I personally love budget guitars, especially Squires. The classic vibes punch way above their weight class. I will be getting the walnut version. Itll be my 4th Squire.
@@noire1991 no it means you will retain its value as long as you own it. Budget guitars you’ll lose half your money or just be stuck with a room full of Chinese guitars!
Following my comments - I have one, put through a Boss Katana on the clean panel with, surprisingly my T Rex Acoustic Soulmate Pedal board, it sounds stunning

The Fender reissue Starcaster are made in China, the Squier are made in Indonesia and I think Indonesia makes better guitars because they are great with wood and have been making metal guitars for years so I wouldn't be surprised if the best craftsmen work for Squier.
Can you explain what you meant when you showed how only the bridge pickup worked when you fiddled with the volume knobs at 8:45? Is it a defect of the guitar?
My local shop recommended I looked at this as someone used to acoustic but wanting quieter practice. Thing is - will be be quiet enough if I keep the door shut to practice with the family sleeping??
I had the Fender version sold it like the big dummy I am I've wanted another one ever since the Squire version is a possibility now since I now only play for my own gratification
I had one with coil tapping humbuckers it was pretty nice at the time it cost me in the 500 dollar range brand new but Squire has gotten a lot better so it seems worth a look thanks again
Squire will take you higher 👆 🔥 butternasty tones 🎶 I have one of these. It is by far my fav guitar out of the many guitars I have. It is a absolute monster beast maestro 🎉❤
As a Helix owner I find a guitar demo’d through modelers to be extremely dubious. I mean those things are capable of severely nullifying and bastardizing the DNA of a guitar. A real amp offers up a more common and honest tone IMO.
@@DarrenLockMusic well it’s arguable. You’re kind of taking cheap jabs at me rather than discussing it. Whatever. Intelligent conversation on the internet? Where?!

Sad thing is they have no resale value. I have mainly American guitars because they keep and gain in value.
@@thirdgearband but you cannot be buying guitars based on resale value that means you already decided you are selling it before you even bought it

I have 7 squires including this one
It feels great sounds pretty good … really fun to play
I just love the look of it, plus Leo Nocentelli of the Meters played one!
Got one after watching this. Thanks for the review! Really liking it so far

Nice! Love hearing this with some dirt. Been wanting one to use in my stoner metal and desert rock band, so low tuned fuzzy grungy tones

Hi Darren what equipment did you use? Great review. Thank you.
I don’t use any amps or mics or anything. This is the guitar DI’d into my computer interface using Positive Grid’s BIAS FX 2.
@@DarrenLockMusicIt sounds very good. Thank you
You’re welcome! 👍
Really beautiful Darren -it looks expensive -sounds great!
I've got this exact model coming in a few days. Very eagerly awaiting.
You’ll love it! 👍
They are awesome guitars …
What a brilliant review - I am going to get one. was thinking about the classic vibe 60's start but the shas changed my mind. Cheers
Glad you enjoyed it! 👍
This is one of my favorite guitars man, how are you enjoying it?
A nice way to get into semis! Sounds fantastic!
just got one of these, been doing a lot of research and this is by far the best review and playing i’ve heard with it so far
That’s very kind of you to say. Here I am composing with the Starcaster. ruclips.net/video/P39sIzeWMlw/видео.html
I tried one of the Fender ones a few years ago and absolutely hated it :( Might give the squier a try
I was surprised how good mine is. Very easy on my fingers, which is what I need these days with all the aches and pains I get in me digits.

@@jrp5787 I agree when I tried the squier it just had a nicer overall feel.
The cancer warning sounds like the one required by the state of California on nearly everything.
Should have put Trump on that warning
@@stevesarah I guess we can now blame him for cancer causing guitars, quite a stretch.
The cancer warning scares me
You’ll be OK as long as you don’t lick it...
I laugh at my own jokes. Somebody has to.
Ha...ha!
Awesome video thinking about grabbing one. Any recommendations on a case that fits and won’t break the bank
I hear one that fits a 335 will work
Thanks for this video. Great sound quality! :-) Great guitar!
Glad you like it! 👍
i like the classic vibe series they really feel better and more old then the mexicos
They are very good! 👍
Looks and sounds like a cool guitar
Can you explain what you meant when you showed how only the bridge pickup worked when you fiddled with the volume knobs at 8:45? Is it a defect of the guitar?
No defect. I was just confused how the pickup switching worked. 😬
@@DarrenLockMusic Ah, okay. Thanks! I'm thinking of picking one of these bad boys up soon.
For the money, they represent insane value...all the Squiers I've tried recently are easily comparable with Mexican Fenders, if not better.
@@DarrenLockMusic Wow, that's great praise as far as I'm concerned. I have a Fender Player Series P Bass that I absolutely love.
Hi , nice video !! Can you tell me more about how have you recorded your guitar (ampli or multi fx , IR or whatelse ? )
Guitar plugged into audio interface, Bias FX 2 running in an audio strip inside Logic Pro X. Simple as that...
Darren Lock so will I have to wash my hands after every time I play?
8:25 - Ha! You can’t do that kill switch thingy with a vintage Fender Starcaster.
I have a Fender Starcaster Bass in a sunburst something like this. Would really like to get this and have them both on stage.
Great Demo. Thanks.
Glad it was useful to you!

Yes, if you’re picking. Strumming might be a bit loud!

Really nice guitar enjoy !!!.
Excited to try a maple one this month 😋
Oooh, some of the maple ones have some nice figuring on them, keep an eye out for it! 👍
Skirted Knobs and Fanny Packs, LMAO !
Is that the name of your band? 😬

Well worth the money! 👍
Good review but it would be much better it you actually checked this guitar closely before recording this video.
I only read as far as “good review”… I’m old enough to stop at “but”… 😂😂😂
Forgot to ask -did it come with a case?
No case. Just a cardboard box!
Think you might go with the tremolo mod?
I’m thinking about it. If it happens, I’ll make a video about it.
Looking very very nice!!!Wauw
Bad comments are about poor wireing and bad switch.
The switches on Squier guitars are always the weak spots.
cool

I like everything except the headstock
Yeah, the different tends to scare people, but it balances the guitar perfectly.
I saw a video here where the guy trimmed the head stock just below the words were changed too
Looked much better
Sorry I can’t find a link

Is there an animal snoring?
