I really like the way you do these reviews with a variety of tones and musical play rather than a lot of noodling around often seen/heard on other video reviews. This gives a much better snapshot of the overall sound. Thanks very much. I subbed for more goodness. :)
The neck pickup is okay, but that bridge pick ups sounds phenomenal, especially for that cheap, I'm surprised. I bought a squier toronado and was surprised with those pick ups, I was planning on swapping them out, but I'm gonna keep them or a bit. Squier has been killing it lately.
I bought one of these brand new back in January for the home rig and it's become my favourite guitar that also happens to be pretty cheap. Here in Canada at the shop I buy from this was $400 before tax.
Hi Rob/The Meat. Hope you're well. Really enjoying your videos. Would you recommend one of these for doing some mellow guitar layering on mostly acoustic guitar tracks? I currently have an Epi SG but I'm not sure if it gives me quite the right sound. Any thoughts? I'm also open to any suggestions for similar price range guitars, somewhere under £200 (inc second hand). Cheers!
This thing is great! I have one in a beautiful 3 tone sunburst and the weight, balance, and tone are great, especially for the price! I got mine for $240 and it’s amazing, I might replace the pickups but they do sound good so I don’t think it’s necessary. Good simple playing to show off the tone!
@@theguitarmanifesto Definitely! The simple black looks great though, it would really pop with white or cream humbuckers and switch tip! Also, the headstock can be sharpened into a spear or used as a blunt defense tool to defend yourself from drunken hordes at a bar gig
Absolute steal for £125 fair play. Haven't long started learning to try to play again after a long time. As much as i'd love a second guitar, think i best learn to play the one i already have before buying another or risk divorce lol. Thanks for sharing, only just found the channel so subscribed and will work through the previous videos, cheers.
It's a great guitar, yes for now stick with what you've get get used to playing. Ah awesome welcome to the channel, plenty of videos to keep you going 🤘🎸
Got mine about a month ago. Absolutely in love with it. My other guitars rarely get picked up. Lowered the pickups to about an inch (no kidding) below the strings for a sweet, mellow sound. I just dont like the amount of black. Might get some filtertron ripoffs to chuck in, but very happy as it is.
@@theguitarmanifesto I thought so too! It cuts through the mix nicely...its astonishing the great guitars that are being built these days and are soooo cheap!
Rock it Manifesto I love your original jams & sound man!! I dig that Guitar and really like that headstock love it Great video!! I like all the pickup settings I like the neck pickup the most it sounds great!!
Glad you dig the jams 🤘🎸 I really like this guitar looks so much better in the flesh and it's an offset. Would be interesting with a Jazzmaster vibrato
Love this backing track. Is that one of your own songs? Sounds mega! If I remember correctly you played it in one of the classic vibe vids too, right? :) And this guitar sounds great. Really interesting to hear a Fender semi hollow, kinda underrated guitar imo.
Thanks bro glad you digged it, yes it's one of my own jams 🤘🎸 I think I used it for the CV Mustang review video. It's definitely a very cool unique guitar and yes it is VERY underated 💯😎
@@theguitarmanifesto Really makes me want one. My wife randomly tells me that I should get the sunburst CV one lately. lol. But yeah they look really sharp.
Mine had some sharp frets but otherwise was perfect I got a special file to clean those up. I thought I would use it for jazz but its better for grunge and metal which I'll use it for instead.
The CV may be a bit nicer, but I much prefer the single volume/tone layout. Seriously tempted to get one and mod it. Locking tuners, a Bigsby of some kind, new pickups (not a fan of the open coil look),...
Lennart N: it's essentially the same guitar, but built slightly different for the Classic Vibe. this guitar was based on the 1960's semi hollow Fender tried tapping into the Epiphone and Gibson market back then, but it didn't quite take off like the others at the time. the Affinity version is a modern take, the pickups have a modern kinda sound, the Classic Vibe version has that early 335 and 339 sort of sound. there both nice in there own way, but im kinda surprised Fender didn't make a player series version or American Performer. it's only available with Squier.
@@Jeymez Thanks for the input. I found a really good deal on a Squier Cyclone so my G.A.S. is cured for now. There used to be a Mexican Starcaster back around 2013, but since then indeed nothing Fender.
I've NEVER seen the black one but I've got the sparkle candy 🍎 red and it's awesome guitar but the pickups are a bit in the hot side and I like vintage ALNICO paf humbuckers because they have twangy dynamics that I love feeling and hearing when I play !
I’ve been soooo tempted for so long for this one.
Go for it I was more than Impressed with it, really nice feel and sound to it 🎸💯
Ordered mine used today in the burst

Sounds like this guitar is what you're looking for, definitely recommended from me

Also makes for a great shoe horn 😂 few little custom tweaks they can look very cool 🎸💯
That looks like a *perfect* first guitar for an aspiring young punk rocker!
Right, people tend to use Semi-hollows for punk, that’s sick!

