I was waiting silently waiting for my turn. Now that HTG is slowly dying it was time for us to shine and we accomplished in a 2 days what HTG couldn't in 2 years.
I posted this in a response to a comment below, but though it might be more useful to post on its own.... They are using an 8HP75 which can be found on the inline 6 diesel versions of the BMW X5 and X6 models after around 2014 and later, engine code N57. These can be hard to find depending on where you live. I'm in the US and I had to import my 8HP75Z from Bulgaria since the diesel version of BMWs seem to be less common here than in the EU. To understand what model you'd need for your car first know your cars max torque. You add a zero to the end of the last two number of the transmissions model number to get the gearbox torque rating in NM. So, an 8HP45 is rated for 450NM or 332FTLBS, 8HP70 - 700 NM or 516FTLBS, etc.. If you see an X or a Z at the end of the model number, then this is the AWD version. Pick your box based of the torque your car is making or turn down the torque in your tune on the first couple gears if you get a lower rated tranny. Also, there are several auto manufacturers that have `8HP` transmissions and they are not all created equal. I would recommend staying with the ZF 8HPs like used by BMW, they have a larger output shaft and seem to be more reliable. BMW 8HPs start with either a ZF or a GA model number. ZF8HP75 and GA8HP75 are identical gearboxes. But at whatever cost, and for the love of motorsports, do not buy a Dodge Chrysler version!!
@@esomerrickEven though the Chrystler version is also referred to as the 8HP they are technically a different transmission altogether produced by Aisin Seiki Co., Ltd. in Japan and not ZF Friedrichshafen AG in Germany.
