I will never forget the time that I was a witness to my mother, slapping my father, and it had to do with me. Like I tell people off and on that are from Florida. I was a Pensacola Florida accident.
My father had been a Navy captain during the war, and during the Korean War, and soon he would be getting out of the Navy and retiring. When he was at his duty station in Pensacola as a flight instructor he met my future mother.
And they were dating. If you check into this what I say next you will find out that it’s the truth. They wanted to film The movie, an Officer, and a gentleman In Pensacola.
But the mayor. Any other city fathers stop them because they didn’t like the way the movie portrayed the local women as being hungry for officers. Well, it was true especially during that time. Back then.
And from the 1940s all the way up through the 60s certain women raise their daughters to marry one type of man only. A navy military pilot. An Officer. That was my mother.
She had the looks, that was no problem. She had won, miss Pensacola beach 🏖️ for example. My father had no intentions of staying in Florida. He never liked it because he was born and raised in, NW Montana.
He always said Florida was horrible because of such excessive heat and humidity. I, like my father, I can take the cold much better than I can the heat and humidity when I’m in Florida.
I have to have the air conditioner on 65. And then I don’t go outside much. And I count the days until I can leave to go back to Montana. 5 miles from the Canadian Border.
Where the summer nights drop down into the low 50s every night. Anyway, she got pregnant and they got married and stayed married until he died. He also came from a family that to this day, owns a decent sizable spread because of my great grandfather, and what he did to get the land.
Also, my family to this day has owned a sizable logging company. 92 employees. They had got into an argument when we were down in Pensacola because over the years so my Mom could always be close to her family, They bought a house in a little town across the bay bridge call Gulf breeze on Highpoint Drive.
And I will never forget my age when it happened. I was 12 years old. And it had to do once again with THE AC. Being set on 65. And it started when he said,
if you wouldn’t of got pregnant and roped me in, which is exactly what you did because you knew I had no intentions of staying down here in this humid hell hole!! and you knew the only way you could get me was by getting knocked up! Because you knew a kind of man that I would not shirk my responsibility.
I had used our outside shower to get all the salt water off. And I was standing there and they didn’t see me, but they did when he walked out. If, you would’ve seen the look on both of their faces, you would’ve seen the look of shock on both.
Because I have never seen them fight before. And I was shocked!! in a s I went outside. My father was sitting by the pool, having a drink, and he said I’m sorry you had to see that.
😊I said I’ve never seen you to fight before. And he said it’s because said this. Let this be a lesson to you boy. When you and your wife get in an argument, and you will trust me, it will happen sooner or later. When she slaps you, you don’t hit he said. So I did. And he said this.
“YOU DON’T EVER, EVER HIT A WOMAN.”
