Perfect timing for this video. Started on my 8hp swap on an n54 car today. Eagerly waiting on part 2! Your explainationof oil lines has most likely saved me a day of headaches.
@@DK-421 Pretty amazing, so worth it - the car is just so much fun to drive now, have XHP on the trans, shift insanely quick, manual shifting makes you forget its an automatic. The car ran 11.8 at 127 the day I blew up the 6hp, I've gone to the track once with the 8hp but unfortunately had a 30ff - Ran 11.5 at 122. The swap would of been super easy but had to pull the rear VRSF inlet to get to the top trans bolts. Everything was just like swappin in a stock trans besides the cooler and wiring - I used the cantcu pnp harness which took like 30 min to wire. Honestly everything is like OEM, its been 4 months since Ive finished the swap and I havnt had to mess with it once and I race this thing like 3 times a week.
6hp28 is good enough, not worth the hassle for 8hp, better get x3 donor and swap on the e39, i just did on e38 complete swap to 286hp m57n2 engine with all electronics and transmission working
Hello. I didnt understood part about transmission cooling lines, 8hp transmission different dimensions? It isnt straight fit from 6hp? Im thinking about doing e60 535d swap to 8hp70. And you are using oem cooler or bought aftermarket one?
Hey Brad, you mentioned a plug in for the transmission P lock connector. Where would I buy that plug in adapter that you mentioned instead of having to cut the wiring?
was the plan for this swap to use the CanTCU? i thought you were offering factory repinned ZF8 TCU's as part of your kit. does the e70 zf-8 swap require the same modifications for the starter?
Epic Video Brad, i'm looking forward to the next!

Awesome, I'm glad I could help. Your wiring will be a bit different than mine, but the rest of the stuff should be similar.
How'd it turn out?

Great video walkthrough!
Hi guys, perfect job! I make the conversion with N57 engine. How you make bypass wiring to cantcu ecu like that? can you post scheme?
Ah perfect. I'm actually hoping to swap in an M57D into one of my e39's with an 8HP. This is perfect.

Very cool. Currently at 198K, fluid changes every 60K miles, but these things can't last forever.
Great start Brad - I have passed it on.
Random how this came up... But I own a 07 e90 335d so my kind of channel! Great stuff guy's so new follower for sure👌🍻

It comes with this kit: www.canformance.net/product/e8x-9x-pnp-wiring-harness/
Try emailing them for just the plug.
hello.from where did you get that plate between gearbox and motor?thank you

Ohohohoh what the fuck goddamn good job

Yes, cantcu is needed for the swap. The transmission needs to be a diesel 8 speed as the gen 1 8hp is not supported.
Hey can you post the links to everything I’m currently wanting to do that swap but I’m having a hard time finding the tcu controller
Send me an email to purchase my kit. It's $3,000
dderepair@gmail.com
@bradtourt sorry if I missed it but what comes in the kit? Does it include everything needed besides the transmission?
@@thbigshot101 it included everything besides the shifter and transmission
whats the average cost?
Around $2800 for the kit. But with parts and labor it's around $8k

is the process the same on an e70 x5d?
@@vladryazanov9167 yes, but more simplistic

What about 2012 x5 m57?
Same thing, I did the first 8 speed swap in one a year ago
Heyy who's silver 335 is in the back behind you? 😅
Lol... Not too sure, but it's not silver anymore!
now imagine an xdrive 8speed swap👀👀
Yes, It would be pretty simple to do, just need an xdrive body as the floor pan is different
I'm planning on doing it to my xDrive next month.😄😃
@@brokeitracing1320 that will be a dig monster right there
How much to have this done to my 2013 x5 ? I’m in Wisconsin
Well it's around $3000 for the kit, $2000 for a transmission, and $2500 in labor.
Is there a website to order a 8 speed swap kit?
There isn't just send me an email. DDErepair@gmail.com
Super cool man. Was it hard to source a rwd F10 diesel transmission? Here in Canada, all of them are X drive. Can't wait for part 2. 🤘
It's not too hard, they are available in the states, but you can always order from europe, they are around $2,000 shipped.
