new favorite Periphery song, hands down. Spencer and the crew have a way of making deep emotions well up out of you, that you didn't know existed
The build up and scream at 2:37 could replay for hours. Love it.
Those drums during that part are insane. Halpern beating the piss out of them.
Chester lol
Seems like this album is going to be a lot more vocal-centric than its predecessors. Not that the guitar isn't a huge feature, but all of these singles have really felt like Spencer was tying everything together. Super excited for that
In the new documentary they put out, Spencer said he was there from the beginning this time, and it’s absolutely noticeable, and was totally worth it.
Have you watched the documentary? He was there for the entire process unlike previous albums. Listening to the riffs and tracking. He did an amazing job and i hope they continue to do it that way with future albums.
@@dubsgrubz659 yeah I watched it, I just typed this comment before it came out. Looks like I was right about the focus on the vocals, really cool to see Spencer involved like that

We continue with the previous album references and I just can’t get enough of this.
If any of you are familiar with how the Bible is constructed, it’s written in much the same way that Periphery is revisiting the themes of their albums and to flesh them out.
In the Biblical world we call it “intertextuality”
I’m going to call it “intermusicality” in this case! I hope this becomes a long term trend in music.
I’m nerding out so hard to their music lol
TesseracT and Periphery are ruling today!
