G'day Sootch, You turned me on to the Olight S10 way back and I've been a regular Olight customer ever since. Now there's an S10R in all of my kits and I keep an S20R in my vehicle. Now Olight is down here in Australia and when one of my old S10s suddenly stopped working (without being dropped or anything) I sent it to them and it was replaced no questions asked. Last week there was a 15% discount deal on the S1R II and, of course, I got one. In time they will probably replace all my old S10s in my kits but for now they are still going strong. Thanks, heaps, Sootch, probably your best gear recommendation to date! Cheers, BH.
I bought my Olight PL-mini Valkyrie and M2 Warrior because of your reviews Sootch00. I absolutely love them and i appreciate you telling me about their awesome products. I told all my family and friends about Olight products and your channels. Thanks for everything and long live the republic bro.
Great review! Thank you very much for checking this out. I have been on the fence with this Olight or the Rovy one. I just like the "beefiness" of the Olight but i also like the compactness of the Rovy. God Bless and thank you for being a Patriot!
I just got a rechargeable CR123 battery in the mail today for my Baton by O Light. It's my EDC and best flashlight I own. Bought it off this channel during a flash sale. Thanks for turning me on to it.
Nice light that is a daily carry for me. One point about changing brightness levels: with the light on, pressing and holding the switch causes mine to cycle levels, but only through 3 modes (low-medium-high). The manual says it should cycle through 4 modes (moon-low-medium-high). No big deal, as its easy to access moonlight mode with a press and hold with the flashlight off. Just wondering if the manual is wrong or if mine is not functioning as advertised.
I got my wife the s1 mini a few months ago she loves it. She accidentally forgot it in her pants and washed it and dried it when doing laundry and it still works fine
Did you ever have issues with the light not turning on and you'd have to remove and re-insert the battery? I have that issue and it's the only gripe I have with the original S1R.
Great video to watch. Just ordered this in amazon uk. I do like the small torches and I totally love the Olight seeker 2 flashlight and that's insanely bright at 3000 L. The i1r 2 keychain flashlight is tiny and yet it's so bright. Olight makes the best flashlights in the business. This review is so good to watch and know the features before you get this tiny flashlight. I hope Olight makes Turbo longer as that would be awesome. Thanks for review!
I bought the first S1R in 2016 or 17 i forgot , as engineer onboard im using it everyday when i work until yesterday one of my crew dumped the rust debris overboard and my Olight inside that small bucket. Bye 👋 S1R... now looking for replacement.
I just got my S1R 2 to replace my original S1R, great little light. Such a great light in fact, I had to replace the original because someone stole it.
I bought this light during their flash sale. I really like the light, the new texturing is really grippy compared to the S1R. The only thing I didn’t care for is the pocket clip is not as strong as the S1R. I wish they would have used the same pocket clip and reversed it for bezel down carry.
To make sure the button on the side is an accidentally pushed I slide the pocket clip around to cover the button... If I need to activate the switch I can easily slide the pocket clip to the side and hit the switch this prevents accidental activation of the light in my pocket
I still use mine. I had to buy a new battery for it recently. I have the copper edition. I did clean it so it looks brand new. But honestly it looked so good when it was all oxidized and green color to it 😅
I have one too! Great light. Only complaint is that If you get metal across the metal switch on the tail it can freak out. Working in a fab/ machine shop all the metal airborne particles get stuck to the tail switch and cause a short :/ Need another smaller more compact light for work. Any excuse to buy another!
I bought this exact light a couple months ago and love it. However, I somehow lost the pocket clip and just ordered another one for $3.95. No complaints about the light though. Lots of power for such a small light!!
The Emisar D4 XP-L HI with short body tube is smaller... using a Vapecell 18350 battery it puts out a REAL 4000 lumens, infinitely variable output another great EDC flashlight.
My s1r soft touch button wore all the way through never replaced it still it have it with the button pretty much gone can turn it on with a pick I upgraded to s10r baton 2 with a hard button and this thing is kicking strong debating on upgrading again to the one in this vid I like the charger I wonder if it will work on my s10r??
@5:50 mark those numbers aren't what Olight's tech details say on their website. 600 lumens should be 1.5 minutes and then drops to 300 lumens for 45 minutes. Also, turbo is only 1.5 minutes at 1000 lumens and then dropping to 300 lumens for 37 minutes. This is the reason why I'll stick to other brands. The people who buy Olight tend to over exaggerate the tech specs when recommending them to people who don't understand how they actually work. Then those who buy them based off false information are usually disappointed in the runtime of these cheap Chinese lights. This is not a knock on you Don. I really enjoy your reviews. I just wish people would call it like it is.
I've never met anyone disappointed in their Olight, and I'm guessing you've never owned one. I own several SureFire lights (including an M600DF with pressure pad), and a few Streamlights, and I absolutely adore my Olights. All high output lights step down, but go ahead "sTiCK wiTh oTHeR BRaNDs".
Great Review ! i'm a huge fan of Olight since i've bought T20 digital model from 2013. actually my best friend is M10 Maverick in this time. it is very well balanced flashlight in this genre. so in my opinion this S1R ii is cannot beat M10 yet but still useful tool if you looking for EDC Light with reliability.
Yea my exact concern. I haven't bought a light yet but almost considering getting a previous version with the 300 lm spot to pick. I would like something in between 60 and 600! And I don't want to keep hitting 600 waiting for it to drop to 300. Killing battery etc
@@SimplifiedTruth I ended up just getting a tan one of these. Originally I was looking for a work light though. I'm an autobody tech. I purchased one during the sale and I love it except for one thing! When. I put my tounge on the tail cap like you would a 9v battery I get a slight tingle, does that mean that it will discharge itself when it's stuck to metal for a long period?
do you have an issues with the light being shorted out by a metal object in your pocket with this light? (maybe change or whatever). you said that you had the s1r light as well; did you have any issues with it and a metal object in your pocket?
Does anyone know if the magnet is strong enough to mess up other electronics? I.e phones, radios, or credit cards? I recently bought this on sale and I really like it so far, but I'm hesitant to carry it in the same pocket as my phone for example. Nice video!
With the new baton 3 these runtimes are laughable, but I still have my sr1 2's they still work great and will never get rid of them, I have confirmed that the baton 3 on the med setting at 60 lumens runs closer to 8 hours then what Olight claims a 7.5 hour on 60, baton 3 has almost doubled the run times on all the settings and now 1200 lumens what's not to love. I will say though out all my lights the eagtac dc3 clicky has the whitest tint period, for only 800 lumens it is just as bright as my baton 3 on turbo, although I can't speak for the longevity of the DC3 yet because I have never dropped it and only had it for about two years so far it is a impressive torch with no issues.
Cant decide between this one (the S1R II) and the S10R III. Other than the higher lumen output on this one, the run times seem much shorter than the S10R III. Am I missing something?
#1: Is the main difference between this and the M2R warrior the extra 500 lumens? #2) Will the charger that came with my M2r work with this? #3) Is there a holster for this one or will the m2r Warrior holster fit it?
I'm sure this would fit in the warrior holster but you would have to flip it upside down and shake it to get this tiny light out of it. This light is meant to clip to the inside of your pocket/watch pocket or lay in the bottom of your pocket. This is just a super powerful tiny edc light where the warrior is like 3x the length and thicker then this.
