ANY American 2-Door, V-8, Rear Wheel Drive, with salvageable AC from the ‘60’s is worth saving and you are the guys to do it. Easy to see you simply love automobiles.
Hey guys, enjoying this rescue from the other side of the world in Australia. Some feel good fun along the way too that make your videos that much more enjoyable. Keep up the great work saving these beauties!
I don;t think they look beautiful, They just look Muscley, IF that car pulled up next to at a stop light back in the day you knew not to screw around and rev you engine because he was about to eat your lunch. Steelies with Dog Dishes just meant "All Go and No Show".
@@TheREALOC1972 Ho yeah, this way hehe ^^. I like the steel wheels look, and this small hubcap effect just covering the lug nuts , they just looks great to me. Not sure if it's beacause I like authenticity or what. Meh , just love the look of them ^^ .
Being raised to an adult with 1st 2nd and 3rd gen mustangs and in Arizona, everyone had old cars ! Your channel is bringing back good memories with my brothers ! Thx
A Meaty sounding big floaty boat! That car is worthy for more attention and care. Not many seen anymore unless in a collection that doesn't get driven or crowned as a trailer queen. Good job!
I watch a lot of car channels and yours is the best by far!!! Not a lot of nonsense as you guys just get into it and you really care about saving these cars!! This Galaxie is a iconic car with lots of history on the race track. Thanks for bringing her back to her glory!!! Keep the great videos coming!!!
Yep, definitely a great car. I remember back in hi school. My buddy's brother had a 68 or 69 fastback Galaxy 500 with a 390 cu. in. That car was Fast! He proceeded to scare the piss out of us freshmen one day. 😂😂
@@BudgetBuildzhey great video but. You never showed how you fixed the shifter problem with the headers.... And you used the gasket on the front walls of the block ..... should have used the black RTV Ive always heard that those gaskets aren't any good
I have watched a few "rescue" videos and you guys are the FIRST I've seen who took the time to drop the pan and make sure 40 years of crap was not sucked up into the engine BEFORE the first crank. Only a first-class mechanic thinks like you guys.
G’day guys I’m from Australia, I’m no grease monkey but I enjoy your videos, the great thing is, when things go wrong you don’t use bad language, and that makes the show more enjoyable to watch. I’m loving seeing these old cars coming back to life. Keep up the good work guys, congrats on a great program. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇦🇺🇦🇺
I had one a few years back and did about the same as you getting it running. One thing is that is it does not say Galaxie anywhere on the car.... It's just a 1968 Ford XL, but yes it is a Galaxie body. Glad to see the revival of this cool looking full size car.
My teenage learning experience of being a hometown mechanic… 18 or 19 years old and a302 V8 in a cougar. Lotta fun watching you work on the same engine. My sister also had a Fairlane like that fast back with a 302.
@ that was my ill-advised attempt at building a cheap teenage hot rod. My engine couldn’t handle a 4barrel even though I bought a 600 Holly and headers to boot. Then I also found the headers didn’t fit because it had power steering. There’s a long arm underneath the engine that connects to the steering pump, and the headers just went right where that rod was. It was impossible to put them on, even though I tried anyway and even banged and even dented them just to make them fit. Not a good idea.🤣
1st time finding your channel. And I am hooked. Love what y'all do. It's great to see a father and son who enjoy a hobby together. More power to you both. Track us down an old AMX or Gremlin 😅😅😅
Great stuff, Michael. I went through a similar ordeal when I learned about the nylon-coated timing sprockets on our Diamond Blue '68 Cougar which you have seen at the Upstate Cars&Coffee. A couple summers ago, 302 engine died 230 miles from home. Dover Cylinder Head Service in Greenville rebuilt the 2-month old Edelbrock E-street aluminum heads, replacing 2 intake and 6 exhaust valves. This happened with 78k miles on odometer. The Cougar has since been on two Hot Rod Power Tours with no more problems. It has factory power front disc brakes. I've replaced the original pads and rebuilt the rear drums.
I love watching your builds. Being a fan of dog dishes with steelies, I appreciate your style. Being a ford guy I loved the ‘61 galaxie build, this one is great also! Keep the great work 👍🏼
Sweet Georgia Galaxie is so up from its dirt nap ready now to creep about as a 'sleeper' that roars when it snores! May the hail that prevailed over the many decades continue to have grace upon that rear piece of glass. That fast back on this model is about a mile long... it just goes on forever. Thank goodness louvers were not a thing back then, though they could spare the interior from sun damage and also spare the glass from a hail storm.
You da men. Thanks. More please. Keep your channel just like this please, it's a beautiful thing. Don't go all corporately or must do a drive it home from a billion miles away with no tools. Or big pressure and stress to get to a car show. No need. It's perfect you both doing your thing just as it is.
Love your videos so much. It is a good thing, to save the cars from the backyard. You're learning many things. And the best is, your dad is on your side 👍
Love to have one of those! I do have its relative: a 68 Galaxie 500 former police car. Yes, it rips. I love classic sleepers. Nothing beats steelies and dog dish hub caps, as far as wheels go. Of course, a beefy engine ya gotta have. Grannie drives it to church, yet it yanks decent numbers on the strip. That XL is beat up and beautiful at the same time.
Now just get a gas tank in that car and then it's done. But what about that 50's Chevy? Can you do something on that one. Maybe even paint it? Great job all around
Nice work guys, your methods of starting old motors is perfect. To check oil pressure when you first crank the engine, and always do that with the plugs OUT, is when the oil pump starts to fill up and deliver oil it slows down the cranking rotation. So just listen for the starter to load up, bingo, oil pressure. Last point if I may, when first opening bonnets, trunks and doors spray WD40 straight away on all the hinge pivots. Seen many a bonnet bend due to bonnet hinges seizing. Again, great work getting the old cars back on the road.
Just want to complement you on your production skills (not sure of the correct term here). In the beginning of the 2nd Ford Galaxie XL video you recapped the first video. That was great for those of us who have ridden in the car when it came off the show room floor. Keep up the good work.
Hey there from South Africa......... Awesome job and well done indeed. I learn something every time I watch your videos. Thanks so much. That is one outstanding car, keep it up.
I like that model Ford, you’ve got a driver. Not much rust either, and I’ve seen some vehicles that are way worse. So, yeah, you did good. Keep it going.
I love the lines of this car as well as a couple other recent ones. You are deffinately on a roll with choices . This turned out so good. A clear coat over that patina would sit very well ith me 😁😁. Keep it up guys your awesome.
In 1973 I bought my own first car a 1970 Ford XL fastback 429 bucket seat center council with slapstick was a hell of a nice car for a young man. Ran like a bat out of hell just couldn't stop it dam drum brakes all the way around didn't want to drive it on rainy days.
Always enjoy all your videos. Might be time for a concrete pad outside of the garage, quite the dip when you drive out. Would help with washing vehicles, and easier to find something if you drop it.

68 and 69 were the only years "XL" was technically a separate model and not a trim package. Its a very common misconception.
This Galaxy will be a great car! Y’all please keep up the great work
