Yokozuna was a big man. It's crazy seeing all the videos with Owen Hart R.I.P.

Fun Facts
1993:
This was Mean Gene Okerlund's last show before leaving for WCW but his interviews were only on the Coliseum Video version, specifically after the Shawn/Perfect & Bret/Lawler matches. As for his replacement, Joe Fowler, he lasted almost three months and was gone before Survivor Series.
This was the first PPV with a Radio WWF broadcast with Jim Ross & Gorilla Monsoon on commentary (as seen on screen one time). Hopefully someone uploads some of that one day like someone else did a few years back with the first two matches of Royal Rumble 94.
They were really dragging Yokozuna getting knocked out because the Coliseum Video version had a bit where Todd Pettengill came out minutes later and Jim Cornette verbally blasted him for it comparing him to a tabloid reporter. This bit was weirdly placed on the tape as it was shown after the PO Box screen and not before it like on other PPVs they put out back then.
Unrelated but this was the same venue where Luger beat Hogan to win the WCW World title on Nitro in 97 and I like to pretend that was done as a sort of "Screw You" for the finish of this Summerslam. I know it doesn't hold up since Hogan quickly won it back but it sure was a moment.
1994
The Coliseum Video version had a few cool things:
-Highlights from a charity softball game with Gorilla Monsoon narrating to start the tape.
-Promos with Razor Ramon before the match and Diesel & Shawn after the match. If you ever came across it, this was where Kevin's "What A Pittance" line came from.
This Summerslam holds up a lot better for me despite being a 3 match show (or 4 depending on my mood with Taker/Faker), Bret/Owen cage match was great, Diesel/Razor was okay too. Blayze/Nakano was so good that the first time I saw it, I got pissed because the guy I originally bought the tape from cut out both this match and Blayze/Faye from 95 for whatever reason (I forget exactly why but I recall him implying he didn't care for them).
I am really loving your fun facts!!! thank you for adding these! I look forward to seeing some more!!!
Great review. Bret Hart was putting extra pressure on the Sharpshooter. It was revenge for Lawler injuring him at King of the Ring.
yes i thought back to that too!
Great job on this
Thank you! Cheers!
Great video! I didnt know Owen Hart competed for the WWF championship! I think that Undertaker vs Undertaker match was for the kids to fool the children 😅 I enjoyed watching!
Thanks Michael!!!
@@DeniseSalcedo You're very welcome!
Undertaker vs Undertaker: I was a kid when this happened and I can tell you from being there that this was everything. Looking at it now it's ridiculous but, as a kid, this was awesome. We didn't have the internet and high definition back then so it was easier to pull stuff off like this. We didn't see the real Undertaker until this match so we couldn't see that he was taller and the beard and the obvious difference. So they told me that there were 2 Undertakers and I was like "Yep, I love this". Good times.
AWWWW I LOVE THIS!!!! trust me i had my moments as a kid once i started watching where I believed the craziest things LOL
@@DeniseSalcedo his comment is true it was clear as day the difference but is like my eyes were close when watching the match that took me time to recognize the original one
Happy Wednesday Denise 😊 I hope you're having an amazing day! Also great video I truly enjoyed it a lot!
Thanks Willie! I am! I just started watching 1998 SS. Hoping to knock out a few today,. Hope you are well!
Denise, I'm loving these reviews! Excited for the rest!
Yay! Thank you! More to come!
i agree the beerhage put me to sleep every time i see it in match 😅
lol
Awesome Review Denies! I'm totally loving your SummerSlam reviews I hope you consider doing the same thing with Survivor Series later in the Fall
Thank you Maria! I think the next one I will do is Royal Rumble still havent decided though
Perhaps the greatest steel cage match in WWE history, a masterpiece! Psychology, storyline, drama, suspense it had it all!
Really enjoying these! 93-95 was a rough time for the WWF...but this was my childhood right here! Lex Luger was a huge miss to me as Mr. USA.
As the story goes, Vince got cold feet the day of SummerSlam 93 and didn't want to crown Lex as champion which makes the celebration itself that much more ridiculous.
Thanks for sharing this!
Denise I Say that you’re more wrestling fan than I am by far lol you’ve actually watched every single summer slam and then talk about it. Oh my goodness you are the hardest working person, not just woman but person in wrestling
SummerSlam 93 was one to forget. One of the worst finishes to a main event.
SummerSlam 94 was decent, Bret vs Owen in a cage match was my favorite.
Bret vs Owen was incredible!!!
