Not my E30 at least 😅 As awesome as this 8HP swap is, I don't think it will fit the feel of my E30. I really like it being the oldschool manual. Petri's E30 might get 8HP/DCT to make it faster on 1/4 mile. But no guarantee.
I am hoping to be one of the first to stick an 8hp in an Escort Cosworth, also in Finland. Apart from getting the car up and running, I only need a transmission crossmember sorted out.
Self holding phase in MS42/43/45s is meant to give the ECU enough time to store adaptation values to the EEPROM when the engine is turned off. Note: Increasing the timer also means you have to wait longer when flashing the ECU since it will stay awake longer. Edit: BMW puts the transmission in between the shifter (which is terminated) and the rest of the PT CAN. Therefor the BMW original looms have two pairs of CAN high/low going to the transmission per CAN.
Thanks for the insights once again! Oh I didn't know that about the original wiring. I did it little bit differently so that the shifter has two pairs of the CAN wires and one of those goes to the trans and it's terminated there (now 😅),
Well, cantcu is the perfect choise for street car because of the use of original tcu in the transmission. It gives oem driveability which is must for nice to drive street car. But it also work for track, drag racing etc. very well. Especially with the better OEM+ flash and proper manual mode. It's also very easy to install. But once you start to need trans-brake for spooling big turbo in drag racing or virtual clutch for drifting (though why run auto for that, when manual is better), then turbolamik becomes the better choice. It's of course a lot more difficult to install and requires tuning to get working nicely. So not really worth the hassle if you don't need the extra features it offers.
Amazing work! I would also like to swap an 8hp45 on a stock m52b28 single vanos ms41.what type of converter do you think would be more suitable.diesel or gasoline?
Thanks! I was bit surprised too, how well this turned out 😃 I don't have any good results of the fuel consumption. It seems to consume roughly 12.5 liters of E85 per 100km. But that includes lot of tuning and pulls, so it's not very comparable result.

Main thing is the cost. At least currently, you can get like 4 to 6 of these N55 8HP transmissions for the price of one N54 DCT transmission 😅 The DCT is also heavier, so because the power handling of the 8hp45 isn't problem in this project, it's better to use that weight wise too.

Well yeah, I wanted to do something different and I'm not regretting it. Quite opposite. I was checking that, but the problem first of all is that the fittings/lines don't work with any of the 8hp stuff. Which might be something that can be worked out. But I also couldn't find good used parts and new ones were rather expensive.

Have you modified anything in the ms45 engine ECU? As far as I know, it only knows 5 gears. How does it manage to change the other 3 additional gears of the 8hp gearbox?
Actually ms45 has support for 8 gears. The old e39/e46 etc. can11h CAN protocol though can go only up to 6th, and in many cases it's limited to 5. But I run the newer bn2000 protocol from e60 and that supports the gears up to 8. And the TCU in the transmission handles the gear changes. Not ECU. Where I can find this amber display for cluster? I am looking for something similar to my renault project
It's Gauge.S: shop.sorek.uk/collections/gauge-s With code PAZIOFF20, you get 20% off from the price.
What ECU are you using on the M52? It normally uses the ms41, but canTCU doesnt support the ms41. And how did you get the m52 running with the "newer" ECU?
I did explain everything more in detail on the first part: ruclips.net/video/ChU8Mwq_VwI/видео.html But it has actually m52tu and I'm running ms45.1 on it. With m52 you can use ms43 ecu with alpina flash to make the 8hp work nicely with it.
Where do you find this flash I can’t seem to find it
@@EUROFEVER ms4.net is your place for this stuff: www.ms4x.net/index.php?title=Alpina_Firmware_Preservation
