That’s exactly what it is, Robert Kirkman loves superheroes and made the Invincible comics with that in mind.
If you think the boys show is bad for hating superheroes then look at the comics, that guy has such a hate boner for superheroes he makes all of them pedophiles, rapists and baby eaters

This is true, even the creator of the OG "The Boys" comic had admitted that he hated current hero tropes and The Boys was an outlet to make fun of that (while being as edgy as possible)
Meanwhile the original comics for Invincible are from someone who worked with marvel and DC prominently, it's a celebration of what heros *could* be

Notice how Mark, Omni-man and Debbie all have identically swollen eyes, signifying they all share a mutual pain. Absolutely wonderful writing.

It feels so genuine and raw at times that it doesn’t even feel like people voice acting; it feels like actual people that were a fly on a wall to their lives. It really is. I also liked the villain. Angstrom Levy is a very compelling villain. Levy seemed like a truly good person that wanted to help not only his world but many, many, many others. In most universes, he seems to be the good guy while Mark is more often the bad guy. Levy even saved Mark's life when he took the helmet off. If he did not, the Maulers would have beat him to death. Even when he was in the middle of accomplishing his ultimate goal, Angstrom cared about someone trying to stop him enough to try and save that person's life. But when he got the memories of all his alternate selves combined with the pain and disfigurement he is suffering through, he was consumed with hatred for Mark and became the villain to destroy an actual good Mark. Keep in mind that in most dimensions, Mark actually ends up siding with his father to take over the Earth, so Angstrom has a lot of memories of Mark doing terrible things.

I love Cecil’s character because he’s the stereotypical “cold calculating shadow government operative orchestrating things behind the scenes” character, but in a subversion of that archetype he actually does care.
He’s often an asshole because he has to be. He often makes “deals with the devil” for the greater good. But unlike most characters like Cecil who will do all these morally questionable things and use serving the greater good as an excuse, he actually is sincere. Cecil sincerely is trying to protect the world, and he does sincerely care about people. He is patient, understanding, and as charitable as he possibly can be to both Mark and Debbie once it’s revealed who Omni-Man really is, repeatedly going out of his way to make things as easy and comfortable for them as possible, and even encouraging Mark to stay out of the superhero game until he’s had proper time to process and recover. He clearly regrets it when he has to put people who aren’t ready in a position where they are in danger. He only makes someone do something when they genuinely HAVE to do it. And when he does make these moral compromises you can tell he has personal reservations about it but is logically still going with it (he lets the freaky cyborg making guy keep making the cyborgs BUT he talks to him like he’s a monstrous piece of shit AND makes it so he is no longer doing the procedure on innocent living people).
I think that’s a really cool idea to make this type of character but give him a genuine reasonable moral compass that is simply subverted by a sincere need to compromise morals to adapt to an impossible situation, but that moral compass still remains intact when the moment doesn’t require a moral compromise.

My main problem with that is that some characters doesn't deserve redemption arcs. Omniman being one of them. He straight up murders a bunch of people and what? The world is suppose to forgive him? Maruem too. There are actions you cannot come back from. That is the main point for not wanting to watch Invincible.

He may be able to prove that he’s no longer a bad person, but he probably won’t just be able to come back like nothing happened, especially since debbie has had her whole arc. It also helps that he basically went through the space equivalent of the hitler youth.

Thing I love about invincible is the depths the show/comic goes to, it asks alot of questions about the morality and value of being hero to a degree where they come to the conclusion that being a super hero is kinda a misuse of super powers. It asks thought provoking questions and answers them.

There's so much nuance and depth to all the characters' and their arcs. Spoiler:
They even foreshadow and justify why Debbie is willing to take in and raise Oliver. She clearly misses Mark, is exhibiting signs of 'empty nest syndrome', and the aftermath of season 1 has left her feeling weak, and not helpless. Even though it seems unrealistic that she'd agree to raise Nolan's alien child, they build up really, really well how attached she gets to him, and show just how much he looks like Mark.
When Mark battles and beats Angstrom, the whole exchange ends up showing that Mark's resistance to ending anyone else's life isn't really because of his principals. It's become compulsive for him. He goes way beyond what any normal person would have done to try and avoid ending Angstrom, because Mark is so terrified from what he's seen of his father and the Viltrumites. He doesn't want to be like them. But, when Angstrom finally flips that switch, Mark goes gorilla mode and shows no hesitation in what he does. Angstrom wanted to prove that Mark was a bad guy. He didn't do that. But he did show Mark Greyson that he's not as good as he thinks. It's such incredibly strong character writing that has so much depth and symbolism.

When I look at superhero media I always put those superheroes in three categories: Children’s superhero, major superhero and dark superhero. And Invincible is definitely a dark superhero but in a good way and I see it like this:
Invincible tackles the emotional impact of superheroes.
And stuff like The Boys and Watchmen tackles the social impact of superheroes.
And other movies like Hancock or Irredeemable tackle the physical impact of superheroes.
They all have something to say and bring to the table of what kind of story they want to tell and that’s amazing considering the fact that some of these stories have some of the same beats or characters.

I love this show so much, disregarding the mid-season break which I can't lie was definitely annoying but I understand why they did it, it's just such a well written and enticing story (with a big part thanks to the comics) and just genuinely seems like everyone involved genuinely loves the story. Even the time where the animators/writers hinted towards why the season took so long in the Comicon scene doesn't feel like they were doing it to spite the viewer or to justify it, but rather to be honest to the fans why it's taking so long and what they do behind the scenes to make sure it can be as high quality as possible and released fast for the viewers.
You can genuinely feel just how much this team loves the show.
