Super cool and no way am i attempting that without your help!
Hahaha, yes it's a lot of work. But when you are ready, you know where I am (:
Great video guys
awesome :) thanks for filming this process. I love m57 bmw's so much!
No problem at all!
Nice exhaust note for a diesel!
Hi Brad, thank you for these helpful videos! May ask the part numbers of the green connectorhousings (male&female) on your custom harness please?
Greatings from Europe!
Nice video!
Thank you!
Gotta love the 8hp swapppp
They are great
awsome videos keep it up
Thank you sir!
Keep the videos coming my friend! Been waiting for these. About as close to a B. Tourt University as you gonna let me get! I'll try again next semester. Ahhahaha!!💪💪💪
Thanks so much! Will be putting more content out here
silicone spray on door gaskets help with wind noise at 140mph
Great video! Very well documented. Do you know of a AWD 8 speed transmission option for the e60 with the N54?
It would be the same transmission but just an xdrive. 8hp70x or 8hp75x
Is the new shifter just to complete the look, or necessary for the swap to work correctly? Just curious if the old one could be kept to keep it totally under the radar :)
The old shifter will not work. However, you can use a e90 dct shifter that fits perfectly.
Professionals, making it look easy. I plan on doing this to my E60 535d as the 6hp26 isn't doing it justice, how do you like the CANTCU vs the Turbo Lamik controller?
Both are great controllers, however CanTCU is more plug and play and way better for street driving. Turbolamik, you can customize everything and change your map. This was over my head when I did my first 8 speed swap. Now I just use CanTCU.
@@bradtourt thanks for the reply!
Is it any different in e91 330xd 231hp model? I am considering 8hp70x + CanTCU
Thanks a lot for the video.
Same
Great content, camera focus has lot of room to improvement XD
Do you guys sell the wiring harness ?
I need one for my E61 LCI, with SATA gear shifter, and I wanna put in 8HP not sure if F series of G series one, but for sure I will be using CAN TCU, but my car has sports button right next to the shifter so I would like to integrate it all and make it all work like factory
I’m curious how that holds power. Also can you still run xhp ?
It's stronger than the 6hp and yes you can
Nice video! Good tips.. what about setting up the cantcu and removing immo from 8hp😅
Yeah no problem, I can make a video on this
I had one problem.. did you remove the thead with 10mm drill? The starter bolts used to be 10 and the thread in pmc adapter is 8mm.. if i used 8mm bolts the starter moves!? And 2x 8mm bolts with 8.8 rating.. enought to hold the starter?
@@karlpuuraid7304 yeah it's sufficient
hey! i wanna prepare myself to zf8 swap my future 535d, do you think i can keep the original transmission shaft and differential or i need to find a new shaft?
You should be able to use the original shaft
Hi mate what about the transmission bracket is it original e90 or different one?
It's original
Do you know are they the same as e60 5 series
@@valentinlukanov2358 I doubt it
I swapped the trans bracket from the old 6HP. Four bolts
Brad... Little confused.... JR 3.1 is stock turbos? Apparently I'm missing something.... Now all of my info is very old because I did my upgrades about the time we found out we needed an r90...
Yes. Stage 4 is hybrids
@@bradtourt then they change the numbering scheme in the years that I wasn't paying attention. Thank you sir
@@LeeWinkler stage 2.8 is stock turbo and fuel system, stage 3.1 is stock turbo with an r90, and stage 4.1 is r90 and hybrids. Nothing has changed.
@@bradtourt I'm not 100% positive as it yas been many years ago now... But I'm decently sure when I did my hybrids and tune it was 3.0. At that time 2.8 didn't exist.... He had 2.5 as his top for stock turbos. I'll have to ask Mark F to see if he remembers it the way I do .... Though it makes absolutely no difference ... Just curious . Thanks for the clarification
@@bradtourt I talked to Mark F (another OG from the e90post days). He confirmed, Im not crazy :D When JR/AArod first came out with the Hybrid/tune...it was 3.0. At the time, there was just 2, 2.5 and 3. (2.8 was introduced right around the time I did my hybrid swap). Then we (literally we.... found out on my car) through logging that the R70 couldnt deliver enough fuel consistently enough for what was requested....thats when the R90 pumps started to be included in the tune requirements. Once I got my stuff dialed in pretty much, I just dropped off and did suspension and wavetrac and ATM hose/IC stuff......so my info is so old that its invalid now. Thanks for all you do on our platform man!
What did this swap cost and what was your labor?
Labor is $2500 and for the transmission, controller, and all the little stuff, it's around $5,000
@@bradtourt Same for a 135i? Obviously different adapters
@@alfamarco4845 yes, same
Show us how it shifts!
It shifts great, there is another video that shows the shifts better.
@@bradtourt which one do you mean? I looked both videos from you
Stock driveshaft? Stock trans mount? That is interesting
Yes
@@bradtourt that is interesting, than it should also work the same on 535d since it uses the same box as 335d
@@fabini14 yeah absolutely