SummerSlam 1993! Infamous for Lugar winning the match but not the WWE championship when we knew he rightfully should have. Vince built him up to be this amazing specimen to defeat the unstoppable Yomozuna only to kill it with that ending. First off, Vince wanted Lex to be that top guy to replace Hogan after he jumped ship to WCW. It started with Lex body slamming Yoko on the USS Intrepid, then somehow it all ended here with this 1993 SS match. Lex was never the same guy in WWE. As to wonder why he ended up going back to WCW a couple years later.
Great Review on the Bret vs Owen match! It's my favorite Cage match. ❤
to be honest when rewatching undertaker vs undertaker could not tell who was the original for a while it was weird cause no one can be undertaker
Taker v Taker was a great gimmick match that really benefitted from standard definition television and while, yeah, seeing them face to face makes it really obvious which is the real McCoy, Brian Lee (who would come back as Chainz) was often confused for the Undertaker in real life and was the best man at one of Taker's weddings.
I imagine it was changed because of DiBiase's health issues that eventually caused him to retire from in-ring activity, but SummerSlam 93 was originally advertised with 1-2-3 Kid and Razor Ramon vs Money Inc rather than two separate matches.
Brian was wrestling at Cornette's SMW at the time and when he was brought in to be Underfaker, he had to dye his hair since it was blonde before. I don't remember if it was acknowledged on their show but it was noticeable since he was a regular there and in a big program with Chris Candido & Tammy against the Rock & Roll Express at the time.
I love hearing everyone's thoughts on the Taker vs Taker match!
You’re an inspiration to me as a wrestling RUclipsr. Your sunshine in a sea of toxicity makes me want to continue even when the toxic comments get to me
Thank you so much for the kind words! I know its hard to ignore the mean comments, it's never easy but just know it happens to everyone and it does get better.
Hi denise i been waiting for this all day
omg this means alot to me thanks!
Undertaker said Giant Gonazlez made The Great Khali look like Lou Thesz. He did not have fun with Giant Gonzalez.
i can't imagine he did LOL
Great video enjoyed it a lot.
Awesome, thank you!
great video
Thanks!
Shawn Michaels vs Mr perfect could have been much better but still put a classic together but the finish was what i did not like
the chemistry between Bret and owen was on other level there WrestleMania 10 match maybe the greatest WrestleMania opener of all time the SummerSlam one to me top it is sad owen legacy don't get the enough respect from wwe
best brother vs brother feud ever!
@@DeniseSalcedo yeah Jeff vs Matt was good but not even close as for jey vs jimmy enough to know they had the worse match on WrestleMania this Year that's all i have to say about that one
Agreed on the Lex v. Yoko finish. I hated it
so bad LOL
Happy Hump Day, Denise
hey!!!!
Keep in mind Bret and Owen had a nearly 4 year feud.
Put the Bam Bam back in your Bigelow
i might have to steal this line LOL
I have been a fan of the wwf since 1997 the very first time I saw summer slam was the classic match between stone cold Steve Austin versus Owen Hart and Bret hart versus the undertaker I got goosebumps I am very thankful I have been a fan ever since the attitude era throw 2024 you should check out!
Thanks for watching Ronald!
SummerSlam 1994. You can tell how far down the totem pole Lex fell after a year. Horrible to see from a really great talent. This was a far better show than the previous year. Taker vs Taker match was trash. Hey, this Deadman will admit to that. Lol. Bret vs Owen was a classic to rewatch. Especially with the beat down afterwards.
Yokozuna is very good wrestler and R.I.P
Undertaker vs Undertaker... that's very ridiculously.
I think women prefer a giant Gonzales for sure, bro 💪
Nope. Real life isn’t pr0n.
lol
Good Morning Denise
Good morning!!!!!!!
👍👍👍👍👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for watching!!!
I miss Owen Hart, Yokozuna, Mr. Perfect 😢
But is Taker v Taker better than Taker v Goldberg?
HAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHHA oh man
Yo What's Up Denise
heyyyyy!
Hey it funny u say u hate bearings do u remember on sd the rise of brock lesner he beat hogan with a bear hug that was weird I believe that was Bruno sammartino finisher lol
I am forever anti bear hug now LOL
@@DeniseSalcedo lol I agree it is boring move lol
Aew #1
These blue chew ads are taking me out. 😊
YASSSSSSSS
did you do this for bret hart you Dud your hair for him
I am not a fan of Lex luger Because.
He's responsible for miss Elizabeth dying He gave her drugs and painkillers and it mixed together and killed her and he's responsible for it
Happy Wednesday Denise