Great guitar for some cool mods
Nice playing Rob, great video 👍
Thank you, glad you liked the video 🎸😎
Bridge pickup is my favorite 🤟RAWK!🤟
Has a nice bite 💯🎸👌😎

I was always curious about them. They look pretty cool!
Yeah,same here!
Me too, actually a very impressive guitar 🎸🤘
Top quality video again!
How does it stack against the CV version of this guitar?
Thanks dude, not played one yet
9 months late but I heard someone say they’re almost identical apart from the finished neck on the classic vibe
The pickups will be different bone nut etc
Very enjoyable playing and review. Thanks.
Thank you glad you enjoyed the review 🎸😎

I just ordered one in black like yours. I can't wait to get my mitts on it.
mate its a guaranteed banger every time loving the demos
Glad you dig the videos 😊
Very interesting unusual guitar
It sure is one of a kind 🎸👌
Really useful review, thank you
Glad the video helped 🎸😎
How loud does it sound without using amp, as an acoustic guitar?
It’s a bit louder than your standard solid body electric but not by a lot
Damn that was a whole jam 👏🏻
🤘 Rock on 🔥🎸
Another awesome review🤘🔥
Thank you very much, glad you enjoyed the video 🎸🤘😎💯
Gf picked one up yesterday and I think it's a fantastic guitar for the price.
Got men one too. In red. Good deal at Bax. Love it.
Nice video Rob, You should do a cheap pickups vs expensive pickups video
Offset ES style. I dig it, even the headstock is cool in a baby shark sort of way.😁 Btw Rob, you're looking leaner and meaner! 👍🤘😎
Yeah man I'm digging it 🎸👌 thanks for saying I've lost 1 half stone since the new year, feeling fresh 💯💪
Just got the same one. I’m digging the headstock, I don’t get the hate lol
It's pretty cool I say 💯😎🎸👌
Fender released the Starcaster after buying out Microfrets. The current Starcaster is a copy of a Microfrets Spacetone.
Never heard of that guitar, but looking at pictures there doesn't seem to be much resemblance at all.
Sound great!
Rock on 💯🎸😎🤘
Sounded Fah Ken sick bro. Starcastors are bad ass.
I was always unsure about them but man it kick ass great playing neck, the body is awesome resonates nicely

The CV ones look awesome
@@theguitarmanifesto They really do. They’re too many guitars that I always want lol
😂😂 squier are sure making life difficult right now
What song are you playing?
One of my own jams 🎸🤘
Nice review, thx
Still deciding between this and semi-hollow squire tele, does it twang?
_SIR, PLEASE DON'T POINT THAT THING AT ME_
Watch your eyes 😂😮
🤣
Looks great
That guitar sound insane
It's got some decent pickups
Sounds good Rob but that headstock has got to go.
😂 I know it's not to everyone's tastes
It could be cut to a tele pattern a put a new decal on it. Just saying fiddle is cheap enough

What were your likes and dislikes?
I have an identical one and I really enjoy it
All like I have no dislikes it's a great guitar 🎸
@@theguitarmanifesto good to hear, so far Iv got no complaints as well.
Just a badass guitar
Mmm I think you found its sweet tone for sure.
Heck yeah 👌🎸💯😎
Bridge pickup, felt like the Starcaster was screaming....in a good way
Oh yes 🎸☑️

I hope it fits in a standard ES-335 case.
Just ordered 1 from Sweetwater in Candy Apple Red.
Ooh nice choice 🎸👌
I think ive got my mind set on the candy red 1 looks amazing
👌👌👌👌👍👍👍👍👍
Shout out

We should write a song together.
The Epiphone sounds better with the distortion .
Most semi-hollow guitars have a arch toptions.
Good to be different 👌
Good guitar but I could never get past the headstock that looks like a 👞
Some refined woodwork shaping could fix that 😂👌
@@theguitarmanifesto True my friend

not as clean when i bought mine, i put zw 51 and 58 emgs an it sounds amazing
